Property: Pretty dated. Needs a really big update Cleanliness: Meh. Rooms smell musty. There was some moderate dust but wasn't horrible. It just doesn't smell fresh. Service: Hit or miss. Some of their staff were quite friendly, however most seemed like they would rather work elsewhere. Internet: Terrible. Likely the worst I've seen in hotels. As a business traveler, this s really important. I don't just mean slow.. I mean when I ran a speed test there was a lot of packet loss, download speeds were very slow, upload speeds were terrible, signal jitter was pretty high as well, along with very high latency. Trying not to be too picky since the casino comped the room, but they are renovating and still filling the rooms regardless of construction. Be prepared for the hammering/sanding/worker noises at 7am. The beds were fine, but with half eaten beef jerky in the night stand. The bath was stained with mildew, shower curtain smelled like it as well. The toilet wouldn't flush the first night. They did have a keurig and mini fridge. Breakfast: first morning everything was cold, rubbery eggs, bacon was good, cinnamon rolls warm on the outside and cold on the inside. Second morning everything was much better except for cinnamon roll. Sausage was hot but hard to chew. Out of water both days. Just get the bacon if they have it! This hotel is under construction and is definitely in need of the upgrades. Stayed there most recently in May and the pool was yellow and the room smelled so bad of chlorine you couldn't be in the room, very disappointing for the kids. The rooms looked and smelled old. During various times our room filled up with the odor of cigarette smoke, even though it's a no smoking hotel. The long term guests clearly weren't following the no smoking rules. I'm giving this 2 stars because of the staff and management as well as the free breakfast. Management was very professional about handling my complaints and addressing my issues. I will stay again but not until construction is completed. read more

Customer service was not bad at all, nice front desk staff, and the room was decently clean, but this place needs some tlc...the carpet in our room had multiple large stain marks, shower grout was peeling and moldy, the tub floor and toilet bowl were chipped/stained, bathroom floor tiles cracked. There was a random mildew smell, not overpowering, but present nonetheless...it wasn't in the bedding, so I'm guessing it was in the carpet, but I didn't get on my hands and knees to verify. The elevator was also broken, which was a shame since we were on the 3rd floor. Luckily, we're healthy and able to climb three flights of stairs with all our luggage. Believe what you read! The reviews of this hotel are accurate. I arrived for a week long business trip alone with luggage for a week and was told that my room was on the 3rd floor and the elevator was out of order. So I made multiple trips hauling my things up 3 flights of stairs. The hallway smelled like someone was cooking something that smelled like dirty armpits. It appeared that maybe people were living here. The hallways and stairways were filthy. I was in a king suite which was very outdated but the one positive thing I can say is it was clean. The website advertised that there were usb plug ins in the rooms. Not this one. The first floor carpet was soaked and actually squished when I walked on it. The pool is out of order and it doesn't appear anyone is doing anything to it. I didn't care about the pool but those wanting a pool might. The breakfast is mediocre. Nothing to brag about. I would not stay here again. This is the worst holiday inn express I've ever stayed in. read more

I did not stay at this hotel and here is why: The amount charged to my card was $100 more than what was listed on their website. When I called about it I was told...taxes...fees...extra person charge. (I booked a two queen bed room for 4 ppl) So the gentleman who took my call said he could offer me a 1 time special discount of 10%. When I didn't want that and was going to cancel, he offered me a one time special offer of 15% off. Still not close to what was online, I decline so he then offered me a 1 time special offer of 20% off. By this time I am getting upset about this "game" and tell him to cancel the reservation. He was going to look into what else he could do for me for the 4th time....um...NO! If the date had not been far enough out, I would have been charged a cancelation fee. In summary, the bait and switch type practice of this hotel makes me not want to consider this chain for any future travel plans. If they treat customers that way before they even get there, What should I expect once arrived? Oh yeah, I have two wait 3-5 days for my card to be credited. I don't like carrying balances on my card and now having to make a reservation elsewhere, that increases the balance on that card for nearly a week! read more

Ok. Where to start? I ended up her because my normal hotel choice was booked and I had to get a room somewhat in the area. I'm an gig platinum member, so I know what to expect from this hotel chain. The front desk staff was nice, and the bed was comfortable. From there it gets sketchy. Pealing wallpaper, "mystery stains" on the chair/ottoman, a light directly outside of my room that I couldn't block out because the curtains didn't close all the way, the shower curtain didn't stop a pool of water from forming on the bathroom floor, the breakfast area wasn't ready for breakfast almost an hour after they started serving it. No pancakes, cinnamon rolls, juice, or coffee. The oatmeal was basically uncooked oats, and the bananas were brown. Not ripe, brown. Apparently a large group of kids had cleared out the breakfast area before I got down there according to another guest. The desk was large and had plenty of space to work, but the room didn't have enough light to get work done comfortably. Would I stay here again? If I had to. Would I necessarily be happy about it? The manager is nice, the rooms are not. The first room we were given had a strong odor, a chemical smell and marijuana. The second room we were put in was #417. The sheets are clean, but the mattress is worn out, sagging and noisy with just sleep. The bathroom light is not working over the mirror, and the water pressure is terrible and the shower head is nasty. The water is pouring out from the ball on the faucet, there is mold in the shower. Reserved a room at this Holiday Inn Express specially based on location. Planned to do bridal hair and makeup here for a friend. Staff was very nice! Allowed us to use the room longer than normal for the event. Beds were comfy and clean. Had a mini fridge in our room. Small sofa for sitting. Everything around the facility was clean! Parking lot decently sized. Please don't take the elevator if you're rushing...it's super slow! They do offer a continental breakfast daily. Had a planned stay at this location because the HIX in Muncie was full when we tried booking. A room became available in Muncie so we booked it. When I canceled the reservation at Anderson I was charged the full price of my stay for two nights. Apparently this was their cancellation policy. I contacted the hotel to ask them to reverse the cancellation and reinstate my rooms since I was going to have to pay for them anyway. They declined because they have already booked the room. My fault I guess. However that wont prevent me from no longer staying at Holiday Inn Express. Very poor customer service at this location. read more

Dated rooms but adequate. Good shower pressure. Still doing breakfast from 6:30 - 9:30am. Or at least what the sign says. Came down a little after 6:30am and placed locked up. Asked front desk and said they were calling manager. Called down from room at 7:00am and still not open. Went down at 7:30am and just finished the eggs. At least my breakfast was hot! Cinnamon rolls as delicious as ever!!! However went back down at 9:25am and locked up again. No one at front desk. So while it's nice they are still serving hot breakfast don't trust the hours posted. BTW, you get the breakfast to go from a server so you have to tell them what and how much you want. read more

Decent hotel but don't expect anything great. The first thing I noticed was the overall smell, I was hoping to get in a quick workout at the fitness center located in the hotel but it was hot and stuffy and smelled like a 'moldy pool'. The whole hotel has a musty smell to it :/ The hotel provides a free breakfast downstairs (very good omlets, but the meat was lukewarm). The rooms and beds are relatively clean, and comes with a microwave and fridge.. The only complaint about the rooms is I wish they would vacuum the floors, and clean to get rid of all the dust. Most Holiday Inns are superb, but this one was far from it. I won't be coming back. read more

Several reasons I would recommend running from this hotel: *Upon check-in I had to get the clerks (Ty) attention, because he was writing a note about what number to call if he wasn't at the desk. Then was told by him that the town was boring and full of "dopers". I had a horrible headache and needed to sleep, or I would not have stayed there at all. I took extra precautions to make sure someone would have to work very hard to get into my room. *When I spoke to the manager Amber on the phone the next morning to cancel my reservation and get a refund, I was told that I had purchased a pre-paid room so no refund. I know I chose a refundable room, so maybe something in their website switched it? I dunno, but I will be reading the fine print much more carefully now. *My Boss called and spoke to Amber who called me a liar. At that point I realized that they really were all about the money and didn't care about the customers staying at the hotel. I didn't even care about the refund as much as being treated with some kindness. *I was not able to access the Holiday Inn website by using my VPN, so I turned it off and it took me to a dummy site with fishing phone numbers. *Hotel felt old and grimy. Needs a good cleaning and update, paying special attention to things like lighting (very dark), peep-hole covers, which almost every hotel I stay in has. read more

Workers are very rude, breakfast isn't the most appetizing, sheets are clearly not washed considering there was hair in the bed as well as in the bathtub. The walls are moldy and have stains, carpet has lots of stains, do not have bibles, some rooms smelled like ash trays and like people have smoked in there for the past 10 years and the whole place has a musty smell and an eerie kind of vibe to it. There's a couple of much nicer hotels within 20 minutes of here that I would strongly encourage you to stay at instead. read more

Let me start by stating that we travel all around the U.S. and find that Holiday Inn Express is usually a pleasant and dependable stay. The Anderson HIE was no exception. This hotel appears to be newer (perhaps built within the last couple of years). The rooms here were clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The beds were laid out in their seasonal luxury--soft white sheets, blanket, comforter, and coverlet, including firm and soft pillows. Their free breakfast was the usual tasty spread: omelets, sausage, cereal selections, milk, juice, fruit, biscuits and gravy, their signature cinnamon rolls, different muffins/pastries, and even pancakes. The hotel is a little further back from the main road which made it nice and quiet. It's a short drive from the interstate, stores and restaurants. We had two parties traveling together and had two rooms reserved. One party was able to check in early and then also check out later the next day with no problems. I should also let you know that we changed our reservations (within 24 hours) from a location in Fort Wayne to this location by phone with no hassles. Five stars for Holiday Inn Express in Anderson, Indiana! read more

On November 26th, I reserved two hotel rooms under the same reservation. Each room contained two adults. This was confirmed with reservation #42544311. Exhibit A shows this reservation. Check-in was for December 3rd and check-out was for December 4th. The hotel was Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Anderson, Indiana. The street address is 6720 South Scatterfield Road. One confirmation was received for reservation #42544311. Exhibit B shows 2 rooms with 4 adults total. Exhibit C shows the confirmation number again as #42544311 as being for 2 rooms for a total of $454.12. The cancellation policy is also shown at the bottom of Exhibit C. Exhibit D shows I received only one confirmation email with the number 42544311. It also shows my cancellation confirmation email on November 30th. Exhibit E shows our reservation cancellation with a confirmation number of 37455688. The number of rooms was incorrect but the number of adults was correct. Exhibit F shows our cancellation of reservation 42544311 which again shows one room but both rooms were under the same number. Nowhere was there an option to cancel half of the reservation. I assumed this was an input error or a computer error but since the reservation number was correct it was cancelled. Exhibit G shows part of my conversation with Tamra Mallets from the hotel where she clearly states there is an issue with IHG's reservation system. I contacted Tamra again in early December and requested her manager's name and contact information but she will not email me back with this information. Despite her admitting there is a computer issue on their end, we were still charged for one room. Again, there was no way to cancel half of a reservation. I do not recommend this hotel for any reason especially due to the shady business practices. I have stayed in many hotels and have never had an issue or have ever been able to cancel half of a reservation. read more

We were not made aware of this until the day before our reservation, and NO time were we told the extent of the work being done. we had a big group with two rooms total. Part of our group was put on the Floor where the carpet was being ripped out. They literally had to step over rolls of carpet to get to their room. Our room was not clean. The carpet outside our room was extremely dirty. The breakfast was cold and I mean ICE cold and the manager was extremely rude to one of our party when she complained about the carpet roll and the carpet glue that was now all over her shoes. The room was clean and loved the high powered shower head. The breakfast was awesome and the hostess was very warm and inviting.

I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express but this was terrific.. Lobby was spotless, Check in was lightning fast and friendly. The Room was huge with a fridge and microwave, spotless carpet very clean, bathroom sparkled. Linen was clean beds super comfy.. Free breakfast next day was more than adequate. check out super quick and efficient. No complaints at all. Everything worked everything was A+ I will be back! read more

We mentioned to the desk clerk that we had a terrible stay down there last night. He offered us an upgrade and was fun & friendly to chat with. Hotel is nice. That's about it. I stayed here Friday night 3/15/13. Everything was fine until we came back from the casino. The power went out right when as we pulled up, it was midnight. We got the room with the whirlpool tub and had no opportunity to use it until then. It was our anniversary, that is why we were paying so much extra for an executive suite. We were unable to use it, so we went to speak to the people at front desk. They told us it was an act of God and looked at us like we were idiots!! What are we supposed to do about it they said... I understand that they cannot control the power but they acted like it was a major BURDEN to even try to rectify the situation in anyway. An older lady scoffed and offered us 10 dollars off of our room. We said that was at least some sort of gesture and went back to our room. Well, looking at my bank statement right now... THEY CHARGED US AN EXTRA 10 DOLLARS instead and on top of that we were denied late check out even though we are priority rewards members. Priority customers? I think not. read more

My husband's assistant booked this room for us at the beginning of March... the same room that she booked for us last time we were in town. She knew exactly what room as we had stayed there before in the family suite. Upon arrival, we were informed that room was booked and we had not booked the correct room. I told them there was just no way that could work, so she called the manager (who was angry about being called, she should talk quieter on the phone), who adamantly insisted it was our fault. The lady at the desk tried to calm her down and was able to talk her into giving us adjoining rooms. That was when the trouble began. My husband called ahead of time to check on dogs. We were told that it was fine, they would mark them as a service dog and it was more than okay. We got through the first day without a problem and returned to be informed by the front desk staff that the manager was very upset, it's service dogs only policy and our dogs are a problem and that we might get asked to leave irregardless the next morning by management. We were shocked to say the least. We came upstairs expecting them to be barking, but they were asleep and completely content in their crate as always. Regardless, we took them with us in the morning and put them in my husband's new office and found a person we had just met and his wife, to keep them for us immediately. The next day I was stopped again, this time to be informed that I had trashed the hallway on the fourth floor by leaving trash everywhere. The actual facts were that I wasn't requesting housekeeping (apparently in this hotel if you don't go hunt down housekeeping specifically and request to have your room cleaned it does not get cleaned) and I just needed the trash to go so I had set it right outside our door for them as they came by. (That's the only way you can seem to get your trash emptied here, but again I wasn't complaining.) I was told that was a lie and the hallway was trashed as a result of me. We have also been corrected that in the breakfast area at 3 in the afternoon the door can't be shut even for 5 minutes. We have been directed again on trash. And these are just a few of the examples. One day I went to the front desk to speak with a kind employee and asked if we had offended management in some way and explained what was happening and she said "oh I'm so sorry by the way, I'm the one who messed up your booking. I was distracted and booked the wrong room. That was my fault not yours." (Again lying by management above her). She also stated that she had witnessed it and if it was her family she would be furious. I asked her to please pass on to management that we were unhappy and needed the harassment to stop. Tonight we came in and were again accused of leaving dirty diapers. My husband went back down and calmly explained to the front desk that we have not left any trash or dirty diapers and we're again informed that there was again a "note from the manager" (that's always the case) to inform us. My husband said very kindly we just haven't done it and we don't normally have problems like this at a hotel and your front desk's response was "I have a hard time believing that one." By the way, when I called her attempting to speak to management, she raised her voice, told me she was being "yelled at" for the same thing again, she admitted to saying "I have a hard time believing that," told me in a smart aleck town that I'm such a polite person to speak to and hung up on me. My husband has contacted corporate and opened a case file on this situation. We are planning to pursue this further until an appropriate remedy is found. read more

They point to where to initial your check in, but BE SURE you check the rate changes!!! When confronted, they were not willing to work with us at all!! No good food at breakfast. Here I am prepared to be underwhelmed by sugary pastries, yogurt, bagels and a basket of Granny Smiths. Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, BISCUITS AND GRAVY, (above average) warm cinnamon rolls, toast, muffins, oatmeal, cold cereals. They even had a "pancake machine"! Only complaint is the lack of fruit (only had bananas, but nothing with juice in it) and the coffee was WAY weak. Just stayed here Friday til Saturday. After seeing so many good reviews I was stunned to check in room 315. Whatever the spray in the room to make you think it's clean caused sinus problems with us. We found the room was overall dusty which makes you wonder how often they wipe things down, AC unit was filthy (thinking a smoker by the window caused this), food crumbs in the dresser, food/drink stain on desk chair, stains on chair and bench, it hasn't been thoroughly vacuumed in many days, fridge was filthy and disgusting, bathroom shower had mold/mildew in the grout, everything in the bathroom is old and outdated. OMG WHERE TO START! First, we arrived early which was great but we arrived early to swim and enjoy a girls weekend without our spouses and kids. The pool stunk like mold and when we told the front desk the response was nonchelant and rebutaled with "it is cleaned weekly"! They took $20 off our bill. I called the front desk more than I have at any hotel I've ever stayed at. Staff at front desk was accommodating for every issue but room was just gross, not clean.
