I want to give everyone who is thinking about taking or hiring this Bus service, and that is DONT, they are terrible. The drivers don't know the areas they are scheduled to go to, they are always late, their service is bad, TERRIBLE. The busses break down more frequently, the run out of fuel and have you waiting on the side of the road or in rest areas for hours. The bathrooms are not kept up, they STINK! Alot better bus services are available. JUST DONT USE HOLIDAY TOURS out of Greensboro NC They are also discrimitory and racist! You have been warned! read more

I recently chaperoned my grandson's 5th grade Washington DC trip this March 2026. We were on the 3rd bus which was driven by Mabel Jones. Ms. Mabel is the sweetest and kindest person I've ever met. She was so kind and just an all-around funny person to be around. The ride was so smooth and enjoyable. It takes a special person to do what she does, and she is fantastic at it. I recently took my first and last trip with Holiday Tours. I booked the NC Lighthouse tour as it had a very unique itinerary of seeing all seven lighthouses on the Outer Banks. But as you can see from my photos, we only saw six of the seven lighthouses on the itinerary. I was hesitant to book as the company is not very specific in its tour descriptions and fails to list the hotels we'd be staying at but I took a chance. We either got a really bad tour guide or Holiday Tours is really awful at organizing tours. My tour started being picked up at one of the listed stops but the bus was late as the rest of the tour group including the tour guide stopped at Bojangles rather than picking me up on time or even greeting me. I also did not get the opportunity for breakfast like the others did. I was not greeted or even checked in when the guide returned to the bus from Bojangles either. This should have been my first clue of how the rest of the trip was to go. Masks were to be worn on the bus but that was not enforced and many didn't comply. We were to see and visit the seven lighthouses on the Outer Banks. I did assume these stops would be happening in the daylight hours and not at 9pm but I was clearly mistaken. The guide decided that we'd get an early dinner 5-ish after having a late lunch at 2pm. So by the time the whole group finished as we had a 45 minute wait to be seated, the sun had already set and we drove up the Outer Banks in the dark, missing the beautiful views and then arrived to the sixth lighthouse of the trip, Bodie Lighthouse at 9pm for pictures in the dark. The group did not vote for the early dinner and we had been told earlier that we'd be eating after visiting the lighthouse. The bus driver even found places in Manteo for us to eat at several restaurants close by to each other so we could split up. I understand that food was not available anywhere close to the Corolla hotel but there were plenty of restaurants on the drive up to the hotel that could be seen in the dark with the neon signs that we wouldn't have had to miss the lighthouse in the daylight hours and could have eaten afterwards. What made this even more frustrating was that most of the lighthouses we stopped at were closed and this was one of the few open ones that we could have climbed and walked around. Then on our last day, Bodie Island was a short drive (25 minutes) from the Wright Brothers Memorial that we could have stopped before or afterwards. We had to drive that way anyway to get on Rt 64 to return so it would have just been 10 minutes further to drive. There is no excuse as to why we didn't not stop to see the sixth lighthouse in the daylight. We were penalized for the tour guide's bad decision. This was the second time this particular tour was offered so it seems it should have been known that a three hour stop at Bald Head Island was way too long when there was very little to see there, the lighthouse and a gift shop. The driving had a lot of backtracking as well so that makes me think nobody from Holiday Tours that planned this trip personally went to these places; took the ferries; or drove the route. This could have been an amazing trip if better organized and planned. I'm not sure what the tour guide had to work with but she seemed very disorganized and unprepared as she was just reading the tour notes on the bus that first morning of the tour and complaining she was assigned as she was to have gone to Pennsylvania. But seeing that our final documents weren't even mailed to a week before the trip had one of the hotels listed wrong, I'd say a lot the problems are with Holiday Tours. However, the company did not decide for us to miss the 6th lighthouse. The return time was three hours early so we could have stayed longer at Wright Brother Memorial or seen more places on the final day or gone to the missed lighthouse. I also would not have needed to pay for another hotel night had I know we'd be back at 6pm instead of 9pm. The driver was nice enough to load my luggage in my car so at least the tour ended on a nice note. This was just a poorly planned trip and so disorganized. Other companies are more professional and we see the whole itinerary. This was an expensive trip for what was missed out on from four lighthouse being closed and one open one being skipped. Holiday Tours will not get my business again. read more

As a grandparent chaperone for a Mount Vernon/Washington, DC trip with fifth graders from Huntsville Elementary in Madison NC, I enjoyed a safe and comfortable trip with driver, Mr. Mitch Haywood. He was a highly professional driver with a safety-first mindset but had a kid friendly personality. The students enjoyed his changing of colorful lights with cool appropriate music, Party in the USA! Mr. Haywood consistently enforced the seatbelt rules and encouraged them to keep the bus clean. As we were touring for extended periods of time, he was explicit in giving directions of where and what time he would be meeting us to continue to the next stop on our itinerary. Mr. Haywood was very accommodating when we discovered some areas closed due to renovations. Mr. Haywood's knowledge of the area was quite beneficial. Our trip was a most relaxing and pleasant way to enjoy learning about our nation's history as we enjoyed its beauty! I will be happy to recommend Holiday Tours to schools and churches, especially with driver, Mitch "Bama fan" Haywood!! read more

I'm on a tour today, with dinner included and my husband and I did not get the full meal. I must say our table was served last and major of the table was black. One white couple sat there cause that was the only sitting left. I have been on trips with this company before and had a great time, today I feel some type of way. read more

On May 11, my mom, cousin and I traveled to Washington DC on the African American Heritage tour. I was so excited as I hadn't been to DC since a fifth grade field trip many moons ago. We pulled out of Greensboro a little past the scheduled time of 6:30. Our driver Mitchell was one of the best drivers I've ever rode with. Our tour guide/hostess, Kim was an angel. She was very sweet and tried to make the trip fun- showing movies-including "Black Panther" and "Meet Dave", passing out candy/gum and playing games such as BINGO and "Who Said This"-a black history/quote guessing game. There were some malfunctions with the microphone and the dvr player- but that was no one's fault. The ride was smooth and very enjoyable. The trip was great, but there were 2 issues I had that had nothing to do with Mitchell or Kim. T 1. The tour needs to be revamped in order to allow participants more time to see other sites in the city. Due to traffic and time constrictions, we didn't get to tour Frederick Douglass' church, Howard University, Ben's Chili Bowl (I wanted to try one of their famous chili dogs) or the Mary McLeod Bethune house. At least we got to drive PAST those sites and I was able to snap pics with my phone. I would like to be able to take my time at these places, so I will be returning to Washington next year on a self-guided tour. 2. Holiday should consider partnering with a different host hotel. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tyson's Corner and it was quite an experience. Not good to say the least. My mom and I were sharing a suite, but when we opened the door, it was only one bed. I'm 42 years old and I'm not sharing a bed with my mom-especially after we chose the 2 bed option in the tour package. The young lady at the desk claimed that there wasn't a 2 bed option chosen in the reservation and had a rather nasty and dismissive attitude. When we threatened to contract corporate, the song changed quickly and we were re-assigned to a new room. Later that night, because we were tired from the day, we decided to forego traveling to the mall across the street for dinner, and opted to try the restaurant in the hotel. BIG MISTAKE. Apparently, there were only 3 employees working- the bartender who was doubling as a waiter and server, 1 cook, and another hostess, who had to vacillate between the dining room, bar and the front desk. Before we could order, Betty (our waitress/bartender/server) took back the original menus and gave us an abbreviated version-omitting the ribs, salmon and quite a few of the other entrees- leaving basically a burger, fish sandwich, a few salads and kid's chicken tenders. Mom and I settled on 2 burgers. I asked for my onions to be grilled, but either the waitress or the cook forgot or just didn't care. After an almost hour wait, it didn't really matter anymore. When the burgers finally came out, they were on some really dry, tough ciabatta rolls, and tasted 1 grade above school cafeteria fare. The steak fries were good, though. Sadly, several patrons actually left because of the long wait time. Our Holiday drivers table was among those that gave up. Bless their hearts. read more

On May 12, I drove to Level Cross to take a 3 day Holiday Tour of Savannah, GA. I have traveled with Holiday for several years and, until this trip, had a wonderful time. As soon as I got to my seat, I knew I had a problem. My seat was stuck in the reclining position. I notified the tour guide, Pat, immediately. She tried to upright it, but couldn't. She got the driver to try, he said that the seat had been broken and it was soldered in that position. Pat told me to use a pillow behind me. I had not brought one, I am short and knew I was not going to be comfortable for a 5+ hour drive. The tour was full so there was no empty seat, except for the one next to Pat. My back was in spasms the next morning. Since Pat had the seating chart and had gotten all our cell phone numbers, I asked her if she could find another passenger to trade places with me, since several had enjoyed their rides in the reclining position. She told me I could ask anyone I want! Then she told me that I was in the wrong seat, that my friend who I was traveling with, was assigned that seat. When I called to book the trip, I told them she needed the window seat because she had a bad knee and wanted to sit so I wouldn't bump it. My friend is as short as I am so that seat would not have worked for her either. I had hoped to see Savannah, but with my back pain, when we had time to do what we wanted, I had to sit or lie down. The ride home was just as miserable. I hoped with rest my pain would go away, but it did not. I saw two doctors and ended up needing 6 weeks of physical therapy, which diminished the pain, but has not gotten rid of it. I contacted Holiday who offered me a $25 gift off my next trip. I tried contacting their Customer Relations person, Christian Clark, who wanted me to phone her, even though I told her emailing was easier with my work schedule. I did try phoning 4 times, but she was not there any of them. In one email correspondence, she told me they would also reimburse me if I had bought a pillow for my back. I was on a bus trip - no car - and I wouldn't have known where there was a store. This is part of an email from her, "As soon as we got your letter we checked the seat, the seat isn't broke. I'm sorry that the seat reclined more than you liked. We value our customers and want to do what we can to make sure our customers are happy." YES that seat reclined more than I liked! My final email (October 6) asked for an apology for the broken seat, and for not asking someone to switch with me, and my money back ($639). I never heard from them again. read more

Book your bus trip through holiday tours!!!! My husband and I threw a huge party over the course of a weekend in Greensboro and almost all of our 170 guests were from out of town. Tony and John were our bus drivers for the weekend to both of the events we had and they were AMAZING! Booking the busses was easy and Holiday Tours was willing to work with us on a price and schedule that fit our needs. When the weekend finally arrived we could not have been happier. Tony and John were sweet, chill, and professional. The busses were clean, on time, and the whole experience was better than we could have ever expected. Thank you Holiday Tours!!! Terrible experience & interaction with company. For one week prepaid tour (1300.00) the first words out of the tour directors mouth were that the toilets would not be emptied! All included restaurants below average, service objectionable and director did not 'go to bat'. On return ride splashed with refuse from full toilet tank & bus reeked during return ride. Would have left tour at first announcement had I not ridden to boarding point with others. Company refused written complaint & refund request and refused written copy of refusal. Several other passengers had even more complaints than I raised in complaint letter. Never again! read more

I was one of 48 people on a Holiday Tours trip to Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard 9/17/17- 9/23/17..due to Hurricane Jose which had been forecast for several weeks we did not see Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard...this trip should have been cancelled or rescheduled...for a company in business almost 40 years they had no contingency plans for us. We were asked to give back the ferry tickets for Nantucket even though we had paid for them...I am assuming someone wanted to sell them again...we did not give the tickets up- they are good for a year....by Wednesday night almost everyone wanted to cut the trip short and come home...but we were told we had to be 100% in agreement and we had a couple of holdouts..so on Thursday morning my sister-in-law and I rented a car and came home...This is my first and last bus trip...I feel that since half of our trip was cancelled we should be reimbursed part of our money..I did send a letter to Holiday Tours and I have filed a complaint with the BBB...I paid a lot for this trip and was very disappointed and disappointed in the company I booked with...they don't care about customer service only the all mighty dollar......so future trip takers - beware..... I was on one of the buses that went to cherooke nc and one of the drivers started going to sleep while driving us back. It was really a bumpy ride. The hostess was sleepy to. She was not keeping the driver awake by talking to him. read more
