BUT Hilton seems to have cut corners with this Spark brand, which I found to be annoying and unacceptable: "Breakfast" is deficient, IMO; there are NO hot eggs, meats, pancakes or waffles. There are Bagels, cold cereal, muffins, yogurt available. There is NO in-room coffee, which I had come to expect from Hilton. There is no in-room wall-mounted thermostat; you need to negotiate the clumsy wall/window unit. There is only one ice machine, located on the first floor. For that matter, there is only one elevator. Entire hotel uses those small, round-bowl toilets, which are not at all accommodating to the male anatomy. Spark is the first hotel I've been to that uses these deficient bowls. What are the management thinking? Shower walls have no grab-bars and no footrest, which ladies seem to prefer. Room door was very poorly sealed - this could prove deadly in a smoke or fire situation. "by Hilton" has been my go-to brand for many years. But it appears that Spark by Hilton has missed the mark. What are they thinking?

Against my better judgement, we still were going to stay 1 night if our 2 night stay (husband was already looking for another place for the second nigh). We got checked in and spent the next 15 minutes or so unloading our things. once get settled in the room, we noticed the dead bugs on the bed and pillow, mold behind the door and in the corners, as well as the issue that the room had been smoked in recently (even though it was rented to us as a non smoking). My daughter and I are extremely allergic to cigarette smoke. Not even 30 minutes later we are both struggling with our throat constructing and difficulty breathing. We both had to use our rescue inhalers to try to lessen the severity of the asthma attack it triggered. We immediately packed our things back up and went to check out. Upon letting the front desk clerk know the issues, she offered to move us to a room on the second floor. We declined as at this point, it was a health issue for us to stay there. I asked for a refund and was denied since we had been in the room for over 30 minutes (but less than an hour). Lesson learned- trust my gut the first time. If you or anyone in your party has allergies, asthma, or a lowered immune system- do not stay here.

The hotel is well lit and has vending machines available. We didn't hear any freeway noise despite being so close, but could hear the people in the room next to us and lots of hallway noise. They have elevators if you're on an upper floor- we didn't see luggage carts (not sure if they had any if you asked). Our bathroom was dirty and there was a fake eyelash on the wall and a pubic hair on the side, so that was off putting and we decided not to use the shower, but the rest of the room appeared to be clean.

The nature trails are very nice though, lots of wildlife and peace & quiet. We were told during check in that it was considered a " drug free " campground but constantly found our camper smelling like weed through out the day and late at night. While we made it a priority to clean up and pick up after our dogs, others don't so watch your step. If you don't get a concrete pad make sure you have extra blocks to level your camper, the gravel slips are on a steep hill and the slips are not very level. The managers were very nice and stayed busy making improvements while we were there. Town is about 10 minute drive, and the Mountain View's are just a quick drive away.
