We looked forward to making some jewelry, but they only had on kit left "and all of the pretty colors are gone" to quote the staff. I tried another bracelet, but the directions were very difficult to understand so I moved on to something else. The beaded bracelet looked like something I could have bought at 5 below anyway. The pieces are too expensive. Save your $, go to paint night or a proper bead shop were the staff know what they are doing. read more

We went here for my bachelorette party and it was a great time! The pedagogue was super helpful and answered our questions. It's BYOB and food with plenty of space to set it out. My only complaint was I wish I had more time to perfect my craft. We were there til close. I also went there for their Mother's Day brunch and crafts. The catered food was wonderful and delicious! There was a "mom"-osa bar, just BYO bubbly but they had all the fixings. The crafts kind of had a Mother's Day theme. My mom loved it and is still talking about the experience or where to hang her craft! It was a unique way to spend quality time. It's a unique place for a one-of-a-kind experience and friendly staff. The dogs are a bonus! (and very friendly and well-behaved, in case you're not a dog person). It's probably best I have to travel some to get there, or I'd be there all the time! Where to begin..... if I could give them negative stars I would. We went as a group for a friends bachelorette and here is what happened: 1. The design my friend had chosen from the website and upon receiving the project the letter was different than shown. When she asked about it she was promptly told " that's what you picked so you have to use it". They proceeded to argue that it was her fault at which time I told to stop blaming the customer and fix it. After what was too much discussion they finally resolved the issue. 2. When another person asked for design ideas for their project they were told to look on YouTube or Pinterest. 3. The bracelet had maybe 6 charms to choose from and the materials were cheap in quality and looked cheap. 4. Another friend worked diligently on her project only to have the staff cause a blemish when they took it to spray it. They did fix their mistake but told her she needed to pay $30 fee because they had to stay after closing to fix it. She didn't pay it. 5. Another guest didn't show up and they proceeded to tell us that we had to pay for the craft she signed up for. After we left they continued to harass the people who stayed to get their project fixed and pressured them into paying $60 and DID NOT give the supplies for the craft. 6. Another friend got her craft home only to realize they hadn't sprayed it properly and the paint was coming off. When she called she was told it was her responsibility to check the craft before she left and that she could go to Michaels and buy the spray and do it herself. And finally they offered a $5 discount on her next craft. Like she would ever come back! 7. Add in barking dogs and a toddler running around. 8. Anytime a question was asked the answer was " refer to the instructions" If your looking for horrible customer service, over priced crafts, staff with little to no product knowledge and an overall unprofessional approach then you will love this place. We went there for a hobby party , the moment we get in , dogs running and barking and mind you, this was in a mall ! Then a screaming child ! And then it went downhill from there. I picked to do a bracelet craft, the materials were cheap and shoddy , it would have been better if I bought stuff from Michaels then I got harassed for not having my ID card which was ridiculous ! Then when I left, the chairs gave me the worst backache and mind you , I found out that 2 other people had a bad back after sitting on those steel cold chairs with no cushion whatsoever. Over priced, bad customer service , shoddy materials = never going back there again. Not worth your money , just go get your own stuff from michaels , do it at home, I guarantee you , you'd be so much happier you did! read more

We ordered our designs weeks ahead of time and even confirmed the design we chose based on the paperwork that we saw shortly after arriving. The issue was that they didn't print out the design that I ordered and had no way of rectifying the issue because they use interns to print out the orders who are not onsite. The girl working there explained that there was no way to fix this problem. Although she tried to help me by picking out other designs, I felt pressured to select something that I didn't order and ended up taking home a half finished project. Hobby Prodigy offered no discount for the failure on there end. There were only 2 other people in the studio while we were there. I now have my own idea as to why this business is always empty. Good concept, terrible customer experience and as a small business owner myself, I would have some processes in place to ensure that my unpaid intern was doing the job correctly. If I could give this store ten stars I would do so! I had been in a year ago to check out this store when I was in the area and was very impressed with it. However, recently there was a Yelp event there and I got to actually experience what they do in the store. Individually we made a coaster that had a decal of the city skyline. We were given directions, tools, and materials. They have community type tables and I was able to sit with a few other women. We chatted while we were putting our coasters together. It was interesting to see how we were all given access to the same materials and how different everyone's turned out. Your individuality really shines through. I'm not a very creative person but the space you in is very inspiring. As a group we made a very large piece of art. It was many layers and included a stencil decal. It, too was our city's skyline. We are Pittsburghers and we LOVE our city! We are PROUD of our city! So, we love anything to do with our city. It was very cool how we were given a picture to guide us but our piece didn't have to look identical. We could be creative and make it however we wanted to. I jumped in to help sand. We were using a huge wooden board instead of a canvas. It was so big that up to three people could work on it at one time. After I helped to sand I started laying the first layer of paint. We were given different colors. We splattered them, brushed them, and even used our fingers to paint with them. Every person approached the "canvas" differently. It was so interesting to see. It definitely was a team building experience. Everyone got along and we let everyone "do their thing". The end result was a true piece of art. Everyone loved it. That doesn't happen often. I think the employees are so encouraging and the space was so inspiring that there is no such thing as "doing it wrong". We had put our names in the drawing and one of the ladies won and was able to take home the piece of art. I was a little envious. However, while spending time working on my coaster and on the group piece I really started to think of all of the ways you could bring together friends, teams, or groups together for a fun experience. They are willing to help you make anything you would like to make. If you go in and talk to them and show them your idea they will do their best to help you make it happen. They also offer projects there that you can make that range in price so it's affordable for anyone. I learned that they do a great event for Mother's Day. Next year I'm asking my family to join me in experiencing that event as my Mother's Day gift. They have other special events as well such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and others. Don't wait! This DIY shop is set up almost like a restaurant, where you are seated at a table and "order" a craft you would like to make. The friendly and helpful staff then "serve" you with the instructions and materials needed for making the craft. You can even order Starbucks to be delivered to you while you craft to keep you motivated. The atmosphere is laidback and perfect for a relaxing afternoon with family or friends. read more

We had 7 of the ladies from our family do an outing ages ranging from 25 to 70. We had a wonderful time and were each able to pick our own craft. Abby, the girl working, talked to us like we were 5 years old about our safety and liability waivers. The planter boxes didn't quite fit together right. Also the upcharges for the knobs and extras are pricey! $10 for an extra vinyl and $5 per knob. Lastly they add 10% gratuity. But overall the day was fun and our crafts look great! Sadly disappointed. The idea is great, The prices are ridiculously high!! Especially for the terrible customer service. This place does not show you how to make your craft nor provide any assistance. You come in and sit down and even though you've made a reservation the person goes through her speech as if you were a walk in. They give you an instruction sheet to read and follow w/out any hands on direction & guidance. You have to know what your are doing here, and you're only paying to use their tools. If you mess your craft up they blame you and you still get charged while you go home without the product they made you pay for. Save yourself some aggravation, spend your money on your own tools (most you already have) and YouTube if you're not sure what to do. read more

I went with a group of friends. My craft turned out well, but the staff were not very helpful. The paper direction sheets were unclear and the staff were not flexible with adjustments to products. We had reservations, but the website says you can walk-in. There is no way anyone could walk-in because the staff show no flexibility or helpfulness when wanting to tweek a design. Website reservation is complicated-One of my friends signed up to make ceramic coasters, did not realize she had to choose a design for them, and instead of the staff contacting her prior to and informing her that her design was missing, she showed up, was made to feel stupid, and told "there really isn't anything for you to do since you didn't choose a design, this is going to be boring for you." She ended up hand painting her own design. This is wrong on so many levels...you would think they would have extra designs in the back and a way to make sure reservations were accurate or follow up to insure complete reservations. The space is cute, concept great, but execution terrible...We will not go back. read more

I overheard the boss screaming at employees for reasons that not even a word is required. She was very rude and short-tempered with an attitude that the employees unfortunately have to put up with. The store looks nice but is unbelievably expensive with other stores near-by for more reasonable prices. I do not recommend this very unfriendly little store to anyone, please take my advise and take your business somewhere else, it will be better spent. read more
