I described the cut that I usually got and showed her some pictures, and Donna jumped right in with suggestions of how to maximize the growing out period and maintain the shape of my cut. As she buzzed and cut my hair, she gave me tips for taking care of my scalp and what products would work on my longer hair, but never pushed anything on me. This is why I love boutique salons -- since stylists aren't trying to make sales quotas with products, any recommendations feel genuine, and you never feel pressured to buy anything just to be polite. When I looked over my hair once the cut is done, Donna explained how she did the cut and how the growth would come back in -- this was so reassuring, since with my style of hair, a cut that looks 100% blended and clean after the appointment can often have a weird regrowth. Donna took all of these factors into account when giving me this cut -- I would highly recommend her if you're looking for an experienced stylist who knows her way around short hair of all textures. I also love how this salon does not price based on gender, rather by hair length. I've gone to many salons where a cut for my very short hair was $10-20 more expensive than one that would be given to a man, despite using the exact same tools and techniques. So seeing their pricing was very refreshing. My haircut came out to $55 before tip, which is definitely less than many cuts I've gotten in the past. The salon is *cash only.* In terms of what they are doing for protections during the pandemic, I felt very safe entering into the salon. Everyone wore masks, and there are multiple hand sanitizing stations, both in the actual salon and in the larger building. I mean she was great at cutting ,perming, sewing, you name it she was great at it! The problem with Sabrina is that she is unreliable, a bit confrontational, and she is the slowest working stylist that my friends and I have ever come across. Sabrina takes years to do your hair, she is never on time for appointments and if you are lucky enough that she is already at the salon for your appointment, be prepared for your whole day to be taken up with her talking on the phone, texting ,eating, taking her sweet time to finish your hair. I mean she really works slow, and this is from years of experience, and I know about 10 people that once went to Sabrina but all of them stopped because she lacked professionalism. In addition to that she chooses to go up and down on prices whenever she pleases. One week you could pay $85 and the next week you will pay $100 , for the exact hair style, and she just decides it whenever she pleases. Sabrina is a great stylist and I would never take that away from her but she is not worth the money and time being that there are a million other great stylist in that salon and in new york that don't take forever to do your hair and won't go up and down on prices just because they feel like it. You can not rely on Sabrina if you have made an appointment with her or if you are a walk in, and when confronting her on any issue she gets defensive and instead of accomadating she does not care.
