It was just serviceable. Fried pickles were mid. My son liked his fried shrimp, but the brisket and the Brussel sprouts were just really bland. They just seemed boiled. The staff were all friendly enough and it seemed to be more of a bar atmosphere. read more

We have been ordering from Hog Wild for the past 6 years. Midlothian to Oak Lawn. We ordered from them last Monday. Ribs were $38 a slab and I am okay with that as long as you get top shelf ribs. We came here last Sunday with some friends. Seems to be a popular place for any locals. I wasn't the biggest fan just from my brisket being overly chewy. My husband said his pork chop was dry as well. Other things were good though, like their cornbread and baked beans. I'm not opposed to going back. I would probably just get chicken. read more

Being from the Southeast side of Chicago, I'm accustomed to ribs and tips Being a certain way, with the meat being grilled over a fire, not boiled then put in an oven. This meat, the ribs and tips had no flavor, however the sauce was amazing. With the meat being prepared like it was we really couldn't enjoy it, the texture and composition of the meat wasn't what one would expect from a barbecue establishment. The service was nice and the place has a comfortable ambiance. If you go, don't order the ribs or tips, get a hamburger instead, they looked amazing. We had our 10th wedding Western themed anniversary party catered by Hog Wild. Everyone said the food was delicious. Our guests ate hearty and took plates to go! Even the children ate seconds. I swear it was the size of a 1/2 Cornish Hen. Over cooked too. I think they give you plenty of sides to make up for the tiny chicken portions. Went there with some friends, service was good, food was just okay. Got home and a few minutes later I threw up everything I ate and that was the only thing and time I ate. We have to handle and store food properly so you can avoid food poisoning!!! Even vegetables can be exposed to bacteria so they have to be kept clean. Portobello mushrooms need to be prepared properly, why did my sandwich look like it had dirt on it? The bottom was not scraped. The service was horrible!! I go up front to get my order taken and don't get me wrong the cashier was lovely but the lady behind her was plain rude! I visited Hog Wild recently expecting a wonderful experience because of a recommendation. Allow me to enlighten you on my experience. The service was exceptional. The young lady at the front counter was very pleasant and helpful.. The only thing I fault her on was telling me that I would totally enjoy the food. I ordered a full slab of ribs, barbecue chicken with sides of baked beans, coleslaw, and their roasted potatoes which are similar to fries but cut in squares. The desserts were turtle cheesecake and carrot cake, neither of which made my heart sing. Honestly, the only thing I didn't have a complaint about was the bottle of Pepsi that I purchased to go along with the food. I ordered barbecue chicken. It was not barbecued, didn't have barbecue sauce on it not even barbecue sauce packets in the bag; NOTHING barbecue about it existed. The ribs did not taste like they were put on a grill; they tasted like they were cooked in an oven. I know the difference there was no smoky flavor whatsoever they didn't even use liquid smoke in the barbecue sauce. I spent $70 plus here and have to say that I feel like I got robbed! I've passed by Hog Wild so many times but finally bit the bullet and tried it. I wasn't sure about it but was pleasantly surprised. Their window mentioned that they have the best pork chops around so I got the pork chops. I wish it was cooked in sauce but that's a personal preference. The char was super good though just wish I got more sauce on the side to eat with the pork chop. Something I didn't expect was the beans have hot dog slices in it. They are on the sweeter side too. So if those things aren't your taste preference then the beans might not be for you. I'd go back to try their bbq chicken. Also a nice thing they didn't need to do is that I had ordered with Uber Eats and the cashier told me just order off their website to avoid all those extra fees. Saves me some cash! read more

I am not a big believer in how a restaurant looks, only the food that hits the table. This is a fast food BBQ place and it's flagship location- now out of business- was awesome. Not so much this locale. The food was fair. The brisket was outstanding, but you really can't screw up brisket unless you try hard. But the brussels sprouts were as mushy as oatmeal...they should not boil or steam, but roast them and give them a crunchy aspect which would be much better. The french fries were hot and crispy, no problems there. The corn was mushy, but that's what you get with frozen corn in a pot of water. The bread was atrocious. Stale, cold, and horrible. I would have waited the extra four minutes it would have taken to throw the bread on a flattop and brush it with garlic butter before serving. This bread sucked. The service was a bright spot . They were very attentive to our needs and hope they take this review with the nature it was intended, to improve a pretty good place to eat. read more

My family has been going to Hog Wild since it was just a tiny little room with a kitchen. The expansion and remodeling was so huge. It's a very homey place with beautiful fish tanks and amazing food. I always have to get a pork chop, it's the juiciest and excellent when you dip it into the salty chop sauce. I also love the crispy potato wedges and their Mac and cheese. The best way to wrap up a meal at Hog Wild is with their lovely fresh apple sauce. It's cinnamony and full of chunky tender apples bits.
