It made me feel right at home! The visit itself was amazing. Dr. Schwenn did an amazing work up with x-rays (more than I've seen any chiropractor do), a weight bearing test to see how your alignment was, and a test for spinal inflammation to see exactly how your body is positioned. I liked the extensiveness of her work on me. She actually found some arthritis in my neck and upper back that no one else had mentioned before. The adjustment was awesome as well. Before I went to Dr Schwenn, I thought I was a hard person to adjust because it always took it insane amount of pressure from other chiropractors to get my spine to move. Dr Schwenn uses brain, not bran to get the results that we need. at one point she was working on my lower back/tailbone area she used an adjustment table that fell down underneath my stomach. It felt like she was barely doing anything and I thought it wasn't going to work, but after she was done I started to relief feel the effect of what she had done. it was so weird, she got results that I wasn't expecting her to get. She does really good work. Note for people on Medicaid: she takes it, so if you're having pain, come here!

Of course I can't say whether the medical professionals are actually any better at their jobs (fighting cancer) than any other office in the city, I don't have that data. Protocols differ depending on the type of cancer and they seem to be fairly standard. However, the compassion and professionalism at IBCC is far above standard. Side effects are expected with chemo, and most of them are pretty bad. You'd think the nurses and doctors here would accept that as par for the course, but they don't. They are genuinely concerned and look for a resolution when a patient tells them about an adverse effect from their chemical cocktail. A fridge and shelves full of room temp or cold snacks and drinks, pillows and blankets for those that get chilly, a massage therapist making her way around the room giving patients foot rubs, and a palpable happiness radiating off the staff all makes the time spent at chemo easier than it would otherwise be. My mom has said it a few times, and you can tell others feel the same; chemo isn't something you want to go through, but going through it at IBCC almost makes it enjoyable.
