Broken Wing Pizzeria and Grill (open Sundays)

Ok. First of all this is NOT a Hampton Inn. It IS a Holiday Inn Express. Maybe it changed over at some point. Nice room, good bed, good facilities. Overall good hotel. Good location, right downtown. Checked in yesterday, Sunday afternoon. Asked the manager who checked us in if there were any close non-chain restaurant/bars to eat and have a few drinks. I was told 'not really, it is Sunday and most places are closed'. I pushed back on this a bit, and he did find a arcade/bowling alley place a mile or so away (Good Times of Olean) that was open. And Applebee's a few miles away. I asked about the Irish pub we passed coming in that looked open, Talty's. The response 'they are closed in Sunday's'. So. We had spent several hours driving and needed to stretch out legs. We went for a walk. Within a 10 minute walk from the hotel, including a place right next door to the hotel we passed at least 6 open establishments of varying genre's, all of which served adult beverages and at least 5 also served food. Including TALTY's! An excellent spot btw with a nice coal burning stove warming the bar. 2 of these establishments even had large signs posted out front stating 'Every Game Every Sunday'. So. I will post here pics of a few of the open places downtown Olean NY on Sunday. I recommend the management of the HIE reach out to these businesses. Be a community team player. Needless to say the ones I spoke with were a tad put out. Especially the guy next door (The Broken Wing Pizzeria and Grill).

The rooms were very clean and well maintained, very good and informative/proper posting about health safety with covid requirements during our stay. The shower had great pressure and bathroom was surprisingly decent size compared to the room. The windows can be sat/laid on with one long cushion, perfect for lounging with the tv or reading a book if you're looking to during your stay. Close to lots of eateries and parks, staff was helpful in recommendations. Dislike: The room was quite small (really cramped if you brought an animal) with no amenities other than tv but it is in the name as a microtel. The free wifi basically had no connection so it wasn't useful at all. The towels were pretty rough, but the killer for me was the TERRIBLE BED. I had to take a muscle relaxer and pain reliever the next day just to get through the ache of my back sleeping barely 3 hours as the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. If I'm paying for anything at a hotel, the bed is the number one thing to be good and this was far from it. It was hard as a rock and you could basically feel the springs, these need renovated for sure as it will be the main and only reason I will not go back to this or others worried other chains are the same. I asked for extra pillows the next night just to sleep on them and try to recover but they don't have many extra of those around either so it was still a somewhat rough night's sleep. Parking was rough our second evening and as their smaller lot filled up, we had to park at the dunkin' donuts next door which was a bit odd.

On a whim, my husband and I left on a weekend getaway. No accommodations booked. We found this…read morebeautiful hotel in Olean Ny. Located right across the street from A University. It was amazing. Clean, affordable & best of all the staff was just outstanding. In particular was Brandon. He checked us in, gave us the run down on every amenity offered. He was friendly knowledgeable and was at the desk every time we needed assistance. Breakfast was included with our stay which included waffles made to order. Good coffee with many other selections. Rooms were spacious clean and modern. Bathroom fully stocked with everything, no need for shampoo conditioners body wash even make up remover wipes. Best of all it was Quiet! 5 stars.

I have recently stayed at this Motel, 7/31/15-8/2/15 for a highschool reunion. This older looking…read moreMotel has been completely gutted and remodeled! I had a friend who stayed here at the same time in a different room. While yes they do have a surcharge on credit cards and there isn't any in-room coffee pot, these are but minor inconveniences! I had a room with a double bed. The room was completely remodeled. New walls.carpeting, lighting and the bathroom was a complete makeover with all brand new fixtures(tub/shower,toilet,sink,etc.) in the bedroom all completely new furniture, bed, mattress, tables, etc.! There is a very nice widescreen tv with Direct TV. and microwave and small fridge. All rooms are smoke free(which is normal these days), but just outside the door is a comfortable chair with a nice ash bucket next to the chair for smokers! Anne, the owner, who lives onsite is a very nice and caring Hostess who will go out of her way to assure that you have a comfortable stay. At the very corner of the Motel where the original office was, Anne has transformed this room into a comfortable, warm place, sort of a hospitality room, where Anne makes fresh coffee every morning for her guests. Also in this room is a microwave, toaster, sink, a very unique ice machine, and cups and condiments for the coffee. Also in this room is small table where you can relax with your favorite beverage and surf the net on the available Wi-Fi(which is available throughout the Motel) If you would like to stay at a friendly, old school Motel with customer service out of the past, you will not pass up a stay at this Motel! This a locally owned business(no large corporations here!). So, support a local American owned business with uncompromising service, you will pass on the large Chains down the road! Easy access to I-86 and to Allegany and Olean, N.Y. On state route 417, which is the easiest way to get to those 2 Towns. There are only 3 suggestions I have for the owner, 1 a small table next to the chair out front of your room, for your beverage 2, paper cups with lids available for the coffee and 3 a little placard stating that coffee is available in the hospitality room! Otherwise enjoy your stay! I know I did and will definitely stay here in the future the next time I have to stay in the Olean,N.Y. Area!
