As a guest in many 3-5 Star 5 Diamond award winning resorts this is the best hotel ever! I wasn't an official guest: but I've just came back from Barbados about a week ago. And never really got to enjoy my post international (You know what) As we were heading to Indianapolis I told my husband that he needed to finally pull over I was scared because I like to my business in public areas and there was no way I was going to a gas station or restaurant fast food place but we found this wonderful holiday in express and sure enough it was perfect it was totally clean and stocked with wonderful things everyone was so nice and there was a private bathroom right around the corner with tissues and flowers and I got to have an intellectual conversation with my thoughts and persevere through my problems with ease. I think the wonderful guy at the front counter who was kind of a burly rugged lumberjack type and I took some pictures just to boot I don't know anything about the rooms but I can say that they have snacks and a pool and it was clean as can be I'm nice and refreshed and that's why this place gets a five star review!

When I walked into the lobby during Covid, the lobby smelled heavily of antiseptic and clean. The lobby was immaculately clean. Check-in was fast and efficient. My room was clean and well presented. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows. The bathroom was super clean and well stocked. The TV and WiFi worked well! I highly recommend you stay here.

If you want to disappoint your spouse...or yourself...stay here! Let me tell you about just some of the ways Holiday Inn Express helped me do just that. 1. My wife was very thirsty towards the tail end of our trip. She asked if we couldn't stop and get some water. However, we were just a couple mins away from the hotel. So I said, "let's just wait to we get to the hotel. They will have a little side store there where we can pick some up." She said, "ok. That's a good idea." The idea itself was in fact good, but it turned out to be a bad one. When we checked in, we popped in the the store to get some water...but basically their fridge was just there for display purposes only...only had a couple beverages. "We shoulda stopped and got some water." See pictures. (Thanks Holiday Inn) 2. I said, "don't worry, they will have some drinking fountains. We can fill up the ice bucket and get some water that way." Noooope. Drinking fountains out of order. Ice machine out of order. See pictures. (Thanks Holiday Inn) 3. Then we thought we could enjoy a dip in the pool. Nope. Out of order. (Thanks Holiday Inn) 4. To top it off...the free hot breakfast in the morning...you guessed it. Came down to the lobby only to discover...that too wasn't happening. See pictures. (Thanks Holiday Inn)

Our wedding at Clayshire Castle was beautiful, but the experience with Douglas left us very…read moreuncomfortable. We rented the castle for our wedding weekend, including overnight accommodations for our family, and while we appreciated the unique setting, he repeatedly crossed boundaries during our stay. Throughout our wedding night, Douglas frequently entered or attempted to enter our rented spaces uninvited, including coming down to our side of the castle and asking us to turn off lights to save electricity. While I can understand wanting to conserve energy, several guests returned to their rooms after leaving lights on and found them off, which was unsettling and felt like someone had been in the room. We paid a significant amount for the venue, and it's hard to imagine that the cost of electricity would come close to what we paid for the event. The situation made us and our guests feel like our privacy wasn't being fully respected during what should have been a private and personal celebration. During the rehearsal and throughout the weekend, Douglas made several comments that felt unnecessary and intrusive. During the rehearsal, he told my husband and I to "act like you like each other" because he felt we weren't standing close enough at the altar, though there were much more appropriate ways to make that suggestion. He also repeatedly remarked on my hair being down, referencing medieval customs. The frequency of these comments over the rehearsal, wedding night, and breakfast the next morning made the interactions uncomfortable. Our parents and other guests also noticed how he spoke differently to the younger adults in our group, often in a condescending tone. During the reception, Douglas and Josephine helped clear plates as guests finished eating, which we appreciated. However, a few guests witnessed Douglas taking a plate of food and a cookie from our catering as he returned to his side of the castle. We weren't upset about it, but it did feel odd since it hadn't been discussed beforehand. The venue itself is stunning, but couples considering booking should be aware that the owners remain very present and involved throughout the event. Sometimes in ways that make it difficult to fully relax and enjoy your celebration.

The park has a very nice and soothing waterfall near the entrance. The park also has a small area with some picnic tables and there is a lot of shaded areas here. I was surprised to see a bathroom facility here, but it is under renovation at the time of this review. The park is a large garden composed of many smaller gardens such as the Memorial Veterans Garden, and the Enabling Garden. The center piece of the park is a triple gazebo that is very picturesque and can be rented. Even though it is not park of the park, I found another picturesque spot right off of it, a historic iron truss bridge. It spans the White Lick Creek and runs into the White Lick Creek Trail. The park is home to a veterans memorial and a statue that depicts a man holding a child, with two older children playing with a dog at his feet. The sculpture titled "a Celebration of Family values", is meant to signify The Dura builders family dedication to the town of Plainfield. You will also find many dedications and memorials in this park by some of the trees and in areas like the small fountain near the exit and the sundial sculpture across from the gazebos. The park has nice paths that run through it and are connected to a larger network of trails such as the aforementioned White Lick Creek Trail. This is a nice refection park that has a calming peace about it and is very soothing, even though it is located right off of a main thoroughfare. It does not have a shortage of benches. It feeds into some nice trails and offers some nice backdrops for pictures.

High heels and the gravel road don't mix well. Be warned--an outdoor July wedding at 4:30 in the afternoon is blazing hot. We opted for standing in the shade on a raised deck with a great view of the entire ceremony. This couple provided guests with fans that had the wedding program on one side and their picture on the other. Amidst a pandemic, I'm questioning the choice of fans. Indoors was air conditioned with seating and a bar on the main floor and upstairs. The second floor is a loft with a single row of tables and chairs looking down on main floor. Bartenders were friendly, some of the staff wore masks, some of the time. The air wasn't cooling the building and after a heavy thunderstorm, outside was cooler, so the doors were opened and a huge fan used to get some cross ventilation going. It was actually nicer outside among the tall trees. There's covered outdoor seating and a paved area where many guests hung out. With a DJ playing it was easier to visit and talk outdoors, perhaps safer too. When we returned to our vehicle at the end of the night, we discovered most people parked by us were stuck in mud and the owner was pulling us out with his truck. A little muddy, but no damage done to my SUV and an exciting finish to a fabulous event. AC not working well, overflow parking in what became a muddy mess were the only negatives. I imagine the deluge was atypical, but AC needs attention, not out of their control.
