I'll be the first to admit it... when I hear "Holiday Inn," I automatically picture something between a motel and a basic hotel. You know... clean enough, decent enough, maybe a solid 2 or 3 stars. Then you walk through those front doors and... WOW. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous. It's open, spacious, beautifully designed, and immediately gives you that upscale hotel feeling. It honestly reminded me more of a Hilton or Marriott than what most people picture when they hear "Holiday Inn." To the right is a beautiful restaurant that adds to the overall atmosphere, and to the left is where you meet one of this hotel's greatest assets... The front desk staff. I can't say enough good things about them. Every single person we encountered greeted us with genuine smiles, professional attire, and the kind of welcoming attitude that instantly makes you feel like you're in good hands. It wasn't the forced "customer service smile." It was authentic. Now let me talk about someone who truly deserves to be recognized... Francisco. Holiday Inn... if anyone from corporate is reading this, I hope you know exactly who I'm talking about because this young man deserves every bit of recognition that comes his way. We were staying here during one of the most stressful times imaginable... moving. If you've ever had to coordinate hotels while waiting on housing, you already know it's exhausting. Every day felt like another puzzle to solve. Almost every single day I found myself at the front desk needing something. Another night added. Another extension. Questions. Changes. Updates. I probably drove the poor guy crazy... Not once... NOT ONCE... did Francisco ever make me feel like I was a burden. Every interaction was met with patience, professionalism, kindness, and a smile. He didn't just answer questions. He solved problems. When I needed extra time before extending my stay, he worked with me. When I was overwhelmed, he somehow had this calm energy that immediately made me feel like everything was going to work out. That's a rare gift. Customer service isn't just checking people in and handing over room keys. It's making people feel seen. It's making people feel welcome. It's making stressful situations just a little less stressful. Francisco does all of that effortlessly. If I owned this hotel, I'd be recognizing him publicly because employees like him are exactly why guests return. Better yet... I'd have him teaching customer service seminars to every new front desk employee because he truly sets the gold standard. As for the hotel itself... Our room was incredibly spacious, spotless, and comfortable. The double beds were surprisingly roomy. Two adults and my son fit comfortably without feeling cramped, which is almost unheard of. The mattresses were comfortable, the room was modern, everything worked exactly as it should, and housekeeping clearly takes pride in what they do. The outdoor pool was clean, refreshing, and well maintained. After spending the last couple of weeks bouncing between different hotels while waiting to move, I can honestly say this was, hands down, one of the best experiences we had. In fact... if I had known this Holiday Inn existed and offered this level of service, quality, and value, I would've skipped the other places entirely and booked here from the very beginning. So to Francisco, the incredible front desk team, housekeeping, and everyone behind the scenes... Thank you. You didn't just provide us with a room. You provided us with peace of mind. Overall the service was really good. The lobby and bar area is really nice. The rooms are a little dark and can do with a little better updating. The sink drained really slow and there was as hair in my room so a little more attention to detail would help with feeling cleaner. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the hallway. The ac unit is also really loud. There is a restaurant on site but I didn't try it. What a really, really lovely experience. From check in, to the restaurant, to the cleanliness of the room, I have to say this was such a magnificent experience. The front desk staff member was so professional and sweet. ** I am not going to lie, I did automatically assume I was getting free cinnamon buns by staying here because it's been so long since I've stayed in a holiday inn. You won't find this here I did eat in the cafe for breakfast and this was about $18 for fried potatoes, toast, eggs and bacon. I needed to eat something before going to an event. I went here out of convenience and my waiter was attentive, kind and made me feel at home. The food can improve but this is the standard brand - could have been a free buffet breakfast but just charged for it. The room was very clean. VERY. Bathroom, towels, bedding, floors. The Dove branded toiletries were great. I even brought my own shampoo, conditioner and all because I wasn't sure what to expect. I was happy in this department. I see why now these reviews mention this hotel being more like a motel. We stayed 5 nights and the setup was odd. Lobby is nice, friendly front desk staff every day (+1 star), but the rooms feel outdated and like a motel room. Our room was clean (+1 star), but furniture and room felt cheap for the price paid. The thing that really bothered me was the constant noise from other guests at night and in the morning! I had trouble sleeping and being woken up. Once I thought someone was being annoying and chatting on the phone outside of our room. I stepped out to ask them to please keep it down, only to find they were in the next room! I heard the entire side of their conversation & it felt like they could have been in our room. I do not recommend as the noise was a daily issue. While the room itself was relatively clean and the amenities were fine, the overall environment felt off and unsettling from the moment I checked in. The hotel gave off serious motel vibes, and there seemed to be a population of long-term guests who made the atmosphere feel less like a typical hotel and more like a halfway house. I don't know the full story, but something didn't feel right. I actually received a call from the front desk asking, "Are you OK?" -- not "Is your room OK?" or "Do you need anything?" -- just "Are you OK?", which really caught me off guard and confirmed my gut feeling that they've had situations in the past. There were loud, disruptive guests every night, including men yelling on the phone in the hallway and people aggressively slamming doors. I never once felt at ease here, and safety is a basic expectation when booking a hotel. Even checkout felt strange. Hospitality staff quickly walked through the halls tapping on my window (and likely others set to checkout) early in the morning, which I suspect was a passive way to wake folks up before 11am. I've seen this happen at other hotels too -- it's an unspoken tactic to get people out sooner, and it's unprofessional. This hotel has been a mainstay for local Long Island HS/school reunions for 10+ years. It appears that new management (not a local entrepeneur) is no longer interested in this business as Sat nites one must GUARANTEE 150 folks - which is really onerous for our type of group. I have spoken with many other reunion committees, and they all concur. We were excited about going back there, but are now faced with moving on. Also, the main ballroom has been "updated" with super fancy chandeliers not in matching with the location of the hotel or the room ambiance. It's more of a modern decor by the bar (very nice) and then the Ballroom is early Huntington Town House. The decor at their Open House was, in my opinion, very ostentatious. If their intent is to cater to all types of groups and ethnicities, then the decor is a mistake. I am sorry I didn't take a pic of the approx 10' by 12' wall of pink carnations. The food at the Open House was good - that has never been an issue. Sorry we will be unable to return, unless we want an afternoon or some other time that is not viable. read more

Hubby and I decided to stay here for a night. We just wanted to try the pool on a hot summer day. Today we can't plan anything far ahead due to the unpredictable weather. One day is hot, the next day rain, and after that, lightning and thunder. We stayed one night and used the pool for two days. The front desk staffers were friendly. We had Francisco welcome and check us in, and Patrick handled our checkout. I asked for a late checkout and was able to extend it. So we could swim more. So thankful! We had a room on the ground floor near the pool. The room was clean, quite big, with a high bed. It was a good room, no issue. The customer service at this location's bar/restaurant leave a great deal to be desired. When I checked in, I was encouraged to patronize their in house restaurant "Bistro 495". Thant evening, I asked the front desk manager where I could place a to go order. She directed to the bar. I was greeted at the by a gentlemen with the words "what do you want?". When I told him I wanted to place a to go order, he told me that I had to go to a stand alone cash register to the right of the bar. After standing there for a few minutes, the same bar tender came to me and said "okay, I can help you at the bar". I was disinclined to returned for more of his customer service. 15 minutes later, another gentleman took my order. I noticed that after taking my credit order, he gave himself a "Thumbs Up" rating on the CC pad. It's one thing to tat yourself on the back. It's quite another to do it with someone else's hand. IGH is a multi-billion dollar company, and I'm sure they will give some canned response about how they live and die for customer service. Typically if I have a bad experience somewhere, I refrain from leaving a review - this warrants an exception. To corroborate another recent review, there are cockroaches in the room. Additionally, there is mold and dust everywhere, and the lock on the door is busted. The cherry on top - the police had to be called on the room next door due to a domestic disturbance. Despite being informed by the front desk that they would be escorted from the property, they were allowed to stay. This is after attempting to break into a room, screaming profanity in the hallway, and from what was overheard (thin walls), a physical altercation between the two. This hotel is much more like a motel than it is a hotel. I stayed here for work and I was not a fan. Driving up to the hotel, it was in a very isolated and almost creepy location. Upon entering, I was shocked by how nice the lobby was. The outside of the hotel looked sort of run down so I was expecting the inside to be as well. I was warmly greeted by the staff as they checked me into my room. I arrived earlier than Check-In and they were happy to find me a room that was ready. It took me quite a while to find my room as they have a very off layout. The rooms were OK - they weren't completely outdated. The worst part was the fact that there were no direct sunlight windows. None of the rooms in this hotel have windows to the outside. I am big on natural light so this was a big downer for me. This Holiday Inn is more Motelish than Hotelish. We stayed here to go to a cemetery. It's a couple of stories tall with faux indoor corridors. We got a substantial deal on an internet website because it was low season, but had we paid full rack, you would have had one unhappy David on your hands. Staff is fine, very accommodating. There is No Indoor Pool or Spa. Our King rooms was tight, and in the back of the building, our window looked out onto an interior corridor with dim lighting where people pass. Dim enough that we wanted to move into and out of the room quickly in case someone may be lurking... The thermostat was a 1970's non-digital slider. The type that you can't tell what the room temperature currently is, nor can you accurately set the temp what you want it to be. It's trial and error and we just left it off. The room and bed were cozy comfortable. This Holiday Inn's biggest selling point is it's location, location, location...It is right off the LIE and Northern State. It's close to all the Pinelawn Cemeteries as well as tons of businesses. We would probably not choose to stay here again, but if there was another spectacular deal--sure. All the negative reviews you have read are spot on !! As soon as we arrived & saw that the bathroom sink had apparently backed up at some point after it had been 'cleaned' (see photo) I knew this was going to be an awful stay. Of course we changed rooms. The room appeared updated but had a funk stale smell. The only reason I'm being generous with a 1 star rating is because bedding & linens appeared clean & tub was clean as well. The sink in the 2nd room was equally as bad as the first - it was clean but the water drained sooo slowly that you were spitting your toothpaste into a inches of water as it ever so slowly drained out.... This place reminded me of a hospital setting. The rooms had windows however they were not to the outside they were looking into hallways. As you would imagine a hospital would be. The floors were oddly slanted. The HVAC system was so loud that you could barely sleep. And the compressor of the fridge cycled all night. The gap in the door frame was enough that you could see daylight all around it. You could hear all the foot traffic coming down the halls as well as the traffic in the parking lot all night as well. The window in the hall was covered in bugs (inside) We pointed it out to the maintenance guy and he casually said oh they're not termites, those windows are metal ... we chuckled & walked away. When we walked back past the same window there was an obvious smell of 'Raid' & dead bugs were all over the windowsill. (See photos) at least he could have cleaned up the dead remains. We tolerated the entire experience since we were only getting dressed & 'sleeping' there. I could go on & on ..... read more

Overall, our hotel stay was pleasant. We were immediately greeted with a smile upon checking in and checking out. The lobby of the hotel has very soft, modern decor. The room was nice but on the small side. Hallways were a little outdated. Everything in the hotel was clean. The only downside of our stay was that the shower ceiling was too low and the TV turned on and off by itself a bunch of times. After my experience I WISH I would've read these reviews first. Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, and I recently stayed in a holiday inn off north ocean in farmingville and it was amazing and totally opposite compared to this that's why I was also shocked. Then shocked because the lobby looked SO nice but boy is that misleading. First off, it's like a maze to find your room. My room had 2 small hairs in the bed I regret not taking a picture but I was in a state of shock. After calling the front desk they changed my room thankfully, BUT the second room had DIRT IN THE BATHTUB WHAT THE FCK ?! How do you ignore that as a housekeeper on a room with your name on it that you cleaned it. So disgusted. I called the front desk again and they put me in a different section, this room was finally decent after the bar was set so low but still nothing compared to the other holiday inn I stayed at prior. Outdated but not the worst. Hallway floors noticeably slanted. No natural light very dark room. Had a smell to it that I can't describe. Loud heating system. I felt uncomfortable taking a shower because there was this weird bath mat on the floor. The bed was super rock hard you could feel the springs. I wrapped my hair because after the first two rooms I was grossed out still. I would've asked for my money back at this point but I had no choice because of the blizzard. Only thing I'm thankful for is another hotel guest screaming on the phone at 9am as my alarm clock since I hit the snooze too many times. Felt very cheap, like a motel but the price is $200 per night. So not worth it. I felt like I was in a super hood hospital. As a Road Warrior I stay in a hotel, or two or three, just about every week. Even though I'm an active Yelper I don't have the time to write a hotel review unless I'm really impressed and that is the case with these folks. I spent a week here so I feel I know this establishment quite well. Here are my observations- * I was out and about each day and parking was a breeze every time. * This hotel has recently undergone a multi-million dollar remodel and it shows. * The lobby is beautiful in an understated way. * The front desk staff was unfailingly friendly and courteous. * My room was spotless and kept that way every day. * The restaurant is a notch above most hotel eateries and the breakfast is especially nice. * The bar deserves special mention. It's nicely finished with plenty of HD TVs. I found the bartenders to be efficient and competent. During the week there is a 4:30 to 6:30 happy hour that is amazing! Drinks are 1/2 price but the real star of the show is an incredible and extensive tapas menu that is also 1/2 price. When I visited it had 18 items including roasted chorizo with caramelized onions, beef and pork meatballs with Manchego cheese, and Ahi tuna tacos. These plates among others were wonderful and the portions were large. Order two and you'll have a decent dinner. I saw one guy order three plates and he was stuffed. These plates are usually around $8 so for $4 bucks each and 1/2 price drinks it's a hell of a deal. This happy hour is so good that if I was in the area I'd make this a destination trip. If you need a room on this part of LI I'd highly recommend these folks. read more

I recently stayed at this hotel and my experience with Holiday Inn has been hit or miss, this one was a hit. Not sure when this one was built, but it was a very nice hotel - and was very current, and did not feel 'old'. My room number was 14 which at first I found to be odd - it was on the lower level of the hotel. The rooms are a bit strange as they have windows facing out into the hallway (make sure you keep those curtains closed!) but the hallway was enclosed. It did not matter I found the entire interior of the hotel to be nicely updated and clean, the room was incredibly comfortable with nice furnishings. They put cookies and little desserts (quite tasty) out each evening on the right hand side of the front desk. The lobby area is lovely and open, they have a full service restaurant and bar that serves pretty tasty food. If you go to the bar during happy hour they have half priced appetizers and drinks. The bartender (Cindy I think was her name?) was fantastic. She asked me my name once and despite a full house of patrons remembered it and called me by my name with each interaction. The staff was really nice and accommodating. The only small criticism I have is that I was checking in the same time as some other guy. The older gentleman that I got was nowhere near as good as the young gal checking in the other guy. He was super slow, never asked me my name (strange right?) and never called me by my name. He kept staring at the screen and did some seem very efficient. While the other guy was being told about all of the amenities of the hotel (breakfast, restaurants in the area) the guy checking me in just earnestly stared at his computer screen. He was very sweet and nice, but maybe needed a little more training or something. Wifi was strong, in-room stuff (towels, plugs, toiletries) were great. This was a good stay, very good. This is a weird place. The rooms don't have exterior windows; rather, the windows overlook a hallway and have privacy plastic over them, so no light enters the room from outside. As others have mentioned, the floors in the hallway aren't level, which might speak to the overall level of maintenance. The carpet in the hallway needs a heavy duty shampooing. Our room itself was functional but smelled stale and mildewy. We cranked the air conditioning, hoping that the AC would remove some of the dampness and mustiness. However, the only vent for the AC was in the bathroom, which didn't do much for the room itself. If I turned the fan up to the highest level to hopefully circulate the cooled air better, the fan made an annoying rattling sound which would have kept me awake. If I closed the bathroom door, then the room itself wouldn't have had any cooled air. While we couldn't hear any traffic from inside the room, we could hear other guests talking when they passed in the hallway. We could hear them so clearly that they might just as well have been in the room. The beds appeared to be clean and were comfortable, but the bathroom should have been cleaned more thoroughly before our arrival. I wouldn't recommend this place. It gets two stars because there were three locks on the door, the beds were comfortable, and there was no problem with the hot water. read more

So first of all, if I get a good nights sleep and don't worry about my surroundings you get 3 stars as a hotel. It's what I'm here. The staff friendliness varies. Some are a pleasure to interact with and some aren't so much. None are a problem... just some seem to be only as nice as required by law. It's nice looking but misses some details. My toilet paper holder falls off easily and was 'repaired' with an odd screw instead of a proper one. The room last week had a fridge but it wouldn't stay closed and didn't fit the cabinet properly. My room last week had the toilet paper roll too far away to reach (I've got 37" sleeves). They put cookies out in the evening as usual but they are usually overdone. They have a breakfast area that opens at 6:30 but when you try to take a seat a few minutes early while waiting for them to open they act as if you're ruffling their feathers (I sat down anyway). So I wouldn't put it on my avoid list but I would also never send business their way. read more

They charge a service charge fee for room service and don't let you know prior to ordering. They also place a automatic 20%tip on all room service orders and they don't disclose it unless you ask for a detailed receipt up front. Holiday Inn Plainview-Long Island - Getting a late start on dinner after a 5 hour drive. - Hotels Near Me - Plainview, New York

I guess we should have checked before even thinking about booking with this hotel, all the bad reviews make sense now. After traveling for a long period of time the person that made our reservation made it for the wrong location when we needed it in plainview. Then upon arrival the front desk staff was not helpful at all and snarky/sarcastic. The lady's name is Lydia. Bad customer service for someone who is supposed to be the welcoming staff of a hotel. Zero stars if we could! Needless to say we will never give this hotel chain any further business. read more

I stayed here for two nights for a wedding. I parked my car Friday early afternoon and stayed until Sunday just before noon. The wedding was a short ride from the hotel and transportation was provided. The hotel was excellent, the room was clean and well stocked. I was in a room with a king size bed, Direct-TV, refrigerator and microwave. The room had a blow dryer, ironing board and iron. All employees were friendly, helpful and very engaged with all of us. The hotel was at capacity yet there was always someone quickly available when needed. The restaurant provided good food and excellent service for breakfast, lunch and happy hour. read more

Rooms are clean and nice. Real disappointing breakfast. No bananas, no soy milk. Bacon and powdered eggs galore. No yogurt. Apples were bad, oranges meh. If you're looking to load up on bacon and powdered eggs this is the breakfast place for you, otherwise look elsewhere if you are health conscience. Oh, last note, tried the pineapple and it was sour. Insult to injury? Update: I go in each morning for a box of cereal, the wait staff pretty much ignores you if you have a free breakfast coupon. I find myself going to the tables adjacent to me to get some coffee from their pot. Update 2: today they did have yogurt. Perhaps the coupon should say "wait staff avoidance card" instead of complementary breakfast. read more

After having my flight diverted due to a storm, being booked on a second and then a third flight into Newark, then having THAT one cancelled at midnight, I spent the night not at this hotel but at the airport in Charlotte, NC. I assumed that Holiday Inn would be reasonable about this, since it was physically impossible for me to be at the hotel for reasons entirely outside my control (and also well documented); but no. I spoke to a very rude British woman (perhaps they made her leave?) who told me that the charges had already been posted and they "had no control over it". Just checked my card, and the charges have not been posted. I called back again and she said "oh god", pretended not to hear me, and hung up. I'm kind of baffled that a major chain would treat customers like this, but there you have it. Accent: 4 stars Service: -17 stars ** UPDATE: the charge never did appear on my bill. So there's that, at least. Still won't be staying here, ever. read more
