There are musical and dance performances -- with the singers, dancers, and presenters being decked out in Ukrainian-style clothes -- savoury and sweet foods, and vendors selling clothing, paintings, and all kinds of arts and little souvenirs ... not to mention an indoor exhibit about the war and several areas for photo-taking with beautifully arranged fabrics, flowers, wheat, and other traditional Ukrainian garments and objects. Not only that, but everyone is friendly and caring, making for a real community feel. I went all three days! It was not boring for one second. It's also a nice open space in which to walk around, to wander and browse, see cute kids and dogs, and sit at a blue tablecloth-covered table and eat while gazing at the fresh yellow flowers in the centre .... If you happen to attend wearing the yellow and blue of the Ukrainian flag, you will be in great company! Looking for some vyshyvanka? There are shirts for women, men, and children plus dresses and vests .... Plush of Mriya, ducks with little vests, keychains, bracelets, and so much more is available! So many of the arts and crafts were made by people who are at the festival themselves so you can meet the artists, and sometimes the wares are being sold by the crafter's family members. It's a real family event! Hairbands with flowers (vinok), hand-painted wooden hair clips, dolls, socks, tie-on pockets -- so many things it's a stretch to remember, let alone list them all! One might say this is a festival filled with much 'eye candy!' A feast for the eyes! A feast, in fact, for ALL of the senses! Many of the vendors are raising money for non-profits, too -- and the festival itself is a fundraiser, an awareness-raiser, and I'd say it's an aesthetic sense-raiser, too!

There were tons of food booths, all from area Turkish restaurants. Glad to see this instead of generic festival food. I really wanted to try Cafe Divan's food but their line was impossibly long. I'll definitely visit their restaurant since they were so popular here. Belly dancing introductions, Turkish music, etc on the main stage along with vendors carrying all sorts of nazars, towels, and other items. I want to go back to Turkey now! Visit this festival if you can. Held yearly.

"In April 2016, the readers of the Washington City Paper voted the Turkish Festival as the "Best Cultural Festival" and "Best Festival of DC." There is everything you could possibly want at a festival like this but most importantly, the food. There will be stuff that you'll recognize and stuff that you won't but I encourage you to try more of the latter than the former. Just look at what other people are eating and go and find that. One thing that everyone can seem to agree on is the sugar cane juice. It's fresh - it's delicious - and it may be good for you...who knows? They offered a free bag of popcorn, books, and resources to parents via a program through the University of Maryland. Story time is about 45 minutes, the story is on the big screen. There are dance breaks for the more active kids (mine), and there was puppet too. I think Greenbelt Cinema is awesome for pouring into the community and I will continue to support!

They have a rewards program that I signed up for while there awaiting the movie to start and the manager was not then happy to tell me about. They seek adult beverages as well which is nice and I was able to get my unsalted popcorn which was awesome but it did come in a smaller portion size than what I'm used to. The movie was a lot better than I had expected and I loved they had Christy and the screen writers there. What an awesome opportunity this was.

AFI is a delight because they provide access to an incredible catalog of films and, as a cinephile, you'll find yourself consuming them with fellow addicts. How often have I come here for something like a 1940s Italian neorealist black and white on a weeknight and felt to myself like here with these people I belonged? You can't beat it. This is a theater that takes film seriously, that loves film. It doesn't really matter if I drive or metro, it's a hike either way...and yet I just keep coming back more and more often because there aren't many treasures of DMV arts and culture that beat AFI.

I just can't get over how massive this place is with activities for adults and kids alike. There are multiple stages, and the jousting show is truly impressive. My kids enjoy the juggling, all the puzzles, and of course, dressing up as princesses and princes. There is a lot of food on site. Overall, it's okay. I wouldn't say its the best food, but a good variety. There is also alcohol for purchase including wines, beer and of course, ancient mead. Some of the standouts on our latest visit was the free pony rides, and the rock wall. My son also liked playing the many games throughout the festival. One important tip: make sure you bring cash. Many of the vendors accept Apple Pay, or as they call it, sorcery. But you'll still find many vendors such as the soda/water vendors only taking cash.

This review is for the Around the World Cultural Food Festival that was held in Alexandria, VA…read more(2025). Upon hearing about this event from a friend, I was super excited because 1. I like eating (maybe too much); 2. I like trying different cuisines; and 3. I like the ease of having multiple cuisines in one place. The 9th annual festival was held in Oronoco Bay Park in Old Town Alexandria. Overall, I thought the event was successful in educating folks about different cultures through food (yum) and performances (yay). There were about 30 or so vendors (mostly Asian and Latin American with a sprinkling of African) giving us the best they had. I appreciated that all of the food vendors were located more or less in one area. There were also vendors selling various non-food products, but they were located on the other side of the park. I thought this set up did not make the event feel too congested with folks trying to buy food and non food items. Overall, the vendors prices were decently priced for the event. While the park is normally pretty clean, I though there was a lot of washed up debris on Potomac River side of the park. Also, I thought the organizers could have placed more trash cans through the park/event. Fortunately, many of the attendees did not toss their trash on the ground and held on to their trash until they found a proper place to dispose of it. Although there were a few tents with tables, if you are a local, it might be best to bring your own lawn/folding chairs. While there were a limited number of tables, many folks were more than willing to share. The park has plenty of surrounding parking garages with various prices; however, I saw plenty of free street parking a few blocks away from the event. I'll admit that I was a bit disappointed with accessing the website through my phone. While it might be better if the organizers could make the website more mobile-friendly, I guess this will not be too big of a deal for me in the future since I know the ins and outs of the festival.

It's always clean, calm, and drama-free every time I come here. Plus, there's plenty of parking, which already makes the experience less stressful before you even walk inside. The seats are HUGE and super comfortable, perfect for a relaxing movie night. Service is efficient, bathrooms are easy to access, and overall the theater experience is consistently solid. I genuinely have no complaints about this location. It has also been one of my go-to quick movie date night spots with my man too Definitely one of my preferred theaters in the area.

For all of those reasons and more, my friends and I choose the AMC Center Park 8 Theatre on 4001 Powder Mill Rd in Beltsville.
