    General manager no AC
    Andy M.

We booked this room. It had no AC. We called the front desk and this lady came up. She turned it off at the thermostat and unit and it did not work. My children are in the middle of taking baths and getting ready for bed. She then told us to get out if we did not like the fact there was no AC. We booked thru hotels.com. When we asked for a refund she told us to "f off" and call them. When we contacted them they said she claimed we were rude. This general manager put three kids under ten out with no where to go. She is rude. The establishment is rude. The fact that it's deal with a room with no AC or leave is unreal. This lady's name is Nicole Sevick and she's a horrible manager and person.

This hotel is a prime spot. There are restaurants all around it such as Taco Bell, Arby's, Subway to name a few. All within walking distance. My daughter & I stayed here one evening after a long drive from Washington state. We had driven 20+ hours. The hotel is very nice and clean. We had 2 queen beds comfortable enough for us. We were able to rest well and shower prior to heading back on the road. I would recommend this hotel.

Mid road trip from San Mateo, CA to Western MA, I got an unexpected call from my friend Lucas. His wife, my close friend Jamie, was going to have her baby...that very night! I was in Bismarck, ND at the time, a short 760 miles from where Jamie was currently getting ready to have an emergency c-section. Our plan had been to arrive in Milwaukee the following day and spend the weekend with very pregnant Jamie and her hubby Lucas. Complications with the pregnancy necessitated a change of plans! The plan turned in to a marathon day of driving, hitting lots of traffic following an accident in Minneapolis, and arriving a little short of our destination. We made it to De Forest, WI, crashed for the night and arrived bright and early the next morning in Wauwatosa, WI to see the beautiful new mommy, proud papa, and little baby Bryn. The Holiday Inn Express in De Forest is conveniently located right off the highway, is close to Madison (about 15 miles) and not a far drive from Milwaukee (about an hour and a half). Best of all, the beds were amazingly comfortable (I LOVE THE SIMPLY SMART BEDDING), and despite the stress and worry I managed to get a good night's sleep. Whenever I stay at a Holiday Inn Express, I always want to steal the sheets and pillows. Apparently, this isn't something new because they now sell them at participating Holiday Inn locations, including this one. I also loved the Express Start Breakfast Bar. I could lie and say it's because of the yogurt and fruit, but really, it is for the cinnamon rolls, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy... The Holiday Inn Express is also conveniently located right across the street from the Ehlenbach's Cheese Chalet .

Hotel is pretty good, there was very limited staff when we went there. Our room was not cleaned all the way when we arrived which isn't pleasant. However the staff we did encounter was very pleasant to work with. Rooms are spacious and comfortable as well. Complimentary breakfast is included.

My husband and I spent hours going through their repertoire, listening to quartet versions of the songs on YouTube and carefully selecting what we wanted to hear. We provided the list to the contact person, but our selections were completely ignored. In fact, they didn't even play the song (Air on the G String, pretty standard fare) I had chosen for my bridal party to walk down the aisle to. I don't even know the song they actually played. Every time I hear A on the G String, I'm brought back to that moment and I am annoyed. They played the theme to Super Mario Brothers during my cocktail hour. Cute? Kind of. Not on my list though, and not what I wanted to hear. The played a lot of classical musical. (Also not on my list.) I wanted to hear Stairway to Heaven and Dave Matthews Band, which is why I spent so much money on a string quartet instead of hiring a group of college students. Additionally, after the ceremony they were to go to the reception location and being playing there. When I walked into my cocktail hour, their instruments were sitting by their chairs, but they were not to be seen. I said something to my dad and he mentioned he saw one down at the hotel internet cafe on the computer. What?! Seriously?! My father went down and got him. His response? "Oh, we didn't know we were supposed to play as people were entering." Like I said, my guests loved the quartet, but they didn't pay for something they didn't get. If I could go back, I would save $900 and hire the college students.

We were able to create a playlist and provide links to song we wanted about a week before the wedding so all in all it worked out and we got the music we wanted played. I do wish they had a more comprehensive list for you to choose from but do understand how they come about offering the songs they do. Our DJ was awesome! He covered all the details with us a few days before and took requests the night off. I was very happy with how the reception turned out.

While the fitness center at the Waunakee Village Center is quite a bit smaller than than any of the health clubs in the area, it is close to where I live. That convenience meant actually getting to the gym, working out and getting value for my membership. What I like: * The fitness center is immaculate and the equipment is well maintained. There always is a staff member walking around with a spray bottle keeping things clean. * There's lots of natural light. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but after working out in places with with artificial lighting, it's like night and day (pardon the obvious pun). * The fees are reasonable. A single membership is $300 annually and my health insurance picks up half the tab. * It's not over crowded. Even during the busy periods in January and February, I could always get on a treadmill or elliptical machine. * The staff are cheerful and always helpful. What I don't: * Weekend hours are not great. 7 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays and 9 AM to 5 PM on Sundays. The late opening time on Sunday is especially frustrating. * Classes cost extra and the good ones fill up very quickly. So if you're living in the only Waunakee in the World and are looking for a great place to workout, definitely consider a membership at the Village Center.

Being a work-from-home mom the Village Center was a convenient place to start. My hours are pretty flexible and I can drop by on my lunch break or late afternoon. I've been here at various times and it's never been super packed. I have always found a treadmill or elliptical to work on. I usually just stick to cardio at the gym and the equipment here is great! All the machines have TVs, although I usually just binge watch something on Netflix while working out. Membership is very reasonable for residents. You get $5 off per group fitness class if you are a gym member. Since my workout times are all over the board I haven't done any of the classes. The staff is very friendly. The place is very clean and doesn't smell of sweat when you enter - a big deal for me.

Booked a week (5 nights) for business purpose super convenient location to the conference center (Truck Country). I feel like the owners are trying but the hotel is outdated and in need or repairs and updates. The outside is clean and welcoming. But some small upgrades like new shower heads and better housekeeping would greatly help. Cons: Old, musty smelling, shower head was horrible all corroded from hard water and didn't spray decent. Furniture in the room was badly stained and soiled. Every table/counter surface needed a wipe down with disinfectant including the walls. Room frig never got cold, bathroom toilet was tiny, broken and old. The bed pillows were oddly tiny and the stinky soiled carpet needs to go. Pros: Serves free breakfast to guests with decent hours (6am-11am), cannot comment on quality because I did not utilize. Had a nice pool and hot tub, bonus actually in working order. Staff put me in a room away from the front desk, pool and lobby traffic area so I had a quiet stay. Best part of the room was the bed. Very comfortable and clean, there was a sheet and decent down comforter, not your standard thin or cheap sheets. While the pillows were very small the bed did have 5 pillows which was plenty for just one person.

We also had a digital camera taken during our stay but I have no way to track that. I'm very uncomfortable the fact that housekeeping has access to all these rooms and will take whatever they can.
