SMG is amazing! From start to finish, they are one of the best companies to work with in Chicago! They are very professional and helpful in the initial decision-making, an ordering process. The measurement and installation professionals could not have done a better job! They are timely and efficient and have the most competitive pricing I have ever seen. Nothing about the process was described accurately. Was told they measure once and then a one day install for counter and backsplash. Both were measured and installed seperately. Also took 3 weeks to measure the counter top when we were told everything would happen within one week. 2 of the 5 electrical cutouts on the backsplash were not to size. One too large and one too small. Owner also said "we use longer screws" when asked about the electrical and wall plates which implied they finish those for you. Installers said they never do that. We did a complete kitchen remodel, bottom to top. Gutted the entire kitchen and started from scratch. We also patched and painted 60% of the house and replaced all of the carpeting. Even though we live in a very modest home, cost was not a consideration. This was the first remodel we had done since purchasing the house 32 years ago qand we have no intention of moving. We wanted things done right and the way we wanted it. It was supposed to be our "dream kitchen". We subcontracted the entire project ourselves. Every contractor we chose was doing a great job and met all of our expectations. That is, until the SMG installers showed up. That is when our dream kitchen turned into a nightmare. They cut the opening in the granite for the sink incorrectly TWICE. Scratched/gouged our new, custom built, handmade amish cabinets, while removing and reinstalling the dishwasher. This is an even bigger deal since we asked both Matthew and Patryk at SMG if we should leave the dishwasher out for the countertop install. They both said to leave it in. The installers said there was no way they could install the contertops with the dishwasher in place. Also, they pull the new toe kick board off of the sink cabinet and took a chip out of it and broke the gas line to the stove and left it. They told my wife, "just leave the gas turned off until you can get a plumber out here to replace the gas line." The installers also left a mess from cutting out the opening for the sink. They did it in the house with the countertop in place. Patryk was contacted the FIRST time the granite was cut incorrectly. He offered to buy us a new sink to see if it would work. It did not fit. He said he wanted to send his installers out to take a look. I gave him very detailed information to help him and his installer understand what they were dealing with. My wife asked if Patryk would be coming along to see asses the situation and make sure things would be taken care of this time. He said he was to busy with other customers to come out. Keep in mind, this is after SMG already had our check in hand since we didn't catch the mistake the installers made the first time. My wife said her stomach turned when the installers showed up the second time and it was the same 2 guys. They got to work, totally disregarding everything Patryk and I discussed in order for the install to go more smoothly the second time around. The cut the countertop incorrectly AGAIN. This time, the sink fit in the opening. However, they left just 1/16" on both sides for the sink to be sealed to the countertop. The sink instructions require 5/16". Also, they cut the granite flush with the inside of the cabinet. Now, the cabinet had to be routed out to make space for the sink clips. All of these concerns were addressed with Patryk BEFORE these clowns came out the second time. All of this made the sink install a nightmare for the plumber. Which, by the way, he would not guaranty the sink will not leak water between it and the countertop since the SMG installers left virtually no countertop for him to seal to. Again, Patryk was contacted with our grievances about his installers. His response was to cash the check he said he would hold on to "until we were completely satisfied." we have not heard back from anyone at SMG since the check was cashed. Stanley's Marble & Granite gave me exceptional service from the start to theinstallation. JoAnna was very exceptional in assisting us with purchasing the quartz for the newly installed bathroom in the basement. She wasn't pushy and tagged what we said we wanted with our name. She offered to hold it for a week while we looked around. When we came back JoAnna was still very accommodating when we changed the color. She retagged the one we wanted. The guy came out to measure on Wednesday, April 19th and JoAnna called me if an exact price which was comparable with the others prices. The next day, she requested only half of the payment, however I paid the full amount. Stanley called me Monday, April 25th to install the quartz for Tuesday but I had a doctor's appointment. They then called me on Tuesday, April 26th to do installation on Wednesday between 10 and noon. I informed them I had a therapy appointment at noon. They promised to be finished by 11:30. I said okay. They arrived early at 9:15 and was finished by 10:30. Stanley did an excellent job with the installation. Kudos to Stanley and JoAnna for their exceptional service. They were very thorough in taking measurements and making sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. This review has been a long time coming. While I was initially extremely satisfied with the customer service and pricing from Stanley's for my first ever kitchen remodel, that came to a halt when they opted to only use 2 of the necessary 3 slabs of granite that were agreed upon for my kitchen remodel. The end result is a very noticeable seal directly in the center of my breakfast bar. This was over 3 years ago and it still remains the very first thing my eyes are drawn to every single time I walk in my kitchen. When I immediately called the store as it was being installed, Matt assured me it would blend and I would never notice anything. When I asked why they decided to use scraps rather than the 3rd slab we agreed on, he said it was too costly for them. I trusted his opinion and let them install the 2 scraps as my focal point of my kitchen (I have regretted this decision ever since). I guess you live and you learn. I would never recommend them to anyone for this very costly mistake I had to pay for. read more

Went to SMG in Bridgeview Il. on a recommendation from my brother, who is a contractor, and I'm glad i did. I checked other granite places but SMG is by far the best. Their prices are very competitive. Matt went out of his way to ensure that I would get exactly what we wanted. They have a huge showroom for counter tops with complete sink and cabinet display so you can get a good feel for the finished product. They also have in the main display room floor and back splash tiles in numerous styles. Count on spending an hour in each room. They carry Blanco granite composite sinks, which we got, in many colors to match your counter tops, also faucets, cabinets knobs/handle whatever you need. Francisco, their installer was amazing in what he does. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. I was very impressed, neat, clean and placed drop clothes to protect my house. From the showrooms, laser measuring, installation, quality of the granite and their employees SMG are true professional craftsman. The end product is the proof! I was impressed when I went to pick out the marble. However, it went down hill from there. Matthew was willing to do everything that we asked. The remodeler, who recommended Stanley's, told Matthew that there was a deadline. It was not problem on Monday. Got an email on Friday, saying they weren't done but would be ready on Monday. We were out of town, hence the deadline. We made an appointment for the Monday after we returned. They installed the counter top. I was told that the back splash and other pieces would be left. They were not. I called and they 'needed to be cut.' They came with the some pieces which were different thickness and not beveled. They had to be recut again. Matthew started yelling at me as he was losing money on the job. If it were done properly in the first place he wouldn't have lost money. The work was excellent but I will never use them again. I was also offered 'free cleaner for my trouble' - never got that either. read more
