The rooms were clean with DOVE products, elevators were working without problems and the breakfast (extra charge) was actually pretty good. They had eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, pancake, oatmeal, Greek yogurt, pudding, fresh fruit such as bluebwrries, pineapple, apples, bananas, oranges and watermelon. They also has sides of jalapeños, salsa, shredded cheese, cream cheese for your eggs and stuff. They have the croissants, bagels and toast/muffins. Drinks included chocolate milk, almond milk, regular milk, apple juice; OJ, coffee, as well as some flavored juices. It was a decent selection and everyone ate well. For the price, it was cheaper and had a FAR BETTER breakfast than Best Western which is a newer hotel. Best western's breakfast was not served hot and they dilute their orange juice heavily so it doesn't even taste like OJ. Limited selection. The only Downside of this place is the A/C. I have to wonder how this place would rate if Legoland wasn't so close since the options are very limited, especially if you don't plan your stay well in advance - you will save some money by staying here compare to the LEGO Hotel or some of the other options there's no doubt about it but there are some sacrifices. The best part of the stay in my opinion was the staff, this team definitely understands the importance of customer service but sadly this doesn't makeup for the accommodations. If you arrive after dark the entrance can be a little confusing if you're coming from I-4 don't turn too early and if your driving an extended cab pickup truck the spaces weren't ready designed for you, it's all about how many vehicles they could cram into the space. The room was just okay, the beds and water pressure left a lot to be desired but that isn't something the staff can do anything about so it is what it is. There are choices you can make that will make your stay tolerable, but by all means avoid the breakfast, regardless or not if it's comp'd. The breakfast area it seems was filled with people who were staying one night or had just completed the first night of their extended stay because I don't think too many people would do it twice. Besides being on the stingy side it horrible - the eggs were dried out beyond belief, there were three slices of bacon in the chaffing dish and the sausage was rancid - the milk was in bulk instead of small gable-top cartons and it wasn't cold. Our flights were delayed, we arrived to the property at 3am, they would not allow us to check in until 3pm. They would not accommodate us with a room because they were closing out their day. When I cancelled the reservation, they still charged me for a full night stay and would not make an exception, So remember, when you make a reservation with this hotel, you must cancel 24 hours in advance or they will take your money. I chose this hotel despite the spendy price tag of $165/night) because of the many positive Yelp reviews. It wasn't terrible, but I expected more, especially from this franchise. I'm not a super-frequent traveler, maybe a half-dozen times a year. But I've enough experience to know that a number of little things could have been better. Case in point: this may be the first hotel I've ever stayed at that didn't have a microwave in the room. Mini-fridge yes, microwave no. What's with that? We have a disabled daughter for whom we have to heat up special meals. I asked to borrow a microwave for the room, and was instead told that we had to go down and use the community microwave in the lobby restaurant. The elevators and carpets were slightly grimy and smelled like smoke. $165/night and there's no free breakfast? Really? They do offer a breakfast buffet, but it costs $10 per person. That cuts into the holiday budget, especially for a family. I've gotten used to no automatic room cleaning during multiple-day stays since the pandemic, but you can usually get it anyway if you ask for it. Not here. Here you can only get it every third day. Again, not huge, but annoying nonetheless. We also had a mix-up with the housekeepers, who weren't aware that we were staying for several days and panicked my daughter (while I was away from the room) by telling her repeatedly that she needed to check out. I cleared it up shortly thereafter, but it shouldn't have happened at all. In short, the little stuff adds up. I expected more, especially for the money and especially from Holiday Inn. read more

Avoid at all costs! When I arrived, there was all manner of incompetence at the front desk. A lobby full of people, and we were all waiting for the 2 employees at the check-in counter to figure out how to do their jobs. When it was finally my turn, I told them my boss had reserved my room for me. She found the reservation (no easy task for her, apparently), and then told me they didn't have a card on file and I needed to use my own (the room was booked on a company card). I left, and drove the hour and a half-home (in my defense, I was tired, hungry, and had a headache, and had no patience for ridiculousness). Tried again the next night, with the card info in hand. This time I was informed my reservation had been cancelled and they were full. Funny thing is, I found out later, they charged the room to the card they "didn't have on file" even though nobody stayed there. Not only that, but they told my employer that I was a "no-show" so they weren't willing to reverse the charge - AND they charged the card for subsequent nights as well! Thankfully, after 2 nights trying without success to check in for my stay, I checked with the Hampton next door, and had a FANTASTIC stay! Hard to believe they are owned by the same people, but what a night and day difference! Do yourself a favor. Skip the Holiday Inn, and book next door at the Hampton. There is no comparison! Very disappointed with this hotel. I have stayed with them on multiple occasions and they apparently only care about money. I had a reservation with them this past weekend but my son had to go to the hospital so I called them and told them I had to cancel my reservation. The lady I spoke with said it would not be a problem and she would cancel. Then she asked me to enroll in a bunch of promotional programs and transferred me over. I kept telling them I was at the hospital and couldn't do this right now, and finally had to hang up on them because they wouldn't stop pitching me new promotions. Apparently the lady was too concerned with her other programs and she forgot to put in my cancellation. The next morning I received a text that I was a "no call No show" to my reservation so I was charged. I have spent all morning on the phone with them getting bounced all over the place and I've been told repeatedly that because it wasn't canceled yesterday I can't get a refund. I stayed here over the weekend and the room had a roach in it. I was promptly given another room which was fine. The next morning I went down to heat something up in the microwave down in the dining area. My child sat at a table waiting for me and I was approached by an employee who works in the kitchen and was told we were not allowed to sit there unless we were buying something (I'm assuming she meant breakfast). She was rude and continued to stare until my child got up from the table and left the area. The hallways were also extremely hot and muggy. I called the hotel directly to book the reservation because my company had a local discount rate. They apparently transferred me to a third party to book the reservation. My plans changes and my reservation needed to be modified and one less day. Holiday Inn sent me to the third party and the third party sent me back to the front desk. Stayed at this location 5/20-5/23 I mainly booked because the site states that they have free breakfast, and when we went down our first morning not only was the options lacking at the breakfast bar, but my 2 year old barely had anything on his plate, my 7 year old didn't even eat the cereal bowl she got but we were charged for them $8.00 each, and I had a banana and yogurt and was charged $9.95 buffet which again was not a buffet to begin. The bathroom in the room had clogged sinks/bathtub. We had very noisy people next door and it took 4 calls to hotel staff to have the issue handles at 12 in the night. What bummed me out the most and my family was the miscommunication among staff in regards to the pool. We were told it was closed for the day (Friday) but then when we asked again the gentleman and lady at the front could not get the correct answer, one said it will open the next day the other said she was not sure when it would open due to maintenance. I really wish the experience was better. The location is convenient to Legoland, and I Was hopeful to write a better review. The 3 main reasons for the low review is the loud Air Conditoner in the room, the smoke filled entrance to the lobby, and the failure to match a lower price online they said they would do when I booked the room The air conditioning is very loud here, and it was hard to sleep. My 3 year old kept waking up in the middle of the night to tell us it was too loud for him to sleep. The room was clean which was helpful, but I expect that when I pay this much for a hotel room. That should be a given. They smoking area is right in the entrance, so there is no way to enter with my 3 year old not taking in a lot of 2nd hand smoke. Even when there were no smokers standing there, the whole entrance smelled like smoke. I have stayed at the hotel next store that is owned by the same group, and we thought we would try this one out. We travel to Legoland several times per year, and we are getting to know the area. I booked the room online, paid upfront, and was lead to believe that there was a price match guarantee. Sure enough, the price went down, and they would not honor it. I am a preferred member (at least that is what my ID Card says) . They made no effort to find a solution. I was told that they would match lower prices between my booking time and my stay. The room was $21 cheaper when I called in. The representative at the hotel was short and to the point that they would not reduce my rate, provide a refund, or even a future credit. A price guarantee is meaningless if the hotel will not honor it, or provide a solution. When the rep uses the word unfortunately more than 5 times in a short conversation, I realize that they are reading a script and have zero empowerment to help a valued customer. Its sad that they do not keep their promises. I had prior bad experience a few months ago at a different location with the same hotel chain. Have to say this is a great hotel to stay at if you are ever in Winter Haven. We stayed here because if it's close proximity to Lego Land. Our son received a little Lego kit which was great! Service at check in was very friendly and speedy. We did check in at 10:30pm. Location of the hotel is off a major road with several good franchise restaurants and a Publix near by. Hotel itself is only six years old. Hotel room was very clean and everything was in working order. Free breakfast in the morning with coffee, juices, breakfast pastries, and breads. Everyone was extremely nice and tried hard to make us happy. Top rating for sweetness, cleanliness, and hard-working staff. The beds, however, were so hard and uncomfortable that even my children couldn't sleep! The first morning we were all incredibly cranky from a poor night's sleep. We asked for extra blankets and put them on the mattresses and that helped. The springs creaked and it felt like we were sleeping on just box springs. So much for the billion dollar renovation! The cooked food in the evening was good, but the breakfast buffet was awful. Stick to cereal, prepackaged yogurt and while fruit. The make- your- own waffles come out really nice, but the eggs are powdered, the meat repulsive, and the coffee is undrinkable. I am guessing it is because the water tastes so bad. A water purifier (as least for the restaurant) is a must. The drinking water is obviously from a well with a strong and unpleasant taste. Sorry Holiday Inn! We stayed in room #314. I really hope that maybe just that one room has those horrendously uncomfortable beds. The lady at the front desk at checkout claimed people love their mattresses. Well, not ours!!! I have slept in a lot of hotels and have literally never had a more uncomfortable bed in my life. I am really not looking for luxury at HI, but the three essentials are clean rooms, comfy beds, and good coffee. You got 1 out of 3. I came here for my birthday and a trip to Disney World! And I have to say I REALLY liked this hotel! I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did but it was really a great experience! A few of my favorite things about this place: The bathrooms! I LOVED the showers! It actually inspired me to look for a similar shower in my next home. I just love the tiled look they use and how large the showers were. The water pressure was great too! Now, the water is VERY dry so bring TONS of lotion to stay moisturized but it's such a relaxing shower that it's hard to get out even when you're skin is drying up. lol I also loved the little mirror they had in the bathroom. It's hard to explain but it's basically a make up mirror that comes out of the wall and is PERFECT for someone my height and someone who needs to have a mirror close so I can put my eyeliner on properly. lol haha it's the little things! They also have breakfast! I missed it each morning BUT it's available! The location is FANTASTIC! You can walk to several dinner options, Walmart AND a mall is right up the street (and so is a liquor store...hey it was New Years Eve AND my birthday.... I'm allowed a couple of tequila shots! lol). I just really loved the ease of everything being so close by. The staff was also very friendly and I appreciated that as well! There are a few kids around this is not a pro or a con. Just an observation. :) The downsides, you can EASILY hear your neighbors...which also means they can probably hear you....so be mindful of that. We had a neighbor who LOVED to sing odd songs...it was pretty funny HOWEVER I can see how that can get really frustrating really fast. I also didn't like that it meant that i had to be mindful of my own conversations and music so as to not wake my neighbors or the kids around me. Another downside, on the day that we were checking out...we asked for a late check out and they said it would be ok. (It was New Years weekend...) However, when we woke up.... we had NO water! We tried to call the front desk but they didn't answer for about 45 MINUTES! It was a bit ridiculous. FINALLY when they did answer, they told us that the water would be shut off due to maintenance and wouldn't be on until after 4pm (which we were checking out so that didn't help). We can't really get mad because they basically were trying to fix things in between check out and check in-but it was a bit frustrating that we couldn't get anyone to answer the phones at the front desk for so long AND it was frustrating to have to brush our teeth with ice from the ice machine. lol BUT we also understand that they have to do what they had to do and they tried to schedule it during a time when they thought less people would be in the building. So I get it. However, I totally recommend this place and I plan to return. It's a simple place that has a lot to offer and for all the perks-it's worth the money! read more

This is an okay, clean hotel. I'd stay here again if convenient. The hotel feels new and clean. The people are nice. The beds are firm, which I like. My kids appreciated the free Lego minifig. I should have asked for one. The pool is a typical small, outside, hotel pool. Great for kids. The A/C fan was the loudest I've ever heard, and I stay in lots of hotel rooms. It wasn't a rattle or a vibration. It was wind noise. It'd blow your hat off. I suppose that's useful in Florida. I began to appreciate it when the kids next door were up making noise after my bedtime. Just turn the thermostat down a degree and ya can't hear a thing. This is next to legoland, so expect families to be in the room next door. The pillows are terrible. They are cheap foam pillows with a krinkly sounding and feeling plastic shell. And the pillow cases are not smooth - they were rough feeling. I'm sure I could have asked for a feather/down pillow, but I didn't. The breakfast was poor. The taste and selection wasn't great. Well, on 2nd thought, the sausage was good. They were very busy and understaffed (which was taxing on the staff) and they ran out of plates and food at one point. Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife, twins, and 4 year old. At checkout saw that we were charged for 2 adult breakfast that we never had. They tried to show a receipt that did not have my signature and acted like I was lying. The receipt did not even have a line to print the name on the room...so apparently anyone can put any room down. Furthermore I provided them the unused kids food tickets we had from check-in and the sonic receipt showing where we did eat in the morning. They removed the charges with a line on the bill that says "claimed to not eat the breakfast"... I have never been so offended at any hotel and will never stay here again. read more

AMAZING!! I recently book the Holiday Inn for a last minute Legoland trip and I couldn't have been happier I did! The entire staff at the hotel was beyond welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The hotel is very kid and family oriented yet quite and peaceful. The room was so clean, air conditioning on keeping it nice and cool waiting for us which was much needed after arriving on a warm day. The restaurant is very convenient and the food is pretty good for being a hotel restaurant, my 9year old ate the entire meal all 4 visits and he is so picky so that was enough for me! It is also very close to Legoland, 6 minute Lyft / Uber ride (which were always available within 5-10 min) and they do sell discounted parking passes there if you need one. We will gladly stay here time and time again for future visits and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good value nearby! read more

This typical Holiday Inn is tucked away in the center of town. You wouldn't know it was there for the Red Lobster and Outback Steakhouse that hide it from the hustle and bustle of Cypress Blvd. It is right at 1st Street, which leads to all things Winter Haven, and two blocks from Highway 17 which leads to more things Winter Haven. What a nice hub to the wheel of local restaurants and shopping. It would be a great place for a business traveler or salesman. After a hard day of work, park the car and walk go any franchise restaurant or local eatery desired. Want good home cooked food? The answer is on the first floor of this six story motel. Blue is a cozy restaurant and full service bar serving quality food and drink. The people are friendly, the internet works, the rooms are clean and spacious. Brought my son to Legoland, but the Legoland Hotel was uber expensive, so we settled on Holiday Inn in Winter Haven, which is only about 10 minutes from Legoland... We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was all superb, the GM (Brenda) was very friendly. Rooms are very clean, super thick pillows (if you like that). As others stated, there is a nice pool outside, tucked in the back and not near the main road or anything. The restaurant there was very good, staff friendly. Food was reasonably priced. The only one thing that I didn't like, which someone else mentioned, was the air conditioning in the room. It was LOUD. I had to keep the remote control for the TV in my hand at night because when the AC would kick on I'd have to turn the volume up big time, and then when it would kick off, I'd have to turn the volume back down, over and over and over each night so as not to wake up my son and husband who were also in the room. It would be great if they could fix that problem. But, all in all, we loved it there.... would definitely stay here again. read more

Nicely renovated. The rooms are very comfortable. The beds and pillows are nice. The receptionist desk is very welcoming. The representatives are very nice and professional. We chose Holiday Inn since Legoland Resort was not available and now we are glad we chose it. They have rooms with double beds and a couch that's kind of like a day bed bunk bed style. Meaning the part where you sit, it's a mattress and the style is like a daybed and underneath a bed that rolls out both with thick mattresses. The breakfast/dining area is nice, the staff is really nice. The sections with booths have a tv so the kids can watch the Disney channel or anything you would like to watch since they all have full cable. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend. Here's a tip, call in advance ask if there are rooms available, if you are doing a road trip, you can walk in, get a daily walk in rate of $109 a night. Only do this if you know there's availability and not in peak season. We found this out during are spontaneous road trip to Legoland from Miami. Other than that; regular rate is $139 a night.
