We decided to stop in to check it out and I'm so glad we did. We were greeted immediately by Jerome, who was extremely welcoming. He told us a little bit about the store and its history. We let him know that it was our first time stopping in and wanted to see what types of items they sold. There are many, many fun items and I look forward to stopping by again to take a longer look at the great offerings that they have. I had a chance to spot a fun crystal that will be perfect to give a friend that recently opened a new business. The crystal is a selenite mini egg which is good for purification and new beginnings. There are many different crystals available, at many price points. If you are looking for some, this is a great place to shop!

You can tell Jerome puts so much thought, care and love into everything he chooses for the store. But for me, what makes this place truly special is the energy. I discovered General Wax earlier this year when I thought candle making would be a fun hobby. I brought a friend along to their North Hollywood location for what was advertised as an educational class. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like a class much at all but more like an activity. The 'instructor' claimed to sell her own candle creations, yet seemed surprisingly unknowledgeable. Our group was outspoken and asked lots of questions, but she was incredibly vague and nonchalant. When asked basic technical questions like how different fragrances react with specific waxes or how to choose the right wax for a project, she couldn't even provide clear answers. I really didn't learn much of anything at this paid class. (Fyi, I turned to YouTube!) The store itself is spacious and well organized, but be very careful with their pricing. I've found that many of their supplies are significantly marked up compared to local craft stores or Amazon. For example, I bought a digital scale here that turned out to be a non-functioning and non-reliable piece of trash. After some research, I realized they charged me three times more than better models available online. Thankfully, I was able to return it. Their fragrance selection and quality is mostly great and I do like their wax. The staff doesn't go out of their way to help but are approachable and friendly. What prompted this review today was a total lack of communication regarding their hours. I checked their website before leaving my house to ensure they were open. The only holiday closure banner on their website was for a holiday that happened months ago (labor day). After a 40-minute drive, I arrived to find the gates closed. I had to pull over and call, only to hear a recording stating they are closed for the next 10 days for holidays and inventory. It's incredibly irritating to waste that much time and gas because a business can't be bothered to update their website. Honestly, it shows that they don't really value their customers or their time.

When you walk inside you are surrounded by all things Christmas decor. Even though it is a sensory overload, they do divide each room by color themes. You can find all the pink/candy decor in one area, frosty white decor in another, red candy cane, forest green, black and white checkered and more. The details on these items are beautiful, especially the glittery flower stems. Some are even just made of jewels. You could spend a lot of time just taking it all in, just be careful not to get glitter in your eyes as there is a ton of glittery merchandise. The receipt address I own currently stated 'Studio City,' CA and Not 'Los Angeles.' Also, parking can get a tad tricky, but I bought something from 7-Eleven around the corner and left my car there. I just left my receipt on my dashboard stating I was customer at 7-Eleven. I also left the hot dog box on my dashboard too. My car was fine and safe parking at 7-Eleven for just a couple of hours. Their on-site counselor is Leo today on Tuesday, 01/16/24, and he was once again, extremely Spot On. He even uncovered another fact that other counselors didn't cover from previous sessions I've attended which made his session stand out more!!!! I've signed up for a 'Cleansing,' appointment with him tomorrow to get rid of All negativity that may still stuck around me for no reason at all or 'negative aura,' you might say to prepare for my 'Next Steps,' in my work life. All these counseling sessions I have been attending have been all extremely on point and spot on and not even once made up. Especially at the ending of our session, that was just beyond fabulous. I totally recommend Leo if you need your life's 'next steps',' clarity and guidance. I will be visiting tomorrow for my cleansing session with Leo. I bought something to support this Crystal Shop today, A bottle of 'Release,' Spa spray. The scent stood out to that of a spa-like scent, and I actually got the last bottle!!!! The cashier, Lana, on site was super helpful too and beyond friendly: she gave me an overall tour of the store's displays so I know what items were organized at what table. I wanted to buy incense and a card deck. The clerk asked me if I needed help and I asked her why she was not wearing a mask. "Does it bother you?" she asked. "Yes it bothers me," I responded. "It's the law!" She didn't even have a mask at hand! She went off to find a mask and was gone so long I gave up. They lost a sale. The law is very clear. And as of tomorrow, November 4, it is state law that you cannot walk into a store/building/restaurant without a mask and proof of vaccine. I went into many stores on Tujunga today, even MHR's sister store and everyone wore a mask. Shame on MHR. Shame!
