I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Covington. I came here for a long weekend to visit the sites of where they filmed the Vampire Diaries and the Originals. This hotel includes breakfast and was about a 40-50 minute car ride to the airport. Staff were always pleasant whether it was at the check-in desk, housekeeping, or when we were getting breakfast. Get there early for breakfast. There are warm cinnamon rolls, sausage, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, a pancake machine, potatoes, cereal, yogurt. From our experience, they stop refilling the breakfast food around 10:15 am, and it ends at 11 am. The pool rarely had anyone and was a decent size. The chairs had spider webs on them, so one improvement would be to have those wiped down. There was also an outdoor area where guests could enjoy tables with little fires on them in the evening. We were never outside at night, so I don't know if that part was still functional. There was ample parking on all sides of the building, and this hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Aldi, Taco Bell, Walmart, Waffle House, and a few other establishments. It is about a 10-minute drive to the town square, where Mystic Grill and the clock tower are for any TVD fans. The room was spacious for two people and was clean. I liked that there was a mini fridge, a Keurig, and a microwave. Most of the hotels I've stayed at in recent years did not have a microwave. I took off a star because the bathroom door does not provide much privacy, and the elevator swings a bit when you step onto it. a bit when you step onto it. The hotel is beautiful -the hotel is clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, so WHY did they get four stars instead of five??? It has everything to do with the bathrooms!! The bathrooms have a sliding barn door which is super trendy and really pretty. But it is absolutely not functional! There is NO PRIVACY with this type of door! Imagine you are traveling with friends...Even with the door shut, the gaps on each side of the door allow others to see into the bathroom when someone is in there taking a shower!! It's not like you're even trying to look, if you just walk by, the gaps are big enough that you just automatically can see what's going on in there And even WORSE, if someone is trying to use the toilet, there is no sound barrier because of the open gaps in the barn door and it makes it VERY uncomfortable. One of my friends would leave the room and use the toilet in the lobby which was clean and usually unoccupied and had regular doors so they wouldn't be embarrassed using the one in our room! So again, imagine you're with a bunch of friends and you're trying to take a private shower, or even a private moment on the toilet, it is just not going to happen! Super uncomfortable!!!! I was refused WATER! For breakfast they provide you a bottle of water free with your meal. However When I ask for a bottle I was told they were out of water in the hotel! LIES!!! As you check in there is a table with about 15 - 20 bottles of water on it along with some snacks. Being thirsty I asked for one of those bottles and was told they ARE ONLY FOR MEMBERS!!! WTH!!! This place tells me they are OUT of water and are trying to get more for guest and that the bottles they do have are only for their memebers. Could you imagine if it was reversed and I said I only had water for men and not women?? This place has no problem discriminating. Shame on them. Absolutely disgusting!!! Please find another hotel that does not lie to their guest and allow discrimination to do happen. read more

Friendliest staff the housekeeper staff goes above and beyond. Definitely very professional staff all the way around. They were very nice to my dog and cleaned the room with him in it so I didn't have to lock him in a kennel while at work. read more

This new hotel is excellent! Welcome water bottles when you arrive. Our double queen room was tastefully done with unique light fixtures, extra hooks on the walls, comfortable beds, nice sheets with two firm and two soft pillows on each bed, fluffy towels, a Keurig coffee pot and JR Watkins bath products. Our room was thankfully very quiet and the darkening shades really work! There's a nice wardrobe and plenty of little spaces to set your things Your breakfast choices include an awesome pancake machine and fresh warm cinnamon rolls! read more

Cold showers, no water pressure. Terrible customer service. And the hotel charged my credit card TWICE (each time $189) for a room that was advertised online as $89. I did learn this lesson/ go elsewhere and always book through a travel site. This was the first time I ever walked inside without a reservation and boing through Priceline, Expedia, booking.com or hotels.com would have been far cheaper. The night manager should be fired- as he is horrible. Worst customer service and horribly rude- even though HE made the mistake of charging my card twice. Go elsewhere. Lots of better options at this highway exit. read more

Well when we come to come to Covington, GA we stay in the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. It is not far from my daughters campus and it is nice and cozy. The staff is personable and treat us well. The customer service is good and they follow up with any concerns right away. I like they have breakfast, there are all types of stores and simple restaurants to walk to in walking distant. Now you are not in Atlanta, but to be in a small town you are in great hands. If you have a car or can call Lyft/Uber GA there is so many beautiful sights here. read more

I have been to this hotel on 3 different occasions. I have been a Holiday Inn Express member for 10 years and have been to Holiday Inn Express all over the United States. I paid for 3 nights stay for me and another family member and off the bat the staff charged me for an extra night. Thank goodness I have beyond in my account so my account so no problem. Though I do have concerns with the fact that the staff seem a little unfriendly. In addition I can appreciate saving the environment, but if the sheets need to be changed or if the room need to be cleaned then just do it. Last but not least late check out means late check out, not the maid beating on the door while I am in the shower while I have 30 minutes left. You know this was lovers weekend and I am all about love, but when you spend money you want some civil treatment. read more

This hotel is beautiful! The rooms are modern & have beautiful lighting (especially in the bathroom). The ONLY DOWNFALL is that all rooms have sliding bathroom doors that do not provide enough privacy. There is no way to "seal" the door so that everyone in the hotel room can't hear your business. I do not recommend this hotel if you are traveling with people other than your family to save yourself from the embarrassment! read more

I loved this hotel! We stayed here because it was a pit stop for our road trip from St. Louis to Daytona Beach! We love Vampire Diaries and a lot of the filming was done in Covington by the town square. It was extremely easy to get to that area from the hotel and I wish we would have stayed here again on the way up. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable! My parents wanted to visit. Told them to book this place. They accidentally booked a Holiday Inn in Covington KENTUCKY, instead of Covington, GEORGIA. Oops. They also used findaroom.com or bookaroom.com or something like that. So of course, the hotel had to have my parents call the website they booked with directly. But they didn't leave them in the lurch-the front desk manager called the other hotel, the website they booked with, etc., and after quite some time, she had it worked out for them! This hotel and staff went far and away above the call of duty and really helped put my mom and dad when they were in a jam. Thanks, Holiday Inn Express, Covington! We stayed at this location twice recently in preparation for our upcoming move to Atlanta. The second time around we were house hunting in the Alpharetta area but still chose to stay here after the amazing experience the first time around - that should say a lot!! It was an absolutely wonderful experience! Friendly, quick check in. The hotel is very new and the room still had that fresh new smell! Immaculately clean- and trust me I inspect when I travel. Fun Bath & Body Works toiletries in the bathroom. Very modern fresh decor. Bed was very comfortable with soft, crisp new linens. We requested extra pillows which added to our comfort. Room was perfectly quiet at night and had a room darkening shade that kept about 99% of the light out, AWESOME. Free breakfast had nice options, we are not picky eaters. Checked in, found out my room is a king, needed a double. Informed front desk associates I needed two double beds. Their 1st response we can get you some blankets for the floor. Told them no that won't work. Then they directed me to Walmart across the street where I could buy an inflatable mattress. I asked for a roll away bed and their response we don't carry those. (A hotel does not carry a rollaway bed, first red flag). Surely there must be a couch in the room that pulls out as a bed, Nope. Then make it to the room and the motorized screen won't close. Most expensive hotel in Covington. My advice keep looking, not worth the cost. Oh one positive, the automatic pancake machine was super cool, does not make up for the above. read more

Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself and the rooms, from my experience, were clean and nice but nice rooms don't make me want to stay again if the customer service sucks. Especially having to always travel for work. It started off bad from the get-go. So anyone reading this review, fair warning- it's long. After waiting over an hour to even check-in due to a technicality booking through a third party, I had to fix my own check-in issue even though I didn't book this room personally. Like okay great, I understand you can't charge a card that you don't have the card number for but you have my employers name and contact information. Yet I was told sorry, we can't charge the card. No suggestions, no effort was made to fix it. So we just stood there saying nothing. Not hey no problem- since you're staying for a week go get some rest and we will get this settled for you. So even though the room was paid for plus the other two rooms for the other employers, the hold up was over $20?? You've got to be kidding me. So over an hour goes by, and I'm guessing it was the manager that came out- I didn't even hear "sorry about that." Just " you must be so and so." That's a great guess seeing how I was the only one sitting in the lobby for an hour. I should've known it was doomed from the start. Or maybe after the incident I just had a scarlet letter on me for the rest of my stay. Staff was super friendly, eager to check me in (before the issue occurred), but after that I swear I was a ghost. Over the course of a week I began to see a pattern. If you had a tie on, or a briefcase, you got an enthusiastic "hey how are you doing today?" "Good morning." " Good seeing you again!" You get the picture. Even getting breakfast, the lady replenishing/ cleaning the breakfast counters looks at me- then looks at the floor. I grab a bagel and she is literally standing beside me at this point...in walks a guy with his laptop and tie and she perks up INSTANTLY with a good morning sir! How are you today?" But it was this same scenario with different people every morning waiting for my bagel to toast. And I toast it on #5 so those five minutes feel like eternity. Same situation any time I walked in/out the lobby doors.....eye contact, floor, no smile, nothing. But if people were right behind me walking in with suitcases (looking to be checking in), or the guys in the polos and tie club literally a few steps behind me were greeted; and happily at that. There were also a few times I'd be walking out the lobby door, which is small for double opening doors to begin with. But anyways, I'm walking out as a staff member of the hotel is walking in. If I had not stepped aside we would've collided. No "excuse me," or anything. Pretty sure most of these staff members placed themselves on a higher platform or something. Possibly they are trained to give extra attention to guests that fit a certain profile? Who knows. So the whole reason I've taken the time out to write this is for this reason. I travel a lot for work, and I have a very labor intensive, dirty job. I do not expect the nicest this, or the nicest that. Clean bed, clean sheets, and friendly staff that's probably about it. Free breakfast is a bonus. Hotels are suppose to be like a tiny home away from home. And maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure hotels fall under, oh I don't know, customer service. Which, this is just a guess, but I would assume that is where you maybe service your customers? Hmmm. Crazy thought I know. But really, if I'm getting off work and grabbing breakfast in dusty clothes, messy hair, work boots, and maybe a rip in my jeans I expect to be treated the exact same as the suit and tie club members who just got out of the shower, laptop in hand, and having a morning meeting with the boys in the lobby before work. Do I look approachable coming through the lobby doors at 8am after working a 12 hour overnight shift covered in dust and dirt? Probably not. But when you're in customer service, it doesn't matter- it's just what you do. Probably the ONLY staff member who this doesn't apply to is the lady who works the overnight shift. She checked me out around 5am on Saturday morning when the guy dropped off the newspapers. She was so friendly asked me how I was and was so prompt and professional. She was very thorough and if i remember correctly she was actually fairly new. But she gets a pass from this review because she's got the at-home feel, customer service thing down. So possibly the rest of the staff could get on the same page? read more

First time in this holiday inn.. was nice and clean and new.. we could not get the AC to keep the room cool.. went off and on all night.. room was nice.. but can not say anything nice about breakfast they offer.. very rude girls working the kitchen.. out of almost everything and had to ask if they could bring more out.. they said nothing and walked away.. food came out and it was still frozen.. if ya can't take pride in your job maybe you should not be working here.. read more

I thought everything was great. Staff was friendly, polite, helpful. It is a brand new building, and the room design is very cool. The best part was the bed. My wife and I both thought it was the most comfortable hotel bed we had ever ever slept in. One small drawback, the elevator is really slow. read more
