The owner, Grayson, has an infectious love of chocolate, fine wine, great food, travel, and life in general. I enjoy the "Sipping Chocolate." It's a cream and cocoa mixture that resembles a melted candy bar. It's served in a cup, with a spoon, that you will need. Decadently rich and delicious. The "regular" hot chocolate is a favorite with the foreign student community at the University in Blacksburg Va. The hand made chocolates are very creative, beautiful, and delicious. One of my favorites, dark chocolate with cayenne pepper! The well traveled proprietor has also added a small, but EXCELLENT cafe, serving European inspired dishes (omnivores and vegans accommodated) and a selection of remarkable wines. From my experience it's the only place in the area where you can actually have a bottle of very fine Rioja, a Caymus Cab, or a special occasion champagne. There are affordable wine offerings that are excellent also. When not too busy, the owner takes time to talk with his customers. The conversations may be about chocolate, food, wine, travel, or life in general. Grayson's enthusiasm for all of these things, especially life, is uplifting! Heads up! The restaurant section is small (maybe 8 tables and a bar) so MAKE A RESERVATION to avoid missing out! Obviously, I HIGHLY recommend Cocoa Mia!

So needless to say, this went up to the top of my queue. Finally, I visited last week around 11:15am just after they opened and had a great experience, and of course walked out with some delicious truffles. The owner was very friendly and talked to us about the variety of chocolates, where they're sourced, which ones he prefers etc. They sell some local artisan products/merch (soaps, cards, etc) as well. After much internal struggle (I wanted everything), I settled on an 8 count of truffles and got some citrusy, caramel, and alcohol-infused flavors. I really liked the strawberry champagne and tangerine truffles. I will definitely return to satiate my sweet tooth. This place also does private chocolatier classes (truffles, molds, bars etc) for groups of 2-10 people. They don't have a set schedule, you just call to set a time that works well for you. Definitely something else I would be interested in checking out.

This small place offers a very nice array of flavored, hand crafted chocolate bars, bonbons, and more, crafted by folks who care about what they are creating! I tried : bars - Milk Chocolate, Sea Salt, and Ocean Tide (sea salt and carmel). All 3 were excellent, but the Milk Chocolate is the very best of the lot - it rivals any I tasted in Europe. The sea salt is excellent, even a bit addictive with the hook at the end of a bite. That's the good news, the bad news is that each bar is 2.2 ounces and costs $10 each! Frankly, that is value prohibitive for many folks - there is little value here! Obviously, many see this differently, but I'll stay with my opinion! Ambiance - 4 Food - 4.5 Service - 5 Value - 2

I've had a bunch of their truffles (the spiked ones have a good kick, and the hot/spicy habanero caramels are actually to die for). Service is always pleasant and friendly too. It's a good thing I don't live too close because I would come here every day. I am also addicted to their drinking chocolate. Prepared as instructed, it makes a super thick, creamy and decadent treat but sometimes I swap it out for 2x the milk and enjoy a luxury hot chocolate. You can't go wrong with the Chocolate Fetish!

The chocolates are priced by piece and they have something for everyone. I picked out four for myself and two for my friend: peanut butter cup pistachio Rocher a dark chocolate sea salt, caramel a chai moon truffle, and a cinnamon churro toffee. I indulged in my four pieces of chocolate, nice and slow when I was back at my hotel room lol. The dark chocolate peanut butter cup had to have been my favorite. The spicy pecan caramel really caught me off guard and I knew when I do go back and visit I will be bringing back a separate box for my husband of those and any other of their spicy chocolates and caramels. The inside was clean, well lit, and the staff were very friendly and helping choose different options.

The aroma of chocolate wraps around you the second you walk through the door -- rich, warm, and completely unforgettable. There's an entire area where you can watch the actual machines they use to craft their chocolate, which adds so much charm and character. But our favorite part was the cozy coffee section. A simple caramel latte ended up being the highlight -- balanced, smooth, and exactly what we didn't know we needed. A little moment of serendipity we're glad we found.

Tours are offered daily with reservations, and the café is also open for walk-ins. I ordered a hot chocolate, not realizing it was made with dark chocolate. It turned out to be very rich and strong. A bit too intense for my personal taste. I honestly wish they offered milk on the side so I could dilute it, as I wasn't able to finish it. Afterward, I definitely needed water because of how rich it was. However, I also ordered the mocha stout cake, and that was absolutely delicious and very enjoyable. Overall, it's a great spot for serious dark chocolate lovers and anyone interested in high quality, handcrafted chocolate.
