Totally agree with the other reviews that the doughnuts through 2023 were, quite frankly, almost inedible, but this space is under new ownership and a new name (Ambrosia Bakes) in 2024, and I'm happy to report that the doughnuts are once again huge and delicious :) They also have Greek treats like baklava and plan to start serving Greek food soon. Really "sweet" little spot in downtown West Jefferson. They are located on the backside of Main Street- still convenient and a little more quiet. The store is beautiful, mountain rustic, while retaining old characteristics such as the soda fountain counters and detailed tin ceiling. I thought the doughnut selection was somewhat limited (about 5 varieties) but they were quick to offer and make another flavor for us, which was awesome! How we miss when Hole Lotta Doughnuts was in a tiny space and the doughnuts were huge and pillowy. Now that they have expanded, the doughnuts are smaller (still big though), and don't taste as fresh. Guess that's the cost of expanding. Most of the doughnuts are sold out very early because people pre-order. read more

This place is amazing. I had tried to go several times in the past and was unable to make it before they sold out. I finally went one more time on a whim and got the last couple doughnuts in the store. They were awesome. They dip them while you wait so they're hot and fresh. You can grab a knife and fork and eat in the car- the smell will be so irresistible you won't be able to avoid it. So disappointing. Iced donuts were wrapped in paper and in brown paper bags, no boxes. Got them home and icing stuck to paper. Ok, scraped icing off paper and re-iced the donuts. They make their donuts fresh each day and are open until 2:00 - or until they are sold out (which usually happens first!) They hand dip the donuts to order - and they are so reasonably priced! After my last experience I would give zero stars if it was an option. I put in a order through the phone days in advance then went to pick up my order and was told they did not have any orders. Did not offer to help at all. But after looking for an order found that they did have it and did not communicate with each other so it was never filled. They ended up not having the donuts I had requested in stock and did not offer any kind of solution to make it right. Manager did not even bother to come out of the back to talk to us. I was very disappointed in the service for the cost that they charge. This place was a waste of time. read more

Upon arriving, I saw a sign that read "sorry we have sold out." The owner then pulled up in his car and said hold on let me see if we have a few to give you. His wife came out with a box of 3 of the best donuts I have ever tasted and did not even charge us. Customer service is horrible and they're always out of donuts like at 1 o'clock on a Saturday when they're open till 6 PM...

Doughnuts are good. Service less than desirable. Went inside to get doughnuts to go at Lenoir, NC location. There was a sign saying exact change due to coin shortage. This should refer only to coins as the "national shortage" is only coins not paper currency. The cashier said they had no change at all and was quite rude about having to have exact change. If you offer legal currency and they refuse it, technically you can have the product. Of course we just left. How can you run a business without any cash???? Not everyone has debit or credit cards and some people, like my husband, prefer cash so we can actually see what we spend. Not a good way to start off with a new business. read more
