This was a great hotel. Very conveniently located off one of the main roads (that goes right by the waterfront) and right off of I-90 (like one minute to get from this hotel and be driving on I-90). Ample parking. Gorgeous entrance with a fountain and bowls of fire that light up at night (that was a thrill, especially when walking the dog at 2 am). Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Rooms were clean and nice. Ours was humungous. If anything at all, I would have liked to see the decor a bit more flushed out in the room exactly because it was so spacious and felt a bit empty due to minimal decor - maybe a nice rug! This was the best IHG Holiday Inn Express we have stayed in! Everyone one was so friendly and kind. The free hamburger/ hotdog event was a welcome surprise. Good hotel, no complaints about the hotel itself other than the pet policy lie. We came after being evacuated from a wildfire, found a "pet friendly hotel", and arrived... they let in our dog but not our cat. We had to leave her in the car and my mom had to spend the night with her. The policy is a lie! They are dog friendly, not pet friendly. If you have a cat, do not be deceived by their claims. read more

Arriving late generally eliminates the line to check in. Such was the case this evening. So, I was registered and assigned a room rather rapidly. Fun little room on the end of the hotel. There is a balcony with a couple chairs. Not much of a view. Next building is being renovated, it appears. Siding is being replaced. Room is cozy, clean and decorated with a minimalist flair. But at least there are two examples of art on the walls. I won't be here long. Breakfast at 6:30am and out the door. Hopefully done in one day and back home tomorrow. read more

Very pleasant overnight with my dog at this hotel. The double queen room was very clean and roomy, even had a balcony. Breakfast was great with a wide selection and tasty offerings. There is a little park area behind the hotel that is for dogs. Very convenient for poop walks. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only issue is that it is right next to freeway, so ask for a room on the back side. read more

Passing through Couer d Alene we stayed at Holiday Inn. We arrived at 2:50 pm and the front desk told me I had to wait until 3 pm to check in because they are short staffed. I went back out to my car for ten minutes and walked back in at 3 to check in. I asked if my AARP card had any discounts for this hotel and she said not today. She said my rate was so good I shouldn't mess with that and lose it. I don't consider $250 to be a good rate. Going into our room we noticed a bad smell and the bathroom wasn't as clean as I expected. All the lights had harsh LED bulbs and it just felt cold and unwelcoming. I turned out the lights and tried to sleep at 9pm and across the hall a small dog started high pitched yapping. Kids ran up and down the hallway and were yelling. I won't stay here again. read more

I have to be careful because of my name First off, I was going to give this hotel a 5 star rating because it is clean and comfy and in a pretty setting. I usually get grossed out pretty easily but nothing here made me anxious! That is until i got to the lobby to depart! I tried all 3 large coffee urns and all were bone dry! At 8 am!! I asked the staff and a hotel clerk said it would take a few minutes to brew more. I don't think I've ever been to a hotel where I couldn't get coffee, especially at 8 in the morning. Maybe it was just an off morning But hopefully this review will help them to train staff to not forget a very important part of the breakfast experience read more

This was the best IHG Express I've stayed at in a long time. Maybe ever. The whole hotel has been updated since the majority of the pictures here on Yelp. It was a snowy evening but not to fear, they had a happy hour with pulled pork sliders, snacks, and free beer and wine. It was so great to not have to worry about going anywhere. Plus they brought out fresh baked cookies at 7pm. All of the staff were warm and friendly. I was thoroughly impressed and wish I had to travel this way for work more often! read more

Have always thought of Holiday Inn as being kind of "meh". And being so close to the freeway, thought this would be a problem. I was wrong. We were greeted at the entrance with freshly popped popcorn, warm cookies, and cucumber infused water. With the new renovations, the hotel even had that new carpet smell to it. The room itself, spacious and had access to a balcony on the 2nd floor overlooking the fall foliage. (Despite a comfy and rather welcoming bed, it was still a little difficult getting to sleep). There is a beautifully lit outdoor seating area and easy access to shops and restaurants nearby. The breakfast (which contrast to the listing actually started at 7) consisted of mini egg white veggie omelets, sausage, cinnabon, yogurt, pumpkin spice coffee, and pancakes. Very impressed and left happy and full. (Update: forgot to mention that there were a few washcloths with makeup stains on them, but no problem with ppl plenty of towels available) read more

Needed a place to stay for the night that was pet friendly on our way to Montana and we found this hotel to be the right fit. It was clean, beds were comfortable, staff were friendly and accommodating and lots of parking. The best part was having a walkout to the parking lot and grassy area for our two little dogs to take care of their business. Conveniently located off the freeway, but far enough not to hear the noise. Short drive to gas station and restaurants. Hot breakfast was included with the rate which was nice. Stayed here for one night, great place. Pet friendly, they share a green pet area with a neighbor hotel. Very accommodating, great staff. They offer a manager's complimentary meal in the evening accompanied by beer or wine. Breakfast is average for hotel breakfast fare. Room was nice, comfortable and clean. Bathroom amenities were good. They have laundry facilities on the second floor. There are grocery stores within a short driving distance if needed. I would definitely stay here again if traveling through. read more

I stayed there 2 days and I have no qualms with the level of service or my room but I feel the need to rant a bit about the pool. On all outside appearances it looks clean, crystal clear water, has plenty of towels, great pool right? This pool has a dangerous level of chemicals in it. It straight up DYED my black boxers a rusty brown red color. While hang drying my swim suits the water dripping off was tinted yellow. I genuinely fear for the life of any small child who happens to accidentally ingest water. The hot tub was just as overwhelming as the main pool. With the jets on, it was akin to being tear gassed; eyes watering, trouble breathing, itchy throat. I will preface the aftermath with the fact that I don't have sensitive skin by any means but this pool and hot tub had my skin itching like it was on fire till I had a shower, my skin was dry for days afterward so much so that I was rubbing my entire body in lotion. It has been 2 days and 3 showers since my stay and I STILL smell chlorine on my skin and in my hair. All in all, if you are okay with not swimming at this location it is a great hotel to stay at. If you intend on swimming this one isn't for you. Whoever is in charge of the chemicals for the pool needs to be replaced desperately. This is a health hazard. read more

I am so pleased to have made reservations at this motel. After stays at motels that were comparably priced (or higher), I felt I received a good value for the dollars spent. Courteous and helpful staff (Michelle?), clean room with comfortable beds, complimentary beer and wine with Italian salad and garlic bread in the late afternoon/early evening, fresh baked cookies, and very good breakfast options. All these amenities added up to an exceptional stay. We travel with two well-behaved, small, well-groomed canine companions and typically, if establishments do accept pets, we are placed in "dog rooms", which are usually sub-standard. Our room lacked nothing in cleanliness and comfort. I wish all lodging operators were the exemplary hosts that this place exhibited. read more

Terrible nights stay. It was our anniversary and we had to change rooms because the ac unit wouldnt heat. The heater in the new room didnt work either! The maintenance man promptly came up and had to fix it. Apparently, Holiday inn refurbed an older hotel and left the cheap, crappy ac units in. This is the second Holiday Inn we've stayed in that they refurb'd an old building and we suffered for it. Never staying at Holiday Inn again. Can do better for same price elsewhere. read more

I booked a room for two nights (one free using rewards points) for my mom's and my girls' trip. The room was nice, beds were comfortable, and it was clean. The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast was good (much better than most). It was a bit pricey per night, but I'm sure that's due to the area and the fact they had a big wooden boat show the same weekend. All in all, I'm happy with our choice and would stay again. This is a beautiful property that has a nice walking trail that leads to the Spokane River and to very nice shopping center. This is the most pet friendly hotel I have ever stayed at, they have a dog named Dodger that mans the front desk, my kids love to go pet Dodger every time we pass by the front desk. There's a very large grass area behind hotel to walk the dogs/kids. Nice pool and some nice sitting areas in back for lounging. Tuesday to Thursday there is a manager reception. I stayed here in July. I made my reservation back in April. I made my reservation, directly with the hotel, and the confirmation I received was for a King, with the request of facing the rear of the property (away from the busy front road). This was all confirmed. And, after detailed discussion, again with the hotel's front desk, they offered to provide a guest basket of amenities and wine in my room (for the special occassion). Needless to say, when I checked in at 3pm, they had switched my room type to a Queen, and of course no consideration of the room position, and certainly not any special welcome basket!!! After much discussion, and elevation of my blood pressure, I finally was provided a King bed (fronting the road, but that's relatively insignificant). The attitude of the front desk was scandalous. Because they were sold out, during the busy summer season, and perhaps because I had a "discounted" rate, they decided to do things to extract best value for themselves. Anyway you think about it, a confirmed guaranteed room is what you expect; not a change of room type in their reservation system!!! And attitude to boot!!! Other than this initial check-in experience, the hotel was the standard Express you'd expect. However, when next in Coeur d'Alene, I will stay elswhere, FOR SURE!!! read more

This is where I usually stay when I come to town. This hotel has always been a nice place to kick back and relax! This stay I was lucky and got upgraded to their Feature Suite. It consists of a whirlpool, fireplace, and split rooms! Pool area looks decent with art on the tiles. Inside pool and hot tub. Breakfast area is decent, normal HIE breakfasts. Lobby is neat, and they offer board games to play. I will keep on coming here when I travel through CDA. Only downfall is the internet is sloooooooowwww! I have been resorting to my Verizon MIFI with 4G to do any surfing. read more

This place is SO nice, and the staff is awesome. The rooms are very modern, clean, and the shower was great. The continental breakfast was delicious (after traveling almost 2000 miles, a good breakfast is important)! My parents stayed here, and my fiancé and I stayed in our camper outside. When my parents asked if we could join for breakfast (even willing to pay) and the gentleman at the desk said "your guests are our guests. They're welcome to anything here." I'm a big fan of Holiday Inn Express as a general rule, and this property doesn't disappoint. The staff was friendly, the provided food was great...they even provided dinner! (Though this was due to the Ironman event, I believe, so it's not a regular thing. But still: hospitality!) The location is conveniently near a running trail, within walking distance to restaurants and shopping, and is only a short jaunt away from the lake and downtown Cd'A. The fitness facilities could be better, but overall they were certainly enough for most people, and if you need more involved fitness facilities, the Croc Center is less than a mile away. Good experience. Will likely stay there nearly every time I'm in Cd'A. read more
