Okay FUN! We booked this last minute and were really impressed. Got upgraded to a suite, which was fun. The kitchen area was small and probably not enough to cook a meal, but was great for leftovers and microwave popcorn (provided!). The bed was comfy and they accommodated our request for more pillows. It's also dog friendly and our dogs loved it! All the staff we interacted with were great and there was lots of grass around the hotel for dog walks, even with stations that had garbage bins and dog bags. The toilet was the best part. They had like a $700 Japanese toilet attachment, it was awesome. Had heat, dry, seat warming, all kinds of stuff. I loved it and wish I had one at my house now. The furniture was a little old and dated, but no real issues. TV also only has basic channels with no option for anything else, so bring an HDMI if you want to connect to Netflix or streaming. read more

What a great hotel! My family of four booked a room here, but the other three got sick, so we decided I'd take a solo trip to Bellingham. The staff I encountered were super professional and friendly. The breakfast staff were on. The. Ball. My room was so immaculate, if you'd told me I was the first person to ever stay there, I'd believe you. I switched from a room with two beds to one with one, and while it didn't affect price, I was glad to have just one bed and the staff made it super easy to do. The toilet in the restroom was a bidet. I have literally never used one before, so this was an...interesting experience. Who knows? Maybe the toilet that sprays your butt will be the one that sprayed mine. We're like, friends now. Bidet buddies. Budets? They do provide a laminated instruction sheet so operation of the bidet is easy. But you know that now, don't you? Budet? My region sprayed. Your region sprayed. Anywho, parking is a wee tight later in the day and at night. There is an amazing brunch spot across the parking lot, and.a sports bar at the bottom of the lot. There is an ample vending area in the lobby, and breakfast had many options, including a pancake machine and freshly ground coffee. The coffee was delicious, better than I've ever had at a hotel other than the Ritz Carlton in Arlington and a sketchy motel I stayed in once in Wall. I didn't use the pool, but I walked around and it was immaculate and busy. No pics cos there were kids that weren't mine so that felt cringey. Overall great hotel, wonderful room, 10/10, have already recommended to a friend traveling to Bellingham, would stay again. read more

This is a well run property, with clean well-appointed rooms, and a nice little pool and jacuzzi near the lobby. Their breakfasts go the extra mile with some hot eggs and breakfast meats (if you parttake). I like their back parking lot, which allows you enter from the rear of the property which has a courtyard/garden feel. The rooms always seem to be professionally put together, and give me a sense of ease. Modern, with good plug points, a Wifi password that comes with room key. Feels safe inside. Updated decor. This is a decent option to stay in Bellingham. Nearby are walkable food options -- across the road in the large sprawling concrete parking lot that stretches amorphously in all directions. Also nearby the gas is cheap and you'll be able to access a "pharmacy". read more

Use of the Keurig: if you just want hot water for tea, follow the directions for pouring water into the top of the machine. Next, hold the entire front and top down so it will recognize that there water but no K-cup in the unit. After you push the button WHILE holding everything together, you will get your hot water for tea. A hassle yes...or you can take the elevator downstairs to use their coffee maker for hot water. The choice is yours. Pool for kids stays open till 10pm. From 10pm-12 midnight it's open for adults only. Excellent hotel. Hope to stay again. read more

I had a wonderful stay at the Bellingham holiday Inn express. The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. I was very appreciative that the pool was open until midnight, since I checked in after 8pm. The hot tub was a nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was above average. They offered a number of hot options. Egg white omelets, fresh pancakes(from a machine), sausage, biscuits and gravy. I had breakfast on the lovely patio. Stayed here during a sports event. The staff was very friendly, easy check in process. They are going through a big renovation in the lobby/first floor area but it didnt bother us. They had a mid day free snack with full size candy bars and cookies. The pool is rather small (2-5ft) BUT it was WARM!! We have a 13 & 5 year old and they both had lots of fun. They have towels in the pool area. Our room was on the second floor and it was nice!! Lots of space, hot showers, great water pressure. They had the little magnet thing on the back of the door so we could bring all our crud in. Bed was comfy. Free breakfast was included and it was good!! Holiday Inn Express Bellingham This hotel is clean, has hot showers and a comfortable bed. There's a descent breakfast, free parking and it's quiet. It's my preferred hotel when I'm in Bellingham. Cons: It looks tacky to put a "tips" jar in the free breakfast area. I never see that at other IGH Hotels. The only two power outlets near the bed were loose and would not hold a plugged cord in them. It's an easy fix, yet not fixed. At check in bottled water was not offered. As an elite loyal IHG member water has always been given at check in. When I asked about it later I was told I have to ask for the water at check in. That's never been the case at any of the other IHG Hotels. Water has been automatically given to me at check in at the numerous IHG Hotels I've stayed at. read more

A very pleasant stay, staff are all friendly, professional and willing to help when needed.Hot breakfast included in the stay which they offer (e.g. bacon, sausage patties, cheese omelets, veggie/egg white omelets, scrambled eggs, various breads, pancakes, juices, milk, coffee, etc...). Very clean and well kept and across from the mall. The sports bar "Extreme Sports Bar and Grill" is great! Good quality selection of beers, wines, and alcohol, also really amazing BBQ selection and choices. Our wait staff "Rachel, Scooter, and Sarah", worked really hard to give us a super experience. I ordered the half rack of pork ribs with shoe string fries, excellent choice. Though I forgot about the primerib special, next time! The wife ordered a Mediterranean pizza and she said it was great. Stayed here in between ski trips at Whistler and Steven's Pass in January and wanted to make sure I wrote a review because we were pleasantly surprised by the bidet in our room- what an unexpected treat to have a heated seat! Everything else was pretty standard, but we did enjoy walking down to the nearby bar for dinner. Would stay here again for sure. read more

This is absolutely probably one of the nicest Holiday Inn Express property I've stayed at in years kudos to the owner of this franchised hotel, the entire property was immaculate and the staff is very professional and extremely friendly. I always appreciate the upgrades being a Spire member and the welcoming point whether I'm using rewards points towards the room or not is like double dipping. The Jr King Suite was spacious and came with all the amenities you'd expect. We also took advantage of the laundry facilities at the hotel the appliances were very cleaned and well maintained and the front desk gave us complimentary detergent I think going forward I'll put a few tide pods and dryer sheets in a sandwich bag for convenience. The breakfast area is very nice and the food is presented in chaffing dishes which is very nice, it's the same food but the presentation gives you a better dining experience in my opinion. Overall I thought this hotel property ranks at the top of the Holiday Inn Express Brand and I wouldn't hesitate to return for a stay in the future... read more

I travel for work. I stay at IHG hotels pretty much exclusively. There's really not a lot of difference between Holiday Inn Express locations. So, I usually don't have much to say either positive or negative. But, I was really disappointed in my room. The WiFi was two bars strong. Plus, it disconnects every few minutes, laptop, iPhone, iPad...so it's not my device. The heater didn't work. There was not a single USB port to charge devices. Two of the three plugs were loose and didn't work. It's just shoddy in 2019 not to have sufficient ways of charging devices. And, the heater not working is unacceptable. If I wanted a Motel 6, I would have stayed in one. Clearly the property owner wants to drive business to the much, much nicer Holiday Inn near the airport. read more

The morning breakfast was tasty there was plenty of options to eat and the food was fresh and hot. we really enjoyed their warm indoor pool and jacuzzi, clean bathrooms and fresh towels. Stayed here over the weekend for my sons basketball tournament. The place was completely booked. That being said...This Holiday Inn IMO is better than the one by the airport. The price for one is way better. We were able to get 2 X Queen with kitchen for the same price as a regular room at the airport. The staff is super friendly and hooked me up with a bunch of extra points during check in. The pool and hot tub areas are pretty small so it gets crowded pretty quickly but the kids didn't mind. They offer a complimentary breakfast which looks pretty decent but the staff was having a hard time keeping food available. The location is very convenient as it's right up the street from a Winco so we made good use of our kitchen to save extra bucks. I'd definitely come back here for the next tournament. read more

first time staying here at this property and believe me...its one of the best holiday inn express sites ive been to. nice location and clean all throughout. rooms were spacious and the washrooms pristine. even the matting in the tub was scrubbed clean. no sign of dirt anywhere. i even checked the spot that housekeeping commonly misses, and thats the keurig machine. but NO! even that was clean. no used pods in the machine. linens smelled fresh and invitng, the pillows well fluffed and maintained. indoor pool was nice and warm. hot tub bubbly and inviting with ample towels nearby. outside the pool even had a huge bbq grill for guests, and outdoor patio furniture for drinks and get togethers. awesome property. lobby had warm freshly baked cookies at night and 24/7 tea and coffee service. bfast was plenty...today there was turkey and pork sausages, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, several kinds of oatmeal, fruits, make your own pancakes, varieties of bread, yougurt, milk, cereals, and juices. there was always a choice. only improvement i could think if was that the bfast area was cramped. there was a long communal table right beside the buffet spread , and it was so close that people getting food easily hit the chairs of the people at the table. sadly at bfast, there was hair in one of my pork sausages...promptly reported it to the front desk who told the GM, then went and told the kitchen staff to be careful. GM did nothing about it though. didnt even come out to talk to me. i had to call and asked to talk to the GM when i got back to my room and asked, as per the holiday inn promise, what will she do about my unpleasant experience ? long story short, i got $20 off my tab, which is i guess, there way of compensating me for the part of my experience which was unpleasant. im thinking the hair came from the supply chain. anyhow, i asked, and i received! at least they made good their hospitality promise. front desk staff were a pleasant bunch...very helpful and accommodating. answered all questions and gave away needed toiletries like candy. i will be back as i felt really well rested and relaxed. location is so close to everything .like bellisfair mall, restaurants, ross, etc...for the price too..canada day long weekend..at less than $100 usd...cant be beat! cheers! read more

If we hadn't been stuck in town for the weekend, I would have demanded a full refund and left in a hurry after the first couple of hours. - CARELESS: Booked a King bed room, got a Queen. - HUMID: No working fan in the bathroom. - STALE: Windows don't open enough to even let in some fresh air. Pairs excellently with the complete lack of ventilation anywhere else in the room! - CHEAP: Bargain-bin bidet somehow made their cheap toilets even more uncomfortable. - CHEAPER STILL: Sandpaper-quality TP. Particularly great when combined with the shitty bidet. - AND YET CHEAPER: Microwave literally took 8 minutes to heat room-temperature water to "warm." The refrigerator had clearly been dying for months or possibly years; we enjoyed a nauseating high-pitched oscillating humming noise 24/7 (probably a bad transformer or capacitor, I guess), and the freezer door had been broken so many times that its seat was just a pair of deep gouges in the inside of the unit, rendering the freezer section totally useless and the refrigerator section totally frozen. No matter, I suppose, because within the first hour of being in the room we had no choice but to unplug the fridge to avoid getting physically sick from the noise. - DIRTY: Bathroom fixtures, handles and typical touch-surfaces in the room clearly hadn't been cleaned at all before our arrival; all were filthy with greasy and fingerprints. We had to wipe the entire place down ourselves. - LOUD: By far the worst noise insulation of any place I've ever set foot in - and I've lived in apartments my entire life. FAR louder than a college dorm room. In the 3 nights I had to stay here, I accumulated the equivalent of maybe 1 night of really crappy sleep - including napping during the rare 15-minute quiet period during the day. In a fit of sleep-deprived insanity, we once spent about 2 hours just leaning the hotel's pillows against a wall and betting how long it would take for them to be knocked over by a neighbor's activities. (Pro tip: NEVER more than 20 minutes. Best money is on 7-8 or 11-12 depending on time of day/night. Make a drinking game out of it!). - LOUDER: For the entire duration of our stay, a washing machine somewhere below us would turn on about every hour, then proceed to shake the entire room and everything in it for the next 15 minutes or so. Don't know if it was the staff or a shared laundry area used by visitors, but whatever it was, it was awful. It shook the entire building. - LOUDER STILL: The occupants above us shook the entire room in proper earthquake fashion whenever they walked across the floor or even just shifted in their bed - which creaked like an ancient wooden boat, as did ours. It was so bad that our drinking cups spilled onto the nightstands or rattled completely off on several occasions. - AND YET STILL SOMEHOW EVEN LOUDER: The occupants in the adjacent rooms shook the shared wall and floor whenever they walked. Anybody walking in the hallway, whether they were close by or at the other end of the building, would cause the door to rattle and creak; at about 1 AM on the second night, the chain on the door actually slid out of its rails from the vibration. Normal conversation was clearly audible from several rooms away. - FAN OF SKIN RASHES? Hope you have good lotion. I don't know what they use to wash their laundry, but it appears to be some mixture of black pepper and bleach that they then don't fully rinse out. Neither of us have allergies or sensitive skin, but both of us broke out in hives and rashes after the first night. Thankfully, we brought our own towels and had a blanket in the car that we were able to bring in and use instead of their bedding for the rest of our stay. - GARBAGE COFFEE, AND NO DRIP: I won't say the brand because it's a bad word, but it starts with a "K" and, if you've ever enjoyed a half-decent cup of coffee in your life, it inevitably ends with dissatisfaction; in any case, that's all they have here for "coffee." There's no drip-pot in the rooms, just a K-bad instant-garbo machine - unlike LITERALLY EVERY other hotel I've ever stayed in or even heard of. I don't get it. Coffee is normally the most basic expectation of any hotel stay, but they can't even get that right. Inconceivable. - GARBAGE BREAKFAST: Because of covid, you had to order your breakfast the night before and turn in your "menu" at the front desk that night. No big deal... in theory. Unfortunately, everything on this "menu" was completely generic. You want yogurt? Great! Enjoy whatever random leftover-flavor and brand combo they throw at you. Neither of us are picky eaters AT ALL, but breakfast was totally useless; we threw out more than 3/4 of what we received because it was nearly all either some impossible combo of bad brand + weird flavors, or otherwise just plain inedible. In short, staying here made me wish that I was once more 20 years old and still living in the worst apartments in the region - because they were a dream compared to here. read more

This is a good looking hotel on the surface, but once you get checked in and start to see the details it has some faults. The first problem is trying to find it. Located down the street from a mall and other high traffic areas is good for location, but it is hidden next to an office building back off the main street. If you miss the turn, it takes a bit to turn around and come back. The location is great for restaurants and shopping though. Check-in is smooth and straight forward, and the hotel looks very nice and modern. My room was nicely appointed and very clean. Furniture was a dark chocolate color and in great condition. The desk chair comfortable and plenty of light at the desk to do some work under. Another plus was the fact every lamp had at least one, sometimes two outlets. I was never left trying to find an outlet to plug in items and one was always close by. Breakfast was the standard continental breakfast with a great selection of instant oatmeals, cereals, sausage and bacon, biscuits and gravy, breads and muffins and...well you get the idea. Several coffee and juice selections are there all day and evening as well. Food was good and the lady in charge never let anything run low. There are a few details that keep me from giving this Holiday Inn Express four stars. To start, the safety chain on the door was broken and inoperable. Not a big problem since I was two doors down from the front desk, but something that should have been fixed. The light in the bathroom was insufficient for a lady to apply makeup. It was fluorescent and surrounded the mirror giving a diffused glow instead of bright light to see what you are doing. The next morning when I was ready to leave, the hotel staff had not placed my receipt under the door, which is a nice gesture. Not having this provided forced me to stand in line at the desk to checkout and request my receipt. But, the biggest gripe is the placement of the towel bar in the bathroom. Trivial? Not really. Every time I used the sink, the towel bar hit me in the knees forcing me to stand back away from the sink. What an inconvenience. This is a great location hotel with nice finishes, but the details need more attention. Paying what I did for the room, I expect these details to be addressed. read more

Great hotel and great service. Great hot breakfast with lots of choices and the staff kept everything fresh and hot. While the bed was not the most comfortable, they did have lots of soft pillows so I had no problems getting a good night sleep. The one negative was the fact that the desk in the room was very small so it made it a bit difficult to work in the room and spread out as needed. If you fly into the local airport, call the hotel and they will pay for your cab fare. I though that was pretty cool. read more

The last time I stayed at the Bellingham HI Express was 2008. Since then they remodeled the lobby in soft blue, green and beige tones. Very pleasing. Our stay was perfect. The breakfast adequate and evening cookies a nice touch. The beds were not hard which helped us get a good night's sleep. It was freezing outside so we did not use the AC. The front desk staff were extremely nice especially Jake. The only complaint one might make is the rooms are too small for a longer stay. The best thing about this hotel is they offer a free pass to a full sized gym around the corner instead of a small room with a few weights and a treadmill like similar hotels. read more

WOW! Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great service, staff, accommodations, bedrooms, channel selection and BREAKFAST! We sound like we work here (we don't) but both my wife had I HAD the pleasure of staying here on August 19th and it is the 1st hotel that we truly believe has set the new standard because this place felt like home in so many ways. I know everyone else felt the same way without even talking to them because I could see the 10 to 20 faces that were eating breakfast. People were actually talking to each other and they were strangers. The atmosphere felt homie. The food selection was exceptional and the food was of quality that tasted very good. Definitely the only hotel I will start staying at if they are like this hotel From the bed to the room to how nice the employee's were from the time we checked in, to the time we checked out. Check out was at 12 noon which is 1 hour more than 90% of the other hotels in the United States. People were actually hanging out in the outdoor lounge area and people were talking and laughing which is not normal. The atmosphere was just really settling. So many different drinks available from hot water for hot chocolate that was so good I had 3 cups to 2 types of milks, apple or orange juice and many more. Fruit to biscuits & gravy that tasted great. Cinnabuns ... YUM! No smelly rooms and everything was so clean. The showers had soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Enough... you see we liked it. Get the room & you then will see for yourself. I can be tough if a place is bad but if they are good I am going to let people know so they can enjoy a night in a hotel that makes your trip enjoyable no matter if it's business or leisure. Really nice place! Very modern, clean, and efficient. Work put me up here for a multi day travel assignment so I didn't have much hope. I was very much impressed! The room was very good sized with high ceilings, a king size bed, large TV, large desk, each lamp had two power outlets, and a really cool mirror light in the bathroom. Also comes with a microwave and fridge. The breakfast was very good and full of good fare from biscuits and gravy, omelettes, waffles to more simple stuff such as yogurt and cereal. My family stayed here one night. Staff was pleasant. Room was clean, bedding was clean. The bathroom was TINY. You pretty much have to stand on the toilet to get enough room to shut the door. We had a suite so our bed was a different room from the sitting room. The bedroom was tiny!! Had about 1 foot on one of the sides of the bed to the wall. Over all the room felt pretty squishy!
