First things first. The minute we turned on the lights, we saw a roach scatter under the dishwasher. Besides that, it was a clean space to sleep. But,,, I have to say it is old, the shower had a hole covered up with putty and the paint was peeling off the walls. It was a clean and tidy place to stay with your pets, it was very nice to have an area to have your dog out back. The bed was cozy and pillows were soft and it was a nice suite with a full fridge which is awesome for us traveling to florida. I hope they do some work on the older parts of the room. read more

This hotel was okay- after a long drive, I didn't really care as long as it was clean. The lady checking in was kind and pleasant. The room was okay- could use some updates and a deep cleaning. Comes equipped with the following: Recliner chair- could use a cleaning Microwave Dishes Cooktop Large fridge/freezer DVD players- apparently you can check DVD's out at the front desk. Larger bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner which is nice opposed to the small little ones. None of the ice machines worked so they were giving out bags of ice. Lots of updates going on, all kinds of construction materials in the lobby- elevator panels being replaced. Most important- pet friendly for a $50.00 fee. Room and hotel were okay- nothing great, but nothing bad either. A/C worked which was important. read more

Not the worst hotel, but could use some updates! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Decent gym. Guest laundry is free. Location was convenient to nearby grocery store & restaurants. My husband and I live out of hotels 3/4 of the year so our stays range from 1 to 4 weeks in each location. I wouldn't have minded a couple nights, but long term I would've preferred one of the newer hotels nearby. The knob on the stove dial broke and our kitchenette sink leaked. The staff was apologetic and accommodating about the situation. Other than that, the hotel just needs a good deep clean. read more

Let me start by saying that I have stayed at this location before while traveling through the area due to its location right off I-75, pet friendly amenities, and late night service hours. This particular time was the most horrible experience I have ever experienced at any hotel. Upon entering the room I noticed a ceiling vent in the wall that connected the living room area to the bedroom. I soon figured out it was to cool/heat the bedroom. That was the first red flag. Second, I noticed my furry staring at the carpet, then jumping as if something scared her. I looked over the area and could not see anything so I ignored the second red flag. I placed my luggage in a chair, as I always do to keep from placing it on the floor, which was filthy and decided to just get a nap so I could continue my drive in a couple of hours. After sitting for a while I decided to go to the kitchen area and get my food from the refrigerator to reheat. When I flipped the lights on, baby roaches were EVERYWHERE!!! Omg!! It was like I had invaded their space and they wanted me gone. Being the OCD person I am, I immediately started to panic and called the front desk. I asked the male who answered the phone did he know the room was roach infested. He said no because they don't usually have a problem with roaches. Being caught off guard with his response, I said so you mean to tell me that no one has reported seeing roaches in this room or any other room in this hotel. He replied not on his shift. I told him that I am OCD and this is not it and that I would not be able to stay in the room. At 12:32am I was on the phone looking for the first hotel that had availability. I eventually found another hotel nearby and immediately started moving my things out of the room. I quickly gathered my things and immediately left roach infested room. Thank God I had not placed any luggage on the floor or opened anything. After checking into the next hotel, which was fresh, clean and perfect for me and my furry, I noticed I had left my meds and make up bag at the roach motel. I immediately jumped in my car and went across the highway to retrieve my items. When I entered the doors the hotel staff was sitting behind a cubicle wall, more than likely asleep. I asked for a key to get my things I left and he allowed me back in the room. I got my items and realized I had left my garment bag rushing to leave. I quickly grab my things and exited the premises. When I got to my car, I unzipped the garment bag fully inspected my clothes, shook them out and threw the bag away before entering my car. There is no way the staff did not know there was a roach problem in the hotel or that no previous guest had not reported room 319 roach problem. I will never stay at this location ever again!!! If it had not been for me being tired and I'm need of rest after driving 11 hours from Pittsburgh and heading to Tampa, FL, I would have never stopped. The last time I stopped at this location the hotel was fairly new but over the years it has definitely went down hill. I highly recommend that if you are in the area that you turn left off Arkwright and go to the Residence Inn and stay far away from the Candlewood Suites. Far away!! Did I mention that the room was a king suite. One of what was supposed to be the best room the hotel has to offer at a higher nightly rate due to added amenities, which I guess was the advanced technology cooling system in the wall. Nothing else was spectacular about the room other than the greeting I received from the baby roaches. I'm glad the parents didn't come to greet me first. The babies did an awesome job at letting me know I was not wanted and I did an amazing job respecting their privacy. STAY AWAY... FAR AWAY!!! read more

I found this hotel through one of those big websites that help you find deals on accommodations. The reviews there were favorable, and comparing with Yelp, I gave this place a shot. It was going to be a nice stopping point on a long road trip to Tennessee, and since it was right off of I-75, why not? After a long 8 hours on the road, it wasn't hard to locate this hotel as it's tucked in with several other hotels. It's near so many other luxuries within a mile stretch of road as well (a variety of restaurants, grocery store and some bars, etc.). There's plenty of parking, and carts right inside the lobby doors to help unload your ride and get you up to the room. The staff was pretty friendly, and I was able to check in without any hassle whatsoever. For the price I paid, to get a pretty comfortable suite for myself was great. Travelling long distance and having a full size fridge to keep all my perishables fresh until the morning was a huge plus. Coffee maker in the room, 2 burner stove, a full size microwave, dishes, a small sink WITH a disposer, clean, updated bathroom and pet friendly to boot? This was a pretty nice stay, and the room was very clean all around. My only beef with most hotels like this is that the beds are always way too firm for me to be completely comfortable, but I was able to rest enough to finish my drive the next day. Nice enough place, pretty quiet and in a nice little spot off of the interstate, I'd consider booking this place again in the future. read more

I'm giving this place two stars ONLY because of the staff. Both staff members I came in contact with were kind and went out of their way to be helpful. Otherwise this place gets a 1. The lobby and outside are clean but once you get into your room you realize you've been fooled. I didn't even want to walk around without shoes on. Overall the room was extremely dirty. The first thing my puppy did was find a kernel of corn (assuming from the free bag of popcorn they leave out for guests). A disgusting smell hit me as soon as I walked in the room. It smelled like fried food and something horrible I can't even describe. One of my favorite things about staying in these hotels is I like to keep the stove light on because it emits a warm, homey glow...and this one didn't work. Did I ask them to fix it or to change rooms? Heck no! I'd been driving in thanksgiving traffic for 8 hours and it was past midnight. There was NO WAY I was going to change rooms for a light. Another beef-the fan didn't work on the AC. Another thing I like about staying in these hotels is the AC unit has a fan you can run all the time and it helps me sleep but this one DIDN'T WORK. Let me give you the cherry on top...a train track runs abouuuuut 25 ish feet on the side of the hotel our room was on and guess what?!!! It ran all night long! Every time I'd finally fall asleep the AC would kick off and wake me up and THEN I'd fall asleep again and THEN the train would wake me up. *Also, can someone tell me WHY staff wouldn't mention a nighttime train passing by on our end of the hotel?? He even asked me if 3rd floor was okay and what side I wanted (next to elevator or stairs) and I said stairs because I didn't want to hear the elevator since I'm sensitive to noise) No. No. No. This is one of "those" hotels that someone purchased the name of and "redid" it but it is NOT up to par and I will never stay here again on my trips down to Fla. I recommend you find somewhere else. read more

One star because zero stars is not an option. Arrived at 2:35 pm. No one at front desk, but a phone with instructions to call an extension. The person answered, said they would be there soon. When they arrived they told me "your room was not clean and they did not know when it would be ready, besides check-in is not until three, but they will call me when the room is ready". I needed a room asap as I needed to shower to attend an event at 5 pm. I went to the hotel next door to get a room, checked in right away. The Candlewood Suites staff did not own their problems, honor the agreement of having a room ready for me at 3, or call me, then refused to refund my payment. I guess the room was never ready. In my opinion, this hotel is operated by incompetency at the very least, but realistically, DISHONEST THIEVES. The person at the desk probably gave the room to a friend of theirs for some cash on the side. read more

ROACH MOTEL. I checked in, laid on the bed, and within a few minutes I saw a bug scurry across my stomach. (Thank goodness I was clothed.) I hit it and it landed on the bed. I grabbed it with a paper towel to look at it. Thinking and worried it might have been a bed bug I started taking the sheets off the bed to search. I discovered another bug on the wall behind the mattress. I immediately went downstairs to the front desk and showed the clerk the bugs in the paper towels - She apologized. She said she would give me a refund and the General Manager would call me in the morning. We left and went to a different hotel. Well, it has been 1 week and no phone call from the General Manager or anyone. So unprofessional and lazy. Clearly they don't care. I showed photos of the bugs to a pest expert. Stayed here for a night while we went house hunting from out of town. Very friendly front office staff and the rooms were fairly clean from what we could see. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was a plus. The location is key due to it sitting right off of 75. I stay here at least two nights a week for business and have done so for two years. They do learn your name and they do go out of their way to help you. I've seen staff actually walking a dog for a long term guest who had to be out of town that day. They know I'm absent minded and I often come back next week to find something left for me on the front desk that I left behind last time. The place is clean and well kept. Doug does a good job of keeping up with any maintenance issues. I have stayed in all kinds of rooms in this hotel and rarely have I hit on a problem. Shirley runs a great property. The downside was the linens and the pillows. The pillows were very small and flat. The linens were pilled which should not be expected in any hotel. I thought this was a good deal for a hotel but was mortified when I was not allowed to have my family to visit me in the pool during a recent visit. There was no one else using the pool and 2 of my siblings came with 2 four year olds, 1 nine year old, and two teenaged girls. The lady from the front desk threatened with calling the police for trespassing. I thought that a few hours with my family would not have effected anyone, especially when, for the two nights before the patio area had been packed with adults smoking and drinking beer that they did not buy from the hotel. I was told that registered guests ONLY were allowed to use the facilities, no matter how little they impacted the overall hotel atmosphere. My holiday was ruined by the lack of empathy and strict determination that rules are rules and no exceptions could be made. read more

This is our second year stay passing through to FL. We have 2 dogs and don't think the extra $50 a night is unreasonable. The first year we were nervous about them being loud and unruly, so I didn't give the accommodations a second thought. This year we were way more relaxed so I focused on my comfort! I was so impressed with how clean our room was, given it's a "dog friendly " hotel. I may have detected a slight breed or two, but it really wasn't bad. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen stocked with all necessities ( oh, but no wine opener) and the dogs actually slept through the night, something they don't always do at home. Recommended a nearby 5-star restaurant as well. VALUE an amazing list of amenities for the price QUALITY - first class sleeping experience and sparkling bathroom. The full size refrigerator and ice maker came in handy. They even offered dishwasher, 2 burner stove and huge microwave! Candlewood Suites in Macon was nice, clean, affordable ($75/night). Though it's not the Waldorf Astoria, it's a basic but spacious hotel room with a kitchen. It served us well and was located in a convenient area. The room was very clean, there was Wi-Fi, we had plenty of space, and the staff was friendly. It was exactly what we needed and I was very happy with the experience. I would stay at Candlewood again when I'm in Macon. read more

The good things first: excellent price, great pool, very nice kitchen, great TV, excellent AC, nice gym, free coffee which was delicious! The not so good: one bed was broken and leaned. I killed 2 roaches, one in kitchen the other in bathroom. The Wi-Fi was terrible, in and out so much I gave up and switched to cellular data. Overall I would stay there again but there is room for improvement. They allow dogs, next time I'll bring mine. It was pretty clean, aside from the 2 roaches (the kitchenette is likely the culprit) I was satisfied with the cleanliness. I would recommend this hotel to people that are looking for a decent place on a budget, especially if they have pets and/or children. read more

We stopped at the Candlewood Suites Macon en route to Miami, FL (a l-o-n-g drive from Cincinnati, OH) on 12/27/2017. When we walked in the door, the front desk associate greeted us by name, although we had never been there. He said we were the last reservation, so we must be the McGorons. Friendliness does not begin to describe our experience. However, the best was yet to come. About an hour after checking in, my husband received a phone call that I had left my watch on the TV stand. I stay in hotels frequently and have left things all across the country. I have NEVER, even in fancy places, had anyone call to tell me I had forgotten something. We headed to Miami to board a cruise ship and then stopped in Macon again on the way home to retrieve my watch. Unfortunately, we got there in the evening and my very inexpensive watch was locked up in the safe for safekeeping. No worries! The front desk associate offered to mail it to us AT NO CHARGE. I received my watch a couple of days later, wrapped up like it was a gold brick, and it is now on my arm, where it belongs. In a world where it routinely seems like customer service is a thing of the past, please believe me that good people are alive and well at the Candlewood Suites in Macon, Georgia. I was attempting to secure a reservation at the Hampton Inn on I-75 in Macon GA. However, the number given in the on-line ad when called transferred me to another number. I wasn't made aware that the number to which I was transferred was not the Hampton Inn. I made my reservation with the agents with and to whom I had been transferred. This was on 02/02/2018. My reservation was for 02/05/2018 for a one night stay. I was charged $143.93 which I paid for with my debit card. When my statement arrived I checked the charges and found that I had been charged the $143.93, but also $187.94 for the same one night. When I called to speak to​ someone about the mistake I was told "we are very sorry​ but this reservation was made by "Get a Room.com. She went on to say,"We don't even have your information so there is nothing we can do about it." When I made the reservation, I thought I was speaking to persons at the Hampton Inn, ​not the Candlewood Suites. I feel violated and cheated. People trust the businesses that advertise lodging along major highways. The system for requesting lodging at the Hampton Inn and/or the Candlewood Suites on I-75 in Macon, GA are not worthy of that trust when mistakes such as mine are made and the cost is over 100% more than the ​quoted amount​.
