It was not a proper hobby store in the broader sense. I miss the good ole days but the profit margins were slim I am told by the employees. I'm not into RC so I don't know about their expertise or selection. If you're interested in other hobbies don't waste your time visiting this store. Very little selection of plastic models, very little paint (Hobby Lobby has a better selection), next to no tools, no trains, no magazines or reference material, no games, no non-modeling items like craft or collecting supplies. Once this was a real decent hobby shop - no longer. 75% of its floor space is devoted to RC racing. The north store was better but the owner retired and closed up shop. 1 Star because it won't me pick No stars. read more

1star is being generous. I drove 30 minutes to ask the guy behind the counter if he could help me figure out why my light in my (purchased from the store) project was not working. He proceeded to explain to me that his hands were full and he was working on a large order so was not able to help me. He said I should come back another day. I found it rude and it would have taken him a few minutes to just look at my project. The store was absent of any other human life. Ugh! Will never go back to this location!!! read more

One star is 5 too many, I have tried many times to get parts from this place. They kept telling me that the owner had not ordered any product. I went back a couple months later and the same story. I went back Again hoping they might have changed, What a joke, the guy there said it was the tariffs that was keeping the store from having anything to sell. What a joke, those tariffs have not been in effect for the last 7 months. LIARS, They know nothing about RC and do not care to know anything. The customer service is trash. No one knows what they're talking about. We've been several times and have been given at least one wrong part each time hence why we had to go back. We've asked advice on how to upgrade our cars and they either don't know the correct parts, or say that it'd be cheaper to just get new cars some how and in a condescending tone. You'd be better off looking at forums online to get any information, and definitely just order your parts online from some where else as well. read more

I've gone to Hobby Town several times throughout the years and have never even received decent service from their employees once. The last time I went in the older man on the floor acted like a total asshole and talked down to me and for some bizarre reason kept insisting that I wanted Catan figures instead of model train figures. He pointed to the locked cabinet where the train figures were & didn't even follow me there to assist me. Then someone comes in very soon after me and he takes them to the same cabinet while completely ignoring me. No idea why he was so rude but I left and will never go back. read more

This review is for both the North and South locations in Colorado Springs ...... I visited both locations on Saturday, 23 May ......differences are specified .....These two stores are the reason local hobby shops are going by the wayside ...... With the local shutdowns still prevalent because of the virus, I decided to get back into modeling ...... I did my research prior to, and visited the South store looking to buy a compressor and airbrush....... the employees were old guys (like me) ..... no acknowledgment as I came in ....... still nothing as I looked around ....... I finally initiated a conversation by asking about plastic models ......I was shown the small section and left alone ....... as I was leaving, I asked about and was shown a couple of airbrushes....... no touching ..... no explanations ...... if I was to buy one it would be the 'prettier' one .......l felt uncomfortable being in there ...... I left with a few bottles of paint ..... I headed to the North store , hopefully to find a better experience........ I had trouble finding it was it's in an out of the way strip mall ...... hidden behind fast food restaurants...... who picked that location should be fired ...... no parking ..... and you better lock your car ....... one older guy with a handful of giggling kids ...... great ......they had no idea as to what rolling stock is ..... or a Panzer ...... but admittedly could probably talk Warhammer or D&D ...... the store layout is terrible ..... nothing is where you would think it would be ...... again, no acknowledgment as I came in ....... bought some small paints and a Tamiya model ...... "would you like a bag"? ....... seriously? ...... tiny store ...... more than a handful of customers and it feels crowded........ again, lock your car doors ...... I ended up buying my compressor and airbrush on-line ...... for really only a few dollars cheaper than their price ...... Model railroading is a great, but dying hobby ...... not everyone is into RC ..... when someone new comes into your store ...... you better be all over them ...... what are you interested in? ......what brings you here? ..... you want them to come back ........ repeat business is going to keep them alive ....... Walked in with an airbrush and a hose that were not the same size. I wanted to find an adapter or hose to fit my new airbrush. After looking at the display case for a while and not seeing what I needed a salesman came over and asked if I needed help. I showed him the hose and airbrush and my problem. Instead of helping me he just said I should contact the manufacturer and then walked off. The store was empty excerpt for me and a gentlemen being checked out. It wasn't busy. Would have been nice if the sales man had offered to oopen the cabinet, make some suggestions, check their stock... anything except just walking away. I was starting to like this store, but today's experience totally turned me off and I will start shopping for my paints and supplies elsewhere. read more

This hobby town is one of the best I have been too in a long while. They have a awesome selection of model kits, games , trains and I guess RC everything ( I'm not into RC). I wouldn't suggest for young people who want to get into RC. The staff seemed to not be very helpful and not enjoy helping. For example I went to there store looking for complete sets of wheels and tires; but the employee I dealt with gave of a vibe of not caring and non enthusiastic about my presence. So in general I would try to find another licensed Traxxas dealer. read more

I enjoyed this hobby store. It definitely seemed to have a strong corner on role playing games. It did seem to have an adequate amount of models to build. I would've liked to of seen more in regards to HO and N scale trains but the store definitely can hold its own. read more

Another horrid experience. There is an organizational problem with this company. I have had three bad experiences in the store in different states. In another store, my son asked to throw a piece of garbage away and was told to go outside to a garbage can on the sidewalk rather than the one we could see behind the counter. This store, just last week I went to try to find a part...stood near the desk in the back...and rather than help me the man behind the desk simply continued helping another customer, which wouldn't have been so bad except that they were telling r/c war stories. I searched for the part myself...and gave up. I walked out-again- vowing to never, ever set foot in a Hobbytown shop again. read more

Went into the store a few times thinking they had the part i was looking for (propellers (cw,ccw) and ESC's) only bought a 6 pack of propellers thinking it had both cw and ccw. when i got home to my dismay it only had ccw propellers, that wasn't going to get me very far as i was building a drone and need both for it to work properly. So i ended up going back, because i was unhappy with the propellers and i forgot to pick up an ESC. both times i went in i was greeted at the door, but never helped and was confused thinking there was a bigger section of propellers i was missing. so after not getting help i finally walk up to an employee sitting in the back corner doing nothing and ask him where the ESC's are at, apparently they need to lock them up like are gold bracelets or something and after the guy told me the price of the only 2 they had i just about shot threw the roof. i asked him why the prices (35 for the cheap one he said and 48 for the expensive one) were so high and he told me he had no clue what so ever and then looked at me puzzled. so, reluctantly i bought only 1 since i really wanted to get my drone in the air. I received a refund on half of the propellers, but never did get help to find others. the guy that was helping me was more then eager to move on to the next customer without even asking if i was done. being the store was getting noisy and crowded with people looking around i got my ESC and bolted, as is took 15min just to check out as they only had 2 registers open. After a day or so i went back to see if i could actually talk to someone, and stood at the back counter for about 10 min before someone finally came behind the counter and asked if i needed any help. i asked the gentleman if they had any other propellers or if that was the only ones they had as i need the cw ones for a drone i was building. his quote " you are trying to take something built for an airplane and modded it for a drone, i personally don't know anything about drones, but the small section in the other corner in the back might have some." so i proceeded to go over and look and almost broke out laughing as the parts on that wall had absolutely nothing to do with what i was looking for. so i started to walk by the guy as i was going to walk out and he didn't even bother to say thank you or anything, i had to say thanks. I also found out that they run an rc club there called "SCORCH" from the hobbytown there and i found out that the guy i got the ESC from is a member, essentially telling me that they know really nothing outside of airplane rc's, if even that, they also have been know to kick members out without notifying them or even talking to their members first. In my best opinion, i would stick to online buying of the parts you need, i will be going back to that, and stay away from that RC group if you want any joy out of your flying, simply put find another and better group and shop. I will never shop there again and have been telling all my friends the story and they agree as well, they wont be going there either and will be telling their friends the same! read more

I have been searching for a very unique game for YEARS. It was something German I had played on vacation with family, and have never seen it before or since. After seeing the selection in Hobbytown USA, I decided to ask if anyone there had ever heard of Elfenland. Well as it turns out someone recognized the name, and did a search through an old catalog for me and found it! They took my phone number while they looked into finding out if it was still available, and called a couple hours later to let me know they could still get it in! After stopping in to pay ahead of ordering, the game arrived 2 weeks later - and it was just as great as I remembered! Thanks Hobbytown USA! read more

However, won't be returning because of the horrible costumer service experience and I actually feel sorry for the young guys that work there. The best hobby store I know of , Chuck, Decker and the crew know there stuff and always are willing to help people . I have been coming to this store since being stationed here, for the people complaining about things like the trash can and bathrooms.....read the signs posted outside and save yourself the trouble of wasting your time here righting a negative post due to your inability to read a sign posted at the entrance .
