This hotel is in a convenient location but far enough from the interstate that it doesn't get the traffic noise. My room was comfortable and the shower was clean. Our stay was good. We had a late check in with no problem. Skyler was friendly and accommodating and answering all my concerns. Rooms were clean. Towels were a bit scratchy (time to replace them) bed were comfortable. AC a bit loud when running. Breakfast was delightful and lauranda (I'm sorry I don't know how to spell her name) had something to do with it. she was attentive at the breakfast area. She works only the weekends- she said. She kept all the food fresh specially the eggs and meats. The cinnamon rolls were warm. Lauraronda even gave us a keychain and thank you note! She wrote inspirational words on the bread zip lock bag. Great overnight stop. Clean and newer rooms. With our 2 dogs who hear everything, it was a bit noisy. We were on the first floor.

Overall, if the room is clean, this is a decent place to stay while traveling. During my stay the sheets were dirty. They had black marks like someone walked with shoes on the bed. Also, the corners of the shower looked like there was mold. The outside of the shower was black/dirty also. Overall, I'd say the room was pretty dirty. Also, the soap/lotion dispensers near the bathroom sink were out. The maid must had forgot to fill them. Other than that, everything else was ok. The food was good, the employees at the front desk were nice. I would consider staying here again. However, the rooms will need to be clean before I make the commitment. read more

We're always looking for a nice hotel on this stretch for a stopover during annual trips to Hilton Head Island. Our normal Marriott brand was full so we booked here. It was great! New an modern. Avoid this Terrible excuse for a hotel. December 2024. We arrived at 9pm. Outside temp was in the 20s. Our room was terribly cold and the AC was on. Even the furniture was freezing cold. Went down to the desk to ask for another room. Attendant was indifferent but gave me another room key to try. It was cold too, no heat on, but after 12 hours on the road I didnt want to spend the night running up and down so we decided to settle. Went down to return the first key and told the attendant that this room was cold as well and all I got was a weak " oh sorry about that". Turned the heat on and it made a terrible rattling racket the entire night and never did get warm. I wish I could post the videos I took to show how loud it was. The bed was so cold we got in with our clothes on and by morning we had only slept about two hours. I have complained to IHG and hotel management and all I have been offered is condescension, lies, and a lousy 30% refund. read more

Booked this room for a soccer tournament my granddaughter played in because it had a 4.5 and pet friendly. Let me tell you, that's a lie! First of all, the room was on the bottom floor and was designed for someone who's handicap. There's no way a person with a disability could've stayed comfortably in that room. The door to the bathroom was a sliding barn door that was so difficult to open and kept coming off track, that it took my husband to open the door! I'm pretty strong myself but could only open it so far without his help. The bathroom itself was a disaster! It wasn't clean and the toilet "rocked" when you sat down on it. Again, imagine a handicapped person having to go to the bathroom, unable to open and close the door and then sitting on a toilet that was unstable! It's terrible! And then the kicker to this was while doing my nightly things of washing my face, brushing my teeth, etc., i looked down and a huge red cockroach ran across the bathroom floor! I screamed, stomped it dead and called the front desk! The only thing they said, and this is after I gave my laundry list of problems, was, "the manager will be in tomorrow morning, I'm so sorry" Are you serious?!?! Talked to the manager Saturday morning, she said they'll do something for us as far as the cost of the room and to look for that in an email. Fast forward to today, Monday, December 4th, received a call from the manager and she said corporate was very sorry and they were giving us $28 back for our trouble. ‍ I am so angry and mind you, the room was approximately $200 for a one night stay. Here's the lesson...if you want a nice place to stay, pay the extra money and STAY AWAY from the HIE! This place was a total crap hole and I'll know next time before I ever book with them, anywhere! Chose this hotel for an overnight stop during a road trip and couldn't have been happier. Outstanding staff - super friendly and very courteous! Honored our AAA discount so the room we had was around $120 which included a delicious hot breakfast. The entire hotel was spotless, modern, new, and is (should be) smoke-free (but we suspected someone had smoked on our floor...it stunk like cigarette smoke.) High quality amenities (shampoo/conditioner/body wash are all in the shower) and the beds were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Very convenient location near the highway and lots of restaurants/shops. Our room was a bit noisy with the highway next to us, but that's the risk for convenient highway access. read more

This was the best hotel experience that I've had in a long time!!! Everything was great! It's newly remodeled so it's got a fresh feel to it. Very nice rooms and clean bathrooms and shower. The staff was friendly too. The breakfast was awesome too. They served the ordinary continental breakfast plus some other cool items. Like Cinnabon sweet rolls, and instead of a waffle maker, they had a pancake maker. (I've never seen one of those before.) We definitely are coming back on our next trip through Georgia. We were just looking to get a night of rest before making another 6 hours on the road. This hotel offers clean beds and a nice hot shower, as well as a whole breakfast in the lobby area. The eggs and sausage did not look right, so we steered toward bagels and waffles. The coffee was good as well, with a variety of condiments. Hotel is within walking distance of a McDonalds, and not much farther from several other restaurants. The manager of the hotel gave us a reduced rate here because we had trouble at the Baymont Inn next door, which he was also the owner of. Cons: Outdated decor. The carpet could really use a good steam cleaning or total replacement in some areas. The shower head in our room looked grimy... calcium buildup. Lastly, the hotel was undergoing a change in ownership, some of the staff seemed a little grumpy, and the TVs weren't set up on the new system yet. read more

Ok - for awhile I've been complaining about Marriott properties - so when my colleague picked the Holiday Inn - I thought it was a good choice. It was a good choice - it is showing me that I really do prefer Marriott properties and look forward to my next visit to one. There really isn't anything drastically wrong with this place - though waiting to check in because the one front desk person is manning the phones is always going to tick me off! Then - not having status and getting my typical free upgrades makes me feel low - again not their issue! My room was spacious enough, clean enough, they've opted in for having coffee, tea, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, cable with HBO, a quality mattress and shower cap - yea! Big flat screen TV, nice desk with comfy chair - poor view, crappy air conditioner and a big fridge - so you take the good with the bad and this place gets a solid three stars - I'd come back here because it's close to the site I have to work at! read more

Rooms are very clean TV works great and we actually have a shower rather than a tub which to me is really great all the amenities are there if you don't have it they have it at the front desk. Great breakfast in the morning good coffee. If you picked up a coupon in one of the many book handouts at the Georgia creating station. The only positive thing about this hotel is the walking distance to food options. The hotel is small and very dated. A new Holiday Inn is being built directly behind it approx 25 feet between room window and 30 construction workers. Construction is loud and creepy. There are many other options close by. read more

I stay in the Calhoun area once or twice a year to visit the mountains, and I've always stayed at the Holiday Inn Express there. It's a fine hotel, always clean and comfortable. My only issue came one morning at 6am, when--after spending 12 hours on the road to get there--I was jolted awake by both telephones in the room; the ringers were set to full, and it was extremely loud, especially for somebody getting desperately-needed sleep. By the time I came to my senses and tried to reach for the phone, the ringing stopped. Now rudely awakened, I decided to go to the bathroom. The phones started ringing again, and by the time I ran out of the bathroom and got to the phone, the ringing stopped. I could see that the call was coming from the front desk, but I decided if it was important enough, they'd come to my door, so I unplugged both phones and went back to sleep. Perhaps they were giving a wake-up call and dialed the wrong room, or maybe the front desk clerks just wanted to wake me up at 6am to tell me that the breakfast bar was open; I don't know. But I do recommend that if you stay at the Calhoun HIE, unplug the phone nearest your bed and turn the other phone's ringer to the lowest setting, just in case. Other than that, I've always enjoyed by numerous stays at this particular hotel. read more

Stayed here on a drive from Michigan to Florida. Called ahead to check for availability and found the front desk staff very friendly. They offered me the AAA discount rate even though I'm not a member. Saved us $60 right off the bat. Quick check in at arrival. Rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. It's the kind of hotel where you can walk around in your room in bare feet and feel comfortable. That's my gauge for hotel cleanliness! We checked in on Friday 7/19 for a wedding. When we left for the wedding yesterday, 7/20, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping done while we were gone. We said yes and asked one of the housekeepers if they could vacuum up some formula that had spilt on the carpet since we obviously couldn't ourselves. They said that was no problem at all. We came back to the room around Midnight from the wedding to find they did not clean at all. They hung up our dirty towels (we could see a makeup smear one the one in front), didn't make the beds or even pick up the blankets, didn't change the sheets, didn't take out the trash, etc. We had to call at midnight to let them know nothing was done. When we came to check out this morning the GM, Darla Langston, said she was coming to look at the room due to the complaint and their housekeeper said "it couldn't be cleaned". We were forced to wait in the lobby before checking out so she could see the room. She came back a few minutes later and told the front desk to check us out. He asked if we needed a receipt. My sister looked at him and she then repeated it to my sister talking to her like she's in kindergarten (talking slow to her) asking again if she needed a receipt. My sister asked again if under the circumstances they would do anything to our receipt. She then began to raise her voice at us and said that we "should be glad we don't get charged to clean the room". She made it seem like a party had been thrown in there. We proceed to explain the only "dirty" thing was formula on the floor that we asked if they could vacuum. Then I stepped in and said they gave us dirty towels and just hung up our used ones and she started yelling at us causing a scene saying that they gave us clean towels. My sister explained that her mother is the head of the wedding that got them so many guests staying there. The GM proceeded to put her hand up at us to tell us to stop talking and said she does not care and walked away. Overall it was a terrible experience and I will never stay there again. The GM, Darla Langston, made us feel so humiliated and aggravated that we never want to stay at not only this Holiday Inn, but any again. read more

They brought a toothbrush down to our room when we realized we forgot one and gave us some bottled water. Spacious and clean room with more cable channels then normal. Comfortable bed and pillows. Hotel looks nice on the outside. Inside just as nice. Rooms were very moldy and the smell of mold just emanates when you walk through the door to the room. The fitness center is horribly small, good luck if you want to get on the treadmill, the bike was basically on top of it. The pool was clear at the bottom but the top had film and it was gross. The pics of this place do not do it justice. It is much nicer in person. This was probably the cleanest motel I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms are very large and well lit and the beds are without a doubt the best I have ever slept in and I'm 55 years old and travel a ton. The hotel breakfast was a complete hot breakfast not a grab and go like many places. The staff were extremely friendly, personable and went out of their way to get me a room with a bathtub as I have a spinal disease and psoriatic arthritis and had been driving for 16 hours straight. I was very impressed with this place. It's tucked in behind another hotel but definitely call them if ya can't find it and they will talk you in. Didn't use the pool and gave them the suggestion to put a sticker on their luggage carts that if they not returned and kept in the room over night that they would be charged extra because as a disabled woman it wasn't fun carrying all my luggage in. Very accommodating. We were heading down to Florida and picked Calhoun as a random place to stop. Tried the Holiday Inn Express to start because we've always had good experiences with the chain locally around the Midwest. We were a party of 8 (2 adults and 6 kids). We got the last room available, luckily with two double beds and a fold out couch. They were willing to let all eight of us stay in the room and helped out by providing us extra blankets, pillows, towels, etc. A great experience and would recommend that hotel to anyone traveling through that area of Georgia for a night or staying for a few days. read more

Stayed here on our way home from Fl. I would not recommend it. The room smelled moldy so I ask to be switched and they upgraded me to a suite that smelled worse so I ask to go back to the other room. Left out this morning and realized we had left a bag and went back in to get it and it was gone. The room had not been cleaned but after much questioning and being persistent at the front desk, it turns out housekeeping had the bag. I love Holiday Inn Express but this was horrible. read more

Stayed here with my boyfriend after a long day in Atlanta. The front desk attendant was pleasantly friendly and helpful. The room was spotless, and the bathroom was cleaner than I had anticipated. We stayed here Sept 28, 2017, and it was a big mistake. Our room, 122, smelled very musty, the culprit could have been mold as I found black mold on the ceiling over the shower. The shower and tub did not drain, so my feet got a good soaking while I showered. The tv is somehow permanently glued down and will not swivel, so watching from the chair isn't comfortable. At 11:00 a couple of small kids were loose running up and down the hall. I called the desk. No answer although I see the ad states open 24/7. The refrigerator was so noisy and rattled so loudly my husband unplugged it. I knew better, but still decided to try the Keurig coffee pot. Ugh. I ran a cup of water through without coffee to check out the pot's cleanliness and out came what I suspected would, gray water. Abandoned idea of a hot beverage, packed up and ran. When I notified the desk about these issues, they acted shocked. Really? That mold didn't show up yesterday. Goodbye HI Express, never again. #justkeepondriving read more
