    Shrimp étouffée
    Carl D.

Came here for a late lunch and order two different étouffée's one shrimp one crawfish very good highly recommend. The chicken tender dinner they don't skimp you get six chicken tenders for the price very well worth it. Everything was tasty hot with good service. This is definitely a place I would recommend.

Well I was surprised when I came here. In from out of town and wanted some good ole southern food. This was not what I expected. This is a bbq joint. But it was good bbq! I got the chicken enchiladas and was well satisfied! Amazing homemade mole sauce that I could have drank out of cup!

    Jambalaya w/ Blackened Shrimp

I had the jambalaya with shrimp and the presentation was great. I'm not sure why that stood out but I liked it. The dish was mild spicy and this is coming from someone who doesn't eat alot of spicy food so some might say it's more of a light spicy. But nevertheless the dish was delicious. I visited in late March and I was really cold. This is my only complaint. I ate fast just so I could get done and back to a warm environment.

Suffering from nutritional confusion as my hangry light was illuminated, I chose Chuck's for a Saturday afternoon lunch. There was plenty of parking and there were no issues finding a spot. Brief wait to be seated but the staff were warm and inviting. There is outdoor seating, a bar, table and booth seating. Thus making this a good spot for those dining alone, date night or groups. There are also themed nights for painting, karaoke and other merriment on a rotating basis. For an appetizer, we opted for the boudain balls and the rib tips with mild and spicy bbq sauce. There was a small misunderstanding as I didn't want the tips separated but the two sauces combined over the rib tips. Nonetheless, it gave us a chance to taste the sauces individually and each were good. The tips were tender and I found it to be an appropriate serving for an appetizer. The boudain balls were tasty and come with a remoulade sauce but are good without it. At this point, we had to rethink our entree choices and thought it'd be better to share a plate. I knew I wanted catfish and the spouse wanted brisket. I was surprised it wasn't a whole fillet but one cut in half. By choosing the two meat plate, it comes with two sides and we paid for a bun for the brisket to make a sandwich. The baked beans were good but I was expecting more of a BBQ sauce profile. The Cajun fries were decent and came out hot. Clearly eating with our eyes, we split a peach cobbler that comes with vanilla ice cream on top. Be careful eating pitted fruit dishes as small pieces of the pit may be present. This was the case when I bit down on a small piece of peach pit. For my drink, the patio pounder, I added some simple syrup as it tasted like it was missing something. It has almost the same ingredients as their Long Island Ice Tea except the peach liquor. I would opt for a different drink on a subsequent visit. Overall, good customer service and I would dine here again. A military discount is available on Thursdays. Capable of cash, card and you can pay at the table. There were no dining surcharges noted.

I'm always very hesitant to order ribs at barbecue places because they need to fall off the bone! I took a chance at this place and across the board the food was excellent! The ribs did in fact fall off the bone and from the first bite I knew I made the right decision. Great family vibe and the waitress was friendly and helpful when we ask questions about the menu. Macaroni lacked a little flavor but good, cornbread was a little dry but good as was the brisket, but despite all of this, none of it affected the overall meal experience. Afterwards for dessert we ordered the peach cobbler and ice cream, and it took us to the finish line. We were so happy, full and ready to take a nap afterwards. We would definitely go back again!

Two meat sampler that comes with two sides.

This is one place that tries to cover food from every part of the south with its own twist on things. Chucks is a good place to check out if you have that picky eater and especially if that picky eater frowns upon buffets. Despite not having bbq in its name you know what you are in for when there is a pig on there sign. We decided to check this place out and the menu was pack with options. I started off with a Front Porch Tea which is basically a LIT. I always say I like to start off with the basics to see how a place does with the simple things. Hey if you can get the basics right then the foundation is there. For an appetizer I decided to try the tip, just the tips, the rib tips with half being mild bbq sauce and the other half being spicy. We also got the boudin balls. I wish that they had just the boudin links but this was still good. I am not the biggest fan of rib tips but they are popular in Chicago and you could actually make this app your full meal. Pretty good I will say and actually more meat on the tips than I am use to when compared to many other Chicago bbq spots. We actually just ended up sharing the two sampler meal because the appetizer was that fulfilling. For our meal we went with the sampler consisting of fried fish, shredded pork, fries and baked beans. I added a bun to make a shredded pork sandwich and with the bbq sauces at the table you can customize it with various flavors. I was not disappointed and had plenty of the pork leftover. The portion sizes will not leave you thinking that you got cheated. This place has some of the most reasonable prices I have seen in a long time. Service was great and this is a place I would easily frequent again. That is saying a great deal with the Chicago area having so many options that this place stands out to me. A solid four star place to checkout. Oh, and I almost forgot. Despite being full we went with dessert for once. That is something we hardly ever partake on and we made a great decision getting the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. So good.

Soup was a special item... bowl-licking delicious to the last drop!!! I especially enjoyed the roasted seeds as well as the chunks of squash!! Yummy!! Dinner entrees are a must have for both of us!! Oscar was attentive & smart! An all around waiter. He was bouncing everywhere! Christmas music in the form of light jazz.

Another delicious meal. Been here for a party and came again tonight for dinner. The food was good and well worth it. We ordered rib tips appetizer and BBQ nachos. The nachos are a great sharing appetizer. The meat was tender and chips were delicious. Rib tips were so good. We had the back area and we ate, talked and laughed. For a Friday it wasn't too busy. When the food came we were so excited and kinda full from the appetizer. Will be back. There's a loyalty program.

Food was great. For the price it's worth it. Make sure to pick your right sauce or asked for recommendations if not sure what to go with. Service was great and quick. Ambiance was decent and comfortable enough to enjoy the food.

Best pulled pork I've had since I moved from Alabama. Finally a place that doesn't overdo it. Also had lean brisket both were great.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman behind the counter. He was friendly and very helpful as I was obviously there for the first time. The place has got an Old West theme; probably left over from the 70s or 80s, but that's why I love it more. Plenty of seating inside but I opted to sit outside on the picnic tables out front. I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw, beans, and a side of fries. There was a fair amount of brisket on the sandwich itself. So much so I was surprised it was very tasty and pretty moist. Could have been a wee bit moister. I wasn't as crazy about the beans but I think that's a matter of taste. Something in the seasoning. That being said, the fries were amazing! I'm not usually really concerned about french fries but every single one of these were crispy and had the perfect amount of salt. I also very much liked the creamy coleslaw. I look forward to coming back and trying the ribs and maybe some Greek specialties.

I've had their BBQ ribs and other items in the past, but decided to try their Beef Brisket Sandwich. The sandwich had a fair amount of brisket, and I especially liked how they lightly toasted the roll, similar to an Italian beef roll, nice and chewy. It's counter service, and when your order is ready, they announce your number on your receipt. Gemato's is a good place for families or large parties with plenty of seating.

The ordering process via ipad was easy; we just passed it around and hit the submit button at the end. The sauce bar had a lot of choices, and they had a small dessert bar as well. Overall, it's just what you'd expect so there are no hidden charges like "broth charge extra", etc like Happy Lamb. Meat and vegetable quality was good overall; fresh. Our server Mimi was on point and was great at her job, so kudos. Two things that were slightly annoying which prevented the 5 star rating were: 1) 18% gratuity for party of 5 or more; just another way to apply a price adder I guess. 2) photographer took our photos then then tried to sell us each framed picture for $20 each. A bit dear, and I would've bought them if they were $10 ea. Other than that, it's a nice place to have a meal.

Pros: The place was clean, the food was quality, the service fast, and friendly. Cons: Two sets of tongs for a family of four. All the sauce ingredients with no measurements on the listed recipes. I do have my own base stir-fry sauce I do at home that I was able to make. - The Sauce and tongs is why a one star deduction. The favorite was definitely the grill. Their base marinades don't need sauces. I did use my aforementioned sauce to flavor things like the plain chicken one of my kids ordered. Hot Pot: 1 Miso and 3 Toms. Two of us thought the Tom was not good. One thought it was okay. The Miso was liked... but as the youngest chose it and was randomly throwing stuff in there... Well her cooking skills need help, but that's not on them. Overall it was a better experience than I expected, even being the one to cook 90% of it. It was a good fun family outing. If/when we do this again, I'll likely ask if I can try other soup bases. Maybe using their mini sauce bowls before committing. Note: I do strongly suggest doing your homework if you are unfamiliar with this type of faire. We did. It enriches the experience. I'll likely bring a note sheet on sauce recipes. If you have more than two people, bring extra tongs. (I did ask for more, but didn't get more - Unsure if this is protocol or oops.)
