I think it says a lot about a store when you come in 5 minutes til close and the customer service is still fantastic. Working in retail before, I know how tempting it is to be short with customers when it's almost time to go home. That wasn't the case at this location. The people here were so very pleasant and helpful and made small talk with me like they really cared about getting to know me. It's cheesy, but those kinds of experiences at retail establishments really put a good feeling in your chest and make you want to shop there again. We came up to the register hadn't realized there was a self checkout. Instead of greeting us or saying anything the guy behind the counter just stared at his phone and didn't even acknowledge us. I eventually looked over realized there was a self checkout and headed there because it was painfully obvious the dude behind the counter would be no help at all. I get we are all miserable at our jobs the least you can manage is a "hello" or "self checkout is right over there". read more

I usually only come to michaels around the holidays/fall. I am trying to not buy one of everything. The decor is always so cute! lol. I don't craft often, but! We do paint. So every once and awhile we stop by to load up on paint. Today was one of the days. I stopped by for paint and ended up seeing the fall/Halloween stuff already up. It was so fun looking around at this years collection. My heart will always be in fall. But I digress. The store was and is always really organized. I was absolutely thrilled with Kyra's work in the frameshop at Michael's at Broadmoor Towne Center (Southgate). She lovingly reframed my very delicate antique Japanese prints, which had become quite dingy under the WWII era glass. The new frame and matting match the style and era perfectly! I had always gone to private frameshops before, but I'll be returning to Michael's with my next project. I'm a huge crafter, and I love Michaels for art and craft supplies. Baking specialty items (pans, melting chocolate, fondant tools), paper, kid crafts, frames, seasonal decor and craft items, fun little presents - this place has it all! The even offer classes at this location. The only thing is that I wish it were a bit more staffed during busy times of year. They will open more registers, but I feel like I can never find someone to ask a question. Otherwise, Michaels as a whole is a great place to fulfill your hobbying and crafting needs! read more

Frame shop team are very good. It's kinda crazy one can't use Michaels discount coupons in frame shop tho.

Anyone with a child who may need to be changed while you're shopping, avoid this place. Their changing table is easily four feet off of the ground (anyone in a chair wouldn't be able to reach it and anyone around 5 ft will struggle) and the safety strap is broken. When I approached a group (5) of the staff to tell them about it one scoffed at me as if it wasn't that big of an issue and the rest looked like deer in the headlights when I told them it was a safety issue and needed to be fixed ASAP. The entire restroom is disgusting anyway but the changing table being in such poor service is unacceptable. read more

I am not a crafty person, I wish I was, but I'm not. I generally purchase picture frames, gifts for my crafty friends or art supplies for my little son at Michael's. I seem to always have a nice experience at the check out. The employees are engaging and genuine. Asking valid questions about my shopping experience, discussing my purchases. The last time I was in, the employee ringing me up took it upon herself to make certain the item I purchased was or was not on sale. Speaking of sales, I usually never purchase anything unless it's on sale or clearance. The products at Michael's are not high end and, frankly, seem cheaply made so I'm not going to pay full price. There is nothing out of the ordinary or unusual, it's a craft store. You probably know what to expect. Someone else mentioned it and I will too, I generally walk out of the store with a coupon for my next purchase. Kewl. read more

This Michael's Store is always stocked up on everything! You would think that the inventory would be low at this location because of how many stores are around it but that's not the case. This store has anything you could ever need for craft supplies and they have really cool classes for adults and kids. Wednesdays are military days and you get a full 10% off your entire purchase. read more

I have shopped here for years. I buy most of my art supplies, canvases and frames from here.I went into the store on Monday 29th July after a visit to my dentist. I thought I would reward myself with a little shopping trip to Michaels. I was in the second aisle from the front of the store and an employee came up to me. She said, in a loud voice. "You are trespassing on the store and you have been told to leave before so I have to ask you to leave". I looked at her like she had grown another head. "What on earth are you talking about? i have never been asked to leave anywhere, ever. I'm shopping." "NO, you have to leave, you are trespassing on the store." I was just shocked. I didn't know what to say. Meanwhile, a crowd was gathering, pointing and laughing. I was so embarrassed. I asked this employee to take me to the manager and she said, "Well I am a manager." This left me just stunned. I asked her who told her I had been asked to leave, and she pointed up toward the registers, "Oh she did." So I went up front to where she was pointing. She marched behind me. Everyone staring ad pointing. The employee up front immediately said, "Oh no, that's not her! The girl I meant you to talk to had a pony tail! "Oh sooooorry!" At this point I was trying really hard not to cry. I told her that she had publicly humiliated me and that i would never set foot in there again. I ran to my car and cried my eyes out. I am a 58 year old business owner. Well known in Colorado Springs. This is completely unacceptable to treat a loyal customer this way. I called Michaels corporate office and told them what happened. They were shocked and said they would get back to me. They have not. I emailed them too. They have also ignored that. I am disgusted that they have a manager treat me this way. It was traumatic and incredibly humiliating to be treated like some kind of a criminal in public . I will never shop there again, nor will my friends. We don't matter to a huge corporation like this though. read more

This was my go to store when I needed my art supplies but when I was trying to find something specific - like Deco Art Ink Effects Paint. Some of the employees just scoffed or never bothered to help me - I wouldn't have mind if they helped redirected me to another store or even the web. I would've given this store a better rating if the customer service was up to par and if the employees were more knowledgeable when it comes to the products they carry. My go to store for my art supplies is now HR Meinenger Company on S. Weber St. read more

I usually find Michaels to be a good place to go to help with some simple framing. I found a pre-packaged frame and matte in the store, but needed the matte to be cut a little larger. I didn't think this would be a big deal, maybe just a small fee for the frame shop to cut the matte. What shocked me was that they absolutely refused to cut the matte. Even though Michaels is selling these frames, it's technically "not theirs" so they couldn't touch it. Instead they "offered to help" by wanting me to buy another matte "that's theirs" for $35 or buy a matte cutter for $32 and do it myself! Even though that's their profession and what they do! The absurdity was unbelievable!! All they did was blame Arron Brothers for their new rules. What is Arron Brothers thinking?? Or Michael's for that matter?? read more

Just when I was on track to become a regular at this Michael's I start to see the problems other Yelpers have noted. The store is never crowded, but there always seems to be a long slow line at the checkout. No one really says hello or asks if they can help you while you're shopping, and most of the time you barely see a worker roaming the store until there is a call for backup cashiers. I'm not seeing a good reason to go out of my way to shop at this store anymore. read more

Best place to buy craft supplies when in a hurry. Near the broadmoor area, which is a crafting gray zone. One plus, it is near eating and shopping (but what isn't in this town). You also almost always get a coupon for your next visit. read more
