Edited to add: I have noticed some of the bad reviews mention paying exorbitant prices to stay here. I recommend staying flexible on your dates and staying within your budget. I shopped around for the price I wanted and paid the same price I would have paid for any moderately priced hotel. My son and I stayed at the Legoland Beach Retreat for the first time on Friday night with our friend and her son. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly overnight stay, I highly recommend this MUCH less expensive option to the main Legoland Hotel and the Pirate Hotel. We loved staying in the Pirate hotel last year, but I can definitely see the benefits to each of these hotels. Legoland Beach Retreat rooms are like little individual cabins. The rooms may be a few feet smaller than the main hotel, but it was barely noticeable. I enjoyed the peace and quiet and the nature views from our front porch. It was also very convenient to have a small playground by each room, so the kids could play within eyesight while I drank my coffee. The zero-entry pool area was perfect for families. There's a sandy "beach" area the kids can play in and a giant playground next door. There's also a full bar available for the parents. Directly next to the pool is a restaurant that serves a free breakfast, as well as lunch. (Lunch is not free.) I must mention that the chef was very friendly and accommodating to my vegan friend. We were both very pleased that the chef came out to discuss her dietary restrictions and then followed up during the meal to make sure she was happy with her breakfast. Last but not least, while there is no nightly entertainment at Legoland Beach Retreat, you can either take a free shuttle or drive across the street to the Main Hotel and partake in their kids activities/entertainment. All in all, it was a lovely hotel and we can't wait to plan our next visit.

Pros: Considerably less expensive than the legoland hotel, kids get their own bunk bed, FREE breakfast served to you (not self serve), able to use amenities of the legoland hotel, pretty good food. Cons: Although it's less expensive than the regular hotel, it's still not worth almost $400 per night. Not very clean. Wasps were taking over the patios and playgrounds. In our room the TV and the bathroom door were broken.

Great for kids and families. You can bring your own refreshment, Peppa Pig park has lots of shade, but the Water Park and Legoland main attraction not so much. Bring sun protection.

How freaking cute! I LOVED this resort. It was super roomie and clean. It definitely beat getting two hotel rooms which is what I would've had to do since I was going with my mother. The design and decor is perfect for kids. Not too overwhelming - really chill and laid back. Breakfast is included and they did a whole gluten free dairy free menu for my son yay! I will definitely be back.

My children were impressed by the ambiance of staying at the Legoland beach retreat. However, my husband and I were not happy with the very tight accommodations that came at $327 a night plus resort fees. They provide a sitting table area outside of your room as it provides a view of the no frills playground which can also be viewed from the room window. Once you open the door, you are falling into the king size bed there is no walk way or table. The bunk bed and trundle for the children are in an area the same size as a coat closet covered with a curtain. Do not expect to have privacy or intimacy as you are only a foot away from the children sleeping area. Because we were staying at a "resort" we did not expectat to have a microwave, but we would've appreciated a second sink instead of using the same sink to brush our teeth and make coffee. The positive; accommodating staff, they quickly responded to our heater in our room not working as it was and unseasonably 40 degrees out; the all you can eat breakfast buffet was adequate; room was clean; the location is across the street from Legoland.

So good to be a kid again! We enjoyed our stay here for the weekend. We are happy we took a Friday off and was able to experience the park with "off season" types of crowds. Although the bad side to that is during the week the park closes at 5:00. We went again on Saturday and had more time, since they closed at 8:00. They had a nice display of fireworks. On Saturday, we went to the water park which is inside of Legoland. So keep your tickets handy, they will be checking them again. We rented a big locker for all our items and had no problems with things. Since the kids enjoyed themselves so much we ran into lunch. They have a food place at the front of the park, which we fed 2 adults and 2 kids for less then $50. 2 adult burger and fries 2 kids meal, and beverages. The beach resort was very kid friendly. We let the kids play on the playground as we watched and sat from our room patio area. There was an addictive game of toss the ring on the hook. When you go inside the resort, don't be fooled like we were. Initially we did not see the kids space behind the curtain and only saw the king bed. The bunk beds were a hit for the kids. There is a trundle underneath the bottom bed. So we could have had 3 kids on our room if we needed to. The downside is there is only one mirror anywhere in the room which is in the bathroom. Makes getting ready in the mornings a bit harder then it needed to be. We had a blast and will probably stay at the resort again.

    I love this bed!!!

Stayed here for 6 nights. I usually stay at 4 - 5 star hotels so I have high standards. The beach houses were cute, but should have included daily housekeeping, and some other perks like lunch or dinner for the price. We purchased a package from the Lego website so my daughter could visit Peppa Pig world. It came with 2 days of multi park tickets and we ended up paying extra to add a 3rd day to enjoy the Lego water park. The restaurant on site was great for breakfast and the waitresses did a great job to accommodate us with vegetarian options. The staff would also give my daughter extra Lego mini toy bags which she loved. We enjoyed the stay, but it was just very pricey. My 4 year old daughter loved the theme of the resort.

It was a cute idea... but it just felt dirty. Maybe I just have high expectations. But for the price we paid, I better have high expectations. They don't do daily cleaning, so the floor got gross from the kids snacks and the sand they tracked in. The bathtub didn't drain--disgusting. And the sink made me want to puke while brushing my teeth. There were ants all over the place. They don't provide anyway to clean up if they're not going to do it. I should've demanded a refund on the first night, but roughed it for the next three nights. The room is seriously tiny. When we wanted to relax at night, we stuffed ourselves (5) of us on the bed to watch a movie. Not very comfortable. The pool is nice and has a cute playground. But that's now what you're there for. Save your money and stay at one of the many newly built hotels or the beautiful air bnbs there.

What is the best time of year to go here weather wise but still get to use the water park?

Are the rooms on a beachfront?

No, winter haven (the city) is not near the ocean. The pool area is "beachy" in theme but not an actual beach.

(The MAYOR Rob along with Tammy, Sam, and Cori helped us tremendously.) After arriving, the kids played in the pool, we ate dinner, and were getting everyone settled for bed when we discovered the camper we rented through RVshare was completely full of ants. We immediately panicked because it was late, we had kids with us, and we really didn't want to pack up and drive back home after already starting our weekend. That's when MAYOR Rob came to the rescue. He radioed in, and Tammy and Sam quickly showed up with a key to a cabin they had available. They helped us move our things, get everyone situated, and completely saved our Memorial Day weekend. It's rare to find people who genuinely care the way this team did. Their kindness, quick action, and willingness to help meant more to our family than they probably realize. We are beyond thankful and truly appreciative for everything they did for us. Thank you again to Rob, Tammy, Sam, and Cori for going above and beyond. This level of customer service is something special, and it's the reason we'll absolutely be back!

Saw a bald eagle and a swallow-tail kite. I'd like to tell you about that, but that's not the review. Here's the review: if you book here, you will be checking into a bizarre combination of tropical paradise, tailgate party, spring break, and a middle school playground. On St. Patrick's Day, we had been doing some sightseeing. We came back to our site, and the folks who had arrived behind us fired up their music. I don't have a problem with music or other noise prior to "quiet time," so long as it's not over the top. This was way over the top. Kim was on the phone with the nursing home about her 91-year old mother and she couldn't hear the other end of the call. We called Security and asked for help, they came around and talked to the offenders. Whereupon the offenders started yelling around "who complained about our music?" And, they sent their preteen daughters on their bicycles going around and asking "did you complain?" Let's just say it was downhill from there. They jacked the volume even more, and started taunting us. Kim lost her temper and started yelling at them to quiet down. They responded by threatening her. She told me to call security, but since they hadn't helped, and the on-duty rent-a-cop had no interest in helping, I called 911 (which the campground rules said to do in an emergency). Apparently, that was a mistake. The rent-a-cop was pissed off that we called 911 when he was supposed to already be on top of it (which he wasn't). So there was a conclave of police cars, and the night manager, and the three large guys from the offending site, etc. Bottom line: management demanded that WE leave, in half an hour, or be arrested. It's 10:30 pm, and I told the rent-a-cop that I was in no shape to drive. "Figure it out," he said, and walked away. So two 70-year olds had 30 minutes to get everything packed up and drive to some alternative place. While we were striking the site, the kids at the offending site were chanting "we won, we won." And they started playing "Hit the Road You Jack" quite loud. And the adults were yelling "we're Republicans. We can do whatever we want." They noted our Maine license plates and told us to "go back to Canada where you belong." We ended up in a wicked expensive hotel in the next town over, paying spring break prices ($340 a night!!). And we lost the cost of two nights at the campground. So if you're a party animal, this may be your kind of place. Just don't complain about anything, or you will be asked to leave. It's interesting to note which rules are enforced and which aren't. For instance, there's a poolside bar, and lots of signs between the bar and the pool saying "no food or drink beyond this point." Not only was there lots of food and drink around the pool, there were wait staff taking orders and delivering it. In retrospect, the fact that they have a rent-a-cop cruising the premises every night should have been red flag. I've never seen that before, but apparently they expect rowdiness. They just don't want to deal with the negative repercussions.

She was kind, efficient, and accommodating, especially since I was traveling with my 72-year-old mother. Jim from maintenance was also outstanding and genuinely cared about solving problems. Unfortunately, our shower dripped nonstop for the entire stay, making it difficult to sleep. Housekeeping entered our room despite our Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. The biggest issue involved our room keys. We had THREE sets that failed. I called ahead and specifically asked the front desk to make and test new keys before we returned because I didn't want to repeatedly drag my elderly mother up and down the elevator. I was assured it would be handled. It wasn't. When we arrived, the keys had been made but not tested. I had to repeatedly advocate for a very simple request. LEGOLAND Review -- A Disappointing Stay Despite the Children's Enjoyment…read more LEGOLAND was recommended to me as a place where my children could have an exciting and memorable experience. Naturally, as a parent, that was the primary reason for the visit. However, while my children did enjoy themselves, my personal experience with the resort fell noticeably short of expectations. Initially, we paid to stay at the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat area. However, our reservation was unexpectedly "upgraded" by the company without any clear explanation, prior notice, or opportunity for us to accept or decline the change. While an upgrade may sound appealing on the surface, the way it was handled felt unprofessional and dismissive. Guests should be informed of changes to their accommodations, especially when they specifically selected and paid for a particular experience. The lack of communication gave the impression that the decision was made for operational convenience rather than guest satisfaction. The hotel room itself was not bad, and to LEGOLAND's credit, the children loved the theme and atmosphere. However, the most disappointing part of the room was the shower. The water flow and pressure were extremely poor, to the point that it significantly affected my stay. What would normally take me about 15 minutes in a proper shower took nearly 25 to 30 minutes. For a theme park hotel, this is a major failure. After spending long hours outside in the heat, guests should be able to return to their room and enjoy a comfortable, refreshing shower. Unfortunately, LEGOLAND missed the mark on what should be one of the most basic and important hotel comforts. The theme park itself was decent. The children had fun, which was ultimately the main purpose of the trip. I also appreciated the refill and refresh stations throughout the park, which made it convenient for guests to get water or drinks during their visit. That was a thoughtful and practical feature, especially for families walking around in the Florida heat. The restaurants at the hotel were good overall. I was not personally a big fan of the all-you-can-eat setup, but considering the pirate theme and family-focused environment, I can understand the approach. The dining experience was not the main issue and was generally acceptable. Overall, my review of LEGOLAND is mixed. From a child's perspective, the experience may very well deserve five stars. My children enjoyed themselves, and that matters. However, from an adult and guest experience perspective, the poor communication regarding the reservation change and the unacceptable shower situation left me disappointed. Based on my personal experience, I give LEGOLAND a strong 3 out of 5 stars.

There was interest in the land because of its proximity to Disney World but when the state declared the land a critical area of concern and prohibited development the company dissolved and auctioned the hotel off in 1974. In 1978 the hotel was signed over to the nationally known religious music and drama group, the Agape Players. The made improvements and added a restaurant and ice cream parlor. They added a teaching facility and operated a Christian hotel on the upper floors. They sold the hotel when they disbanded in 1985. In the 1980's New Yorker Victor Khubani owned the hotel and changed its name to Hotel Grand. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 31, 1990. He was not able to make the code enforcement repairs necessary regarding the sprinkler system and elevator. In 1995 the hotel was sold at auction. Restoration was started but never completed. By 2008 the city of Lake Wales owned the hotel. It had been standing empty for the past three decades, destroyed by vagrants and vandals and attempts to modernize it. The hotel had acquired the nickname the Green Monster due to its garish color from years of neglect. The city contacted Ron Brown, President of Dixie WalesBilt LLC. To restore it. Brown, a former contractor promised to restore the hotel to its former glory. The city worked out a deal with Brown where they would sell him the building for $10 if he painted the building, gave $80,000 to the city, and increased the market value of the building to 1.6 million dollars in 16 months time. In June 2011 Brown assured the city he would be ready to open the north side ground floor for retail in the fall. Based on that the city gave him the hotel but fall came and went and it never opened. In 2014 community leaders came together to help Brown. Reid Hardman worked with Brown to restore the exterior of the building. The exterior was painted and the building details and window frames were restored. Since then the project has stalled. The city does not feel that Brown is quickly enough to finish the project. The city has been punishing Brown by not renewing his building permits. Brown blames the city for impeding his work but he has not secured funding for the next level of the project estimated to cost 10 million dollars. At the this point the city would like to find someone else to take over the building although Ron Brown wants to finish and open the hotel. The city and the owner are at an impasse on how to move forward. Lake Wales has the ability to reclaim the hotel through code enforcement liens and fines. As you can imagine there are quite a few cool ghost stories associated with this old hotel, people who checked but who never really checked out. Will Ron Brown ultimately get the job done? Only time will tell. This building has so much history that it would be a shame not to see this beautiful hotel restored.

The breakfast included yogurt, fresh fruits, cottage cheese, omelettes, sausage, cereals, oatmeal, grits, bagel and more. Even fresh guacamole! Soda machines and juice also included. The room was amazing and so comfortable. The lobby had games and books to borrow to bring to the room and the staff was pleasant and friendly. We didn't get to check out pool because it rained A LOT while we were there. This location is close to a lot of unique places to eat and to the little downtown area where there was a farmers market on the weekend. Great location to get to Legoland with ease as well as close by Publix and Walmart. Definitely will stay here again!

We played in the PM wave so I called around 12:30-1:00pm and asked about early check in. The young man said they have lots of requested, but would add us to the list and let us know if we could come early. Well about an hour later he called to tell us we could check in. I'd never seen the hotel before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it is perfect. The hotel is new and the room we stayed in was very large. 2 queen beds, almost a full kitchen, and a very nice bathroom. The beds are firm and nice. The breakfast starts at 7, but they started early because of the amount of kids playing sports and having to leave early. The food is good and there is a good selection of items.
