The room appeared decent and clean until noticing yellow stains on the pillow cases, and a Red stain on the wall. This was reported and the clerk on duty as well as the assistant manager of housekeeping resolved the situation by offering another room and reward credits followed with sincere apologies which sufficed. Breakfast was good and the vegan/vegetarian options were nice to have. The veggie omelets and Turkey sausage were delicious. Before breakfast was over, the sweet lady Debi who cooks the food, offered the guests to extras which was pretty great. For this being one's first time in Flint as well as staying at the Holiday Inn Express, this was an experience that will be remembered. The staff were attentive and respectful. read more

Got here at 2:30pm but rooms weren't ready till 3pm, so what now? Went on a run along the river in the heat of the day. Felt hot with no wind, but otherwise nice scenery. Got back an hour later and the rooms were finished. Nice people at thr check in counter too! My room key didn't work, but housekeeping happened to see me and let me in. I can see why the reviews are so so. You expect a little more when price is fairly high. I can't complain tho. I'm in town for the Crim 10 miler and you can walk to the start from here. read more

I don't know Flint all that well, but I was interested in coming up here to see a few things with my date, and decided instead of driving all over God's half acre, we'd book a room for the night to rest and relax. Granted, Flint's like a full hour from us, but we wanted to not feel pressure to hurry up and come home. So, we booked a hotel here after much searching. For starters, this hotels in a great location. Not to far off I-475, but more importantly, it's less then a mile from the Art Museum, Planetarium and Sloan museum. We booked it at a good rate and had a really good time here. It's also immediately across the street from the farmers market! Like you could walk here! I would book here again in the summer just for that. Walking in, the lobby has tons of seating space and was super clean. Desk staff were professional and we were checked in rather quickly. Parking here is great, and we were always able to get a spot close to the front lobby. They have good parking in the back so you don't have to walk to far from your car to get here. The room we got was two queen beds since it was the best rate on the website I booked through. The room itself was super clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Fresh towels, coffee and a Keurig to boot! There was also a fridge as well for any leftover food you have, along with a great desk area and plenty of room to move about. They also have a breakfast bar in the morning here with pancakes, omelet's, cereal, and bagels. They serve coffee all day but the tea section was super picked over. Breakfast's served daily and we pigged out here! I mean, the food isn't life changing but it's better then getting dressed on a Sunday Morning and venturing out into the cold. Overall, a really positive experience here. I don't know why people give this place so much slack, but it's actually a good place to stay. Poor service and poor location. The fact that the hotel had security means that you could be in danger. Will never stay at this hotel again. On that note I will never stay at a Holiday Inn Express ever again. I have been waiting over a week for my deposit back. First of all I rarely give out a one as a review as I try to give people or companies the benefit of the doubt, but their is no excuse for this place when they charge $120 a night. Now, I'll go to the review. The check in experience at 9:30 PM on July 13, 2020 was a joke. She did not greet me or any pleasantry whatsoever. It took her a good five to 10 minutes to check the guy in front of me. I expect a line and slowness around 5 PM because of volume, but this is just slow and not caring. The next thing that I noticed was two room cards lying on the floor of the elevator. That tells me two things. One the place doesn't give a damn about security and secondly the don't clean much. Even during COVID! The next thing is my room had so much sprayed fragrance that it made me sleep with mask on. My throat was raspy from it in the morning. The furniture looks like it came from a thrift store. The bathrooms are old and stained. The whole place look like a scene from a bad 80s movie. The carpet is damp from the crummy air conditioner. The bed was comfortable, but who knows how clean even during the age of COVID. The bottomline is this place is about one step from charging an hourly rate if you get my meaning. Holiday Inn should be embarrassed to have its name on this place. It needs a total makeover of ownership, the building, and of management. Stay away from here! read more

The room is very clean. Couldn't get a government rate because it was considered a blackout day. I'm on the fourth floor and so far all is quiet. Looking forward to the breakfast tomorrow morning. The lady at the front desk was very nice. The bed is also very comfortable. I always recommend a good set of earplugs no matter what hotel you stay in. We just stayed here for the weekend. The room were fairly clean, outdated but clean, the hallways were extremely dirty, the breakfast was ok, the bed was not bad. The price was decent. People were friendly and helpful. In a very convenient location. Shuttle service is provided which is so helpful because there almost zero to none lyft or uber service. Ok this place is decent. It's near the campus and convenient. The rooms are spacious and nice. The manager Katie was great and made sure we had a ride downtown in their van for dinner. (The maintenance guy/ driver drove a little crazy tho). We had full breakfasts every morning with Norma Jean. She is nice and very friendly always making sure u have what u need. Even a tray if u want to go to the room and eat. Also this is a first that with a late check out the maid did NOT knock on the door to see If we were checking out yet!! Dirty and terrible customer service. Our group had 9 rooms, all of which had dirty and moldy showers/bathrooms. One also had BED BUGS, another BLACK MOLD, and another had a used condom on the floor. We left after 1 of 3 nights and were charged for all 3 nights. The manager was rude and didn't return my boss's calls regarding the resolution and refund. Do not use this hotel, horrible owners and management. They have cockroaches and other bugs in the rooms. This hotel was robbed twice within 3 days in the beginning of October and still same crappy security in place. No cameras on the front outside the hotel, shady and dark surroundings. I stayed there during these robberies and on the first one I was held at gun point in the lobby. Contacted customer relations with IHG as I didn't think I should have to pay for that stay when robbery occurred and as a thank you from the hotel owners I was told to leave today due to complaints to IHG corporate office. The executive King I reserved was not available so I was "upgraded" to room 420 which was a Jacuzzi room. AS i sat in the Jacuzzi I looked out at the dirty hand print on the wall to the right of the Jacuzzi (wall nearest faucet). When I used the toilet in the bathroom it took 2-3 flushes to get any solids to go down. Couch is very filthy so I brought towels to room from the pool area and placed them on couch. Elevator doors slam shut with lots of force and creak and rattle on the way up or down. The Television is Directv but one third of the stations are not usable. I definitely would not pay money to stay here. While a no smoking facility the smokers (both staff and guests) crowd around the entry doors to smoke so you will get your daily dose of second hand smoke while entering or exiting the facility Stay elsewhere if you can as this is not up to the HIE standards read more

I would give this fine establishment a solid 2 STARS! Let's review the highlights! Moldy shower (but only slightly), really rude/mean/hostile/swearing front desk clerks, only moderately dirty guest rooms (dusty, stale, etc.), partially functional air conditioning, a sink that has a "slow drain" effect, a toilet that runs all night, and dining room tables that get wiped down every 7-9 business days. On the positive side, all of the derelicts that they let stay here only scream, yell, and bang on various furniture until 2AM in the morning, so it's very easy to get sleep after that. Have to give them an extra star because there was hot water and no bed bugs. Also they have cucumber water downstairs in a dispenser that was manufactured sometime around my 10th birthday. Luckily I think the 6-day old cucumbers absorb all of the lead. read more

The staff were efficient and courteous. Parking was limited but a manager came out to find a place for us. 24-hr on site security staff. Everything you would expect in a motel was done well. The most amazing part of our stay that prompted this review was the breakfast in the morning. Absolutely incredible. They had warm biscuits and gravy along with warm delicious cinnamon rolls. My wife has a gluten allergy and they even had individually packaged gluten free muffins and bagels out. I never would have guessed they would have these. It was a pleasant surprise. The worst hotel I have ever stayed at in the 1000 hotels I have stayed. Location is God awful, in the middle of crime ridden Flint. No gas station, no place to eat though they claimed they were very close to restaurants, I don't consider 10 miles close. Decided to stay in and watch baseball playoffs, but the TV doesn't get TBS, not does it get any ESPN channels. Though the guide says it does. The A/C unit is from the 1950's and the room is the smallest I have ever stayed at in a Holiday Inn Express. If I didn't get here so late I would have checked out. Stay at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Fenton, far better, places to eat and you don't need to carry a gun to get to your car. Management should be embarrassed. read more

There were far too many people hanging out in the lobby and in front of the door and while the rooms were big, they were nothing special. Plus many of the TV channels didn't work. This hotel is gross! We stayed because we were stranded due to snow storm. The employees were nice the rooms were filthy. I say rooms because it took three rooms for us to decline before finding an acceptable room that really should have been declined too. In these rooms we found used towels, mold, crumbs in between sheets. There was hair in the shower and I found an earring between the sheets. That's not to mention the floors needed vacuuming. Sweet breakfast lady. Not a great part of town, but was convenient for my morning meeting location the SCR day. Does the heat even work?? The AC was blasting when I got into the room, and it was freezing. I turned it heat immediately and left for dinner. It was still cold 3 hrs later. It really is Unfortunate that I have to leave a bad review, I visited from out of town stayed 4 nights. They are remodeling the hotel and the rooms are lovely, other than Housekeeping not cleaning our room the entire stay the room was fine. My issue is with the customer service. I was not told that each day the room key has to be reactivated, after being locked out of my room 2 days in a row the young lady at the front desk finally explained that you have to bring the key card down everyday around noon to reactivate it. On my last day I come down to have my key card reactivated and this older lady with a short cut wig was there, she was very rude when I approached, spoke and asked for my card to be reactivated. After leaving I noticed that she charged my card $89 for another night. I called and they claimed that the manager is the only one who can process refunds. The following morning I had an early flight, I was told that the manager was still not available until later but I couldn't stay. So I currently still have an Extra $89 charge on my card for a night that I did not request or need. Be very careful when dealing with the older lady at the desk she doesn't seem happy with her job and she's making mistakes in the process. read more

I called the night before my arrival and they told me there was no shuttle to the airport. The driver was sick, so I looked for a place with an operating shuttle. Then I called back and cancelled my reservation. The man on the phone said, no problem, I would not be charged. Then of course I was charged even though I did not stay there. I spoke with the manger Rita, who disputed all of it and was the most rude person I have ever experienced in the service industry. She yelled over the phone and would not listen. I asked for her supervisors name and she refused to provide it. Stay away from this place and Holiday Inn Express find a new manager. I got bed bugs during my stay, which I obtained in two separate rooms, caught one and showed to management. And I received no refund. The one star is because the breakfast staff was so kind, the housekeeping staff was helpful. The staff I dealt with outside of management was very nice. I'm pretty easygoing but I don't think people should pay to stay in an environment where they are exposed to that and if they are, it should be handled appropriately. But it wasn't. We arrived weary and late after a long day of driving with 4 kids in the minivan. We were pleased to be able to find something last minute that cost less than $100 including all taxes (with a AAA discount) and breakfast. The room and bathroom were clean and seemed "fresh". The shower was one of the best I'd had in a long time - better pressure than I have at home! The front desk personnel were super friendly and helpful.
