I knew something was wrong but being a weekend I decided to wait it out. Sunday evening I attempted to take a shower and there was no hot water. The heater had kicked. My wife, daughter and I needed hot water so I began calling plumbers first thing Monday morning. Herdman Plumbing had great reviews and were local so I called them. They had a crew at the house within a few hours and were able to remove the old heater and replace it before I even got home from work. My wife said the crew was personable and friendly and they explained everything they did. Not only did they swap out the heater but they also brought it up to code. I like that the heater they installed was not a cheap bottom of the line model but a solid commercial type that is much better quality than what we had. When I inspected the work I couldn't tell they had been there except for the new heater. The area was spotless clean and no packing material or debris was left behind. This is a "covered" unit with our home warranty company, but after two contractors came out and had no clue whatsoever about tankless water heaters, I contacted Preston whom I knew was an expert. He came out, diagnosed the issue, and ordered the faulty part. He also said our flow sensor was very corroded and once it failed, we'd need a new water heater since that part is no longer made. But while waiting for the other part, Preston took time on his own initiative to dig around a little and found us a new flow sensor, so we won't have to worry about replacing our tankless for some time to come. That initiative has literally saved us a few thousand dollars over the next several years! So, my advice to you is that this is the last review you need to read.
