(Whatever the inside looks like I don't know since our entire experience was outside.) Upon arrival this place looks quasi-like a nice hangout that you would have seen on Sons of Anarchy. A good number of bikes coming in and out and some fairly loud yukking it up by a few intoxicated patrons at the outside bar, but as John C. said, it's best not to judge a book by its cover. Service wise things struggled a bit as two of the inside servers were sort of kind of taking care of us and the bartender was also trying to but he was swamped. This led to some minor issues like half of the group getting their food at one time and the other half getting theirs a few minutes later or the round of drinks that came with the wrong drinks for the wrong people. Whatever. Hickory Burger - Blue Cheese Burger - Wings - Reuben The burgers and Reuben were all done as advertised and in particular the fries were well seasoned and done perfectly. The person who ordered the wings specifically asked for them to be made crispy and when they hit the table they were I guess you could say spongy. After a quick send back to the kitchen they came back with twice the garlic on them and tasting 100% of grill but they were certainly were um...crispy. Overall this is a decent spot in Ormond to grab some quick bar food favorites at reasonable prices. (Of course worth noting if you're a Steelers fan are the menu name drops to The Bus, Rocky Bleier, Big Ben and a few others. Neat.) read more

Exceptional local haunt. The drinks are lovely and you can ask for a foam cup on hot days, which makes a Bloody Mary or Margarita GLORIOUS!! Just trust me. Ian is a really cool bartender and he holds it down. The true outlier here is the FOOD! I think it may be the best burger in Ormond. Its that classic Old School 'Salt n Pepper' American cheese burger. Too big to order a double. Get it hot and EAT IN because its a little less fat than most 'thick burger'' style patties. Bun is out-of-bounds, I don't know where they get them. I accidentally ordered the boneless wings and they were crazy good (still crispy in the box after an hour of travel, which is CRAZY) . Always a cool spot and super Divey. If you are on this road do the 'Iron Horse' and here and you will be delighted. read more

Let me just tell ya these wings are night and day better over hooligans & I didn't think that was possible but let me tell ya these grilled wings were legit & I had them with bbq. Must-visit if you live or are just passing through Ormond. They have a large outside bar/seating area which I'd recommend but also have a smaller inside bar as well. The inside definitely has that Florida "dive bar" vibe so if that's your thing - you'll find it here! Drinks at Pirana are awesome - strong and served with a smile. It may take a bit for the bartender to get to you but just hold tight, it's worth it! It doesn't look like much from the outside, typical biker bar, but the hamburgers are out of this world. My absolute favorite is the peanut butter burger, sounds strange but wow! There is an indoor bar and an outdoor bar as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Whenever I come to Ormond Beach this is a must go to restaurant. Great food and a super friendly staff this roadside bar and grille resides in an old fruit and gift shop, which still has a fruit shipping office on site. 21 burgers on their menu including the bus #36 their Challenge Burger, with 3 lbs of beef amd six different cheeses then piles high with toppings including onion rings and a fried egg. Not for the feint of heart or people worried about being yelled at by their doctor. Try your bacon cheese burger with added pepperoni. I have been going here for 15 years. Always had good food and service. But today was different. The waitress got order wrong. Ok dealt with that but my burger was extremely salty. After 2 bites I had my son taste he spit out was so salty. Went right thru me. We sat with no water i was so thirsty. The waitress cheryl said she's manager was very rude. Asked if I wanted it redone but walked away. Asked if we wanted chk I said I'd like something to eat and drink. So sad. I said I'm not paying for burger I couldn't eat she said she'd call cops. I watched the Stealers play today and had 1/2 doz old bay seasoned peal n eat shrimp w fries it was delicious and the shrimp were cooked perfect. This is a common stop for many on US1 during bike trips so there is always a fair number of motorcycles out side and it can look like a biker dive bar but you will be surprised when you enter. We LOVE this place. The food is delicious and the staff is so friendly and caring. It's a family business and they treat you as if you are one of their family members (a family member that you really like!). I gave in and am so happy that I did! They are very accommodating to your personal food preferences etc. They make great suggestions. We go there at least once a week. Their wings are very meaty and delicious. We get them grilled with the Gene sauce (a little bit of everything). They have 21 burgers and I would consider them gourmet burgers. Food was TERRIBLE! Never again! Tried this place for lunch on a Tuesday. The lunch special was bbq ribs with side of coleslaw. The best thing on the plate was the one small piece of garlic bread. Horrible sauce, barely edible ribs and I've never had coleslaw that tasted like plain grated wet cabbage. My husband and I went to check out this restaurant on a Tuesday evening. We sat outside and were enjoying the setting. After a couple cocktails we were hungry so I went inside for a menu. The girl said someone would be out to take our order. After 15 minutes and no one showing up, I went inside to make an order, starting with appetizers. No better place in town for a hamburger. My favorite is the one with peanut butter and bacon, which sounded so strange to me at first but now I love it! The restraunt had a great style. I loved all the games and posters on the wall. The table was a bit sticky and the menus had not been cleaned. The food was okay, I had a cheeseburger. One thing about the food was the vegetables were not fresh, frozen. The wings weren't great either. After we were done with our food and ready to leave, we had a credit card ready to make our payment and leave. We waited for more than 20 minutes for our waitress to take my card and pay. After a terribly long wait, to our surprise we saw our waitress eating a sandwich, outside behind the counter. After another 10 minutes she came over. I really needed another refill but she failed to do so. She very obviously forgot about us and that we needed her assistance. My Mother, step Dad and Myself went to Pirana's for a bite to eat. They have a dinner entree called Fish of the Day. I asked my waitress what the fish of the day was and she said swai. I asked her what it was the day before and she said swai. Then I asked does it ever change and she said no. So I said so its not fish of the day its fish of forever and she replied basically. Then my mom orders a half a pound of peel and each shrimp. We get our order and my mom said that looks like a lot for 1/2 pound. Waitress says nothing. As we finish our meal the waitress comes up and says I made a mistake and rang you up for a full pound of shrimp. My mother did not ask for a full pound but received it and then was charged for something she did not ask for. I will never go back to this place. read more

The Pirana Grille did not disappoint. 4 of us had burgers and 1 had wings. I have to say my hamburger was not the best I ever had but it was close to the top. The person that got the wings loved them. The lady that took care of us was wonderful. It was early afternoon and they were not very busy so we sat and visited for over 3 hours and she kept filling our drinks. The next time I'm in Florida we will definitely come back. read more
