Great trail for walking, running, walking the dogs or riding a bike. The Old Salem section of the Strollway is a 5 star. The trail takes you right past Old Salem. You will pass right by the Old Salem Visitors Center and the Heritage Bridge. You can cross over the street using the bridge and visit Old Salem if you like. The trail in this section is wide enough for all people coming and going. If you follow the Strollway south you will end up at the Greenway, which you can take to Winston-Salem State or Salem Lake to the west, or Washington Park to the east, but that is another review. You do have to cross over a busy street (Salem Avenue) but there is a nice wine shop on the other side. The northern route past Old Salem takes you to downtown and ends at 4th Street. This takes you under Business 40 and past Corpening Plaza park. Nice part of this section is you end up right into the heart of all of the downtown restaurants on 4th Street. This section requires crossing 3 streets in downtown. The only reason I don't have the Strollway rated 5 stars is the section running under Business 40 can be a little sketchy. This will change after the Business 40 renovations are completed.

The owners were tending bar, and they had an awesome musician and a food truck (side chicks). We went for two flight/tastings, which came with five 1.5 ounce pours of your choice. We opted for three whites (Sauv Blanc, Viognier, and Riesling) and all the reds (Merlot, Montepulciano, Chambourcin, cab Sauvignon, and a couple of blends (including a meritage). They are in the process of releasing a new Monte/nebbiolo blend, which I'm thrilled we were able to try. All the wines were delightful, but I was particularly fond of the mystique (Chambourcin), meritage, and the cab. There is a large offering of over 20 varieties. One of the current owners led our tasting and gave us detailed explanations of the history and thought process behind each wine. There are 11 wines that were the original Autumn Creek wines and then the new owners have added some new wines and new blends under the label Gioia dell'Amore Cellars. We liked all of the wines that we tasted. Our favorites were the Diamond Girl White & Red Blends and the Embrace Meritage red blend. After our tasting we purchased a bottle of Diamond Girl Red to enjoy on property. Outside the tasting room are a large deck and a brick patio with sweeping views of grapevines, a pond, a waterfall, a gazebo, a covered area and an event venue (where an anniversary party was taking place). It made for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.

The tour hits the perfect balance between lively and laid-back. You can bring your own drinks, stop at great local bars and breweries, and enjoy the ride with friends, or make a few new ones along the way. The setup works just as well for small groups as it does for celebrations, making it perfect for birthdays, work outings, or any excuse to have a good time. If you are new to the city or just visiting this is a great way to explore and learn. I've gone for my own birthday, for friends' birthdays, work trip and even just for fun, every single time has been a blast. Note that you have the option to peddle and drink and that the seats are unique and you will need to wear a seatbelt. They do offer to seats on a bench if you would prefer a more riding experience. If you're looking for something a little different, grab your favorite drinks, gather your crew, and hop aboard Brew Peddlers. And if you can, ask for Will, he's the best.
