What a treat, basically a 5-star restaurant in the literal woods, amazing. Visited on a recent camping trip on the Metolious, and if you don't think you need a top shelf margarita and amazing Mexican/Peruvian food while in the wilderness, you are wrong--ha. We got a little of everything, but the menu is so large, one could try something new everyday of the year. The chili relleno in a light but spiced tomato broth is exceptional. The shrimp enchiladas are fresh and bright--where are they getting fresh shrimp in the woods, incredible. Other highlights are the steak dishes and their table-side guacamole. Back to those margaritas, a pitcher for $60-ish, I believe, and that's for the best one, and you get 6 large pours, it's a no brainer. Outdoor seating is fantastic and dog approved, and the deer and squirrels are hitting all their call times. What a show! Service is very friendly and if i can say, authentic, these folks are serving the food of their culture in the most unique and unexpected way. read more

Everything was just ok. The service was good until we got our food and then we never saw anyone again. My food was ok. A little too spicy and barely any rice at all. The steak was cooked to death. My wife had the tamales which was a better choice than what I picked. But not great either. We didn't have any margaritas just beer on tap. The World Series was on the tv while some random Mexican music was playing through the speakers. Not sure if I'll be back or not. read more

Service was excellent. We were seated outside across the road from a bit of trash someone left there. We had a party of 8. Waitress was witty with the kids. Professional with the adults. Do not order the fish tacos. Dry halibut and other ingredients wrapped around ONE tortilla. When you pick it up, it all falls apart. Soft tacos should have TWO tortillas. 1. My biggest complaint was that both servers had taken a bath in cologne. That not only interfered with the enjoyment of the food, it gave one of our party a migraine. No one who works in food service should wear anything containing fragrance during their shift. 2. A surprising find along the forest road that leads into Camp Sherman, Hola! is a fantastic, cute little gem serving Mexican and South American cuisine, in a decidedly fish-out-of-water location! Now, some people might scoff at a restaurant situated on the fringes of a campground site in a national forest, but I tell you what: after a couple of days semi-roughing it, a margarita, caipirinha or pina colada is a pretty welcome treat! Over the course of our three day excursion, we stopped in twice, usually for a mid-afternoon snack: one day, the Guacamole Fresca, assembled tableside while you watch; the next day, the Ceviche Mexicano. Each time, baskets of fresh tortilla chips accompanied them, as well as two salsas, one a spicy red, the other a milder, cilantro lime. Both were fantastic! And of course, pina coladas (virgin ones for the kids and pregnant wife) and caipirinhas accompanied them, as well as Pisco Sour, for something a little more exotic. Hola!'s prices are pretty steep, all things considered, but if you're not taking into account its remote location, in addition to its stellar food and service, then your complaint doesn't have legs to it. And hey, my wife, who boldly agreed to go camping while full-blown nine month's pregnant, certainly deserved it! She very much appreciated Hola!'s convenient location, stellar food, and change of pace from the rigors of semi-roughing it. A darling restaurant in the middle of nowhere. We came a bit after dinner hour and were seated promptly inside, (as was our choice) The decor is charming and the service was prompt and attentive. Slow service, expensive and flavorless. This is some of the most bland food I've ever had. My entire family was disappointed with their meals which had no seasoning, flavor or even salt. The prices are high and the service was very slow, with the waiter lacking awareness of when he should be taking orders. We will not be coming back. WOW! To find something this remarkable tucked in the woods.... I almost don't want to share it so it won't get spoiled. I've frequently gone to the other Central OR Hola's, and this one does not disappoint. The atmosphere is right in the National Forest, so if that's your thing it's a bonus. The food is made fresh every morning. I love the Carne Asada and guacamole. The chips are hand made as well everyday, and are very good. Clean, simple food. Yes, the price is higher than your normal restaurant.. but your also 20 miles away from the next place.. so that makes sense. The service is quick, the servers are nice. My wife and I ate here last Saturday. Staff was pretty awesome. Beer and drink list is pretty good. Atmosphere is inviting and unique in a wooded setting like this. Why the two stars then? The food was so horrifically bad it was basically inedible. I had the taco enchilada combo and my wife had the crab enchiladas. Such a let down, especially considering the price of the meal. My meal looked like it was going to taste bad, but honestly it tasted even more bland than it looked. The crab enchiladas were a notch better, but still far, far from tasty. If the food was a frozen meal heated in a microwave, I would have expected it to taste better. Then the bill comes... If you are in the area and want a meal, I would suggest the general store. A box of cheez-its would be a more gourmet meal. read more

The location is set in the middle of the woods, literally right off the road which adds to the flare. The river is nearby, and it feels like a side of the road cafe if you will. The wait staff is superb. The margaritas were incredible and the fact you can order them in a pitcher makes it even better. We had a party of 6 and everyone ordered a different menu item. We are retired and live in Camp Sherman. We have eaten at Hola! several times and have always ordered the Halibut Tacos and they were always very tasty. We stopped and ordered 2 orders of the Halibut Tacos to go and took them home to eat. They were both terrible. There was no sauce on either order and the fish was dry and overcooked. Basically they tasted like lettuce and dried out, chewy fish. was very disappointed. They were very busy, if that explains it, but for $25.00 per meal we expected quality. read more

Found this little gem while driving in this area. Mexican and Peruvian. What a find! The house margarita is $10 and they bring the shaker to the table and I filled my glass at least three times. But they have multiple flavors of margaritas plus Peruvian specialty drinks. Friends shared the halibut tacos. Quite the disappointment. Smelled fishy from the get-go. And very little fish. Don't bother. Hubby got a shredded beef burrito with a chili Colorado sauce. Obviously housemade. And not terribly heavy. Delicious! He was very happy. I got a chicken quesadilla. What can you say? We have eaten here twice will on a get-a-way to Camp Sherman. There are not many places to dine, but we wish this were a little bit better. Our food was not hot, it was warmed up. The guac is better when we make our own. The chicken in the burrito had little to no seasoning at all, it was just shredded chicken, tiny bit of lack luster sauce and hardly any cheese. Our shell on the taco was so soggy it fell apart when we picked it up. Service was excellent, just wish we could say the same for our meals. When we stay at Black Butte we enjoy the short drive to Camp Sherman for dinner sometimes. The Kokanee was always a favorite, but that closed and Hola too it's place so we had to check it out! Really delicious Peruvian/Mexican food, and beautiful presentation. The service is a little slow because the servers are also the bartenders, and they have a lot of fancy time intensive cocktails so it makes sense that would slow the servers up. But the drinks are good, as is the food! It's definitely worth a visit. We were there on a Wednesday and it wasn't too crowded, but I do hope the have a dedicated bartender on busier days or I could see how service could get really backed up. read more

Oh my goodness! We have been venturing over to Sisters my entire life (no need o go into how long that really is). I have never been here. Ever. Now I'm kicking myself! I mean really? The food is completely top notch. They bring both red and green salsa to the table. My margarita was delicious!!! (I ordered the red cactus, my husband ordered a mango one). My enchiladas were amazing. My son ordered the homemade tamales. Oh my goodness. So good!!! The best though was my husband shrimp al tequila.
