This is how bad the TV looks!!!! What a dump!! No cover on remote battery too!

Took 15 minutes to find a front desk person. TV doesn't work unless you want to watch blue colored TV. Phone doesn't work to call front desk, so had to use cell phone. Was told an hour ago that they would be right there to fix it. An hour has elapsed. Nobody here. Called again, and nobody answered. This place sucks!!!!!! I will NEVER stay here again! Yes, I am a gold member!

If you have a choice between the Holiday inn Express and the Holiday inn, both on this road, choose the Holiday inn Express. The Holiday inn is old and run down. You'll walk a mile to your room. What you'll like... + Staff are very friendly. + Hotel room beds are very comfortable. + Daily housekeeping. + Free parking. + Effective air conditioning. + A few working USB plugs in the room. + Decent furniture in the room. + Cattleman's steakhouse next door. + 90 minutes from Lasson National Park. What you almost certainly won't like... + Poorly maintained building. None of the exterior doors work properly. Some have been broken for years. + Terrible location. Drug addicts roaming the streets. + Filthy hot tub. Filled with foam. + Some broken USB plugs in the room. + Tiniest refrigerator on Earth. + Ice cold swimming pool. This would be great on a blazing hot day if it were outdoors, but an indoor pool that's not heated is a waste of effort. + Car break-ins in the parking lot.

    Bad bathroom repair

I was quite disappointed with this hotel. The front desk was friendly enough (hence the two stars not one). The hallway on the second floor had a musty smell. My room had wallpaper peeling off the wall, the desk chair was broken and covered with dirt and dust, and the shower was filled with cracks that looked like they were repaired by a toddler. The best part was the fan in the bathroom that couldn't be turned off so I had to listen to that the whole time. The switch had , literally, been removed. Basically , I paid Holliday Inn prices with Motel 6 quality.

Thanksgiving visit. Plumette loving the dog stay friendly vibe.

A Thanksgiving holiday family visit. HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS & SUITES is centrally located in Redding -easily accessible off the freeway/convenient location. The rooms are clean and spacious, beds are comfy, and the air-conditioning is quiet and efficient. Rooms are equipped with a nice large smart television and they offer complimentary wireless internet access (although I could not connect on my computer my phone connected just fine). Extras include a small safe, good sized fridge and of course-a coffee/ Keurig tea maker. I can't forget the complimentary breakfast. Our favorite was the pet policy! If you are thinking of bringing your dog --this hotel is great choice. Pet fee is charged- up to $40.00 per day. Worth it to have your fur baby with you. Note: Service animals are exempt from fees/restrictions. The Maximum number of pets per room is 2 fur babies. Perk: Staff is friendly and welcoming. Note: Stay on the top level. Although not extremely noisy- the hallway and level noise is noted past 11:00pm.

TL:DR for the price that you pay to stay in a place with the Holiday Inn name, there are better options in Redding. Hotel isn't super clean and is understaffed. Breakfast is hectic- no pancakes, hot foods always run out quick, and it's clear they are understaffed (staff there is doing the best they can). Front desk does provide exceptional service but not enough to make up for other deficits. I've stayed at a number of Holiday Inns and IHG establishments including REGENT, Candlewood Suites, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Express. This review is being written at a time where a number of factors may be affecting quality including a busy holiday weekend (Thanksgiving), understaffing issues, the pandemic, and new changes to their protocol. The pros: I. The front desk deserves all the glory and if I could give them a rating no question 5/5 for service, problem solving, and multitasking. Krystal (I believe was her name) was exceptional at answering our questions, giving us clean towels, missing toiletries, refills for coffee/teas/coffee cups, problem solving, and juggling the issues experienced by other guests. She deserves a raise for her calm and professional demeanor. II. The hotel is pet friendly (for an additional fee) III. The fitness center and pool are quite nice Cons: I. Hectic hot breakfast. We were told that they just started serving hot breakfast which may be why there were so many issues. I stayed here for 3 nights and so far each breakfast morning has been crazy. It's not so much the crowd or lines (it's expected during the holiday weekend) but there is a severe lack of options and quantity of items for the guests. While breakfast is served from 6AM-9AM timing doesn't seem to matter too much as there was always a short supply of everything. The pancake machine was broken, the milk dispenser was broken, there was no juice, according to the staff the eggs were frozen for days (thus not served), they did not replenish the limited fresh fruit options (if you weren't there by 7-8 am you weren't getting any fresh fruit), there was no yogurt easily accessible, limited supplies of cereal, and the sausage that was cooked disappeared faster than a Black Friday doorbuster deal. Staff tried their best to accommodate the guests but it's clear they are being overwhelmed. We were eventually directed to a different room by the front desk where we were able to take some items like juice and yogurt. Thank you front desk! There should be signs or something posted so guest are aware. I checked on breakfast at 7 am and 8 am during my stay to see if things were being replenished but they simply couldn't keep up with the demand or number of guests. Not hot breakfast during my entire stay. II. Lack of housekeeping and cleanliness is less than desirable. Again it could have been due to the sheer volume of guests (thanksgiving weekend) but during our 3 night stay our rooms were never cleaned. We had to pick up new towels every night from the front desk (Krystal you are awesome), trash was never picked up, bed sheets were never changed, and while we had a keurig we never got new k-cups. (Again super grateful to have the front desk help us out with our toiletries and missing items). Note a number of the towels we were given were not used due to black/dark colored stains, the bed sheets and liners also had similar stains, and the shower itself had a lot of soap scum buildup (orange/pink). There was also a good number of dust found on the lighting fixtures on the headboard of the bed. A piece of dust actually fell onto my pillow... Again I don't think it's current staffing that's the primary issue, I think they're doing the best they can with the number of guests staying here. III. There was no mini fridge in our room and getting water/refilling water is a bit of a challenge. There are water fountains outside by the lobby but the fountain head ls themselves have green build up. We purchased water from a nearby store and brought it with us for the remainder of our trip. Overall, my biggest reason for the lower rated review is my personal desire to feel like the place I'm staying at is clean. While this certainly isn't the worst place regarding cleanliness, it clearly doesn't live up to my previous experiences in IHG hotels and resorts. The amazing staff at the front desk doesn't make up for these issues. I do not plan on staying here again in the future until some of these issues get resolved. Last shout out to the amazing front desk staff for making my stay the best that they could! They seriously went above and beyond.

I was traveling with a client of mine who has very occasional seizures, and early on in our first morning here he had one while alone in the shower. Luckily, this hotel is sandwiched between lots of different hotels and restaurants, but more importantly, between the fabulous Shasta Regional Medical Center the proximate Redding Fire House. First Responders were on site in about ten minutes (which felt like an hour) and transpo went smoothly despite there being no elevator and us being on the second floor (the staircase has a landing and everything). Now, this is all well and good, and relatively standard if I may be so bold, but I'm here to say that the staff at the Americana went way above and beyond the call of duty. Housekeeping was in the next room when he collapsed. When I saw the severity of the situation I-in a relative panic, ran over to nearby staff to ask for help. This incredible woman, Darby, was the perfect person to help (second only to an actual first responder, RN or doctor). After calming the situation down with nothing but grace, she explained a little bit of her own history with seizures and what it meant to her to be able to help us in any way. Darby supported my client and I both physically and emotionally while he came out of his seizure and fell into a deep sleep, thank God, and she even stayed with me for a few minutes after he had been loaded into the ambulance. She and her boss, the manager Heather, and another lovely woman from the Americana whose name I never caught, were so supportive, kind and patient with me while I tried my best to help the PMs gather the information they needed about my client. I'd imagine some people had to check in or out a bit late because of us, sorry! But I couldn't be bothered by other guests after how helpful the staff was. PS . He was cared for in the nearby SRMC, a great hospital about two blocks away. He is now home and in stable condition. TL,DR Staff came in clutch for IHSS worker when senior client had a seizure in the shower - Housekeeper & management absolutely rock The local hospital is excellent!!

It was not large and should have been for the price. But it was super clean and very comfortable. The pool was great and it was a hot day so we used it. They have a 24 hour business center which is fine and I needed it. The eatery is just fine, not great. But you will find something you want. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed.
