Super helpful staff. I went in with an idea and a budget. Came out a happy RC truck guy. Looking for a strong and fun larger scale RC truck or car for use in a large 3 acre field. Mostly short trimmed grass. Some dirt patches. And need to keep it under $200 all in... not thinking there's a good unit in that range for us, I listened closely. Well I can get you close if you want quality..... $215 later, I got what I feel is a great deal! RC truck charger two batteries and then some! Plus a mini drone for my son's stocking! Cobi, Cobi, Cobi! That is the chant heard round the neighborhood these days. Think Legos, only with a military bent from our friends in Poland. I doubt Lego HQ in Denmark is losing too much sleep over this upstart company to the east, but they really do have a nice little niche market. As much as we try to educate our children in the ways of peace, love and understanding, most boys still like to break stuff. At least when it comes to Legos and Cobi, they get to rebuild it and the fun continues. Cobi is hard to find in Portland, so Hobbytown USA is a really nice option to ordering on-line. Their selection is limited and fluctuates, but they carry so many other toys and products, that this is always a great place to shop for birthday gifts. My father loves jigsaw puzzles and model airplane kits, so this really is an all ages hobby shop. They have a simple buyer rewards program. Just provide your name, address and phone number and every time you make a purchase, they keep a running total of your receipts and eventually you'll earn discounts, etc. Very nice low key staff every time I've visited the store. On many of my visits, there is usually a kid a heart playing with the remote control helicopters, train sets and the like. See kids, no need to worry about growing older. Why is it when me and husband went in to ask about Pokémon cards the guy said we don't sell that??? The co worker next to him looked over like ummm we do, and plus there is a sign in window saying they do. Also my brother in law went in there a couple weeks ago and was told same thing but yet he went back a couple days later and they had some in stock that he bought. I've gone by this store a lot over the years, and never bothered going in. Today I was looking for a board game and the usual gaming store didn't have it, so my husband suggested Hobbytown. Why have I not been coming here all these years?? The selection of roleplaying games is at best mediocre, but the selection of toys and board games (from kid to adult, the full gamut) is pretty darned good. For the size of the store it is incredible - the store is bigger inside than I'd realized, and it's also well-packed with stuff without having completely unnavigable narrow aisles. They did have the game I wanted (Pandemic) and I had a hard time not picking up a few extras on my way out. If my son were older, I wouldn't have made it out without impulse purchases, I think. Four stars for now, but five when I win the lottery and can afford all the things my kid wants in this store! We stopped in to get a replacement set of train tracks, which they promptly ordered for us (woo-hoo, or should I say choo-choo?). Considering I couldn't find them myself online or in any other store this seemed like a completely reasonable solution. Meanwhile my two year old played with the Thomas the train set and stared enamored at all the planes hanging from the ceiling. As we finished up an employee flew a drone around my enthralled toddler. Most days since our visit start out with him requesting to 1. Go back to this store to play with the trains and 2. Teach him how to fly a drone. When our pockets run deeper perhaps that will become a reality, but for now we will be back when it's time to make a Christmas wish list. read more

OK, so when it comes to above and beyond customer service this store knows what it takes to make it happen! I live in Lincoln city and haven't been a consistant customer in almost seven years.... that being said, Iveta and her team saved the day. I blew a tire on my erevo 2.0 and there are no hobbyshops anywhere near me here at the beach, but they pulled together and got me the tires I needed and even stayed after close to make sure I got what I needed. My brother picked up the parts on his way here and now we are back to tearing up the sand.... long story short, these guys are the pinnacle of customer service and will go out of their way to be 100% positive that their customer is taken care of. I love this place. I went in to look at RC airplanes and found all kinds of games and stuff for the kids. There were people sitting down at tables playing a paper game and really enjoying themselves. I want EVERYONE to know how AWESOME the customer service is at this store. My 14 year old son recently purchased his 1st serious RC car from Hobbytown USA. Only two weeks into ownership, he encountered a mechanical problem. We took the car back to the store for an assessment and found that the issue would run nearly $75.00 to fix. OUCH! My son was crushed. He had worked his butt off saving his money to buy this car which cost nearly $200.00, and now another big charge? I asked the salesman for some advice. I expressed my concern about the situation, and asked if this was typical of the durability we should expect with this car? He said "no" and recommended that I contact the manufacturer, which I did. Turns out that this specific brand is sold exclusively @ Hobbytown USA. Regardless - the representative said that the problem would be covered under warranty and that he had already spoken with the Manager @ Hobbytown. He said, "just go in and they'll do the repair immediately". NICE! Good old fashioned customer service. I would highly recommend this store to anyone interested in the products they sell. read more

Super helpful staff. Took my airsoft gun to get it reassembled, and they couldn't get the sear to stop slipping because it was worn out. They ended up charging me nothing and offering to order in the part for me. Have yet to have a bad experience here. Also got an RD helo a while back. Call before to double check that they have what you want, then have them triple check. Thankfully I was already out here but I called ahead to make sure they had the helicopter I wanted only to show up and have them clueless. I want to say, we just bought a traxxas, 1/10 scale truck , with plenty of help from the owner. It was amazing how much help he was. We knew very little. He worked with us to help keep the cost down, while offering lots of suggestions, and information on the products. His store is stocked with many cars, and trucks. The pricing seems very good. One of my son's and my favorite places. They have a great selection of different types of models, but we are into WWII plane specific and with the cost of models so high today I am not willing to try new brands that are more expensive. My son is 12 and just getting into models and the cost is prohibitive. Amazon has the same models for $5 -$10 cheaper, that's a significant savings. Also the employees spend alot of time on the phone with friends and flying plans and quad copters in the srore. read more

This is the first review I've ever written for anything, which is saying something, and it's all thumbs up! Not only do I love their products and the home town feel but agree with many that the customer service is tremendous! The people working there are genuine, fun and very knowledgeable. We have spent many a Merry holiday picking out a few things for our 3 kids here, one of them a girl, and have never been disappointed. I'm so happy we have a truly fun place for games etc. in the area. Also, my 14 year old son recently got introduced to the Magic Cards, The Gathering and is playing on Friday evenings here. He was very nervous at first since he was just beginning to learn, but was met with encouragement and a wonderful experience. While I understand there's a market for RC's and planes, there's almost nothing out there for sci/fi enthusiasts like myself who have to buy kits online due to over priced local dealers or short supply of the latest products. At one point this store was doing well in supplies but now they buy the same model kits again and again and the prices are to high despite stating they are the lowest price around. I've bought certain import kits for nearly half the price they suggest. And now their paint area is a joke as well. You constantly have to special order and wait half a week and pay 5 bucks for little jars of whatever color or 8 dollars for a spray can. I highly recommend either the Clackamas store or Tammies Hobbies for anything. read more

I am a 9 year old boy and hobby town is my favorite place to go because it has great customer service and once in a while they let you fly a drone with a camera on the remote control. They have great selection, knowledgeable staff, and great prices. They help your vehicle get fixed up very fast and they try their best to do it .So far for me, they did a great job and repaired it perfectly. I even have a Traxxas 4 x 4 slash and it works perfectly. I also got new sand tires or paddle tires and I hope they work out! I haven't tried them yet. read more

I purchased a quad copter. one motor worked. took it back. got a fpv. some parts was broken if had to try to fix and it just wasnt working correctly.. The manager is like i can't keep on returning your stuff.. If you don't keep giving me broken stuff, i would not have this problem. So, i got back and exchange the next drone i got that is broke.. Got a rc car somebody returned cuz it was discounted.. Manager assured me it works nothing wrong with it.. take it home front diff is broken right off.. So the money i was saving didn't even matter.. This same person helped me every single time and she said this was my final exchange and again my finally exchange i got something broken.. 3 rc in a row.. all 3 broke some way or another.. I purchased at other hobby towns. and never had one issue. I will never go back here again and I would say to others stay away youll be saving money.. The hobby town on 82nd is the best... all the workers are the best and the staff are the most best.. stay away from wilsonville. im telling you 3 in a row.. get out of here,, I never even yelp this is my first post and the only reason i am yelping is cuz how mad i am right now.. Bought a Conquest 10 MT rc truck for Grandson for Christmas, was told they stock parts on hand for this, it's why I bought it. Well after a Christmas day of playing the steering arm broke, next day was told they were out of stock and would be in next Tuesday ( a week ) . Well got a call today ( a week later ) and was told it will be another week. Try telling that to a kid that he has to wait another week, in the meantime it just sits there. Helion is a hobbytown brand and my suggestion would be stay away from this brand. A friend of mine has Traxxis brand for his kids and has never had parts issues with these. Was tired of him getting rc toys that are just that, toys. Thought this was going to be a good experience, but has turned out to be a real disappointment for both of us. Going this weekend to buy him a Traxxis Stampede 4x4 at a hobby shop in Beaverton OR. In closing I would not recommend this brand, save your time and money and go with something else, do your homework, this was a tough and expensive lesson for me and a real bummer for my Grandson read more
