Here is my Christmas gift to you all -- a review! I hardly go to the movies, so I still haven't gone to one of the luxury ones that really make you feel VIP. I see one to three movies a year, so I will just hit a matinee or a discount day at any given theater nearby. I haven't been to AMC Greenbelt in years! Since I was off, I caught a matinee showing. I was in the mall the night before, and was able to get my ticket then. When I came the next day, I walked right in. No one even checked my ticket, but I was an earnest customer, and would have been happy to show mine if someone showed up. Do they not pay attention when it's not crowded though? How curious. The previews had already started, so it was dark. But from what I could tell the theater was clean. And those reclining seats are oh so comfortable! The sound was great, and it's always a better experience when the movie you go to see is amazing. I don't think I've ever shown up at peak time, but I see no reason to avoid this theater if you're nearby and want to see a movie with comfy reclining seats! Merry Christmas! read more

The worst ....pre-order food with on-line ticket purchase for a specific pick-up time and get there, food isn't ready. Still have to stand in line and wait and then the staff is all over the place, disorganized. Get my nachos and ask for jalapeño peppers only to be told that it's 52cent extra. Really, didn't show that when I ordered on-line! Well I wasn't about to pull out a card for 52 cents how about you just give them to me. After having to wait 10mins for the order that was supposed to be ready for pick up and wasn't. I'm only here because my mom wanted to go to the movies. While the service, the guy that checked us in and the two people that took our food orders were nice it ended there! I went to use the restroom and many of the toilets weren't flushed the others had bio waste covering them. Needless to say I pasted on using the restroom. So on to watching the movie in auditorium 6 a bug was crawling across the projector and we kept seeing a shadow on the screen! While I know that no theater is perfect, I won't be coming back here again! read more

Purchase tickets online. We sat in row C or D I believe. This row also had a "Back" to it, meaning there was like a wall behind us blocking from the Top row from seeing us or etc. The seats include to about 180 degree. Comfy. Plenty of space between shared seats. The line for food was pretty long, but the workers were amazing and patient!!! I had the chicken tenders were huge, tasty, fresh and filling! The kids popcorn pack came with a small popcorn, small cup and a pack of gummies We had a great time at the opening night of Super Mario Brothers! read more

This is the first visit to a movie theater since COVID for me. And I had to pick this location. It's not a totally bad location to visit, but there are a few things that you will need to be on the lookout for. Especially if you want to enjoy your movie experience. The biggest, and most important, is seat selection. I give them props for allowing you to select your seat. It allows you to choose where you think you will get the most out of viewing experience. However, there is a downside to this. You may think that you are going to get the best seat possible, but if you get there early you may think you got a single seat in an island of seats. Then you have to remember, anyone that comes after you can take whichever seat around you and you will not be alone. Come too late, and the seat selection is limited. A thing to note about this theater is that the seats are kind of luxurious. They are nice, big, and recline, giving you some of the best seating available. They also allow for you to share a spot with your next door neighbor...which is odd when you come here by yourself. Prior to entering the theater, and in my own little world, I purchased some snacks to hold me over for the movie. I got myself a popcorn and soda and made my way to my seat. I settle in and find that I had ample room to both sides. I though great, this will be a great experience. As the movie neared closer, my bubble is burst. Someone ended up selecting the seats next to me, so no sprawling out and no leaning to the one direction. That didn't bother me much as I was still going to be enjoying the movie. What was annoying throughout the movie was that other people in the aisle kept getting up throughout the movie and exiting the aisle. Didn't appear to be for anything in particular, but just to get up and move around. It was annoying that you couldn't just sit and watch the movie. Even with excuse me, it was still a nuisance. You can tell that there were people here to not really see the movie. There was tons of conversations going on and that made for hearing the movie a bit hard. Honestly, as an overall experience, it wasn't horrible. But it wasn't enough for me to want to come back to this location. Especially since there are plenty of other theaters in the area. read more

I enjoy the low-key vibe of this theater and the reclining seats. But recently went to see The Nun II, apparently first showing of the day. Bought seats online. I get in the theater room and cant sit in my seat cuz there's trash in it, i look down the empty aisle and there's trash in half the seats, one of the seats were reclined. I was kinda disgusted. Asked an employee if they weren't cleaning between films and he said he didnt know, it was the first show of the day. So that stuff was there from the prior day??! Clear lack of staff- nobody at concessions. Decent theater in a pinch but wouldnt plan for a 'nice theater experience'.. read more

Went to see Doctor strange. I don't usually cone to this theater. I ordered my ticket online made it very easy. Seeing as the show started at 10 it was late yes it is in a mall but it reminded me of largo early 20's kids running thru theater obviously tickets were only checked for some because I asked for one to get out of my seat. Recliners a little outdated. Premium popcorn stale. Fresh popcorn not so fresh. Bathrooms trifling. Like the air ducks black dust mold on floors and sinks. Like Idk. This theater has gone downhill. For the prices paid they need to replace their seats. The seats are extremely worn and it's uneasy resting your head on such worn seats. We waited in the hallway while the theater was being cleaned and it still was trash in the cup holders and popcorn on the floors. And the sound system is awful. Do better AMC!! read more

AMC's are our go to theaters. Large reclining chairs with cupholders, clean theaters, and the app is also great, plus, they're super friendly there! Tickets can be purchased thru the application, and seats can be selected through the app. This theater is a bit of a hidden gem in Wheaton, which is fine by me. Hopefully they've switched back to their must have Tostitos brand Nachos. The last time I ordered them (several months ago) the brand was different, and not my fav (maybe a supply chain issue). Not being picky for picky sake; honestly the off brand really had a meh taste and crunch. Anyway! Try the place out. We go every week or two! read more

Great experience! Thank you Yelpers for your reviews which motivated me to try this theatre. It's located in a shopping center with lots of food options close by if you want to grab a bite or make it a dinner with movie night. There's Chipotle, Wendy's, two bbq restaurants (sorry I forgot the name of them), Popeyes, McDonald's, and Baskin Robbins. There's more but honestly can't remember the rest. Although I'm an AMC rewards member I decided to buy my ticket and choose seating there due to the other reviews I read abt picking seats online. I knew the theatre wasn't going to be full. They had same movie showing in two different theatre within 15 mins apart. Plus it was a Sunday evening. Ticket line was short and no issues picking my seat. I got my preferred choice of last row in the back with no one next to me. Now that I'm kinda familiar with the theatre next time I'll choose seating online. I found the theatre overall to be clean including in the bathroom. Concession area by the drinks and self serve butter could use some attention but nothing major. Held back a star for that reason. However, they look like they were a little short of help as I eventually saw the same girl who sold my ticket also helping out in the concession area. The popcorn was freshly made as they had just finished popping when I ordered. It was tasty along with my Icee. Food prices and selection is the typical standard for a movie theatre. Solid 3.5 stars experience. Having never been to this theater before, I ventured here last night to check out a new movie on opening weekend. This theater had tickets to the show, and allowed us to reserve our seats in advance, which is always our preference. When we arrived, there weren't many people in the ticket line, so we were able to quickly scan our tickets that we purchased online and made a bee-line to the concession stand. If you know me, you know I'm pretty blunt, so I asked the cashier if the popcorn was fresh (LOL). She confirmed that right before we got there was a rush of people, so it indeed had been freshly popped. Great! I ordered a medium, and sure enough, the popcorn was good! Then we headed into the theater, which I didn't realize was so intimate. There were like five to seven rows. I really enjoyed the recliner chairs, but the cup holders were not ideal. On one chair it was on the right side and on the chair right next to it, it was on the left side. Not ideal for sharing, lol. Nonetheless, the movie experience was a positive one, save the babies/little kids in the theater who kept making noise (whyyyyyyyyy). I did dock a star (and a half) because of ambiance. This theater is on the back end of a mall-of-sorts. Simply put, it looks dingy. However, appearances aside, the theater has done a good job with its renovations, and I hope it continues to keep up its amenities. read more

I am an AMC Stubs A-List member. I spend $25.25 each month for my membership. During the month of July I saw movies that would cost $80 and I could have seen more. I love the big screen and the staff at AMC Academy 8 in Greenbelt and AMC Magic Johnson at the Boulevard are the best. read more

On a rainy unseasonably cool Friday, a friend and I decided to catch a movie. This theatre was recently renovated so I was amenable. We arrived at 9:45am and found a long line of guests waiting and no one in the box office. There were no other employees visible, so we joined the long line despite buying tickets online. Perhaps the line kept growing because today is opening day for Dead Pool 2, which is what we were going to see. Once we made it to the front, we were advised that the Concession stand won't be open because he's the only one working and he has to stay at the booth... I didn't have an opportunity to eat before the movie so that was a bit disturbing. Nothing to eat or drink for 2.5 hours. The folks who had the forethought to smuggle food & drinks in were cool. What's the purpose is being of Premiere AMC member if you can't cash in on rewards, but I digress... I like the renovated theatre, it's still clean and modern with reserved comfortable reclining seats. I didn't expect a 10am showing to get packed, but despite the crowd we were comfortable. Dead Pool surpassed my expectations in terms of being outrageous and funny. This would have been a 4 Star review, but I must deduct for lack of resource planning & regard for the customer experience. AMC mgmt, please schedule more than 1 employee when there's a major movie release. We had to endure listening to the smugglers enjoy their snacks. read more

Went here last week to see the third Fantastic Beasts movie after Maryland Day at UMD. It's located in Beltway Plaza Mall, which I had no idea even existed. It definitely isn't the nicest mall in the area and oddly has a Giant grocery store as one of its anchors. First the pros: the tickets are cheaper here than many other theaters in the DC metro (including Tyson's and Wheaton), the reclining seats are comfortable, the closed caption device worked for me (unlike Tyson's where we spent more for it to not to work for our last AMC movie but got one readmit pass), and the theater room was smaller than typical which I felt was nice. Now the cons: No electronic ticket kiosk and few staff. Luckily the line was short or we would have missed part of the movie as there was only one person to get tickets from. The concession staff was understaffed as well and wasn't the most friendly but give them credit for working hard. They may have not applied a coupon correctly for a free soda. The bathrooms are also not the most well kept. If in the area, I may go back for the value but will be sure to allow time to get the tickets. read more

I went here today and it was ok. I read most of the reviews beforehand and decided to give it a try. I find it odd that you can purchase tickets online, but there still is no kiosk inside. More notably, there isn't an option to print tickets at home. We went inside to find our seats and it was pitch black. We had to use the flashlights on our phones to find our seats. The seats weren't the best, but not terrible. I used the restroom and was happy to find it was clean, especially because a prior review said it was disgusting. I am not originally from the area, but I have friends who are and I had previously heard about this theater. So, despite living near here, I would never visit. Then a coworker informed me they were renovating and so far, it was coming along nicely. So, on a last minute decision to go see Girls Trip, we decided to come here. It is still currently being renovated, so I may update this review when it is completed. However, so far, it is coming along nicely and it looks like it will be a very nice date night. There will be a bar and some other amenities. The theaters are clean and have reclining, spacious seats. However, my biggest concern was the customer service. It was lacking. The woman at the front was cold and not very friendly. Also, there were two very young children in the Girls Trip movie who were way too young for what was shown in that movie. Every time they heard an inappropriate word, they shouted "oooooh, she said Ass." At first it was cute, but as the movie progressed it was definitely a distraction and we missed some parts because the children and the adults they came with were loud and disruptive. That is not necessarily the fault of the movie theater, but it can probably inform you about the crowd, maybe? I don't know. I will be back and I plan to update this review. I wavered back and forth between a 4 and a 5. I wish we could award half points as well. #Yelp #Improvement. Dear readers, I was prepared to give this theater a 1 star review. It was absolute trash when I first visited. To add insult to injury, they started remodeling and the place began to resemble an episode Property Brothers/Fixer Upper/Flip or Flop. Much to my pleasant surprise, this place is nicely renovated. Well Done AMC 8. The staff is more courteous and the venue has a lot of clean lines. But wait, there's more. You get to choose your seating. The theater: Overly spacious, with clean reclining red leather chairs that allow you to stretch all the way out without blocking walk ways. Wow. What would make it a solid 5? Dine-in delivery to my seat. Still, I enjoyed my experience here. Because of the reno, I'll be coming here to watch more movies. read more

I give this place one star as it is currently being renovated; HOWEVER, this does not negate the fact of cleaning inside the movie theater once a movie is over. Popcorn and candy stuck in between the seats, broken 3D glasses, not to mention a stench that is indescribable. My boyfriend and I didn't even want to sit back in our chairs due to being afraid something was going to crawl on us and my boyfriend thought his clothes would be dirty upon leaving. I mean even the $1.50 movie theaters back in the day were cleaner than this. We came to see Wonder Woman at 10AM to beat the rush. Albeit we scored somewhat, we were listening to the ore-show with a black screen. I went out to ask if they happened to leave the cap on the projector and they said no that they will replay it once 10 hits as that is the time for he preshow.....it was 9:54AM.... I really hope I can hold out and get through this movie without constantly feeling as if something is crawling on me or that I will get up with an oil stain on my back or pants....!!! read more

Girlfriend and I tried to catch a movie here a few weeks ago. The audience was so disruptive that we had to leave before the movie was over as we could hardly hear it. On notifying the manager, Edward Collins, about the matter, he gave us lip service about promising to send us passes for a future showing. That was on November 7. Over three weeks later, and we have yet to receive anything. Edward has ignored my emails and when I try to call the theater, I am consistently told he is "unavailable." There are plenty of great theaters at which to catch a movie, and no need to frequent a location that doesn't care about customer service. I will never return. read more

Recently renovated, and hopefully even better soon. As of this moment, this is the best place to grab a comfy seat at the last moment. This will change once people realize that it's been redone. Pros- This theater now features reserved seating and recliners. The concession stand has some hot foods available. Everything is clean. The staff understands the theater's limitations and all try their best to stay happy. Cons- Internet issues keep this theater from having ticket machines. It's obvious that there are more renovations planned, as the lobby is oddly spaced. Ticket sales are not robust enough for a full staff, so the lines are longer than they should be. This is an AMC theater, and should have an easy 4 Stars. I know that it will in the future, but for the moment it dangles just below. If any one of the issues were improved- staffing, spacing, food choices, ease of ticketing, the rating would rise. Until then, I'll continue to take advantage of the availability of last minute seats in a theater that people don't realize exists. This theater is in a weird shopping center but is close to an amazing variety of wonderful things. Gus's Fried Chicken is a block away, as is a Mission BBQ. Silver Diner shares the parking lot, and it is minutes away from College Park. It is also an AMC theater, so has all of the advantages of the Stubbs program. Tuesday's are $5 per ticket at the box office all day long, loyalty points add up to free tickets, and you can upgrade your popcorn and soda sizes for free. They now even offer a free popcorn and soda for your birthday! Just remember to leave room for some of the amazing food options nearby. read more

Wow this movie theater has really upgraded since my last visit. I use to live in Greenbelt and this was where we use to always attend. They now have reclining seats. Very good movie snacks and the chili dog and cheese was just what I needed. Very good I must say. They have help yourself. drinks and my favorite ICEE I love the Blueberry its my favorite. Restroom area was clean and the theater was clean as well. I like now that you choose your seating. So I suggest if it's a new movie that you arrive very early. We had to sit in the front row even though it wasn't to bad I must say because our chairs reclined back to adjust so that we weren't uncomfortable. I would definitely return if in the Greenbelt area. read more

My 3 sons we're watching Bad Boys for life on 02/17/2020 my oldest son dropped his phone between the seat he used his brother light from his phone to locate it. He found his phone but what he discovered next is the nastiest most unsanitary and down right disgusting he found a dead mouse under his chair. After careful examination he was sure of what he saw. He took a picture and immediately told his brothers they had to leave the theater. He called me I made a phone call to the theater to speak with management. The first person I spoke with name was "Ed" he alleged he was the General manager. He offered no apology and even after I made notice to him 2 times of his lack of care, that he offered no apology he told me he had to do a investigation before apologizing. I was furious with his lack of concern and poor customer service skills. I had to almost come through the phone before he offered a very shallow and unbothered apology. I went back to the theater to receive a refund and was refunded the ticket amount and not the convenience fee. The manager that I had the pleasure of dealing with name was "Tre" she told me I had to contact AMC to receive the remaining balance of my refund. I was having a horrible experience at that time but I followed through to make contact with AMC through a 1-800 number. Once on the phone with a operator I was told I couldn't receive a refund for the connivence fee. At that point I gave her a ear full regarding my experience after a lengthy time on hold she came back to the phone and told me she was given a 1 time approval to refund my connivence fee. I strongly suggest anyone that considers going to AMC of Greenbelt to find another theater. The experience I described has by far been the worse treatment as well as experience ever in a theater read more

The entrance to the movie theater isn't well indicated if you are not coming from inside the mall. It is hard to believe it has been renovated AT ALL!!! Sadly enough my seat didn't recline and the movie was sold out so I couldn't go to another seat. The soda machine was out of Coke.... It looks like the place needs to be renovated and it apparently just has been! I usually go to the AMC Center Park 8 in Beltsville and it is WAAAAAAY BETTER!!! read more

Despite my years at UMD, I never ventured here to go to the movies before the remodel because of all the negative things I heard about it. I finally come here two weeks ago to see Black Panther, for a second time. I will admit, if I came here alone, I would have gotten lost trying to find the theater entrance. There is a big AMC sign in the front of the mall and but I never knew it was around the back of the mall. Seeing the sign, I would have been looking in the front for the movies. That's why I took away a star. The inside looks great. We preordered our tickets and reserved seats. I liked that they have the letters big enough to find the row and the seat numbers were well lit. The recliner seats were so comfy. This may be my official go to theater when I'm in Bowie with my boyfriend. read more

This theater is understaffed at each visit. Usually the ticket booth is not manned and there is no dedicated ticket taker available. Instead, the staff working the concession stand also serve as ticket takers and with two separate lines it adds to confusion as to who is next to be served and its quite annoying if you expected to be in your seat in a timely manner. read more

The location of the cinema and parking lot is convenient. The staff is caring because they treat you as they like their job. The facility is clean but personally I dislike the constant "burnt smell" It has happened every time even before this facility has the leather lay back seats but it always smells like burnt popcorn and that is an inconvenience. Perhaps the machine is messed up or not properly cleaned, but can be very upsetting for people with respiratory issues. That is a minor concern compared to the website issue which adds to an additional problem. I have had this issue happened to me 3 times. When you get tickets online and they show you the sit layout there is no "front" or "back" guidance but there is guidance for "screen" well if you follow the "screen" guide and get seats based on that you will get opposite from that. Every single time I have chosen the last row and when arrived we got seats for the very front row. That is very upsetting specially when you get tickets days and hours in advance then when you try to correct the situation because you think you made a mistake, there is no more tickets available. Then you have all your family attempting to watch a movie on the front row. Which leads to my second big issue, Why is the front row so inconveniently placed to trick you into buying tickets for a movie that no one in the front nor second row will enjoy? Obviously AMC corporate only cares to make $ vs actually giving you a good experience in the movies. Twice when this happened to me I was unable to switch tickets. This third time thankfully I was able to, and now I have learned, but the website is misleading, and when you arrive and realize the seat situation makes you doubt yourself and if you ended up pressing something wrong on the site etc. Other than those 2 main issues the place is fine. I love they sell wine and beer and the sizes for porocorn and snacks are perfect. read more

I like this latest incarnation of the movie theater here at beltway plaza. 3D options. Close to home. Empty during the week. Theater seating. However, the investment didn't bring competent management as the floors are as sticky as they ever were. It just doesn't inspire me to purchase food and concessions. So I go early and get my ticket so I can scarf down a subway sandwich down the way. Happy movie going. read more

This is the worst theater ever. Besides having an employee yell 'f*** you!' in my face, the theater was disgusting, my shoe got stuck to the floor because it was so sticky & when we went to sit in the theater at 9:10 for our 9:30 movie, it was disgusting. Popcorn, soda, trash everywhere. When we tried to talk to a manager, someone claimed to be a manager & was very disrespectful to me & when my husband stepped in to ask for a little bit of respect with how he was speaking to me, he screamed 'f*** you!' in my face to my husband & then sat there laughing, smirking & making faces, antagonizing my husband and trying to get him to react more. This was the dirtiest, most unprofessional & disorganized theater I've ever seen in my life. I'm beyond appalled at the way I was treated, especially as an AMC A-list member.
