I haven't been to Daytona in 19 years, but when we used to come every year in the early 2000s, this was the first spot we would go when we arrived. It did not disappoint this year!! We were there on a Saturday evening at 6 o'clock, and there was only one server working, but she killed it! The restaurant was very busy, but she did great at keeping up. Had the combo plate of pulled pork & brisket along with baked beans and potato salad. Presentation looked good, the aroma within the joint as you walked in smelled great. The quantity of food is ok for the pricing. The taste of the pulled pork was ok. Not a real strong Smokey flavor but it was good. Sadly it was a tad dry, needed to add sauce to it to give back some moisture that was needed. As for sauces: you had mustard sauce, Smokey sauce, sweet sauce and a spicy sauce. I tried three out of four, just did not care to try the spicy sauce. My favorite of the three I tried was the mustard sauce which had a rather sweet taste and a slight twang of the mustard. For me it was the best balance of sauce flavoring offered. The Smokey and Sweet sauces actually tasted really close to each other and not a real defining differences. Then for the brisket, it looked good, nice small line of bark on it. Sadly though just by looking at it, I could tell this was dry and over cooked. Very small smoke ring at the edge and the meat was completely over done and so dry when I cut it with my fork it broke into lots of pieces, not because of it being tender but it was so dry. Had a hard time using my fork to stab it and wound up using my spoon to gather it up to eat because it broke up so much. Taste was not bad outside of the dryness. Way disappointed in this joint. Had the makings and smells of a great place. Just very dry meat with the pork and brisket. And others eating with us had a burger and it was over cooked and dry as well. The baked beans had a ok flavor, but needed help so I injected some money sauce to help and that worked. The potato salad was very plain and no real flavor sadly. I love potato salad and wish I chosen another side item that this. Service was good and not too bad. Little slow since there was pretty much no one in the joint. But they were nice folks. In between volleyball games I snuck out to check this place out. I typically don't go to restaurants solo but I was hungry and also wanted to watch some football. This place had a great selection on the menu. I went with the brisket baked potato. It was so good and very filling. I used the sweet bbq sauce and sour cream and it was a perfect blend. For starters they had only 2 servers working the whole restaurant inside and out. We got sat by the hostess/server. I don't know if he (Kevin) was just overworked or didn't want to be serve us ,but first impressions are important to say the least, considering we were the only black people in there for a while. Stayed at a hotel across the street while visiting for work. I did an online takeout order. Which does have you give email and phone number when placing order. Once my order was placed, I received a pickup time of 7:13pm. Walked into the restaurant at exactly that time. Multiple people said they would be right with me. A young lady eventually came over, and I let her know I was picking up a take out order. She looked behind herself to the kitchen and said it was not done yet. I found it odd that she didn't ask for my name or anything else. I kind of assumed that I was the only one who did and since she didn't see it, must not be done. 20 minutes goes by with me standing there waiting while they helped others. All while hearing the staff complain they were short staffed. I was then asked if I was sure I placed an order. I said yes, and tried to show my confirmation email. She then grabbed a ticket next to the register and asked if it was me. It was. She then said they were out of brisket and I shouldn't have been allowed to order. I let her know that's really not on me and said I could have received a call to let me know since they had my number. Instead they just put my ticket aside. One of the cooks came from the back and asked what I would like to substitute. I replied to tell me what you have. He said he would give me a little of everything. I said fine. He then verified my sides and went to the back. 10 minutes goes by and he brings me my food. I go back to the hotel and unpack the food. To my surprise, or possibly not surprise, no sides. I waited 20 minutes to pick up food and 40 minutes waited in the restaurant to get not what I ordered and missing items. Most had no taste or unpleasant taste. 2 stars at least for the wait staff who were short staffed and short on food. They were still pleasant in a bad situation. I did not call them to let them know as while I was there they stopped answering the phone as they said no more take out orders. read more

The bun on my sandwich was questionable, the batter tasted a bit different on the fried foods and the coleslaw was flavorless but I still enjoyed everything. Tony and I kept passing this restaurant the entire time in Daytona Beach, it's located near the pier, boardwalk and pavilion area so it's really hard to miss. We went inside and was seated immediately! They have their own private parking lot that's Free to use which made it so much easier to get to. Tony ordered pitcher of beer and I got a coke with cherry and lime slices. We both ordered the daily special of half slab of pork BBQ, baked beans and mac n cheese.. pretty darn good stuff!!!
