I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time and it very much so disappointed! The food was horrible, the rice wasn't cooked. Service was awful! Not impressed and I would not recommend this restaurant at all. It was not even busy and people were coming to the desk and saying they had been waiting 20 minutes for a menu. Several people got up and left. But what really got me was that there was an employee cleaning a shelf while standing with his shoes on the counter! Disgusting! Side note, not the restaurants fault but their Internet was down and they would not offer any other way to pay then for them to write down our full credit card number and then process the payment when services came back online. Sadly, I can't tell you how the food is because after being seated, I was never received any service. I sat there for over 25 minutes as waiter continued to just walk past me. Loved this food. I had the fish tacos which were grilled and flavorful. We had the guacamole prepared tableside which was the right amount of salty and spicy. The mojito was chock full of fresh mint. When my toddler got restless, the waiter taught her how to use the marionette he had at the bar and even let her play with it. Even though this is in a strip mall location, it is absolutely worth the visit. By far the best food I've had in Bend, including the cloth napkin, darkly lit restaurants downtown. read more

Went here last night with five other ladies. As I said in my previous review the Strawberry Lemon Mojito is fabulous, that hasn't changed. Last time I was there I didn't eat the food... I wish that I wouldn't have eaten this time because I would have had good things to say about Hola. They food is sick. The service was crappy. I would only return for the happy hour at this location. The wait and bar staff are somewhat rude and dismissive. It is hard to get anyone's attention unless they want to call you out for something. A woman sat down at the bar because no one had greeted her or acknowledged her and the seat was open. The bartender said something to her and other patrons about not signing up on the list and waiting to be called. The drinks for happy hour are worth it if you don't mind the chaos and happen to be in the area. Otherwise, go somewhere else. The food was nothing special (flavor-wise or portions) for the prices they normally charge. If it's crowded - maybe don't bother. read more

One word sums up Hola, awesome!!!!!! The atmosphere is a casual, fun experience with great service to suit the needs of all customers. Our meal started out with a nice basket of chips and two excellent salsa choices. The first was a chunky tomato salsa with tasty chunks of onions, bell peppers and cilantro. Perfect for dipping and covering each warm chip. The other choice was a fantastic cilantro salsa, which soon became my one and all favorite. The dinners that we ordered were exquisitely presented and had a wonderful flavor in every bite. My companion had tamales in a red sauce with pork wrapped in a banana leaf and I tried the delicious prawns wrapped in apple wood bacon accompanied by cilantro quinoa. Every bite was delectable with a spiced flavor to warm my palate. The service was friendly, courteous and quick to make our time as special as possible. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who wanted a nice casual Mexican dinner out before a nightly movie. read more

We were really disappointed with our lunch dishes, quite small for the price. The side of rice and beans were cold and the chicken chimichanga was bland, just boiled dry shredded chicken, no flavor what so ever. Unique spin on the traditional Mexican by adding the Peruvian flavors. Personally love the Tamarind Margarita, as well as the verde sauce. Which you can buy to take home! My husband always gets the Lomo Saltado and it is enough to share if you are wanting a light but filling meal. read more

Food was good except for a hair in the beans, service was way too uninformed and casual for me. To start, a basket of tortilla chips mixed with home made potato chips was dropped off with two salsas, a red and a green. We asked the bus person about the sauces, she said something similar to "the red is a tomato and the green is something else, I think the red is hotter". The chips were great, especially the potato chips. Our hurried, informal, but pleasant server came by for drink orders, we asked about a featured tap beer, he replied "I don't know what it's like I don't drink beer" and stared. We asked for a sample which he brought. Our entrees, Tamales de Puerco, nice pork tamales with red sauce, Costillitas de Puerco con Ají Amarillo (ribs, somewhat tough but nicely presented and flavorful), and Shrimp al Tequila (Prawns with red onions, Portabello mushrooms and fresh bananas), were all quite good except for the hair in the rice. The bus person offered and brought us a second basket of chips. We sat a bit talking, the waiter flew by asking "how's it going" and after we paid "thanks guys" to our party of two women and a guy. At around $15 an entree you'd think Hola! could afford to give their staff a little training on serving customers and the kitchen a few hairnets. read more

Went there for the first time tonight. Very clean! Our waiter was AMAZING. He was super funny and kept complimenting me and my friend telling us we're beautiful (even though we're more meh) and he earned his tip! The food was good. Drinks here are a must. The mojitos and margaritas are best on happy hour because otherwise they're a bit spendy. They usually give you that extra metal mixing cup, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. I'm a huge fan of their nachos. Plenty of cheese and the shredded pork is not dry. Love that we get the free red and green salsa with chips, even if you're only having drinks. The staff are friendly and helpful. We go to Holà every time we come to central Oregon because every time we come it has been amazing food and consistent. I always get the Aji De Gallina which is a Peruvian chicken dish with a creamy delicious sauce and tortillas. We don't eat here one time when we go to central Oregon we go multiple times. We are so hooked on Holà we've been to all the locations, Sunriver, Old mill, Camp Sherman, Downtown Bend, Redmond, and a wedding that was catered by them. I ate here with a large group on the 4th of July because it was the only Mexican restaurant open and had a good meal. Back in Bend, I took my husband and was not disappointed. Super fast service even with a full room. We tried the Peruvian side of the menu and it was great. We are wimps with spicy food and the dish had a kick to it but no too hot. Wonderful new flavors for us, a real treat. I really wanted the guacamole but it would have been too much for only 2 of us. My only negative would be that the music was a bit loud which could be fixed if we sat outside. This is my new must visit restaurant when I'm in Bend. read more

Had the nachos with pork for an afternoon snack with a basic margarita. Nachos were tasty but I wish the toppings were distributed a little more evenly so you got a variety in each bite. The margarita was delicious and strong, I was a little put off by the price but you get the shaker so it is a good value. You could even share one if you were so inclined. Super yummy. Pitcher or margarita is so good and so fun to share with your friends. Atmosphere is a smaller restaurant with a fun vibe.

This has consistently been one of our favorite lunch and snack spots in Central Oregon for many years, across all of their locations. The table-side guava is utterly amazing. The worst food I've had in bend. I don't understand how this place has 3.5 stars? Maybe everyone writing reviews were rating the margaritas. The first thing I look for in every Mexican restaurant is fresh chips and decent salsa. Hola offered chips that were at least 1 week old and the salsa was as bland as biting into a watery tomato. Next was my meal of chicken enchiladas where they took dried out chicken and stuffed it into a shell dumped a small amount of sauce on top and called it a day. I've had better flavor from McDonald's. My family of 6 added our name to wait list, was told 30 min wait, heard the food was good , so decided to wait. All of us sat at a table within a few feet of the front door, waited 40 mins before checking back, was told they had called us & no one answered (not) others around us were called but not us. They in no way tried to get us a table even at that point, we continued to wait another 10 mins before going back to check again, and was told it would be a 30min wait. Terrible food. My husband and I wanted to go to El Sancho for tacos but learned they were closed on Mondays. Having our hearts set on tacos we came here. They were completely flavorless. The chicken was not at all marinated and the cheese and lettuce were Sysco grade. We spent $14 for a margarita with upgraded tequila. I have been to Hola many times, usually a great experience, but after tonight I won't be returning to the old mill location. Our server was extremely short with us and very rushed, the food and margaritas were smaller portions than they used to be accompanied with higher prices, and our server ended the night not by thanking us, or asking if we would like anything else, but by loudly informing us that he needed us to leave so he could seat a new table. I've hosted at restaurants, and currently waitress and bartend in a similar restaurant, I understand how things work and that people have bad nights, but it is never okay to rush your table out that has barely finished their meal... Nobody likes to pay $150 for decent food and a rude, pushy server. The other locations are so much more worth your money. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Not only is Bend home to some of the best Thai Food I've ever bad, but it's also home to a fabulous zesty place like Hola! I'm from southern Arizona, so we have more Mexican restaurants than we can count, so when when our family (who lives in Bend) picked this spot as our first meal in bend I was initially a little surprised and skeptical. The Peruvian Ceviche and the Tamarindo margarita are right on the money! Seriously. The ceviche was made just like it would be in Peru. And the Tamarind in my marg was tangy yet not overpowering. The Bottomless chips and salsa were hard to turn away! Our server was a delight and the owner made sure to stop by and say hello. Located next to a shopping center, it appears chainy and commercial, but the actual food is quite the opposite. The menu draws from Mexican and Peruvian cuisine, which makes for an interesting mix! My wife and I took a client out to his congratulatory dinner at the new Hola on the Westside. I am very pleased to say that it is at least every bit as good as the first location, and now a much closer drive! In fact, I had one of the absolute best pieces of Ahi steak I have had in my whole life, and I eat Ahi quite often. It was beautifully cooked, very rare inside, with a nice layer of fat outside, and a delicious rub outside that. Served artistically with a delicious Peruvian potato side dish that was purple and white, gorgeous and delicious. Very close to being my favorite restaurant in town. read more
