The staff was very sensitive, understanding and knowledgeable with each question and concern we had. Our hearts were filled with peace the day mom became a resident at Somerford because we knew we had made the right choice for her care. Mom quickly became apart of the community. She enjoys the wonderful new friends and staff that she gets to interact with daily. She is physically and mentally stimulated each day with different activities, singing, games, and special events from the well trained staff. The other lived up stairs and hammered on things at 2 in the morning. And the management did nothing.. I went to the office several times in tears!! It was awful ! The sadness of Your family member may mourn the loss of their independence and/or the home they are so accustomed to. They could be scared about aging, making new friends, finding their way in a new place. Many fears, I am sure. Well... Kenny made Jeannie feel confident about meeting new friends and fitting in. The staff seemed amazing and compassionate. Kenny walked Jeannie throughout the beautiful complex. Really explained in detail how everything works. Very nice. He also sat with us for at least an hour with answers to more specific personal preferences and inquiries. Never rushed us or acted put out. He has a really calming way about him and I really think he saved our family so much angst and worry. He sat there and listened to every question and had very informative answers. I would recommend Brookdale to anyone, heck everyone! Kenny is just a real asset to Brookdale Corp. Maybe that is why he has been there something like 17 years. He does not look nearly old enough. My beautiful dear friend was very pleased with her physical therapy. So I'm happy when I see her smile.

I felt as if she were reading from a script that she didn't want to read and that she had made up her mind that we were not the " type " of people whom she would want. Our loved one has the best insurance and if anything wasn't covered we could easily pay the cost. The odd thing about it is this facility does not have a on site physician , he must be called. The clients did looked engaged and healthy but after discussing it we decided NOT to consider this facility.

I am the son of the couple looking for assisted living and memory care so I started this search and got the first couple tours. Chelsea was in charge of the tours and presenting pricing etc. to me/us. She did an outstanding job, is very educated on the facility, is a great salesperson, and also appears to be a great friend to everyone who lives there. There was no pressure and she was able to answer any questions. She even came in on a Sunday when that was the only day for my Dad to see the place. My parents are relocating from another state which made this all the more difficult, and Brightwater and Chelsea in particular really helped us out.

Over the years both of my parents have been in a variety of SNFs in the Inland Empire…read more My mom was a patient at Heritage Gardens in February. Where do I begin...her treatment on every level was horrible. The physical therapy was a joke. The med staff ignored the as needed pain meds and gave them to her every 4 hours instead of as needed, this kept her groggy and unable to truly tell how she was recovering. As her point of contact I had to step in nearly every day of her stay and despite meeting with the director was met with excuse after excuse. Here are some specific examples --- 1. I was on the phone with my mom and a bed transport entered the room to pick her up for a doctor appointment that wasn't hers. If I hadn't been on the phone they would have taken her plus she would have been charged $150 each way. Uggg. I had to talk with the head nurse and absolutely refuse the transport. Hours later we found out that the transport was for her roommate. 2. Multiple times during her stay the staff did not reconnect her call button. I made countless drives to Heritage Gardens, which is 15 minutes from my house, and still got to her before anyone came to help. Once she waited for over 1 hour for assistance to the restroom. Crazy. Still I made it to her before anyone came to help. The frustrating thing is when I arrived the staff is chatting about personal things in the hall and not helping the patients. 3. The food was disgusting. Often the menu and the delivered food did not match. It was usually lukewarm at best. In the two weeks she was never offered fresh fruit or fresh veggies. 4. When I asked for copies of the notes from her care boy did I get the run around. To say the least the right hand and left hand have different answers. It took almost a week and a meeting with the director. 5. My mom's roommate did not speak English. The way the staff treated her was beyond horrible. It was sad. I could go on but if you have a choice do not send anyone you love to this facility. Unfortunately, insurance gave this as my mom's only choice. We found an out of pocket place and within a day my mom started making amazing gains in a positive direction. It's sad as not everyone has that as an option. I my opinion this place should have its doors closed permanently.

Her room was nicely neat, it smelled fresh and she was happy. I got to sit with her during lunch and they served an amazing meal (with greens, cornbread, chicken and black eyed peas)! Wow! It smelled so wonderful it made me hungry too!! I had an opportunity to sit in on my great aunt in an activity. The interaction was so respectful and nice. The activity was crafting a necklace and the coordinator was so patient and helpful. Braswells give me a confident feeling that my great aunt is cared for properly. Finally I realized she needed more than me to help her, so I toured Braswells Chateau Villa. Imagine my surprise when I received a nice welcome upon my arrival. Right away I noticed the spaciousness of the dining room and these beautiful high chandeliers. I got to listen to a resident play the piano beautifully in the lounge. I was impressed with the courtyard in the middle of the building with an elegant stone waterfall. I got to meet the activities director and got an activities calendar. Immediately I knew this was the right place for my mom. So, I moved her in and I am happy to see her thriving and wanting for nothing. Just what I wanted for her senior years.
