General Manager Holiday Inn Greenbelt 7200 Hanover Drive Greenbelt, MD 20770 I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a very serious incident that occurred during my stay at the Holiday Inn Greenbelt on the evening of May 13, 2026, between approximately 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. During our stay, another guest entered our room using a key that had been issued by the front desk. At the time, my girlfriend was in the process of dressing, making the situation extremely alarming, invasive, and unacceptable. This incident represented a serious breach of guest privacy and safety. After the guest exited the room, he returned to the front desk and spoke with a male employee working there. I immediately attempted to express my anger and concern regarding what had just happened, but I was dismissively waved off with a hand gesture. The employee then stated, "I gave him the key, everything's okay." That response was completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and showed a disturbing lack of concern for the seriousness of the situation. As a result of this incident, my girlfriend was extremely uncomfortable and had difficulty sleeping throughout the night. The following morning, on May 14, 2026, at approximately 9:10 AM while returning our room keys, I again addressed the matter with the front desk attendant. Her response was that she was already aware and that the employee "made a mistake." Unfortunately, she also displayed an attitude that came across as dismissive and unconcerned, which only added to our frustration. This experience fell far below the standards of professionalism, safety, and customer care that guests should reasonably expect from a hotel operating under the Holiday Inn brand. A hotel issuing a room key to the wrong guest is a serious security failure that should never occur. I expect a formal apology regarding this incident, as well as a full refund for our stay. I also strongly recommend that management review security procedures and camera footage related to this matter to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents from happening to future guests. Came here as a guest for a weekend wedding. This Holiday Inn has definitely seen better days. Located right off I-295 at exit 193, it was.convenient for our purpose, a wedding at the Martin's event hall located next door. Upon checking, the staff were pleasant and our room was available immediately. Upon entering the room, it was clean and there were two double beds, a microwave and mini-fridge. There was a flat screen TV, and the usual: iron, ironing board, and toiletry items. The decor, for the room and hotel in general, was dated and in need of a makeover. We only decided to stay here because other wedding guests were here and we wanted to be where the action was, lol. The facility also had an outdoor pool area, a restaurant on-site for breakfast, lunch , and dinner ($). The hotel was close to route 193, which includes a shopping center with a Safeway market, Dollar Tree, Ross, Chevy's, liquor store, and other stores in case you needed to pick up something. We slept OK, but as I mentioned, this location is in need of a serious do over, but for our purpose, was just okay. All in all, if you have an event at the nearby Martin's it's a great choice, otherwise, there are other hotels along 193 that would be better to stay at. read more

I am not satisfied. This is unacceptable. No one should have to suffer because your organization ( Holiday Inn) does not know how to update their renovations correctly. I had to change 3 times before getting this room. First, there was no walk-in shower, 2nd room was a handicapped room that had a larger bathroom, but only had one bed, and now the 3rd one, this one. The rooms were not cleaned properly, the doors were closing but had wide cracks that were enough that something or someone could get in if the wanted to. The outlets were very loose and did not hold charging, like chargers for your phone and the iron. The bathroom still had the corking scrapes from when they tried to fix the tub and the siding. The floor was not vacuumed and had to keep my sock on the entire time. This place has been like this since last year under renovations from what I am told by the front desk. TAKE DOWN THOSE PICTURES ON YOU SITE. They are not what they are today. We did not have the pleasure of seeking another hotel as the wedding was the next day and traveled a great distance. It did not only affect me, but others who came in and stayed for the wedding. Very very unsafe- our car had its four wheels stolen at this hotel. Another three cars also were either broken into or wheels stolen. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Hotel staff did not want to engage regarding the incident. Hotel itself is under renovations but rooms are dated etc. But the safety of this place is lacking- just avoid. This place feels like a roadside motel. Decor and amenities extremely outdated and the hotel feels DIRTY. The elevator that opened made me feel like it was not for patrons (the walls, or lack thereof?) and it creaked and rocked the entire way up to my floor. The front desk was not welcoming at all, and there was a credit card issue that I have never had before at other IHG properties. Looks are definitely deceiving here. This place is outdated! There isnt enough adjectives in Webster's dictionary to describe how disgusting this place is. My friend came from Houston for a conference. The concierge a joke. The old man that was there, rude and clueless. The elevators squeak and made me feel that I should have took the stairs. The bathrooms dirty. Carpets look disgusting. Do not walk barefooted. Housekeeping is ok but they definitely cut corners when cleaning. Bring sheets and your own everything. Theres an old smell as your in the hallway. Its poorly lit. Not a good look if Greenbelt police is posted out front. Room service was the only thing that went well. Then my battle buddy arrived and his door wouldn't even close (fix was a new room [move] and $35 off). Then my door wouldn't work (fix was a new room and a $270 price tag). Arrived at hotel 1 hour early, check in time is at 3pm. The lady at the front desk informed me no early check ins and simply walked away. No recommendations, no suggestions, no nothing. So I sat down in the extremely stuffy lobby and began watching the footballl game they had playing on the television. However, she took exception to that so changed the channel and I have now been forced to watch a "Coppertone" infomercial for the last 30 minutes. Talk about petty! Also wear mask signs are posted everywhere in the lobby but not a single one of these miserable rascals has one on. We stayed one night at this Holiday inn. I was very pleased with the front desk person, a young lady named Clarice. She was very helpful and very courteous. Very sweet person. Made our check in smooth and easy . The location is good. Lots of places around to eat. The room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. We had a microwave and a fridge. The coffee maker didn't work. But I let the front desk know when we checked out. Im more than sure they addressed it. I hated the shower curtain. It WOULD NOT stay closed. It was annoying. Lol. Stayed here for 2 nights for business. I've stayed here in the past and the hotel service and value has been consistent. Distance wise, it's about 25 minutes away from BWI airport with minimal traffic. On a Friday mid-afternoon, it took me an hour to drive to downtown Baltimore. Pros: -Front desk staff Chris is very friendly and was excellent in service. Patiently answered all my questions and was able to follow through on any requests -Restaurant and bar is pretty good. Staff is friendly and they had a delicious crabcake on a brioche bun. Good selection of alcohol and TV's. -Vending machines accept credit card -Located in a large plaza but close enough to gas stations and stores (by car) Cons: -Stayed on first floor and was quite noisy late at night (near entrance) -No towel rack in the bathroom (nowhere to hang it) -Parking lot is located somewhat far and can get crowded at night If I visit for business I would stay here again. read more

I booked a reservation 3 weeks ago to arrive the day of to find out that they were over booked. I flew in from Florida for my aunts birthday. I called ahead to let them know I was running late they assured me that I was fine and my room would still be available. I was told when I arrived that they had a system issue and they started to allow people based on a first come first serve basis regardless of the reservation. This was the worse experience I've ever had at a hotel. I was basically stranded without a car and no place to stay. read more

This place is hard to find from the freeway, cause Google maps takes you thru a shopping center parking lot to get there. Used a different map the next time out and it seem to know where the place was (what's up Google). Big room, OK just not the newest Holiday Inn, but hey it was cheap price wise and we just need a place for the night. This hotel is showing look at the elevators, the buttons had gold trim around them back, to the 80s. Vending machines on each floor will take a credit card. Parking is free and there are lots of spaces. I wish they had a free continental breakfast like so the Express Holiday Inn's. read more

After driving over 24 hours across the country I wish I wasn't welcomed with an inattentive front desk receptionist (we waited in front of the desk for five minutes before the man came from the back room ALOOF, I was very irritated and noticed this receptionist did this to multiple guests, the front desk really needs a bell because none of the employees seemed to tend to their duties) . Also our room was a MESS! We found leftover Chef Boyardee in our bathroom and the sink was so disgusting. Also the shower was crusted over with dirt and I found someone else's pubes on the shower wall. Sadly me and my sister were too tired to request a new room since we literally traveled over 24 hours to Maryland but we do not appreciate how dirty our room was during a PANDEMIC. I'm so disappointed and can not believe I spent over $100 for a crusty, contaminated room. Clearly you guys must be hiring because no one did their job to ensure the rooms were clean. This hotel was one of the worst , if not the worst hotel experience I've had. The hotel is rickety, dingy, out-dated and poorly painted (in a failed attempt to "update" look of the hotel). e.g. cracking wooden door frames painted over with a darker wood stain. The staff was unavailable and slow. The first room I was given had a door that was so worn, that the door didn't close. I requested a new room (staff kindly obliged my request) and ALL of the furniture in the second room had big and noticeable stains, from the ottoman to the chair. The cleaning of the shower was subpar. Hair and cracks were in the shower. The toilet seat was not white and had a dark stain as well. I had to use my own clearing supplies to clean the room. The TV didn't work. None of the channels displayed a clear picture. The hotel elevator blew hot air instead of cool AC. The only potentially clean part of the room was the bed. And I was only comfortable sleeping there because the sheets were white. I would never under any circumstances advise anyone I like, love, or kinda care about to stay in this hotel. Never again. I travel for business frequently and prefer Holiday Inn. I'll ignore the not great room. I like a hotel with a restaurant/bar so that at night I can go downstairs and get some work done while eating supper. Well this place is apparently a club, DJ and all. I asked him to turn down the awful music. He wondered why I would ask such a thing. This is a city with a NASA center with many NASA travelers. All of my colleagues agreed it was awful. I can't take phone calls from here. There might as well be a jet airplane taking off behind me. This is seriously unprofessional. I have business to do and now I have to pack up everything, laptop and all, just to return a call because this terrible music is as loud as Club 54. So much for a working supper. This has been every night during the week, by the way. When I asked for the music to be turned down the DJ went on a rant and called me ignorant on the mic in front of everyone. Business travelers, STAY AWAY. Edit: upgraded rating after the management was very professional in addressing the issue. Edit 2: Interesting that someone else wrote a review on this place on the exact same day I did addressing the exact same complaints I had but refuting them. Not suspicious at all. The reviews are correct when it comes to this place. If you're looking for a conveniently located, reasonably priced hotel, then this is your spot. The room was comfortable and clean, but smelled of smoke despite there being a no smoking policy. The lobby does have a club/bar area where we saw quite a bit of people in the area during our Friday evening check-in. As a result, police are posted outside of the hotel during the hours of operation for the bar. When in the area, it is an okay choice though I would probably venture elsewhere next time around. read more

I am a big fan of Holiday inn Express franchise. But this hotel got me wanting to go to the competitor. Got in about 11:30pm because of crazy some late night construction along the way. Walking in lobby and it was dirty. Paper everywhere. Not sure if a lounge is part of the hotel or just accessible from the hotel But when cops have to monitor the place, it can not be a completely safe place to show up. The front desk attendant was pleasant. But sent me upstairs with 2 keys that did not work to open the door. Had to leave my things at the door and go back to get the keys coded. Understandable and not unusual. But to go down and return to get in the room. To find out that neither key worked a second time. Oh God. Not a good start to my stay. Got in the room. The decor was in a deep dark brown that looked black on top of a dark brown carpet. So at first look. I felt I was in the mourning room. Takes some getting used to , but never got used to it. It had a light scent to the room that went away in few mins. The bed was comfortable but the crazy pillows were to soft. I needed 4 of them to even feel like I was laying on one. I'm a firm pillow guy. The bathroom exhaust fan didn't work and around the fan was the worse plaster, paint job ever. Peelings of paint throughout the bathroom. The tub water did not down faster then the shower water. So your ferry end up in the dirty water The pool area was the safe zone. No complaints about that. The privately owns lounge looks out to the pool. So you can drink while the kids swim. Because it was a quick get away and a last min booking where all cancellations are non refundable. Apparently they let people have parties in the pool area until 2 AM with their music blasting. Very upsetting since we were there on a school trip and already had limited time to sleep. If you have no problem with loud sounds right outside your room then this is the place for you. The breakfast was subpar at best and the stairs had a strange funk to it. We are staying here as part of a week-long school trip with a group of 34 people, including 16 children. Check in night one: I was looking forward to a nice hot bath, until I saw the disgusting tub. By disgusting tub, I don't just mean the cracked, peeling surface of it. I mean hairs in the tub. I get that this is not a 5-star resort, but it doesn't take that to clean thoroughly. I took a shower instead so nothing but my feet had to touch any surface of that nastiness. Tonight, my daughter noticed that there was only one towel left (with both of us needing to shower) even though we had been hanging the up so housekeeping would leave them (that's what their sign says to do). Instead of doing so, they took them and didn't bother to replace them, leaving one towel. When I called the front desk, I was told to "next time, put up your do not disturb sign." Well, that makes no sense, because then my room would be be cleaned at all. Second, that doesn't help tonight when I need more towels, and I said this to her. She was prompt about being me extras. Currently (at almost 11:30 pm) there is a party going on in the dining room, which is directly adjacent to my window. A party complete with loud music, laughing and yelling. I tried to wait it out but finally called the front desk about 15 minutes ago to complain. We have 16 children getting up at 6:30 tomorrow morning and this is not okay. I was told the party was scheduled to end at midnight but of o was bothered, it could be shut down now. I said yes, it's bothering me a lot, and I was told it would be shut down now. Well almost 20 minutes later, nothing has changed. And keeping it mind the front desk is extremely close to the dining hall, plenty of time has gone by to make it happen. well let's start with the first room they gave me!! It smelled so bad, like Mildew they tried to cover up with bad smelling deodorant. The second room was ok. Then on the website it said food was provided in the morning. I called down to ask and they said they didn't have that and have to update their website. I book hotel because of certain amenities, if u have it on your website then I expect for it to be there. I understand that it was a pandemic but the restrictions has been lifted and things are back to normal so to still rely on that as an excuse is just bad business.!!! The Front desk clerk just seem to be there to be rude and collect a check!! *3.5 Star Hotel* Lots of Pros and Cons to staying here. For those seeking budget friendly travels this hotel has good value with plenty of on site parking. The downside is the location and being 13 miles away from Washington DC, however the hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to the Greenbelt Metro station. The rooms seem to be in limbo, meaning most have been upgraded but some are not and neither were the individual floors, some were nice others are dated with old carpeting, fixtures, etc. There is a restaurant and bar that has plenty of seating, pool tables, and daily specials. Monday is half off all burgers however I seemed to have been charged the full price. Also they have a great hot beverage machine in the lobby that seemed to be out of service every other day. Overall there is good value here, just remember it's a good distance away from Washington DC. read more

Wanted to update my review after a few more stays here. One of the times, I was checked in by a man, who seems like the manager. He was extremely nice & went out of his way to make me feel welcome as a Platinum Member. After asking if I preferred points or a welcome bag, I chose the points, but he gave met the water & granola anyway. I thought that was nice. But the next time I checked in, a woman checked me in & I got nothin'. Not even a stinkin' bottle of water. I feel like consistency is key when you're staying in hotels, so this is something they could work on. My rooms however, have been nice every time. Not located too far from FedEx Field, this place was an affordable option. We drove in from out of town and arrived 2.5 hrs ahead of check in. Anxious to use the restroom and stretch our legs, we asked if we could check in early. I understand when the room isn't ready, but I was pretty annoyed that the receptionist never even checked. She didn't even to pretend to look in the computer. Someone was standing next to her and nudging her to say no. Pretty rude. The hotel was clean and roomy for the DC area, but it was a solid 15 min trip to the field and 15 min to DC, so I'm not sure location-wise this was the best choice for us. The other thing I should mention is that there is a restaurant/bar downstairs with karaoke on Saturday night. Around 2am when the bar closed, it was super noisy. Based on how the hotel is kind of isolated, it's cool they have a bar, but it was really loud for the guests like us that were sleeping at 2am. read more

I stayed here last weekend with my BF. Just a short weekend get-a-way and change of environment. The room was sorta clean, found a bug in the bed. Not a bedbug but a "bug". The bathroom are on the small side, the tub is very narrow. They need to upgrade, redo their bathrooms. I have seen much nicer at other HI. They have a bar on the main level with Karaoke on Friday nights. Its very interesting to see, some good entertainment though. Pool tables and several TV for sport watching. All in all a FUN place. They have a breakfast buffet for $10, not bad for the price, good variety of food. The food at the bar on Friday and Saturdays are pretty good for hotel food. The staff and reception desk employees are very very nice. Except for that bug thing, we had a nice time. This was our second time here, no bugs the first time. I only saw one, which was very small flying type creature. My BF promptly scooped it up with a tissue. Don't let that deter you from staying here. Believe me, I am very bug phobic but I managed to put it out of my mind. And yes, I would return. read more

Very dirty and clearly not taking COVID-19 seriously (seriously - no hand sanitizer in the lobby? Thank goodness we brought tons). Our bathroom had random hair all over the floor. Some short, some long, all clearly from multiple people. We're not talking one lone hair. I counted - there were nine hairs on the tiny floor in different spots. I went to use a hand towel after washing my hands and SOME RANDOM STRANGER'S LONG HAIR WAS INSIDE THE TOWEL. There were also a couple hairs in the shower. Seriously. This place is gross. The sitting area in the lobby was dirty, too - from a couple feet away I could see the little table was coated with grime probably from drinks that people had set down throughout the day. One of the chairs had a bunch of crumbs all over it. If you value your health and do not like a bathroom with random gross hair all over the place, including inside of your hand towels, stay away. Also, don't touch anything in the lobby or if you do just lather yourself with hand sanitizer as soon as you get to your dirty room. Oh, and in our first room the fridge was broken, so we had to switch rooms since we had food with us. If you scroll down a few reviews you'll see that other people have encountered various appliance issues, so this was not a one-time issue; instead, the hotel obviously does not repair appliances. The fridge was unplugged, telling me that management was aware of the issue and rather than fixing the fridge they merely unplugged it. I am far more concerned with the dirtiness than appliances, but still. Finally, the internet doesn't work very well. It's slow and cuts out a lot. We were here for work reasons, and had a difficult time trying to conduct work or send late-night emails because the internet was so terrible. read more

I was booked for a single night's stay at under $80/night. You get what they pay for. Arrival to the hotel was complicated by a parking lot with minimal to no lighting at all. I didn't feel safe there and tried to gather my belongings and make it to the entrance as soon as possible. The front desk staffer was pleasant enough, and quick with my keys. I love that, because by the looks of the place, I have no desire to listen to a spiel about food from a restaurant I won't eat at, or a gym I won't use. Colleagues advised me there was only one single treadmill in the entire gym. The gym was isolated and scary for our female travelers. This hotel shows its age by the condition of their elevators. The buttons had gold trim around them, something I haven't seen on a new elevator since the 80s. You exited the elevator to a hallway that is dimly lit. Very depressing. Looking down at the hallway carpeting, it's dated, worn and stained. The room is not much different. The guest room didn't have a single light on when entering the room. So prepare the mobile phone flashlight, or be ready to trip over yourself just looking for a light switch. The main room light switch is actually hidden in the closet that lacks a door. All of the lamps in the room had very low wattage bulbs that barely give you enough reading light. The bedding was decent, but felt dirty. Inside the bathroom it was dusty and filthy. All of the sockets and switch plates were covered in dust. One thing a hotel maintenance department can do to mitigate that is occasionally pop the plates off and blow away the dust with compressed air. Same goes for the bathroom vent--dusty, nasty, looked as if something was growing in it. The hotel could easily mitigate this danger by calling a duct cleaning company and cleaning every guest room. The shower hot water indicator was reversed. A danger in that someone could scald their hand or body in the shower. Worst part about the bathroom was the small circular toilet bowl. Most hotels have upgraded or improved to elongated toilet bowls. This is very very uncomfortable for any male guest that is say older than 10 years old. The hotel's WiFi internet connection was so horrific that you couldn't even view simple YouTube videos. read more

I asked for a quiet room and they gave me one facing the Beltway and right above the bar. Even 6 floors up the music was insanely loud. Went to switch rooms at 1:30am and they were on last call. Next morning no less than 2 rooms on my half of the floor had loud fights going on inside. I agree, this place has gone downhill and is basically a nightclub now. I suspect there is a reason a Greenbelt police car is parked out front 24/7. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is that they made switching my room the next day easy and the shower was good. read more

No complaints! I was surprised for what we got being that it was the Holiday Inn. The room was really comfortable, the service was great, and is in a good area. It kind of shares space with Martin's Crosswinds(http://www.yelp.com/biz/martins-crosswinds-greenbelt), an establishment where people tend to throw formal events at. There are several restaurants and places to shop near by and it is very close to highways 295 and 495 which will take you pretty much anywhere you want to go in the Baltimore/DC regions. read more

Had to go to front desk every time we needed to get into our room. Lightbulbs missing from lamps (and never replaced after multiple requests). Housekeeping is not available 24/7 so we could not get supplies for our room after 5pm. Phone was unplugged. Long lines at front desk because they were understaffed. Your standard Holiday Inn. I took off 1 star because the room felt a little 'old' and outdated. Other than that, it's everything you'd expect. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. Room service was quick and easy. Kids eat free but only when eating in the restaurant. read more

When I first arrived for check in I was 3 hours early and allowed to check in early I was extremely appreciative because it was a terrible thunderstorm outside. However the room looked nothing like it did online and was far from clean... We went out for a night on the town & came back and wanted to have a few drinks. The glasses provided by the hotel in our room were extremely filthy! No disrespect to the word filthy. The bathroom toilet was not clean & neither was the table in the room. Seeing as though we were rarely in the room the poor quality of the room did not ruin our trip. I overheard people at the front desk arguing with customers on 3 occasions during our 2 day stay (they treated me fine). I wouldn't stay here again & would only recommend it to relatives I don't like. read more

I was here for a couple weeks and was very happy that they accepted my Entertainment card. The rates at this hotel are lower than its competitors yet the accommodations are still quite suitable for business travel purposes. Front desk was very competent. The few times I let housekeeping tidy up the room I was impressed in how they chose which things to reorganize and which to leave alone. For example, they didn't replace the extra pillows I discarded when they made the bed. I believe they remodeled a few years ago, so most things were in good shape. At night, I generally could not hear any of the other guests. What is most lacking at this hotel is the restaurant/bar. My chicken burger was dry and burned. Fries overly salted. Check was not picked up for 15 minutes. The bar is just full of classless testosterone pumped dudes watching sports which might be typical of most hotels, but the cops had to be called when a few guys got drunk and/or belligerent. The area smelled like vomit also. I have more fun watching tv and drinking in my room. By the way, the internet was very slow most nights but fast enough for email. The access points were down for a few nights of my two week stay. read more
