Stopped here over the summer with a larger group on a Friday night. We came and watched Elvis at the end of July and I think the second showing was Thor. The first movie started around 9, as the sun went down. By the time for the second movie it was almost midnight so we left, but if you can stay up late it's a great deal to stay and watch two! If you choose to turn your car off, make sure to bring an actual radio to tune in with. None of the apps have the specific station and you won't be able to hear much from your neighbor's car. It was a beautiful place to watch the sunset and once it's dark you can see lots of stars. I would recommend sitting in a car or on chairs because it is all gravel and it's harder to find a window to watch if you're on the ground. There are concessions and restrooms in the middle. You pay per person in the car for entry and if you bring your own snacks you're supposed to pay. read more

I had so much fun coming here! It's been years since I've last been to a drive in and We had a great time. I really like how the screen was up high so that no matter where you park you can see the screen. I also thought the concession was clean and the bathrooms were clean. The picture quality of the movie was really really good! We had a truck so we set up a nice little area in the bed of the truck with beach chairs, a cooler, and blankets and it was perfect! I do suggest bringing a radio to listen to the movie but listening from the car wasn't bad. There is a fee of $5 to bring in outside food but no one ever checked if we paid for it so I'm not sure why they have that fee? We liked the Kona truck to get shaved ice and thought it was a nice little treat! Get there at least an hour and a half early to get a good spot. We saw a lot of people driving around 30/40 mins before having a hard time parking. We will definitely be back again! read more

One of the only drive inns in town. This place has been a traditional staple for my family since we moved back to Cincinnati. I love the feeling of packing up the car to go watch the movies on the big screen. Recently I've started to hangout on the lawn before the movie. This really opens up the space and makes it more of a hangout/mingle for the kids. The concession stands are a tad out dated with the food offered but hold true to an average concession stand. We went for the Harry Potter marathon which was totally awesome. I have never been to a drive-in and I was needing to watch a movie on a big screen since covid-19 shut the traditional theaters down. The whole experience was great. There were a lot of people there but it did not feel overly crowded. The concessions were some of the best I have had at a movie theater and much more affordable. The popcorn was hot and buttery. I regret never going to a drive-in before now. It was such a cool experience and I have already planned to go back for a scary movie. If you want to feel like you are stepping back to the 1960s and have wonderful theater experience I recommend you give this place a try. read more

It's all you could ask for from a drive in theater. I just wish it was closer! It's an outstanding price for two films ($8.50 per person). The screen is large enough to see clearly. You can bring your own concession but must pay $5 to bring them in. Be honest! You get a credit included toward their concessions in that price, also, though. The concessions there are simple, old-school snacks, candy, popcorn, hotdogs, ice cream bars, etc. We had one like this when I was growing up in Wisconsin. I hadn't been to this place in years but since the pandemic, I was very excited to go back to the drive in and have a safe and fun experience. Me and my family are huge Harry Potter fans and we were so excited when we heard that Holiday Auto Theatre was doing a Harry Potter marathon. It was so fun seeing small kids enjoy the movies that I grew up watching. The movies were wonderful and the atmosphere was great. They were serving butter beer and one of my favorite parts of this drive in is how affordable their concessions are. You can get a large popcorn and a large drink for less than $10. I would absolutely recommend coming here for anyone who is looking for a nice escape. One thing that I would love to see is maybe a bit more variety in the movies that they show. Um, let me see.. DRIVE IN MOVIE THEATRE.. that should be enough to wrangle in at least 3 stars if you ask me. I have always loved the drive in over the regular theater because you can sit in a car and have your shoes off with your feet out the window while talking to the person or group you came with and not get in trouble! I am partial to this theater in particular though because I grew up in Hamilton so I've been there many times throughout my life. One of my favorite occasions was when they were showing Twister and there was actually a huge thunderstorm that rolled through during the showing! Nothing like sitting in the car, in the dark with the windshield wipers on and the trees bending over while you're watching a movie about darkness and rain and trees bending over... When I was younger a grumpy old man owned the theater, and he had reason to be. The kids that came to the shows were a pain in the behind and would use laser pointers to occupy themself instead of watching the movie. Others would park too far away from the pole, and the old man used to drive through in a golf cart to yell at the patrons that didn't listen to his whims. Ahh Good times... :) There was some debate, I believe after he passed away. I'd heard that good old Larry Flynt was wanting to buy the theater to show his version of a movie, drive in style. The city and tax payers didn't want any part of that and thankfully some new owners came in and purchased the place. They restored it back to what it's been known and loved for throughout the years. When you drive up to the theater, you are greeted by the old marquee that proudly boasts 2 or 3 movies that will be playing that night. The sign is shaped like an arrow so it prompts you to turn in, and why wouldn't you want to? It's a drive in Theatre!! Holiday has the same old world charm that it always had and my personal fave is that they show the old commercials from the time period of when it opened. Makes me want a chilly dilly pickle and I don't even like pickles. I've watched movies of every genre here and would go more often if I only lived closer. You get two movies for the price of one, the comfort of sitting in your car or outside in chairs or blankets brought from home. You can bring your own food, or get it from the old fashioned concession stand. I think it's pretty "groovy." read more

It's been 30 years since I took my kids to a drive-in movie theater way up in Connecticut. My kids are grown and I am divorced but when I saw there was a theater in the area (even though 40 miles away) I had to check it out. For me as an old guy it was hard to enjoy every second of the nostalgia I experienced. I hope that this drive-in stays around forever as it's worth every penny. Concession stand was perfect especially during Covid times and movie pictures and sound perfect. I will go back when they re-open in April 2021. I go here a lot and the staff, the price, and the quality of movies is just unbeatable. It is nice to go to and hear the show, it is not a party drive in. Food in the stand is actually pretty good, some of the BEST that i have gotten inside a theater. I took my Grand-Daughter and my Niece ages 12- 9 out there and it was the 1st time they were ever at something like that and had a blast. It is a shame that part of America can soon be gone and IS gone for a lot of kids who will never experience it. It's a great Business, The Staff is great and i Strongly Recommend going. read more

I love this place! It's a good 45+ minutes from my house, but you just can't beat it on a nice summer day. It reminds me of being a kid. A bucket of chicken, a lawn chair and a ratty old speaker on a pole. Times have changed just a bit though. Now its a bucket of chicken, a lawn chair and your stereo tuned into the station. It's excellent for first run movies. For less than the price of one flick at the theatre you get two (sometimes three) movies. No one around you is talking and ruining the movie unless thy are someone you brought with you. Then it's really your fault for having noisy friends. It's also a good place to go if you want to see a movie, but none of your friends are available. You can enjoy the show in the privacy of your own car without looking like the lone loser in a theatre, buying two sodas so it appears as if you have a friend who never return from the restroom. You know who you are, I won't name any names. Anyway. Give it a go. You will love it. read more

Drive-in movie theaters are almost like a right of passage. You haven't lived/seen a movie, until you've seen it outside! I think I'm more depressed that i just recently stumbled upon this place than I am about anything else. Growing up in the middle of nowhere I had the luxury of not 1 but 2 drive-ins in my county, and now I don't think there's more than 10 in the state. Which is unfortunate, as this is a place that is absolutely perfect to bring a family or a small group of friends. The movies are surprisingly recently released movies, and some weekends are more kid themed than others, so you just need to check the website. $8 a person is a little steep in my opinion, especially when the concessions are a tad more expensive than they need to be, but when you think about that you'd pay at least that much to sit in a normal theater and only get one movie, you're getting 2 and sometimes 3 movies out of it. For the most part people are good about not parking in the middle and doing 2 cars in between the poles. But if its not crowded you can easily lay out blankets and lawn chairs and sit next to your car and turn the speakers up. The concessions aren't a bad deal, still cheaper than theater munchies. Its not rowdy, so if you're looking to go hang out and get drunk and watch a movie, this is not the place to do it. Everyone's normally pretty good about following the rules. The retro "commercials" at intermission between the movies are great. I kinda like that they give you a nice big break between movies, to take the little ones potty, get more snacks, stand up/wake up, but its kinda almost too long of a time gap. All in all, definitely should be on your list of summer time staples. read more

Can't beat the $8.50/person price for 2-3 movies. It feels like being transported to another era once you drive in and settle into your parking space. No having to worry about being annoyed by people's phones going off, chair kickers, or babies crying. You can check your own phone guilt-free too... my husband looked up sports scores a few times and I answered some texts. Beware of smokers though. The group next to us lit up so we rolled up our windows and stayed in the car to watch. I would go back, just wish it was closer to where I lived. Looking for a little retro-style fun? Head up to Oxford area to catch a drive-in movie at the fifties throwback Holiday Auto Theatre. This place was a high-school favorite, you used to be able to pay a "per car" price, but now each individual adult has to cough up the $8 entrance fee. If you bring your own food to the Holiday, you'll have to pay a $5 food permit fee as well. For your entrance fee you'll be able to watch a double-feature, though the Holiday is currently featuring a triple-feature of Drillbit Taylor at 8:15pm, The Spiderwick Chronicles at 10pm, and The Ruins at 11:45pm. Don't worry if you've never done the drive-in thing before, Holiday has strict rules and regulations posted for how and where to park your car. Tall vehicles like trucks and SUVs are required to park towards the back...but they're your best bet for watching the show in comfort, you can't really stretch out on top of a coupe. Once inside Holiday, tune your car's stereo to 90.7 for sound. The quality isn't always great; but you visit the Holiday for experience...not modern technology. read more

I really wanted to give the Holiday a five star rating, but, to be honest, I've been disappointed with the recent movie selections. In the past, the Holiday would occasionally show classic films. And let me tell you, there is nothing better than watching The Creature from the Black Lagoon(!) in 3-D(!) at the drive in(!). It seems like the owners have decided to stick to big budget films with a focus on children's movies. I guess I can't fault them for trying to make a profit; I can totally understand that. Part of me, though, can't help but feel a little nostalgic for the old days. Other than that little quibble, I love the Holiday Auto Theatre. The classic commercials between the films are great and the owners seem like genuinely nice guys. It's a great way to spend a night out with someone special. read more

The nostalgic drive-in is alive and well in Hamilton, Ohio, just 10 minutes from Miami University in Oxford Ohio, and 35 minutes from Cincinnati. Now, instead of catching shadows of teens making out, it's soccer mom-mobiles and kids sprawled out on sleeping bags, turning the drive-in into a family event - at a great value. Always running a double feature, the Holiday is a much better deal than the typical movie theater. Drive-in movies are one of our favorite summer activities. When Lauren gets out of school its one of the first things we do. We jumped the gun this year and went a week early so she could see the movie Tomorrowland. Usually we go to Starlite Drive-in in Batavia; but I wanted to see Hot Pursuit instead of Home, so we opted to go to Holiday Auto instead. It is kind of far out. It took about 48 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. The drive in itself was decent, but I prefer Starlite still. Holiday Auto didn't have a playground for the kids to play on while you wait for the movies to start. (You have to get there at minimum an hour early to get a good spot.) Without the playground there was nothing for Lauren to do for the hour but play on my phone. The screen and sound system were both good, and the price are the same as Starlite. I did find however that the snack-bar was a little pricier. They had a better selection of food, but everything was noticeably more. My biggest point of contention with them was the bathroom situation. It was a cute hot pink, but only one toilet would flush when we were there. The line was super long and it took almost 1/2 hr just to get through it after the first movie. Will i go there again? It depends on the movie. The drive being farther and the bathroom situation would make me continue to lean towards Starlite. Oh and I know this isn't 100% the Drive-ins fault, but people were smoking pot there and it smelled horrible. Especially by the concession stand. I felt the employees should have seeked out the person and stopped them. But they didnt and it smelled like that for the two movies we stayed for. It really bothered me because due to that, we had to keep our car windows rolled up and not sit outside. read more

The perfect spot for a summer movie night. You always get two movies for less than the price of a movie theater AND you get to watch your flicks under the stars. The concessions sell all the usual movie foods, but The Holiday gives you the option to buy a food pass and bring in whatever you want. The pass costs $5 but you then get money off if you want to get a drink or anything there. You aren't supposed to leave your car on during the movie but sometimes it is too hot and you just need to. The drive-in's horror movies from dusk-dawn was a bust. The first movie, "Crimson peak" was awful and couldn't hold my attention. The next movie was the original "Halloween II" but it was so awful and the rain started to I left and came home to watch my own, better selection of horror movies. In case you wondered, the next selections were "The Green Inferno" and "Saw" neither of which I really cared to see. I hope next year they have better movies. If you're going to show old ones, at least make sure yet are very good or classics! They also had people dressed in costumes wandering around. I don't know if they were checking on people to make sure they were behaving, but it was totally distracting. read more

I've gone here since I was little and the only bad experience I ever had was that the movie I really wanted to watch got messed up. They held off on dismissing everyone, but in the mean time they did hand out free drinks and popcorn as it was hot that night. Once they reported that the movie had caught fire, they handed out a free movie voucher for each car of people. Other than that one experience, which was handled pretty well, I've always enjoyed myself and the variety of movie combinations they put on. read more

Entrance fee is $8 a person for adults. There is tons of parking and it is on a bit of an incline so the other cars don't block your view. We came at 8:30 and there were plenty of great options as far as places to park. Bring bug spray some folding chairs and a frisbee or game to keep you entertained while you wait for it to get dark. Snacks are available such as candy, nachos, pickles, popcorn etc.. This is a Pepsi product place. Movie starts at 9:15 or whever it gets dark. The sound plays through your car radio. You just tune into 90.7. The sound is clear and the picture is actually pretty good. There are usually two features a night. We saw the new pirates movie and had a great relaxing night. read more

We haven't been to the drive in, in years! The kids loved the old concession stand commercials. But the best part of the trip was after an unfortunate incident occurred between my vehicle and one of the poles. Dale, Ashley, and Caleb, who were walking around closing up, came to the rescue! I was certain I was going to be leaving the vehicle there overnight and was going to have to pay to have someone to come fix it and possibly tow it out. But Dale, the master mind, had an idea. My only complaint with the Holiday is that it is not closer to my house. But that's not really something they can fix, now is it? I've been coming out here for years. Triple features are definitely not to be missed, and the all nighters are a feat of strength. Think about - you pay about the same if not less to get in than at a movie theater, plus you're getting two films instead of one. Plus, if you're a germaphobe like me, you only have to deal with the issues in your own vehicle. Win! Sure you don't get the digital screen fanciness that you get in the mega-theaters, but let's face it - some movies are much better seen at the drive-in. I've seen both Jaws (yes, they brought back Jaws!) and the Grindhouse duo here. I can't imagine seeing these any other way. read more

I haven't been to a Drive In since the early 80's, I wasn't expecting a Drive-In like this. The bathrooms are clean, the five dollar BYOF fee is very reasonable, it helps keep the place running, the movie print was very good, and so was the sound system. It's very well kept up. The patrons were amazing. At first, I wondered why no kids went to a Marvel movie, but after looking around, the place was full of kids. They were just that well behaved. I'll have to bring my dog next time. All the dogs there were leashed, and their owners were great about tending to them. There's definitely a next time. Movies had become too expensive to see in a sit down theatre, but I will be seeing more movies at the Holiday Auto Theatre. read more

I really need to go there more. FM reception, so if you have a beat box (like me), you will feel like you are in a theater sound wise. Food is top shelf for a drive in, and great even compared to several restaurants I have not been sad to leave. This place is amazzzazing!!! Ill include all the recent changes. The movies as of last week are in digital and the sound comes through your car stereo. $8.50 for adults &$5 for kids but if you buy a gift card for $30 you get a $5 card free.the only other drive in even remotely close in the Cinci area is starlite drivd in. Unlike starlite thr aren't a bunch of rules or added extra costs. Holiday is a great place to bring the family and friends. They always play a new release and often have midnight premiers. They always have either a double or triple feature and are open 7 days a week during the summer. The Owner Tod is a really cool guy that really cares about movies and the movie experience. Concession prices are very reasonable compared to what we're used to at showcase cinema. You can bring your own snacks and often we get Sonic on the way and eat when we get thr. I know Starlite charges you $5 for coolers or outside food and I've heard when the holiday is packed that they also will charge a fee, I've never had to do this though? We go every to every other weekend over the summer and often just up and decide to go often in the winter also. The atmosphere is great and I have nothing really negative to say. I do get upset when I don't have my son on a week when a film like monsters inc is playing and wonder why they can't just play it two weekends in a row but play return to oz 4 wks in a row? This annoys me. It is a 40 min drive for us but this has never stopped us. Parking between the poles? This sometimes bothers people, you should fit two cars between the poles and while on busy nights they will ask you to make room, even though some spots are smaller than others. If you don't mind this it really won't effect the feature. I do wish all SUV's (vans,trucks etc.) would not park in the first 3 or 4 rows. With thr rear windows up and interior exterior lights it will obstruct the view of a person behind them in a car and most do not think or worry about others around them. Thr is a rule in the rule sheet about this but the staff usually relies on the people bothered to say something. I cannot say that these things have ever ruined my experience personally but these are my only negatives which are more issues with any drive in theatre period. This should totally prepare you for a night at the Holiday Auto Theatre. read more

Very very busy. Make sure to arrive even before box office opens if you want to have a decent parking spot. We were stuck all the way in the back so it made it difficult to see the screen. Prices are great and concession prices are pretty good. Make sure you bring something for the kiddos to do before the movie it is quite a wait and they will be ready to go before the movie starts. Next time we will arrive earlier, bring stuff to occupy the kids, and our own food and drinks. Would definitely go back. read more

This venue is the best of my childhood memories along with improvements I appreciate as a father. The drive in always shows great first run movies. They have a play area in front so the kids don't get bored (2 - 92), just a field, but good for ball and just running around. Frisby's, football, etc. The lot is layed out well, parking for large vehicles is directed to areas where they don't block others. FM sound is great. The concession stand is great, good food, prices not too bad. They also have a food pass: PAY THIS IF YOU BRING FOOD IN, it's the least you can do for good people and you can still save a ton. The stand needs to be larger, bathrooms are limited (thank God I am male), and lines can be very long. The lot is patrolled and idiotic behavior is kept to a minimum (which is WAY different than the way I remember some). I've neve seen alchohol be a problem there. The worst thing is if some idiot shows up with a laser, and they will kick him out and ban him if you can spot them. Anyway: If you are a bored teenager looking to party and get loud, this won't happen here, they will kick you out if the crowd doesn't. If you want to have a great time in a calm place with good movies and nice people: Show up here. read more
