Been looking for Mexican food since moving to town, gave Hola a try. The drinks are delicious - Vanilla Margarita is amazing. Food is pretty bland though. Salsas don't have much spice, enchilada sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce. Beans, rice, everything was pretty meh. It was fairly late when we went in, waiter was definitely in a rush to get us out. Maybe different locations are better than others. My boyfriend and I went in to Hola! for a drink before we saw a 7:15 movie. We sat down at the bar, waited... waited and finally were asked what we would like. We both ordered a $9 Mojito. We waited about 10-15 for the drinks, once we received the drinks there was no Rum in them, my boyfriend insisted the bartender try it, he agreed, apologized, added Rum and shook them again, then offered us chips and salsa. Due to the slow customer service, lack of team work within the staff (the bartender needed some help at the bar...), and mediocre drink (even after the Rum was added) I would not go back. However, before we left a couple sat down next to us, who seemed to know the staff, and were offered drinks and tequila as soon as they sat down, and chips and salsa were brought to the immediately. So, I guess if you have a friend that works there, Hola! might be great place to go. Very disappointing for me. read more

This is one our favorite restaurants in Bend. Margaritas are amazing - Red Cactus. We have not had a bad meal. I suggest selecting from the Peruvian section of the menu for something a little different from then normal Mexican fare. My personal favorite is the tuna. read more

I've been going here for 2 years, usually with friends before a movie or during an event in Old Mill. Mario answered and told they could only accept cash, I said okay, then the phone was put down. So we went over to Hola since we had an hour or more to kill before our movie started. They said the wait would be 30 min for 2 people. I asked if we could just sit at a table outside, in which he replied well you can't come inside if it starts raining. That was rude, but we sat down outside anyway. Waited about 15 minutes for water and bad salsas. The green salsa just tastes like liquified cilantro. The reddish one was ok, not too much flavor tho. Anyway, we figured out what we wanted as soon as we sat down so we could order right away. So we order our food and our waitress restates the order correctly. While waiting for our food there were others waiting to be seated and one of them yelled that it's been over 30min!! The wait there is obviously a joke. So our food came and my husband was on an important call. He began eating and his food was fine. I cut my cheese enchilada to find it stuffed with shredded meat. Aggravated, I waited for her to check on us or for anyone to come by. No one does, so I leave my husband to pay the bill and go down to the theatre to get good seats. It's best I did that because apparently she argued with my husband. She said I ordered shredded beef enchiladas (even tho she repeated cheese when I ordered cheese enchiladas) and yes I'm a vegetarian. So she proceeds to argue with my husband and says she's going to charge us for my order. That is so insane! Worst customer service ever! I expected an apology and possibly an option to order something else. And I especially was not going to pay for it!! My husband held his ground and explained why he was not paying for my dinner. Finally the waitress gave in and just charged us for the other food and drinks. Over priced and rude, no thanks. We will never be returning here!! read more

When Hola first started on the east side of town we would go there all the time, the food and drinks were great; however, the Old Mill location has not held up that standard. We had an awful experience, and we will never go back. Hola is a family style restaurant, but they only have a few tables that can actually accommodate a family with small children (you cannot pull a high chair up to a bar high table), so we waited for a ridiculous amount of time to be seated, while everyone who walked in behind us (without kids) got to sit down. The food was terrible, the margarita had very little alcohol in it, and they even messed the guacamole up! I left feeling frustrated and very unsatisfied. Eating a frozen dinner on the couch would have been more enjoyable. read more

I was looking for a great place to eat while I was driving through Bend a couple of weeks ago when I came across a cool restaurant next to a fun shopping area. The place was super busy but I managed to get seated and was excited to dive in! Truly a foreigner to this town, I relied on the assistance of the waiter Rogelio to guide my dining experience. He single handedly made my visit both enjoyable and memorable! The drink he made me was AMAZING! That was followed up by the suggested fresh guacamole. The man literally made guac in front of me!!!!!! For dinner Rogelio offered the Lomo Saltado as a suggested choice...he hadn't done bad with his drink and appetizer suggestions so I thought why not and it was TO DIE FOR! Who would have known that you could get a tasty Peruvian experience in a small Oregon town with a waiter who truly cares about his customer! I love Holas not only for it's GREAT margaritas but also for their amazing staff. I've tried several of their meals and my favorite is the skirt steak with chimuchari (sp) sauce. I'm also a huge fan of their tropical quinoa. Sometimes I go in just for that! I like that you can ask for substitutions or suggestions and they'll make adjustments for you. read more

I have, until now, never signed up for Yelp, but I was inspired by one of the most delicious, enjoyable and memorable meals I've had in years. My friend and I happened to be walking to Les Schwab Amphitheater from our hotel, and I spotted the Hola! sign, and felt drawn to investigate; we found a treasure. The clean, hip, contemporary vibe of Hola! was easy to appreciate. We had great service, excellent cocktails, and fresh salsa and chips while we waited for our food. The menu's (particularly the Peruvian selections) only fault was deciding which dish to get. I decided on the Aji de Gallina, which is one of their specialties. It is a shredded, seasoned (savory) chicken dish with peas, olives, and rice. Each bite had me asking myself if it could possibly be any better; any more... Anything? The answer, again and again, was no. I had the very rare experience of having a perfect meal. While I am prone to wax poetic, and dabble with hyperbole, this is not such an instance. I will make a point of revisiting Hola! every time I visit Bend... And you should too! read more

Great chips and salsa. Food was tasty and portions were ample. The highlight was Beto the waiter/bartender. Asked for a custom made margarita...with avacado. Weird, yes. But don't knock it till you try it. Gave him the base ingredients and he said he would try until he got it just right. After a couple of adjustments he returned with THE BEST avacado margarita. My husband and I have been here twice, but my review is mostly for the new Redmond location that is not on Yelp yet. Hola is one of our favorite restaurants, but we live in Redmond, so don't getting to this location very often. So when the Redmond location opened we were thrilled! The food is alway delicious, I order something different each time and have never been unhappy. The pricing on the menu might seem a bit high, but then you get your order and realize the portions are very large, so the pricing is reasonable for how much you get, this goes for the drinks as well! I have suggested Hola for a couple of girls nights and no one has had a bad experience here! Thank you for expanding to Redmond!!! read more

Really blew it on Mother's Day service today. Walked out due to impolite and slow service. Not nearly enough staff.

Service was friendly and quick. Margarita was 9$ but filled 2 regular glasses and then some and was very good. Food was satisfactory. Good combinations of rice and beans and peppers. Red sauce on chili burrito and on enchiladas kind of tasted like chef Boyrde sauces need some definite help. Salsa was great. Hola was a great surprise as we stopped for a quick bite before seeing a movie. For me all Mexican (in this case with Peruvian spin) meals begin with the chips and salsa - and Hola had me there. They also had several choices of fresh fruit Margaritas. The menu was interesting, the food and service was very good, and it was a fun place. What a disappointment. We have been here 4 or 6 times and we have loved their food, especially their Peruvian dishes. This time our food took along time to arrive and we were worried that we would be late for our movie at the theatre next door. The food finally arrived and my beef tacos were over cooked and my wife's fish tacos with halibut was so over cooked it was like jerky. Our waiter was nice but even during a time were they had few customers we hardly saw him. We were eating out doors and we wondered what they were doing inside because there was no one inside. When we told our waiter about the food he responded well and would not let us pay for our meals. Still, I don't think we will go back when there are so many good restaurants in the mall. Excellent Peruvian food, Good Mexican food, Salads not so great. We love this place but we were disappointed with the salad. The Halibut was not fresh ( I actually don't believe it was halibut, but that is only an opinion ) There was very little of anything in the Salad. Just a few drops of dressing . We were really disappointed with our dinning experience last night. I have never been wowed by Hola from the 2 other times I have eaten there but for some reason my wife wanted to go there for dinner. We have a 1 1/2 year old and she thought it would be somewhat accommodating. When we got there we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait (after being there 5-10 minutes). We were waiting for a standard height table so our daughter could sit with us in a high chair. They only have about 3-4 standard height tables, all the rest are bar height. There was another party of 6 waiting at the same time as U.S. for a standard height table with 2 small children and an infant and they made a comment to my wife about "this being ridiculous" and left. We ended up having to wait an hour to be seated (it was my wife's choice to stay, I would have left a long time before that). Meanwhile our daughter was loosing her cool and I had to take her outside and walk around for about 45 minutes. After finally being seated they brought out chips and salsa. Chips were stale and the salsa does not impress me at all, both green and red. I did not see anything on the menu that stood out at me so I settled with the pork tamales and my wife ordered chicken molé enchiladas and a red cactus margarita. We ordered a small quesadilla for our daughter and also had the table side guac made up. The guacamole had too much onion in it but that was our fault for saying we wanted everything in it. The tamales had 80/20 ratio of corn bread to pork and the sauce did nothing for me. My wife said that the chicken was un seasoned and the mole sauce was too sweet. We ordered the margarita with no salt but it came with a salt rim, and tased nothing but juice. My pregnant wife that hasn't been drinking even took a few sips and said she couldn't taste or feel any effects of the alcohol. As we were sitting at our table the party next to us even had to send a plate back. The service once we were seated was satisfactory until we were ready to leave and I had to take check and my card to the cashier after waiting about 5 minutes after it was dropped off. Sorry Hola but we won't be back. As a matter of fact I have never written a review before now but you have compelled me to do so. I'm not a cyber bully, just an average consumer that expects a nice dinning experience when we choose to eat out which happens less now that we have a small child. So perhaps I'm being overly critical? Guess you will have to judge for yourself if you choose to dine there... But I would not recommend it. read more

Do not eat at the old Mill location!! We walked in, no one was eating...and it was lunch time...3 workers and no chips and salsa after 5 minutes, busser commented to the rude person who greeted us, "do they need chips and salsa", to which rude person said, "I guess." The chips were in a huge garbage can and they scooped the chips out with their bare hands. Really??? Food was dry and bland. Service was disgusting and rude. It's the old Mill! Unacceptable. This place should be closed down. Every other Hola in Bend and Redmond is great! Not worth the money or the experience, save your money and eat elsewhere. read more

We stopped at Hola! on this past Monday for dinner while trying to kill time before the Bend fireworks. We have two small children (1 and 3) and the staff were absolutely amazing with them. They were kind and patient while waiting for my 3 year old to order and made sure to speak directly to her when asking how her dinner was (a major plus in my book). Our server, Mario, was fantastic at his job. Super friendly and really attentive. All of the staff (and what I would assume was the manager or owner?!) went above and beyond. And the food was freaking amazing. Order the guacamole fresco...so delicious. We were on vacation from Seattle and it was, by far, the best food we had all week. We can't wait to come back and Hola! will be added to our traditional meal in Bend before July 4th Fireworks. Thank you. read more

I hate to say this because we are locals and used to like going to Hola and then the movie. Today was a huge disappointment!!! We went for a beer and a couple of bowls of soup and we were charged 12 dollars instead of 8 for each bowl of soup. We go every week!!! Makes me crazy. The waitress said that it was a dinner portion. I love their food but the service at the Old Mill location is poor. On multiple occasions I've had a bad experience. I've had staff not believe me when I say I work in the Old Mill (when they gave lunch time discounts to old mill employees), I've walked in and stood there for over five minutes with no "hello I'll be with you" or acknowledgement that I was even there (and I was the only one in there at the time), I've got attitude when I have to special order something due to my medical condition, and this time I tried to call to order for pick up but nobody answered. I figured they're busy so I just walk over to order and there's only two tables filled, not busy in the slightest- THEN I order my special ordered enchiladas, get back to work and literally can't eat any of it because they didn't do what I had specifically asked! (perhaps the guy taking my order couldn't understand me?). AND it cost me $15bucks! I'm just livid right now, still hungry and out 15 dollars. My husband and I dropped in for a late dinner not long ago. I was looking forward to a tamarind marg (Hola's is my favorite!) and some filling plates. I have come here a handful of times and usually love the experience, but this night was different. The staff seemed annoyed that we were there and uninterested in helping us (I checked the time, and it was an hour till close). The portions seemed smaller than usual and sloppily plated. It was a disappointing and super-downer experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but it's worth it to know that the staff might have a hard time rallying for the late night crowd. I haven't been back since but I would love to give them another try, because those tamarind margaritas just can't be beat! It's also worth mentioning that the prices seem steep for the food these days. It could just be the Old Mill/touristy deal, but it's hard to justify spending so much when I can pop down the street for way cheaper street tacos and more cheerful service. read more

I have been to this location several times before and usually love the staff and food. Last night I was extremely dissapointed. We came in at about half hour to close which I realize is cutting it close. This location is right in a busy shopping center and directly next to a movie theater. Upon entering the front door, the man behind the counter got a disgusting look on his face and told us they'd be closing soon. Standing there akwardly... we felt obligated to leave. There was another group that came in after us and they too were denied service. I completely understand that if it's slow and you've already closed the restaurant that's one thing. But to have the open sign on, be located next to a busy theater, and deny service to multiple groups of people is NOT okay. This guy did not know proper customer service and it showed. If he was polite and said that thier kitchen was closed, maybe offered us a drink or something (they were still "open" for another 30 minutes) then I would not be writing this review. I'll think twice about going to this location next time and may take my business to the competition in town, La Rosas. read more
