It was a Saturday, so... not a great start to the weekend, and also, not a lot of (decent) plumbers available! Anyway, I posted a project on Yelp, and Homeservice Plumbers were fairly quick to respond after my other Project options (not to be named here) either demanded a phone number or made wishy-washy timing range options (which were not amenable to my schedule). Homeservice Plumbers was quick, to the point, and not pushy or demanding at all anytime I was talking to them. I scheduled for Tuesday between 12-2pm arrival, and Xavier, the first person who came out to see the problem, showed up in a timely manner (just before 12pm!) as he had another service call in the area. He was respectful of property (brought his own shoe coverings!) and was also pleasant to work with. Unfortunately he didn't have the tools, but he was the one to call in Nick who had the requisite tools for the job. He confirmed the service would be possible, and off he went. The next person, Nick was great to work with - he arrived promptly at 5pm (the quoted range was 3-5pm, which was perfectly reasonable), respected the property (brought his own shoe coverings, asked to use a small bowl to capture the grease drippings from the p-trap, and cleaned up after the work was done), and was able to provide a fair estimate for a high value of quality work. He finished by 6:30pm and confirmed the drain was working, and verbally confirmed (it's not on the invoice but I hope I never have issues again!) that there's a one year labour warranty - great deal! I never caught the phone "operators" name (my bad, she called me THRICE and I still never caught her name), but she was cordial, polite, and quickly handled my concerns for updates on when the plumber(s) would arrive. Scheduling through Yelp was simple and easy - and having no "service call" fee means there's no obligation to go through with anything you're not comfortable with. Anyway, short story (really) long: this company is on my list of "high quality work at a fair rate", because (1) they don't charge for service calls, which is a bold move in today's service-oriented environment, (2) they are reasonable with pricing given that I'd done some research beforehand, and (3) they verbally offered a warranty for their services, which means that they're willing to stand by the quality of their work. Call them today for your plumbing issues. Fair, honest, trustworthy service is hard to come by - the companies you see on the billboards aren't the only options in town!

I contacted multiple other plumbers and they all charged $35-150 just to visit and give an estimate (they "waived" this fee if you chose to hire them, which I think is their strategy). Rain City Plumbing was able to come out and take a look at my shower quickly, and they gave me very clear and transparent estimates for how much it might cost. The two gentlemen who came by were uniformed, neat, and very polite and patient when explaining things to me. They were respectful of my home, and took off their shoes without me asking (when they needed to go further into a carpeted area to look at the back of my wall). They also followed up with me later to offer me a discount on the cost of parts. When I told them I was waiting to hear back from some of the other plumbers I had contacted, they were understanding and they actually recommended that I shop around and get quotes. I really appreciate that they were very willing to educate me as a new home owner, instead of trying to take advantage of me. While I didn't hire Rain City Plumbing to work on my job in the end, it was purely because I got a more competitive rate elsewhere. I still would highly rate Rain City Plumbing because of the great customer service I received. Thank you!

Their staff (phone staff and on-site plumbers) are professional, communicate well and get the job done. I've never used them for Electric and/or HVAC so I can't speak to that.

An AI voice answered the phone, asked me why I was calling, told me it was going to look up my account details, said it had a problem and that someone would contact me to follow up, and then hung up on me. A few hours later I got a text from "Cameron". I complained to "Cameron" about the experience I had from the AI phone answerer. "Cameron" apologize and told me that such an experience would frustrate him too...then "Cameron" decided to be transparent with me and tell me that he was in fact AI as well and "his" real name was "Carson". We went back and forth about 6 times to explain the problem I was having and to set up an appointment. Then "Cameron" told me that the time we worked out wasn't confirmed yet and that someone would be calling me to confirm the time. Thanks, "Cameron". This was Friday around 4:00PM. THE NEXT MORNING, a human being (I think) texted me from the same number to confirm the appointment. After I let them know how unhappy I was with the AI scheduling service, a human (I think) did call me and apologized for it. Then, on the day of the appointment, the technician arrived an hour and a half after the 12:00-16:00 window we had set up. I had to call them at 16:30 to ask if the technician was coming and they told me he would be there soon. When he did arrive, in the middle of me making dinner for my family, he told me that the faucet would need to be replaced and that it would be $750 (!!) in labor to fix it. Then I was charged $83 for his time (which I guess would be rolled into the service). So, in the end I still had a leaky faucet and I was out $83 with the option to pay $670 to replace a faucet (plus the cost of the faucet itself). For that price, I'm just going to do it myself. Then the spam texts started coming from "Cameron" asking about the estimate. I got one every day until I told it to stop texting me. This company used to be great but I'm going to be looking around the next time I need a plumber. Please ditch this stupid AI system. Please don't charge your customers if you're extremely late for your own four hour window - especially if the diagnosis takes five minutes and is "I can't fix it - replace the faucet".

As this wasn't an emergency, the dispslatcher said it would be today or tomorrow before a plumber would be sent. He was sent today. Sean called and arrived early afternoon and looked at the repair. He presented us three options and solid estimates. We chose the middle one and then decided to also ask about a toilet replacement. Again, Sean presented us options and we agreed to one He gave us. As he didn't have the toilet on his repair truck, Bee's dispatched an employee with a new toilet. Sean was very professional in his work, answering questions as he proceeded with the work. He mentioned a couple of things that needed replacing due to their aging. We agreed to have them replaced. When Sean presented the invoice, it was exactly as he stated. At no time did he try to "upsell" items were didn't need, unlike other plumbing firms in this area that are heavy TV advertisers. I would recommend Bee's Plumbing to anyone that ask! Thank you, Sean! The small amount of interior plumbing where the line came into the house was very clean. Super neat solder joints. Andy had good suggestions about replacement of the remainder of my old galvanized piping. Communication and bid process were very clear. We…read morefound Akers through a reference from another plumber giving us a quote for interior work as part of the same overall project, who told us that while he would be willing to do the exterior/trenchless work himself, we should really contact this company (Akers) he knew, that it was their bread and butter. We did decide to use Akers, and overall we were very pleased with that choice. The factors that most won me over from their estimate was the clear level of expertise and familiarity that Ryan showed, along with the confidence from knowing that someone who was going to be doing the work was the one evaluating the situation. As an example, the path from the meter to our house crosses under the driveway as well as intersecting with our neighbor's side-sewer in an easement. Plenty of other plumbing companies expressed they'd have no trouble dealing with the situation in a trenchless run, but only Akers went as far as pointing out the exact spots they'd dig their pits and how that pathing would make sure there was no chance of boring through the side-sewer. Similarly, Ryan was the only one to point out how the existing line was part of our electrical grounding, and discuss using copper for a suitable distance outside the house before the switchover to PEX in order to keep things functional and compliant. In terms of contracting/business-ops there some amount of looseness that a larger company might not display (minor delays in sending documents, nebulous arrival time on the day of the work) but nothing that was really problematic, and I'd certainly rather have the tiny hiccups of working with real humans versus some overly-polished private-equity machine. Traci was gracious and clear when responding to my inquests, even over the weekend when she was self-admittedly out of town, which is above and beyond in my book. In terms of price I think they were perfectly fair, they weren't the lowest quote we had, but landed slightly below most of the other numbers we got, not anything where I felt like I was getting an enormous steal, but I had no qualms about the number they asked. The actual project work itself went great, they had the entire replacement done on one day in about 5 or 6 hours with minimal disruption, and even took the time to keep the top sod layer for each pit relatively intact in order to replace, so that by the time they left, you could barely tell where they had dug. The minimal interior work that was part of the project (new hole through the foundation concrete, new main shutoff valve and hookup to the rest of the interior plumbing) was similarly spotless. If we ever need similar outdoor plumbing work in the future, Akers is going to be an easy first call for an estimate.
