I'm a business traveler. Stay in IHG properties a lot. This one does not measure up. Not their fault - but get a room on the road side of the hotel. The rail line will drive you nuts... 3 am and the locomotive blows his whistle Final straw was hot water - as in, they did not have any. A week ago I was here, came back from dinner and there was no hot water. Had been told that a pipe was leaking and it would be fixed that night. At 9pm, was told it would be the next day - that doesn't work for me. If I didn't need a hot shower I'd sleep in my freaking car! They moved me men to door to the budget Candlewood suites. I woke up this morning and no hot water. It was lukewarm yesterday but cold this morning. I could go on about lack of housekeeping, ice cold coffee, or how the cleaning staff all quit without notice - likely a management problem??? - Ownership clearly isn't involved in solving issues I'd steer clear of here read more

We arrived on Sunday and received a warm welcome from Ashley! We were direct-bill due to work travel and she advised that we were not booked appropriately but she fixed it and got us checked-in very quickly! She even informed us that due to the King bed request we would be on different floors to accommodate what we booked. She made check-in seamless. On Tuesday we didn't have hot water. Mr.Gregory did his best to keep us informed and even gave us complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience. If you're a ladybug lover stay here! We met Damonte on Wednesday the third night of our stay. Damonte went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great stay! The lobby smelled funny and musty. Our reservation said 2 bedrooms but when we got there they told us the living room with a sofa bed was a "bedroom". There were no pillows or linens for the sofa bed. After waiting 30 minutes I had to go looking in the maid's closet. I found someone and she kindly came and made the sofa bed up. However, the pillows smelled like old broccoli so we couldn't use them. I tried filing a case with Holiday Inn but no one has contacted me. I would not stay here ever again. read more

I nearly gave it five stars, but for one thing. I wish I could give it 4.5. The food was good-not the omelets, but the rest of the breakfast was. The coffee was good. All room appointments were good, clean. The desk seemed under staffed, as the 4 PM friendly check-in clerk was there in the morning when I checked out...maybe hard to hire enough people. Holiday Inn starts with a higher expectation. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was that the only restaurant I could walk to was a very nice place. The food was good, even better than I wanted. I could order nothing for less than $11, and I got it, a Caesar salad. The bartender gave me the full treatment of bread, three forks, just too much. Not what I wanted. I ordered a glass of the house Chardonnay, I felt I had to. $14. So, instead of a $5 hamburger, I spent $30 with tip. I had no alternative unless I wanted to drive, and I didn't. Checked in at midnight...first room smelled like urine. Female front desk employee was very nice and gave us their biggest room as an upgrade but, unbeknownst to me, the entire hotel is along a set of train tracks. Although the train does not blow its horn, the noise and vibration of it passing caused us to get next to no sleep...$160 for nothing. Jacuzzi tub did not work but, the shower was a decent size. Also, the king beds were very squishy / springy if you need stiff support and be careful with the shower water because it's extremely hot and difficult to regulate. Supposed newer hotel, blow dryer made a horrible noise, then started sparking and smoking with burnt hair smell. Wife attempted to make microwave popcorn, 8 minutes later got a partially popped bag. Rooms were nice, but laminate floor glue was all over floor. Won't be returning to this location. Comfortable, clean place for a nights stay! We were driving back from Florida and decided to stop outside of Atlanta and found this Holiday Inn. The reviews on hotels.com were good and the rate was better. We had a room with two queen beds that was spacious and clean. There was a stain on the wall but that's the only one I noticed. The lobby is impressive and has a restaurant and bar attached. We saw the hotel had a pool and went to check it out. We thought it looked nice but upon further inspection it was quite dirty and small- only three feet deep. The beds were comfy and plenty of places nearby to eat and easy to find off the highway. read more

We got two rooms.. we enter one and it SMELLS BAD! Like old wet towels and has visible stains all over The furniture and the bedding ..we get to the other and it has not been cleaned at all. Dirty sheets dirty everything.. basically all the rooms are Gross old and not worth the money. The only good thing was the lady at the front desk who had to clean our room. This hotel reminds me of the movie money pit. One thing after goes wrong. The walls are paper thin easily disturbing your neighbors. The plunger was given to me with raw sewage on. There is a curfew at this hotel you cannot watch TV or have a normal conversation after 11pm. Stafford too busy to focus on quality customer service . There are signs up to tell you to immediately return the luggage. Management is clearly missing the culture of Holiday inn. read more

I came in to the restaurant at 545 pm and was basically ignored for ten minutes until I noticed the bartender close by and asked if the restaurant was open...oh yes I was trying to get air out of the keg was the reason....I actually saw and heard her converse with the patrons at the bar while I was ignored. I ordered a beer and the pesto chicken pasta. Needless to say it took another ten minutes for my beer to arrive..."Finally I got many kegs fixed" she said without my beer in hand...a couple of minutes later my beer was delivered. Never had a Caesar salad without dressing but that's how this salad was prepared..actually was alright did not need the extra calories. When the pasta arrived it was barely room temp. I managed to get the bartenders attention and informed her...She took it back and apologized saying she was not aware since she did not bring it to my table. But it would be fixed right away. When my pasta dish was returned the first bite was hot but the rest was just as it left my table....barely room temp. I drove all day had not energy to go out so I accepted my fate to eat this unappealing pasta, but would warm fellow Yelpers....Even if your tired muster energy and go out for a good meal. If you stay here be sure to ask for a room in the front of the building. My boyfriend and I stayed here and were put in a room on the back side, within the first 15 minutes 2 trains had passed by! We were switched to a room on the other side no problem though, a 2 queen room instead of king, but it worked fine. The rooms were very nice, the bed was super comfortable, bigger pillows would have been nice, but they were okay. The bathroom was amazing, but the sink was really high, not good if you have kids. I'm 5'5" and the sink ended maybe 5 inches above my belly button, it made it hard to wash my face at night. The staff wasn't the most welcoming, they weren't rude, but it would have been nice to at a least get a smile from them. We didn't have breakfast here, it wasn't included but was only $3.99 all you can eat. The coffee machine was broken when we stayed (the guy working there was nice and told us before though). There was an okay selection: sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, cereal, and bagels/toast, but waffles, pancakes, or french toast would have been nice to see and would have been breakfast there more appealing to me. read more

This hotel is right next to the railroad tracks and you hear the trains very loudly. If I'd known I'd have stayed somewhere else. I don't stay in Holiday Inn often. I see nothing special about here and I guess I remember why I dont frequent this brand. We have a local friend who found out we were staying here and told us to move because she'd had guests who did not like the hotel. We already had reservations so didn't move. I assumed they'd have a free breakfast but they don't. That's holiday Inn Express. My bad for not knowing the difference. Why they built next to the railroad tracks is beyond me. We are on a drive from Michigan to Florida and drove through the night 12 hours to avoid traffic. About 2 hours before arriving at the holiday inn we called and asked if they would have a room that we could check into around 6 am and leave around their late checkout time at 1 pm but still pay for an entire night. The lady on the phone assured us that it would be ok. Apon arriving at the holiday inn we explained the situation to the gentleman at the front desk and he immediately took the position that no hotel does that or hotels don't work like that, entirely dismissing us and making our group feel stupid. He said there was nothing he could do for us and when asked if he knew any of the other hotels in the area would maybe make the exception he told us no. I stayed at this Holiday Inn for one night, en route driving from Memphis to Orlando Florida. The rate for two queen beds was really good online, and I paid an extra $10 for breakfast to be included. Check-in was smooth and quick but they did forget to give us our breakfast voucher until I reminded them of the fact. Our room was quite spacious and it was cool that it had both a fridge and a microwave! Also it was in a very quiet location - no noise from the interstate. However we had dinner in the room and that was a bit difficult as it was a small desk table with only one chair and so my brother had to sit on the bed. Also the wifi was terribly slow - it took forever to load, internet games kept timing out and very bad refresh rate. I thought the beds were comfy but there was a really awkwardly high sink in the bathroom which was cumbersome to use. Plus the wall between the bathroom and room was really really thin - whenever someone would go to use the loo, you could hear the water loud and clear. Also in the morning, while the shower pressure was good, there was no hot water - when I checked out, mentioned this to the front desk and was told apparently a lot of rooms on the 4th floor had the same issue. For breakfast, I thought it was great service but between my brother and I, we got inconsistent information - I asked and got my eggs cooked to order but my brother was told that wasn't an option. I also thought the biscuits and gravy were really tasty, plus the potatoes were great too. When I told my hostess I planned to drink tea, I got a hot water carafe and a tea basket on my table with options such as Earl Gray and English Breakfast as well as Tazo. The two things that really pleased me here was that my hot water carafe didn't have a coffee aftertaste, which I have encountered in lots of hotels previously. The second thing was the variety of teas in the basket too was heaps better compared to some hotels were I have just the option of a generic tea bag. This is a nice hotel located on a cul de sac full of hotels. It still feels new and has an updated, sleek and modern design, especially in the rooms. Check in was a breeze with a friendly clerk. After reading reviews that mentioned train noise, I asked for a room on the front side. I was told there were none available since the hotel was sold out. The clerk mentioned I was on the 4th floor so it would be less of an issue, and honestly the frequent trains didn't really bother us. The clerk smiled and said next time I should call a few days before my arrival and request a room facing the street and they could accommodate me. The room was spacious and included a raised king bed that I found super comfortable, with a nice quality mattress. They really scrimped on the size of the pillows, though, which were small, with a couple of them almost decorative size. It was one thing I didn't like about the room. The floors were made of some type of material that resembled cork or bamboo. Personally, I prefer the warmth of carpet, but I suspect the material is good for wear and tear and maintenance. One nice touch I wasn't expecting was a small counter area with cupboards, coffee maker, microwave and a small refrigerator. It would be especially convenient if staying for more than one night. The bathroom was nice but the sink, while very trendy and modern, is not functional. The sides are too high and the stopper, in the middle of the sink, causes water to splatter out of the sink and onto your shirt. Take care when turning the water on or you'll get doused. There was also a work desk, great for using the free wireless internet service. Surprisingly there was not a waste can in the room. And the one in the bathroom was a small plastic can that look liked it came from WalMart and didn't match the color scheme too well. It certainly wasn't in keeping with the rest of the décor. Just something I noted but it didn't really affect the quality of our stay. One nice security touch is the inability to board the elevator without inserting a room key. However, I was surprised there wasn't a room safe for locking up wallets, cameras or laptops. I'm used to that in almost any hotel I book. All-in-all the Holiday Inn North Macon won't disappoint, although I didn't think it was a great value, even with a discounted rate from an internet travel site. read more

I was surprised at how great of an impression this hotel made on me. It started when I walked in the lobby and it had a modern look. It has an indoor pool, restaurant and bar. The room was clean and bathroom a decent size. I will be staying again next time I'm in the area. read more

The staff at this hotel were friendly, when you could find them. On more than one occasion on our three night stay, we found the front desk to be vacant and ended up asking someone in the restaurant if anyone was around. But like I said, when dealing with the employees, they were always pleasant. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. No problem with the water pressure that's for sure. The sink turns into a shower if you're not careful and the shower feels like it's just about ready to take your skin off. We annoyingly had to ask for more towels on two occasions. We were in a suite with two adults and two kids and one day there was only one towel placed in the bathroom by housekeeping. The restaurant has your typical hotel fare. The nicest employees work there, especially Diana who was so helpful after my son dropped and broke a plate. One last thing to be aware of is the hotel is directly adjacent to some freight railroad tracks and the trains come through pretty regularly. I kinda felt like Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny but as least the room doesn't shake! I'd probably stay here again if the price was right but not before checking other places out. read more

AUDREY was incredibly rude right off the bat. Never encountered her before and she was so disrespectful to us....I just don't understand. I've never been so disrespected before, even at a McDonalds or on the streets somewhere. She texted the whole time, never once looked up from her phone. She rolled her eyes when we said 'thank you' for opening the door after she locked us out when we stepped outside for a second. She CLEARLY saw us at the door and took her sweet sweet sweet time walking over/texting on her phone to open the door for us. Does she know she works in hospitality or has a job at all? I'm completly bewildered at this experience...I'm writing a review in hopes her managers will see this, but I honestly don't even have the words to describe her behavior. I will 100% be speaking with a manager but if you ever stay here and she's working, you're better off staying somewhere else. She ruined a perfectly nice evening for us. Also, the rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are dirty, and the hallways smell awful FYI. The bed and bathroom sink are so tall unless you are over 6 feet tall. Be careful when you turn the sink on because it shoots water everywhere, it got my whole dress wet when I went to wash my hands. This place is an absolute mess.....do NOT be fooled by the pictures. The over all experience was good, the ladies at the front desk greeted me and my coworker with a smile, we were checking in for an overnight stay for training. Reviews stated that breakfast was not included however we found out the with government stay it was. You use your room key to use the elevator which I thought was nice, room was nice. However the bathroom since was a little high lol felt like a little kid brushing my teeth. At night you could hear the people above me moving around so that kept me up, not much they could do about the trains at night so that didn't help either with a good night sleep . So sleeping was not good. Check out was nice and the breakfast was good. The ladies who waited on me for breakfast were very nice and polite. This hotel was the nicest Holiday Inn I've ever seen. The exterior, lobby, and rooms were beautifully decorated. The bathroom in my room featured a large, walk-in shower (no tub, which was okay with me). Hot breakfast was served downstairs for about $4. Not bad. The hotel had plenty of parking and was located pretty conveniently, if you're visiting Macon by car. As much as I enjoyed this hotel, I have to warn you: BEWARE, there is a freight train that passes extremely close to the hotel. This thing passed at least six times between 9 pm and 8 am, making sleep a little challenging. I'd try to request a room on the opposite side from the train if I were coming back! read more

This hotel is nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. Food is nothing special, just frozen stuff heated up, but tolerable. All you can drink happy hour from 5-6pm for $5.99 is fun, and half price appetizers from 6-7pm is well-timed and a good buy. The reason I am giving this hotel 5 stars is because the rooms floors are wood laminate and the bedding I'm pretty sure is not down! I am allergic to down, and even if the comforter and/or the pillows are removed, I can still have an allergic reaction to the down. The down will still remain in the bedding and especially the carpet. I slept peacefully and did not wake up congested or with puffy eyes. My first question was received as an irritation. My second request was also hurry up and wait your turn. I am appalled that such an unprofessional person would be in charge of the very desk where all customers are greeted and received. I myself have done this Job and currently work in customer service with over 21yrs experience. ..this lady has got to be redirected to a job where smiling is not required and helping people in crisis is not an irritation. .Bad for business bad for customers and bad for Holiday Inn! This hotel is not very good at all!! The bed sheets were clearly not clean. The comforter was stained and dirty. Why they would have white comforters is beyond me. The restaurant prints on a printer for their menu that you can't even read. Not sure why they don't spend the $100 so their customers can order. The sink in the bathroom makes so much noise I felt bad for my neighbors. On day two of my stay I got no new clean towels. I can't speak to the quality of the property but STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL if you're big on service like me. I booked a reservation for this hotel back in August to attend a conference last week. My check-in date was November 6th but I didn't think I would make it so I called the hotel to request they hold my room because I probably wouldn't check in until the 7th. As I suspected, I didn't arrive until the morning of the 7th. Customer service was non-existent from the time I entered the hotel until the time I left. Upon arriving, the front desk person, Sonja Billingslea, did not greet me. She simply looked at me as if I was about to inconvenience her. I said good morning and explained I wanted to check in. After some curt responses from her, she eventually told me I was listed as a no-show and they gave my room away. I explained that I had called to request they hold my room but the front desk person just kept telling me they didn't show that in the system and they didn't have a room for me. I requested to speak to the manager but she refused to come out and speak with me. At one point the front desk person started ignoring me after I asked for contact information for someone at the corporate office since the manager wouldn't come out. When I asked her if she was ignoring me she stated "I've already told you we don't have any rooms and I'm not about to lose my job over this". I literally had to bang on the office door in the hotel lobby for several minutes before the manager, Audrey Grayer, came out. I explained the situation and even let her hear the recording of me calling the hotel about checking in the following day. Her only response was that I didn't speak with anyone at the hotel, there weren't any notes in the system, the hotel was full and I was a no-show. At no point was the manager apologetic for what happened, she never tried to find me other accommodations, she didn't offer to waive the no-show fee...she did absolutely nothing to try to resolve the situation. When I asked for someone to contact at the corporate office, she only gave me the IHG Rewards Club pamphlet. I then asked for her name, the name of the General Manager and the name of the front desk person and I left. I am filing a complaint with the corporate office and I sent an email to the General Manager. read more

This hotel came highly recommended by a friend, so I decided to book it for my next business trip. (Why am I on a business trip in Macon, GA? Good question...) Anyway, it is a very nice hotel! It seems brand new. The lobby is beautiful and very modern. My room is very comfortable - has a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, flat screen TV, and queen beds. It has the wood laminate floors - which i prefer when staying at a hotel because hotel carpet is just gross. The bathroom is has a fancy sink and upgraded fixtures. The hotel has a restaurant and bar which just so happens to have $1 margaritas tonight for us ladies!! My only recommendation - which is not a first hand complaint - but my friend said be sure to request the "non-train" side of the hotel--- apparently there are train tracks that run behind the hotel and they are active. So just ask for this when making your reservation and you should be all set. read more

I went here this weekend for a wedding. The breakfast was good. Many people in the group I was with said the grits were great. The staff was super nice and very attentive! However, my room was on the 3rd floor facing the back of the hotel and a train passed about every 25-30 minutes well into the night. This really prevented sleep until well into the morning. This is a review of the restaurant in the motel. We've eaten there several times in last few months. Our shag group meets on Sunday eves, and on other nights in the past. The restaurant is named Kem's. We chose the place because it had a decent dance floor, and they wanted our business. We didn't expect much in the dining department, and were pleasantly surprised. The food, especially the entree salads, are just great. The bar includes several draft choices. The service is always friendly and flawless. I've never heard any of our party complain about the food or service. Remember: this place is in a virtual sea of restaurants - at least a dozen franchise eateries are in walking distance. My friends and I really think this is the best of the lot. These are one-plate meals, no bread baskets come out. Servings are generous; you'll be glad the bread was missing. Lastly, the bar and menu prices are positively the best deal in the neighborhood. read more

The showers are not that good either and need to be updated. The rooms are spacious and clean. The gym has a lot more than most hotel gyms and is quite nice but there is no AC in that room. I travel frequently because of business and have stayed at many different hotels. It does not take a lot to please me, just a good nights rest and clean rooms. This unfortunately was not the case here. I believe this is the 1st star I have ever given to a hotel in which I have stayed. My room was dirty, the shower had hair and pubic hair in several places, the bedding was filthy, there were even crumbs in the sheets??!! They came and cleaned it and I requested new and clean sheets. They did, but did the bare minimum placing the comforter over the sheets, which were soiled.... :/ The door to the gym was jammed, so no cardio this am. Train tracks are literally 10 feet or loser and it came through about 5:15 this am... I asked the host of she had a guide or restaurant suggestion (local eateries) and her response was no sir, but you are welcome to eat in our restaurant. (It was loud and people were dancing). Breakfast: the eggs were cold, bacon was good, coffee was good, no granola or waffle maker like other locations, plus breakfast was not included in the hotel stay. I'm not bashing Holiday Inn, there is one in Aiken, SC (Holiday Inn & Express) and it is awesome! Better than the Hilton there. great location and luckily it was very close to good restaurants. the restaurant in the hotel for some reason could not serve liquor and was closed at about 7:00 when it was supposed to be open until 10:00. we were also told on the phone that we all would get free breakfast(4) only to find out we only get 2 .the downside is the hotel seams like it was remodeled by a bunch of 12 yr olds. My family and I will never stay in another Holiday Inn again because of our experience with this hotel. This hotel had the worst and most unprofessional service I've ever encountered. The staff was generally not very friendly or helpful during our stay, but it wasn't a big deal. A couple of hours after we checked out, I realized I'd left my iPad in the room, and knew exactly where it was. My husband and I called the hotel that evening and was told that they would check with housekeeping in the morning and call us back. They never did. We finally called them, and were told that housekeeping did not have the iPad. We asked them to please check again, and they said they would call us back the next day. Again, no one called us. I called them for a third time, where the front desk employee said I should "just use Find My iPhone to get it." I explained to him that I had tried to app but the iPad was not connected to the internet. He continued to argue with me about the way the app works and basically implied that I was not telling the truth. I asked to speak with a manager. He connected me to the manager's voicemail and I left a message about the situation and requested he call me back. He never did. After five days, my husband called again and left another message. This was also never returned. At this point, I called Holiday Inn's guest relations to discuss the issue. The representative I talked to was wonderful, and she told me I would hear back from them or the hotel in the next 24-48 hours. Of course, that did not happen either. I understand that leaving the iPad in the room was my fault, but there has been no good faith effort to even talk with us about the issue. We have now been told six different times that someone from the hotel would get back to us, and have yet to receive a single phone call from anyone. read more
