Complimentary means called out. My daughter was fat shamed for returning for another .05 popsicle from the complimentary foods. I had work so I didn't get to speak with anyone but notified IHG of the way things were handled and how disgusting & rude people had became. Once we checked out we received a call that we had stole 3 pillows. A complete vindictive move by the staff because my claim about their behavior had NOT been resolved and closed for their record keeping. I told them to roll back the cameras and see that we had brought our own pillows because there's along with their beds were really awful. Have not heard back from them. Just know they're vindictive and rude and I would say this hotel is trying their hardest to be nice but just isn't. Heads up, if you have children or if you are friendly--they are not. Besides one lady, the breakfast lady, she was so sweet. Hope nothing but the best for her sweet soul. read more

Listened to them turn away a mother and her child at 8:00p at night because they were local (from the next town over in another state) and didn't want "trouble." (They did have rooms available.) Clean cut, woman in her 40s, crying, just trying to find a place for her and her daughter to sleep safely for the night. They referred her to the drug motel down the street. read more

Yes - I am giving a Holliday Inn Express 5-stars! They earned it. In town for a wedding, and this was the 3rd leg of a 4 leg trip (25 days of travel, 4 hotels). Of the 4 hotels I stayed in, this was the CLEANEST, and friendliest experience by far. This hotel is clean...When I commented to a member of the staff (Codie) at how new everything looked, he said they worked hard to keep it that way - and it shows. My room was clean, spacious, and had everything you'd expect. The morning breakfast was hot, with lots of great choices; the coffee was flowing!!! The staff from the front desk, to the breakfast attendants, to the cleaning team were friendly, kind, and attentive. There's a nicely appointed fitness center and guest laundry facilities - both were clean and well maintained. The hotel is close to EVERYTHING and super convenient. I have stayed at several Holiday Inns but this one in Middleboro is by far the best experience for me so far. Huge thanks to Zach and Kayla who provided exceptional customer service during my stay. My three kids and I checked in at midnight to attend my graduation at LMU. Zach was full of enthusiasm for the area and helped provide me with all the information I needed, including restaurants, coffee places, etc. He was so knowledgeable and very entertaining to speak with. Kayla called me within an hour of checking out to let me know they found an item we had inadvertently left behind. She graciously offered to mail it back to me, as I was already an hour's drive away. I can truly say that their hospitality was #1 and I will always have those warm memories rounding out my graduation at LMU. Thank you all so very much! read more

Each and every staff interaction I had was extremely friendly and professional. There was a little trouble finding one of the two reservations I had made bit the front desk persisted and never showed any frustration or loss of professional in getting everyone in my party situated. The free breakfast was well appointed (hot and cold items) and the staff working the breakfast area was on top of everything. Only issue I couldn't resolve was they did not have adjoining rooms, like I had reserved and could not accommodate that when we got checked in. Overall, a small issue in the grand scheme of things. Would certainly stay here again if I'm back in Middlesboro. read more

Holiday inn- I have stayed here several times and it is a pretty nice place BUT DO NOT book ahead and have a family death that causes you to forget about the reservation because they WILL NOT MAKE any COnCESSIOn to let you cancel 1 of the 3 rooms you have booked. Just 1 and only a day late. It's not like the hotel will NOT be booked on graduation weekend.... I can not tell you how disappointed I am in this establishment.. So again do not book ahead...... 2nd Floor with two beds. Nice clean room with fridge, microwave, soft clean beds, clean bathroom, and a Keurig coffee maker. Staff members are courteous and helpful with local resources. The air conditioner/ heater has a self adjustable option that allows you to not only set the temperature, also adjust allow a fan to constantly run. Picnic area off to the side with tables and over hang for those that smoke. The light fixtures have plug outlets but no usb plugs so bring you adapters. The breakfast spread in the morning was awesome with a buffet of food that everyone would like. They also had a coffee bar with all the fixings and store bought creamer which is like being at home. My review is for December 2020, the service, cleanliness , breakfast and comfort were all very good. Location is on 25E close to Walmart, surprisingly quite. The breakfast staff really stood out as exceptional Kendra ,Pam and Debbie were superstars. What I was given to expect by the company that was putting me up there was different from what Holiday Inn advertises (my company was wrong), so I'll not review my initial letdown. The lobby had a nice flat screen TV, from the outside the place looked fairly modern - nice couch, decent lobby, open computer. My room though was a La Quinta circa 1980 except with white walls instead of a yellow popcorn look. This is what is referred to as a "refreshed" hotel. This is what a hotel that's become dank, dingy, etc gets - a makeover. This hotel's physical makeover was done decently, but my room still looked like a brand-new 1980's hotel room. It had a 20 inch crt tv with no VGA, HDMI or RCA in, you couldn't order pay per view - oh, you could see the preview channels but if you want anything on them, forget it. Not a terrible disappointment, but if it's late, you're not watching any recent movies. Air conditioner would not stay on. It functioned, but whenever it was time to not cool any more the fan kicked off. With the fan off I would notice people walking around outside the door. When it kicked on I would be woken up. I set the temp to as low as it would go in an attempt to keep the AC on as white noise. There was no evident "keep fan on" setting - it seemed to be heat, cool, fan hi low or off There were smells that would appear randomly. My room varied between perfume and poo - I think it may have been wafting from the public bathroom located right outside my door. My co-worker's room smelled constantly like a locker room to him. The picture of someone's room with the 3 pictures above the bed - that was not my room. The place was devoid of any decor. The only thing that really stood out was the 80's wall lamps. I don't have anything against the 80's decor, and perhaps I've become a snob with the word "refresh" as generally it means to make newer as opposed to "restore" which is what I consider this place to have been. Restored back to 1980, when it was probably a La Quinta. Had I paid over $100 to stay there (which is what I heard them say) I would have been pissed. As it was not my money I was merely put out by the inability to sleep and escape the random smells. If what I think is the case, probably only our two rooms were affected by the public area bathroom smells, so I wouldn't assume the entire place suffers ghost smells. The bathroom was large, the tub was not. I'm used to tubs being too small for me to stretch out in, but this tub didn't come halfway up my calf. It was the shortest tub I had ever seen. I think 2 shoes on top of each other might peek out over the rim. Was not an issue as I was not tubbing it, but man - if you wanted to soak your butt, that was all that was going to get wet. Hotel breakfast - it was standard. Coffee was meh, sweets were decent, eggs were folded with a square of some sort of cheese in them if I remember right... thought it might be Kraft singles. Overall not great, not terrible. Some things to note about the area: dry county. No booze in gas stations, no bars, no steakhouses with booze. As far as I can tell there is no way to buy alcohol in any form. The nearest booze is ~7-9 miles away in Virginia. Vegetarian food in this area appears to mean vegetables cooked in meat juice but containing no chunks, or refried beans fried in lard, or fish or poultry. Chains I normally can get a veggie burger at didn't have them and hadn't heard of them. I didn't go to a whole lot of places, just resigned myself to chips and salsa and breakfast bar. I could have missed the area's thriving vegetarian community, but I sort of don't think so. If it costs $100 as it seemed to, I'd advise going down the road a bit. As a business traveler I wouldn't spend more than $60 a night on that place and I would still feel overcharged. read more

Nice clean and the staff is friendly. If you Travel by motorcycle, they will let you park it right in from of the reception (nice). Lunch/Dinner is a problem unless you are looking for fast food or buffets. Also don't expect and bars close by because this hotel is located in a dry country. read more

We were initially booked by our company at another place that was very, very poor. (we learned a valuable lesson) We found this the holiday inn online and it was not that expensive. When we got booked in, the front desk clerk was very attentive and got us checked in quickly. When I initially booked the room there were some not so good reviews on the hotel from 2 years ago, it seemed to get a little better after the renovations. The rooms were big, bright and very clean. It had a nice big bath tub, and enough counter space in the restroom for all of the girls stuff. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were pillow top brand and very big. This was one of the best free breakfast that I have had a hotel, they had pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, biscuit n gravy, cinnamon buns, three types of juice, milk, yogurt and cereal. I give this a 4 star all the way. If you read the other reviews, you will see that's its been a while since they stayed here and they have completed their renovations. Good free WiFi, and no other surprising charges. Not a lot of restaurants and one of the biggest for me: ITS A DRY COUNTY I would recommend. read more

I checked in at this Holiday Inn May 4th, on a Thursday night. I didn't have an issue with the staff or my stay until Sunday midday when I decided to go work out in their gym. I left my bag upstairs and the rest of my belongings except for my phone, Ipad and hotel key. When I went back upstairs my hotel door was slightly open as the housekeeper was cleaning my room. I pushed my hotel door open and walked in on the housekeeper rummaging through my purse. I was floored, and within a second she saw me and jumped up. I said to her, you were just going through my bag and she didn't say anything. She essentially started acting irractically then stated she was tying her shoe then she just walked out the room. I called the front desk 3 times asking them to send someone upstairs and it wasn't until after the 3rd time that they sent the housekeeping supervisor. Immediately within entering my room the housekeeping supervisor was extremely flippant regarding the situation stating I probably didn't see correctly or I may have thought I saw her but she was tying her shoe. At this point I had called the police and the housekeeper even tried to allude to the fact that I was hiding something in my bag and that she was tying her shoe. Eventually the general manager came the police came and I believe because I had my bag on the floor and I had a prescription for Bactrim the housekeeper (who is obviously addicted drugs, I would know I dispense them for a living) thought it was a narcotic prescription. Nothing in my bag was missing, and the cops wanted to know if I would press charges which at that point because I thought they were going to reaccomodate me to another hotel (owned by the same owner, The Sleep Inn) I did not feel it necessary. Very few times in my life have I felt powerless and this situation absolutely was one of them. You see, what was the most diffcult thing about this situation to me wasn't the fact that the housekeeping had been going through my bag and I had caught her, it was the way the general manager and the housekeeping supervisor looked at me, spoke to me and regarded me, as if I was a liar. I understand standing by your employees but in particular the general manager did not handle the situation well especially because you should always listen to someone consider the entire situation prior to dismissing a truthful claim. What would I have to gain in ruining someone's livelihood who clearly doesn't have much. The general manager said that this had never happened before and that shed been an employee with there company for some time. I'm not from that area, I booked the hotel for a 3 week stay on business. Not only did the housekeepers nuisance displace me but the hotel manager refused to refund me all my money. I've stayed at countless hotels in my life some much nicer and some not as nice as HL. My father actually worked in a hotel prior to his retirement so I know how hard the housekeepers and the maintenance staff work. I would never accuse someone of such a heinous act, unless I saw it with my eyes which I did. It has been over a week and the hotel has not contacted me either through phone or email, nor have I received any apology or any follow up. I guarantee this, that was not the first time the housekeeper has gone through someone's bag and absolutely since she is still an employee she will continue to do this. If you are comfortable with drug addicts cleaning your room and going through your possessions then I would recommend staying at this hotel, if not I would not stay in any hotel in this town as the two properties that are reputable (Holiday Inn and Sleep Inn) are owned by the same person. read more

Needed a place to stay while on a college visit to LMU and choose Holiday Inn Express. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful during the check in process and offered suggestions on nearby local favorite restaurants. They quickly reprogrammed our card key when it wouldn't open our room door the first time. The room was immaculately clean and fresh smelling. The temperature was just right and the pillows and bedding were very clean and comfortable. The complimentary ear plugs were much appreciated by this light sleeper. The hot breakfast was being dished up by a hotel staff member due to COVID restrictions. It was delicious- in particular the biscuits and gravy were very tasty. We were on a family trip from california after the 4th of July and stayed here for two weeks. We were there to visit my wife's family. Everything was fine overall no complaints. Just some little little kids making a lot of noise but kids will be kids. We stayed there for two weeks. The place to me was spotless and the staff were super friendly. We will stay here again. This hotel was very clean and very accommodating for both my parents, who had a handicapped need and then my husband and myself. We had come down to the area for a funeral and the staff at the front desk were very kind and understanding, especially in relation to why we were down there. The free coffee, hot chocolate, water and hot tea in the lobby was very nice to come back to or as a "just checked in" treat. The breakfast that they had available to us both mornings during our stay was hot and yummy, not to mention a very welcome thing first thing in the morning for both my husband and myself. The guy that checked us in (I've since forgotten his name) was totally nice and welcomed us when we arrived to the hotel. I had to change my reservation and I called 8 days in advance and they would not refund my money for the day in question. All they could say was how sorry they were. IHG is a total rip off so don't use their program or website. If you have to book a room call the hotel directly at least then you can change it without getting screwed by IHG. read more

I stayed two nights to visit a friend and the LMU medical school nearby. This Holiday Inn is definitely a friendly and clean facility. The breakfast offers many selections and, despite my intolerences to gluten and lactose, I still had some selections from which I could choose. The room I stayed in (on the top-3rd floor) has a relaxing vibe and are kept up with cleaning and tidying. The staff members were great, friendly, and respectful which is a greatly appreciated. I certainly enjoyed my time there. If I come back to Middlesboro, I'm definitely staying over at this Holiday Inn! read more
