Second time staying at a CitizenM hotel, my first was CitizenM NOMA, and I like this location better. It's a bit more spacious to me and the interior layout and location is better. They are both a very short walk from the subway and walkable, it was a breeze walking to the wharf from here. I love these hotels, I'm very tech savvy, a minimalist, and love unique artsy places, so if you fall into that category you'll enjoy this hotel. There are many great places in the hotel to work and connect with friends, a nice bar on the lower level and rooftop restaurant/bar. For the size you get everything, a View, fridge, safe, mood lighting. Some "nicer" hotels don't even provide a fridge js. The other feature I really love, is the GYM!! They have a great gym it's bigger than you think, free weight and cardio machines, the good ones! And now I get Bonvoy points for my stay, yep I'll keep coming back.

Cool wall in the hotel restaurant.

99.9% of the staff is amazing. Completely amazing !! Going the extra mile and friendly and kind. They have a beautiful camaraderie with each other. So fun to interact with them! The gal who does the lunch time bar keeping keeps her nose in the air and is clearly more important than anyone else on the planet. And it's important that everyone else knows they are beneath her. She will tidy the bar and straighten all the bottles and then go check the cabinets and be silent or snippy when a customer deigns ask for something. She brings the whole place down. She is the weakest link and I hope she either gets an attitude adjustment that sticks or she gets told to get a different job somewhere else where she doesn't interact with the public. The room is clean and comfy. The bed is comfy. The pillows are great. The color lights in the shower are fun. There is no hot water at the sink, but ample hot water in the shower. There is a lot of fun all over inside this hotel. I love the carpet map of DC outside the elevators too. :) And the fun dance videos in the elevator. That's fun too! We have enjoyed the foods we have gotten from the menu in the main level restaurant, I love the water dispenser for refilling our bottles. And the sushi is so good too! We are having a good trip here and look forward to future trips too!

CitizenM hotels are more or less all a copy/paste of one another. I stayed at the Boston North Station hotel a few years back and the room was almost exactly the same. Not bad, but not unique from eachother. The benefit of the hotels being the same is that everything is pretty easy to navigate. Check-In/Out is done on a kiosk and everything in the room can be controlled via iPad. The overall layout of the room is maximized to efficiently fit everything in as small of a footprint as possible - bed with storage and safe underneath, desk & chair, extra bench for seating, toilet & shower, sink & mirror, cooling drawer for beverages, and a closet area to hang clothing. As a solo traveler staying for a short trip, I don't mind the set up, there is the perfect amount of space to spread out for just one, but I have reservations about accommodating a couple because someone would have to crawl across the other to get out of bed in the morning and I'm sure you can hear all bathroom noises through the glass partition. Things I particularly like about the room are probably the more "gimmicky" stuff like the cute plush in the room, TV personalized with your name on the home screen, and being able to adjust the colored lighting. The bed also feels huge and the blackout curtains are everything! Overall my stay went smoothly and I particularly appreciated the presence of security in the late evenings. I'll definitely consider a CitizenM hotel again for more short trips.

They need a coffee pot in those bedrooms and a microwave because and they need to stay open longer than 11 o'clock at the bar we came in. We flew in from the West Coast expecting a five star hotel. The rooms are small as dorm rooms and there's nowhere for anyone to move around if you're too grown adults and plus size people cannot fit in those rooms.

My first time ever staying at a CitizenM, and it was both interesting and eye-opening. Think of a CitizenM hotel like a cruise ship. The priority are the destinations, but the ship offers nice amenities as well. The rooms are small and narrow, much like on a ship. An iPad controls everything from the AC to the ambiance and TV. The shower has frosted glass. The window is HUGE. The bed is even bigger. The location is very close to "The Mall" area of Washington DC. The staff (ambassadors) were so kind and helpful. And our room was totally clean. The only negative I had with the room is that it was set to 64 and felt closer to 75. It did get cold at night, but in the middle of the day it struggled to cool down. That being said, for the price and offerings, we were quite impressed with CitizenM and will stay at another in the future.

Can never go wrong with Citizens M. Positioned perfectly a half a block away from the train station. 11 minutes away from DCA by train. And 10mins away from city center. Definitely my first choice when coming to DC.

CitizenM was a very hip hotel that we stayed for a few days in Washington D.C. It was ideally located where you could walk to the nearby Metro station around the block and about a 15-minute walk to the Wharf. The interior design of the hotel was very hip with a Gotham feel straight out of the Dark Knight comics almost from the 1980s. From the rooftop cocktail bar with gorgeous views of the U.S. Capitol to the lobby bar and library, the hotel is a good place to start your day, have an evening drink, or a nightcap. Our room was compact but had a lot of amenities that I enjoyed immensely from their infotainment tablet that allowed you to change the color of the lights based on the mood settings and set up different music for if you're settling down to go to sleep or waking up. The tablet operates everything in the room. I enjoyed strategically opening up the privacy and blackout blinds in the morning and then closing in the evening. I really liked the shape and design of the standing shower and toilet. It was glass-walled and there was a curtain partition should you want privacy. To access the shower, you first opened the glass door that led to where the toilet was located before opening another glass door that led you into the shower. The water pressure was great. The only two complaints I have come from trying to operate the elevator with the room key card and how the bed was positioned in our room. It took me until the third day I was staying at the hotel to figure out where to position the key card over the scanner in the elevator so I could select the floor we wanted to go up without being stalled on the lobby. Apparently, we were just some of the guests who had difficulties using their key cards for the elevator. The hotel should provide visual instructions on where to position the card and how long before pushing the appropriate floor button, as that may help. Granted you may still have people who can't do it, but every little helps. While the bed was comfortable, because it was positioned wall to wall in the room next to the window, depending on who was closest to the window would need to crawl practically on top of the other person if they needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Don't get me wrong, the hotel did a great job utilizing the space within our hotel room but that is one challenge I didn't anticipate when we did stay there. But overall, the hotel stay was solid, and would stay there again the next time we are in D.C., especially, if we see more shows at the Anthem in the Wharf.

3.5/5 Pros -Affordable -Close to National Mall, and most other tourist sites -Clean room -Microwave in downstairs bar Cons - Morning of departure around 6:15am a mentally unstable lady was wandering the lobby harassing guests no employees were in site -Shower did not get hot -Pillows were mediocre -No sheet just a very thick comforter that will make you sweat in your sleep -Rooftop bar closed at 9pm on a Saturday even though its advertised as 24/7 -Room had some wear and tear, a panel from the bed came off (see photo) -Not many snack/food/drink options small 200ml coke is $4

They call this "ironing heaven." It's not heaven. It's a creepy communal ironing room with a disgusting ironing board.

The front desk staff either needs to be trained or fired. The afternoon and evening crew spend more time hiding out on the sofas in the side room while playing on their phones than they do paying attention to and interacting with their customers. When you do get their attention, they continue to be lazy, rude, uninterested in customer service and demonstrate zero recognition of the value of their customers, nor do they seem to understand that the customers are the purpose of their jobs. This place is definitely not for the claustrophobic. The rooms are uncomfortably tiny. Every move you make requires strategy, so you don't bang into the walls, fixtures and windows. The bathroom is like using a toilet and showering in the same closet. We picked this place based on price, but we'll choose a real hotel for adults in the future, not a painfully cheeky, wanna be hipster, glorified dorm room. The only reason I didn't give this hotel one star is that the team managing the meeting spaces, while not what I'd call friendly, were at least efficient and moderately generous. Yes, it is a pretty space, conveniently located. But a positive hotel experience is more than decor and attitude.

The brick exterior coupled with the large white-walled interior provided the perfect "blank canvas" to backdrop our event. We hosted nearly 100 people and had plenty of room for a live band and bar. The reason this review earned three stars was because of venue management. An important aspect of North Hall is that they will not let you do any setup prior to the event unless you pay per hour. As an example: our event started at 5pm and we had to pay 500$ more to start setup at 3pm. The real issue arose when we were informed that we could not leave anything in a closet or kitchen in order to make the "day-of" prep easier. Management allowed absolutely nothing from entering or remaining in the space despite there being no event prior to our reception. On a positive note, the two hour setup window provided a testament to how amazing our vendors were; they created a beautiful space with no help from North Hall. The management induced plenty of undue stress by being unclear of what permits were needed for the event. They went on to remind us with little time to prepare. This issue manifested itself one week prior to our wedding day, where our wedding coordinator, my wife, and myself scrambled to get permits for food, alcohol, etc. Overall, North Hall is truly lovely, but future customers should be aware that this venue is fortified by the bureaucracy of Washington D.C. Much like your local trip to the DMV, illogical policies and the lack of regard for the individual reign supreme. Weddings are stressful and emotional, no one should have to deal with the inefficiencies of government and the shortcomings of bureaucrats on their special day.

We chose the North Hall because of the brick exterior, urban feel and large space -- big enough for 200 people. Weddings can be expensive and after an exhausted search we found that the North Hall was the best option. We are so glad we chose to host our wedding reception here! I would recommend this place for any business or social function. A few side notes: The parking was not a problem and the staff was extremely helpful. The bill is in some what of an a la cart format so try to get ALL the fees up front. Be sure to stick to the allotted timeframe so you don't have extra rental hour fees. Go with the bulb lighting! Unfortunately, the event failed to deliver on what was promised. The problems started immediately. The gates opened very late, creating unnecessary delays. The VIP area had no air conditioning, making the wait extremely uncomfortable. We then waited almost three hours before Noora even arrived. When it was finally time for the advertised meet-and-greet, VIP guests were kept standing in line for over an hour. To make matters worse, it appeared that several people without VIP wristbands or tickets were allowed through ahead of paying guests. After all that waiting, security began shouting "Move! Move! No photos!" and rushed everyone through. The promised photo opportunity never happened, and there was no meaningful meet-and-greet experience at all. Afterward, we were pushed back onto the main floor for the performance. Noora was on stage for less than 30 minutes, and the stage itself was crowded with security staff and other people, making it difficult to even see her. Instead of enjoying the show, we spent most of the time looking at the backs of security personnel. For the amount of money charged for VIP tickets, the organization, communication, and overall experience were simply unacceptable. The event felt chaotic, and poorly managed. The VIP package did not provide the experience that was advertised, and I left feeling completely disappointed. I was genuinely surprised to see an international artist like Noora Fatehi associated with such a disorganized event. My issue is not with the artist herself, but with the event organizers, who failed to deliver the premium experience they sold to their customers. I would not attend another event organized by this company, nor would I recommend paying for any VIP package based on my experience.

Everything else is just okay. Bed was comfortable though and staff were friendly and tried to be serviceable. Like the accent lighting in room. Tiny rooms tiny bathroom with only 1 sink. Toilet closet is also small and claustrophobic. Wallpaper in hallways by elevator coming apart. When we got to our room there was bug crawling on our ceiling above the bed; took a while for cleaning ladies to come get it and they screamed and giggled as they tried to kill it. There was also one stuck on ceiling looked like a dead crushed gnat she tried for 3 seconds to get it off with her rolling tool and couldn't and left it there. Floor had crumbs and walls had food and makeup stains. Just not luxurious at all. I also do not recommend from a FHR standpoint. We were unable to get in our room early as the advertised noon checkin. I even asked if anything other than our upgraded room was available to get in room sooner and was told no. We arrived at 130 and didn't get in until 345ish. Before getting our room keys in addition to the original 200.00 incidental charge at check in, they charged my card for incidentals multiple times while we waited for the room to be ready and no one could explain why. I asked for manager and he immediately reversed the additional over 400.00 in overages. My card was charged again after that for something else so please watch your cards if staying here. Included with Amex FHR program, you do get 70.00 towards breakfast and a 100.00 credit and I hope there is no confusion at check out. It seems there may be so I am skeptical to use it. Also bathrooms on first floor at night were disgusting not clean at all poop in toilets tissue all over stall floors and ceiling was leaking had a bucket of water in middle of bathroom by sinks.
