The place was great and we were happy that we found this hidden gem. The check-in was easy and we made ourselves at home. There was plenty of room on the beds for two adults and two kids as well as drawer space for clothes in the double queen room. There is even a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. Our kids loved it and we were able to sleep comfortably. The complimentary breakfast was a hit! We ate there two mornings in a row and yes, I had another waffle...lol. The second waffle of the adventure ;) You can make your own waffle and it is the bomb!!! There was a variety of cereals, bagels, fruits, pastries, coffee, and juices to fill up on. It was busy with hotel guests coming and going both times we were there, so that's a very good thing. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area, I recommend staying here. The housekeeping kept the room clean with the beds made and towels changed during our stay. The Wifi connection didn't work that well for us and we ended up using the mobile hotspot on our phones. Overall, our experience was great and the staff made us feel at home.

It was a fairly late check-in, around 10 pm, so the parking lot was quite full. It took one of those drive-around-the-building-twice trips before I found a suitable spot to park my wonder wheels.. At the front desk I was CHEERFULLY greeted by the tag team of Chris and Kayla! Kayla ended up handling my check-in. After a little 'speed-bump' that she handled like Mario Andretti, I was settling into a wonderfully sweet suite with a big bubbling tub! Thank YOU! My room was very clean, comfortable and spacious! And that big bubbling tub was begging me to bathe! I accepted the offer and soon I was soaking away the blues of the day.... The bed? Well, let me say I slept like a baby! (NO! No drool or downstair disasters! LOL). In the morning I awoke with a fresh rejuvenated smile on my face. I was recharged and raring to go! Of course, I took advantage of the free breakfast offerings in the lobby. It was clean, well stocked and not crowded. I got my fill and I was fine. For me, the INN was OUTstanding! I would definitely recommend this hotel, but I also want to give an honest review because there are a few things future guests should know. First, the location is excellent! You're right in downtown Tampa and conveniently located near the convention center. The hotel has a beautiful historic feel--I was told the property is around 100 years old--and I loved that the renovations maintained its character instead of making it feel like every other hotel. I had a spacious corner room with a large bathroom, and I was very comfortable. Unfortunately, when I first arrived, I found hair in the shower. I took a picture and notified the front desk. I travel with cleaning supplies, so I handled it myself, but cleanliness upon arrival definitely needs more attention. I also requested housekeeping on certain days and had a couple of instances where my room wasn't serviced. Once I brought concerns to the front desk, however, they were responsive and worked to resolve them. Valet is basically your most convenient parking option. During my stay, the hotel changed valet companies, but guests weren't properly notified. I discovered the change one morning when trying to retrieve my vehicle. That's something management should communicate directly to guests, especially when the hotel is responsible for their vehicles. Now, the complimentary shuttle within three miles is a GREAT amenity, particularly for business travelers. However, during our conference there were sometimes around 20 people waiting for a shuttle that seated approximately seven. The driver would take one group, return, and repeat the process. Hotel Flor should consider having two shuttles during conferences or high-occupancy periods. It's an excellent benefit, but it needs enough capacity to actually accommodate the guests using it. I also enjoyed having Dan's restaurant and the coffee shop right inside the hotel. The food at Dan's was good, prices were reasonable, and eligible Hilton food and beverage credits could be used there. The coffee shop could use a little more variety, but Starbucks is only about a block away. The location, spacious room, historic atmosphere, restaurant, shuttle, and overall convenience outweighed the issues I experienced. Hotel Flor has personality, which I appreciate. Improve the housekeeping consistency, communication, and shuttle capacity, and this property could be an exceptional downtown Tampa stay. For business travelers, conference attendees, or anyone wanting to stay downtown without being in a cookie-cutter hotel, I definitely recommend giving Hotel Flor a try.

A special shoutout to Maria, who was incredibly kind and went out of her way to look for a specific hot tea for me. First, you are directed to a room with paint peeling off the ceiling that reeked so badly of mildew that you worry the place might be a health hazard. So you try to call the front desk, only to realize the phone doesn't work. Cell phone it is. You're taken to an alternative room, which at least doesn't smell like mildew. But like the rest of the place, it is filthy and so badly in need of repair that you worry the place might close down any minute. Nevermind though, you need a hot shower and rest. You notice the half used toilet paper roll just sitting on the counter (what bathroom doesn't have a toilet paper holder?). The brown ring of gunk around the shower mat. You steady yourself. Just a hot shower and a good night's sleep, and you'll deal with it in the morning. But oh no! No hot water for you. The best this mildewy shower can do for you is a lukewarm trickle. You shiver as you take your lukewarm shower trying to ignore the brown water that's sloshing out from under the shower mat. You scrub yourself as "clean" as you can get in a place like this and long for sleep. Theres no "do not disturb" sign to hang on the door. The toilet doesn't flush properly and the water runs forever, so you bust out your handyman skills to turn it off. Maybe they should be paying you instead of the other way around? But what do you know, the bedside lamps only work with the toggle switch NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR. As you paw your way through the darkness to try and get to your bed, a loud argument ensues in the hallway and a dog starts yapping incessantly. You blearily reach for your earplugs and pray for rest. If this sounds like a good time to you, by all means stay at this hotel.

The court yeard looked nice & the water feature presented a nice spot for photos. The cleaning staff came around every morning & gave my room clean towels & took our trash as needed. So appreciated after the long day. The restaurant options were great - easy onsite access with a wide range of choices. We found ourselves at Anchor and Brine a few times because of the waterfront view. We went to the pool to relax at the end of the day whenever we could. Dylan made us feel like family. Offering to take or bring or adjust anything we needed with the sincere energy of positive care and respect. We watched him work and maintain the area while offering service or assistance to everyone who came in. Rock star. The only knock was the congested and, as a result, a very slow valet experience. They were working hard, but space was hard to come by and some guests struggle with sense of urgency.
