I had been searching for a stylist in NYC since moving here, having tried the Aveda Institute a couple times but with students it's tough. You need lots of time and you'll never get the same person. I finally found Jesse through a friend and my hair has been so much happier. The salon is right by the Highline so you can explore before or after. There's a coffee shop next door too. But pro tip - get some sparkling wine from the salon while you get your hair done. That with the candy spread they have, it's just a pampered wonderland! Recently in between highlights Jesse has been doing smudges which prolongs the highlight growth and literally smudges color to your roots to blend it all in. I've also tried woven extensions by Jesse. They looked fabulous, and I've never had that much hair in my life but I'm excited that they're being turned into clip-ins for easy removal. There are a number of other stylists as well as Michael himself that you can see. They also have a makeup artist and do nails as well. I highly recommend Michael Angelo's Wonderland to anyone looking for a new stylist!

Melissa is really skilled in what she does and takes great pride in her work. You can tell you are dealing with a true professional and perfectionist which is exactly what I look for in a hairdresser. She did a great blow out on me after we were all done with the highlights and cut. The salon is clean and tidy and offers coffee and refreshments along with some yummy cookies to snack on while you get your hair done. Great place come check it out!

The place is nice and clean (just open for a month) , and Ana is super nice. She did a great job with my hair, and no rushing at all. She gave me same price as groupon if I want to pay her directly. Which is totally fine for me, helping small businesses as grupon cut a lot. I'm returning :)

This was one of the strangest and least professional salon experiences of my life. Upon walking in…read moreinto an otherwise empty salon I was ignored for nearly 5 minutes before the owner finally tore herself away from a riveting conversation she was having with a man-friend. She asked me to have a seat...and proceeded to shoot the shit while I waited. My appointment was scheduled for 3:10. I walked in at 3:15. At 3:27 something in her brain must have clicked and she finally said "alright, let's get you shampooed!" Her conversation went on while she washed my hair and she stopped briefly only to half-hardheartedly inquire into what I'd like done. I explained to her that my hair stylist is booked for a while and I'd just like to correct the horrible butchering job I did on my bangs as well as trim off the dead ends of my bob. Nothing more. As she continued her yapping with her friend, she chopped 5 hairs off the back of my head and declared the hair cut finished. I asked her if she can even out my bangs to which she responded -- "if you want." What? No, I'm just asking because I'm curious about your abilities? In retrospect, I wish that was the case! She managed to screw up cutting bangs! I didn't ask for Bettie Page style bangs thankyouverymuch. Shouldn't cutting bangs be a part of haircuts 101? After cutting my bangs she begun to blow dry my hair but I noticed that she wasn't blowing it out. At this point I'm wondering what the hell she's doing when she pulls out a flat iron. THIS WOMAN DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO BLOW OUT A BOB? She flat irons my fine short hair into an odd mushroom-like monstrosity, charges me $30 and forgets to say "have a nice day." My husband actually laughed upon seeing my new hairdo and he's oblivious when it comes to haircuts. My brother asked me why my hair looks so dirty. In the back my hair shape looks like a damn penis head. To be fair, after I washed, dried, and styled my hair at home it did not look that horrible anymore. I happened to walk past LSM on my way to go grocery shopping at Food Town. I stopped there because the sign in the window said "All haircuts $20" Sold! Linda (owner) was able to cut my hair later that same day. She's a really nice lady and pretty chatty (whether or not you like that is up to you). Most importantly, she's very good at her job. I brought in a photo of a new cut I wanted to try and she talked to me about how to cut it so it will grow out well. She told me what she was going to do before she did it ("I'm going to take a little more off the front, is that ok?"), which some hairdressers sadly do not do. I had the nice combined feeling of being in control of the situation but also being in good hands. When you're a female who likes her hair very short, you often get a lot of guff from stylists who want to change your mind entirely. What she did turned out really cute and I went back a month later for a trim. It's coming along really great. I think there are only two stylists: the owner and one other woman. The place is really small and clean with a nice aesthetic. They also have a seat shaped like a car to do kids cuts. I would highly recommend it. I wanted to make sure the business was listed here and give it a good review because they're new and can use some more loyal customers.

I told her I want a light brown brow liner 'coz dark ones don't really look that nice on me. And she was like "oh you don't want your eyebrows to have the same color as your hair... blah blah blah". I thought that's basic when it comes to make up. Brows should match the color of your hair. Instead she took her eyebrow template and airbrushed my eyebrows with black brown color. Mind you, I sent her my pinterest board before she came for my trial and she did nothing like any of what I want there. There's a lot more that I can write here but it's just a lot to type lol. When I finally told her a few days after that I'm not hiring her, this is the response that I got. So yeah, if you need somebody who would rather have you look like the way she wants, rather than what you want, Maira would be the perfect beauty artist for your wedding day.
