Found this little gem on out way out of Kentucky. Hands down was the best bbq brisket I have ever tasted!! The meat was cooked to perfection. Their homemade coleslaw and collar greens was a delicious addition to my lunch. The owner treated us like family. She told us how herself and her daughter prepared all the food themselves. They sure know how to serve up delicious food for a reasonable price. We will take the four hour drive to enjoy more of their dishes. Wish I had room to try their assortment of desserts. read more

Wow what a place. Road tripping and fell in to this little slice of heaven !!! I got the ribs and brisket done to what I believe perfection. Got the hot sauce on the side with Mac n cheese with baked beans. Both excellent. We sampled the collards .. Smokey perfection!!! This is my final follow up review on hogwild as I am a local and have tried it many many many many times. This time likely being my last. Too many times I leave with nothing because they're closed or because I was desiring more. The inconsistency in which they are open is enough to drive someone mad. However, because I live close it is not too big of an inconvenience to drive by and see if they're open. With that being said when they actually are open, you are guaranteed to be met with mid Barbecue and sides. Sometimes I find "fuzzies" on my food so I wonder if the kitchen is dusty? Nothing special, often watery and tad pricey. I guess if I was passing through and knowing that there is no other exit nearby with food aside from fast food, this would be a good choice. I have quite literally tried everything on the menu, that is when they have not been run out and I'll average them at 2/5. The ladies there are friendly and kind! All I can say is OMG!!! Best ribs and pulled pork sandwich ever!!! Ribs were soooo juicy, tender and full of flavor, they didn't even need the sauce to be honest. I laughed so hard when I read a previous review saying "ribs were too fall-off-the bone" well they are supposed to be like that!!! Come on people, give me a break!!! My husband and I enjoyed so much the food and the atmosphere ( we love Trump so it didn't bother us at all) but even if we didn't, everyone had the right to express themselves whatever they want! Not exactly the BBQ experience we were looking for. Stopped by on our way down to a Bourbon trail weekend trip and was in the mood for my favorite of foods...'Que! We ordered at the window and settled in to our table as we waited for the food to be prepared. My wife and I shared a sampler platter for ribs, pulled pork, brisket and two sides (we chose mac-n-cheese and their unique cole slaw). For good measure I threw in a slice of peach pie as I am a peach junky. Here's may take on the food items: ribs were too fall-off-the-bone, but decent bark flavor. I am really not a fan of meat that you don't have to "work" to get off the bone. The pulled pork was moist and paired well with their tangy BBQ sauce. The brisket was sliced way too thin, losing its heat almost instantly. As for the sides, the mac-n-cheese was really watery for some reason and their unusual cole slaw had a vinegar and cranberry preparation that my wife did like. As for the peach pie, it was meh at best (wish it could have been heated up a bit, as it was straight out of a cooler). I pulled in to go to the truck stop next door to get a couple hot dogs. But, when I parked in front of this bbq restaurant, I had to try it. Mostly, because bbq sandwich seemed more tempting at the time. So, I got a bbq sandwich, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and free pickle came with my meal. It was delicious and I enjoyed it better than two hot dogs at the truck stop next door. The potato salad was a special homemade potato salad that tasted like something I have never tried before. It was worth stopping here just to eat the potato salad. Also, I asked for a sweet tea and was given a bottle of sweet tea. Anyway, service was fast and friendly here. As soon as I walked in, they spoke to me and took my order. One note is that they don't have much dining space inside but they do outside. However, I got my meal and took it to the truck to eat. I had such a great experience eating here unplanned and unexpected. Unbelievably good I made stopping here. I was glad I came here. This is just most solid stop while traveling that you'll find! The pulled pork sandwich is excellent quality, only $6 and comes with chips and a pickle. We also had a side of Mac/cheese, 2 sides of collared greens, 2 sides of baked beans and a Pepsi and total it was only $18!! I tipped $5 because I thought the service was very friendly and the food was worth more than $18- food service isn't an easy job and they do it well. A welcome respite to weary travelers. I see some Yelpers have given less stars because of all the Trump paraphernalia and that's really not fair- rate the food and service because this isn't really a dine-in establishment (there are a few small tables inside and out but this is a travelers stop obviously). The rule in barbecue is the longer the name the less likely it is to be good. This is evident here. The building itself is a converted carport next to a truck stop. Parking is limited and poorly marked. Food does not appear to be cooked on premises. Served out of a lunch truck attached to the car port......understand that while the carport is not ideal it's not a dealbreaker, I will eat good barbecue off a garbage can lid. This just isn't very good. I had the pulled pork. It was mushy and not very flavorful. I got the impression it was cooked in a crockpot. They were out of brisket. I returned a week later to try the brisket only to find a sign saying closed till Monday as they were out of product. It is not unusual for good barbecue to sell out but this was @5 pm on a Thursday and closed till Monday? I'm working in the area and I may try again to get brisket but I am not optimistic.....the potato salad is a hate crime. read more

Do not judge a book by its cover. This place off the highway at a truck stop basically, is the real deal. The ribs are superb. The sides are far better than average. Fine array of homemade desserts. Great people work there. And they make killer BBQ sauce. For the few that have given it a thumbs down, shockingly, I have two things to say. Each to his own and those who were hard on it must have had far too much insane hot sauce and their tastebuds are dead. The food was ok, a bit expensive but was decent. The women working there, on the other hand, weren't very friendly at all, and we certainly didn't feel very welcomed. When I was handed the receipt to sign, I noticed a fee attached. Turns out they charge you a fee to use a credit card, with no heads up when I gave it to them. Not cool, not professional, and fairly underhanded. Lastly, the place is filled with Trump crap: MAGA hats for sale, a giant Trump 2020 banner and a lifesize Trump cutout. (This explains the shitty attitudes) We don't need your politics shoved down our throat when all we wanted was some BBQ after a 10 hour drive. I own a business, too but I don't plaster my politics all over it. Total amateur move. I let people know if there are any additional fees before charging them. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. However they lacked some serious flavor. The pork was dry and need salt badly also was very bland. Sides were collards and baked beans. $16.60 with a soda. Brisket was very lean and I prefer mine to be a little fatty. No smoke flavor whatsoever. The 2 ribs were very tender but VERY fatty. Should have sent some to the brisket! Like the brisket there was not any good hickory flavor to them. Collard greens were tender but not too flavorful and the beans tasted like out of a can. Upon entering there is an awesome hickory BBQ smell coming from this place. We decided on the chicken and the brisket, the kids had corn on the cob as well. The corn was OLD. Mushy and OLD tasting. They didn't want to eat it, after tasting it I understood why. The brisket. Ok I am being critical now and have to be based on what I expected to be BBQ. The brisket tasted like roast beef. A surprising find, with ridiculous amounts of delicious food at a great price. The home made sauces are definitely worth a try .
