The staff was super friendly. I was here mid-week in late August. The weather was absolutely beautiful. I said on the rooftop bar and sat at the bar. Did you have a restaurant. They have a full bar with booze in addition to their own beer. I thought the Octoberish was just OK, but the rye pale ale was actually pretty decent. And I would definitely stop in again if I was in the area. They have a taproom on East Wash in Madtown, too. read more

We made reservations for Easter brunch bingo online and the site accidentally populated a 9am reservation for 9 people. I called to try to change it to 11am and your phone went to voice mail, we showed up at 11am, you know who was a rock star for us?! Rose!!! Interesting interior and the service was really efficient. Food OK. Cheese curds are not cheese curds, they are deep fried cubes of Munster. They are decent, but not curds. The fish sandwich was dependent but visually, not so great... what's with the square, thin flavorless piece of melted American Cheese on the very square fried fish... ala a McDonalds Filet-O- Fish. The "cheese" added nothing as it was flavorless and visually not speaking. Salads were nice but a bit on the spendy side. Fish sandwich with coleslaw or fries was 15 bucks. Cosmo was 10 bucks. So altogether with a tip... fish sandwich, one drink, cheese cubes and a salad was $70. Food wasn't terrible... but it just didn't feel like a $70 experience. Stopped in Tuesday evening of their "soft open". Taps weren't working yet but that's why places soft open, so no worries. Canned beer was still very good and service was excellent and very friendly. But the pizza...oh boy is the pizza good. Got the spicy pepp and it's different than any pizza I've had before. On an almost focaccia like crust, crispy on the outside but soft inside. Cooked perfectly with plenty of toppings. Really excellent, this is going to be dangerous to have so close by. Impressed that they found a way to offer a unique take on something as ubiquitous as pizza. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We got sat right away but waited 15 minutes before we had to get up and ask about a server. Another 10 minutes later she shows up. We got the dome this time that is located on the top patio portion. It was super cute and spacious. The one we got had a table that could probably fit like 10 looks, our party had 6. There were two space heaters, wireless/Bluetooth speaker and cards to play games. We ordered drinks and several shareables (appetizers). Stopped in after a bike ride on a Sunday afternoon. We love the one up in waunakee but it's kinda far for us so glad to have one here in Madison. The beer was delicious I had the Love train, great IPA it was so good I went for seconds. Same with the pizza so good we had to get another one. We just ordered the sauce pie with shredded mozzarella essentially a cheese pizza then we got the Sausage Thyme pizza to go both were excellent. I'm more of a red sauce gal which had visible chucks of tomato. Can't wait to go back and try more pizza and enjoy more delicious beers on tap. We sat on the patio and my toddler loved waving to the pedestrians and people watching. They had a couple tvs in the bar and some gambling machines including pull tabs. 5/5 recommend if you like pizza and beer! read more

Fantastic spot for Friday fish fry! If you live in WI, then you've had your fair share of fish fry. This spot goes things a bit different and the quality shows. We had three kinds of fish and the breading is the star of each. The perch was my favorite since it's thin and super crispy due to the cornflake and panko crust. The fried haddock is quite thick and has a light and flavorful breading. A nice big piece of walleye comes with a crunchy pretzel crust. Despite the website touting the fish paired with orange instead of lemon, neither were present in my orders. Wasn't a huge fan of the hushguppies, as a I much prefer a traditional hushpuppy. Great service on the phone for taking orders and everything was ready to go when we arrived. read more

We have visited Madison several times from Chicago and had Lone Girl on our short list of breweries to visit...but we finally visited today. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY! First: what a cute downtown the brewery is located within! We easily found parking and loved the pretty walk to the rooftop seating. And oh my gosh...what BEAUTIFUL outdoor seating for this time of COVID-19! The rooftop seating is breath-taking and so much fun! We were so excited from the moment we walked in! We were treated with kindness and warm welcoming from the moment we walked in! Our server was one of the highlights of the experience. He was incredibly helpful, kind, and informative! I'm kicking myself for not taking his name so I could mention him personally...but he was great! He personally helped me figure out the best possible flight (I loved all 6 beers!) and we walked away with a six-pack of the Harry's Coconut IPA because of his salesmanship AND the deliciousness of the beer! My spouse got a flight of 6 IPA's and he LOVED IT! I got 5 beers and I will list them from good to favorite: Baltic Porter, Hoop Hop Sour, Re-Boot IPA (tasted like VT Alchemist's Heady Topper), Harry's Coconut IPA (we got the six pack of this), and the Drunken Sap Maple Brown. They were all amazing, but the Drunken Sap was magical! For food, my spouse got the berry spin salad since he wasn't very hungry. He loved the flavors and substance of the salad and was very pleased. I got the BBQ Pork Smash sandwhich with a side salad and really enjoyed it! The Granny Smith apples and honey mustard with the bbq pulled pork was a perfect combo. I walked away very pleased. Plus the prices were great and there were TVs in the outdoor spaces if folks want to watch sports! What more could you want? While we are sad it has taken us this long to get out to Lone Girl, we are SO EXCITED that we finally made it! It will now be a staple of our Madison excursions! On a beautiful Wednesday night our group arrived with a reservation in hand for one of their rooftop tables. The tables were well spaced but there was still a pretty good crowd. Fortunately there are plenty of umbrellas given it was pretty sunny. The waiter at first was hard to find but he picked up the pace as the evening went on. We started with some drinks. I tried the Mai Girl, a version of a Mai Tai which was good but not great. We then ordered their deep fried cheese curds which were very good. Everyone enjoyed them. I got the Bluto's Revenge - their version of a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. It was tasty with a good amount of spice and the chicken was moist. Others got the beet salad - very good. And the BLT - what can I say, excellent bacon. The fish tacos were also good though messy. We liked the vibe of the rooftop and we will be back. read more

This is not the first time my husband and I have come to The Lone Girl because he likes the beer. We walked in and sat at one of the tables by the bar since the bar was full. We waited about 5 minutes and no server came to our table so I went to the bar to order drinks. I waited while the bar tender was helping another customer. I continued to stand and wait at the bar while the bar tender emptied the dishwasher and talked with other staff members. I even waived my hand to get his attention with no luck. After another 5-10 minutes of waiting I gave up and my husband and I left. This is not the first time the service has sucked here. read more

Stopped here as part my birthday weekend of brewery tours in the Madison area.. Liked my beers a lot, and liked most of our meal! I think the kitchen rushed the highly touted cheese "curbs" (I dunno if that's a typo, but I'm guessing not because they're the first cubed cheese curds I've ever had).. flavor-wise they were great but really could have stayed in th fryer for another minute or so. One of my wife's was cold, and a few of mine were just over room temperature. I'm used to cheese curds being gooey and pretty warm. A couple of these were but most weren't. I had a feeling when they came out of the kitchen so quickly that they were either not done or done but not freshly cooked. The brewben (could be spelling it wrong) was great! I'd definitely order that again if we make it back. The beers were pretty darn tasty..I had the Sweet Baby Stout, and liked it a lot. My wife got a flight of 4 beers, and I think she liked them all. Staff was awesome! We'll be back.. just keep those curds in the fryer a little longer next time! read more

To start off we got seated very quickly and got our own private room (I came with a hockey team, but if you came here normally it might be a little), and got our drinks very quickly. Also there is a outside rooftop area with a campfire and tents which was very nice. The kids sat at a big table and the adults sat at these round tables in the private room. They had great waiters/waitresses checking up on us frequently and giving refills. We all ordered very quickly and got our food really quickly, so great service. But I would say the food was very average and is very similar to other "average" restaurants. I would recommend coming here and getting food, but don't expect it to be the best. In conclusion this is a more "average"restaurant and has normal food. read more

The food came quick and the service was great. The food on the other hand was another story. To start the food was average at best the nachos didn't taste to good and were soggy. The chicken tenders were dry and soft and the tacos tasted horrible. The chicken wings and French toast were great though. I expected more from the food at this place. Anyway this place might be a good option if your looking for something quick. 2.8 We recently went for the Friday Fish fry menu in our quest for great FF's in the area. Nope, although we were excited at the various choices and the service was very good the food was not at all up to par, and especially at these prices. Both the Walleye and the bluegill were way too heavily breaded and wet inside. The salad was warm and literally everything was a little or a lot off. Oh, and fake breaded French fries turned me off at the drop. They need a recipe redux ASAP. Too bad, it's a great looking place. read more

Long Girl is solid brewery and pub vibe. Atmosphere is fun, busy, but not overpowering in noise. The beers have been good, including a recent carrot based beer. The food is generally quote good. Some dishes better than others, but overall quite good. Cheese curds are always good and the burgers are worth it. Fish fry wasn't as good as I expected for Wisconsin but would definitely come back. read more

We arrived around 8:15 on a Thursday evening. We were told that we could seat ourselves on the rooftop bar for outdoor dining. We found a table, scanned the QR code on table for menu, and waited 20 minutes. During those 20 minutes, nobody came to the table to take our order, bring water, etc. We had no contact with any staff members. There were other people there, but it was not crowded. So we decided to go downstairs to see if it would be any different. The sign said to seat ourselves, which we did. Again, 10 minutes passed, and then someone came over and told us we could not sit there as the dining area was closed and we would need to eat in the bar area. There were a couple of other tables in the dining area with guests. The bar area was loud and more crowded. We asked if we could stay in this section and were rudely told "no". After the treatment received at this establishment, I could never recommend this place to anyone. I definitely will not be back. We drove over to Buck and Honeys and were greeted with a smile by a hostess, shown a booth, given a menu and water. The waitress arrived promptly to take our orders with a warm smile. We had sandwiches, my wife had the rueben and I had a spicy chicken sandwich. The sandwiches were the best we've had in a long time and the coleslaw was the best I've ever had.
