Finding the right house was not easy! With everything going on it was critical to see houses asap…read moreand make sure we were updated with the available houses that met our criteria. Mathew was there every step of the way. We found a few houses and made a couple offers. Mathew was great at making sure that we were putting in competitve offers without having to just increase our price! He was also there when the mortgage broker that we decided to go with bailed on us. If it wasn't for Mathew and his connections we would not have gotten a mortgage in time for the house we finally found and had an offer accepted on. He was able to call in a favor with a competing mortgage broker to get our horrible mortgage broker to finish things up in time. If you want to find your perfect house and you want to navigate through the epic task of finding, offering, negotiating, and closing with someone that knows the area, has brilliant connections, and is an overwhelmingly pleasant person then call Mathew. My wife and I are eternally grateful for what he did for us. Thank you Mathew!

He was very knowledgeable about the different areas and very easy to work with and hopefully in the near future will help us purchase the perfect home. I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy a property in the Portland area, more so since we are out of state and depended on a solid real estate professional !!

Jim and his staff were dishonest in their dealings with our family, putting us into a situation…read morewhere we were without a home a month before my husband's tour of duty in Iraq was even completed. It was a subordinate of Jim's who misrepresented important facts, but Jim refused to do anything about it, escalating the situation instead of working with us to right the wrongs committed by his associate. In May 2013, my children and I moved from our duty station overseas back home to Oregon, while my husband went to serve an unaccompanied tour in Iraq. We were expecting an August 2014 move-out date. When we arrived in Oregon, we arrived at lease signing and were presented with a lease with an end of May 2014 move-out date. Jim's associate told us it was a standard one year lease that would go month-to-month at the end of that time, leading us to believe that this would cover us until August. Soon after we moved in, neighbors told us the owners of the home planned to return to the home in summer 2014. I contacted Orenco and was told me the landlords were now unsure of their plans. I gave Orenco the benefit of the doubt, that they did not have or know this information upon lease signing. I begged for them to firm up August 2014 with the landlords. Orenco came back with a June 30 move-out via e-mail. In November, we were notified that the owners of the home had a change of plans and wanted their house back in January 2014. We agreed to move at their expense. We asked for everything promised during phone calls to be put in writing (having already gotten burned on this when moving in). Upon asking for all in writing, the owners "decided to not move forward" with the plan. A few hours later I received a call from Orenco, on December 3, telling us that the June 2014 move-out would not be honored because "we didn't sign anything." I told them "e-mail counts!" and they backed off. From that point forward, repairs previously handled immediately, were dragged out. All benefit of the doubt I previously had given to Orenco went out the door. We wrote to Orenco upset, asking them to forward the e-mail to the landlords. During this conversation, the landlords clearly stated that a one-year lease is all they ever authorized and Orenco replied to them "never was August in the cards." At this point, we forwarded an e-mail where we showed that we asked for an August move-out date weeks before lease signing. We felt misled. We were upset, Orenco become defensive and Jim specifically even more so, only responding with what we had signed and not at all addressing the lies told to our family. We had to move from our home before my husband has even completed his tour of duty in Iraq, which was ending in July 2014 and was supposed to be followed by several weeks of home leave with us in Oregon. We moved out June 30, 2014. Orenco sent two people to inspect the property and upon completion signed a move-out inspection stating that the house was in same condition as upon move-in, except family room carpet to which we fully agreed, accepted and had repair quotes ready from the highest rated repair person in the area (via Angie's list). We put a lot of good-faith effort into going above and beyond to make the house move-in ready for the owners, just so we could easily move on from this horrible experience with Orenco and the landlord and get our deposit back. We also paid for professional house and carpet cleaning and Orenco's own repair guy to patch and paint any picture holes or anything else needing it. Orenco agreed, via a signed move-out inspection, that the house was in fantastic shape and our deposit would be returned minus carpet repair for the one spot. Later that day, Orenco called stating a small light pink stain was in the living room. Because we had a red Persian carpet covering that floor until just a couple days before the inspection and it was brought to our attention same day, we agreed. A week later, Orenco tried to back out of the signed move-out inspection, adding in more and more supposed problems, including remains of a bathroom drain leak in the wall which we did not see until pointed out at inspection and Orenco agreed at that time it was not our fault and we would not be held responsible. Apparently, signed documents are only relevant when in their favor. We had to fight to get any of our money back. I have a letter from the cleaner who did the final cleaning stating that a) beyond the two agreed upon carpet stains, there were absolutely NO OTHER stains, b) that the owners returned to the home while the carpet was wet walking around on it with dirty shoes, were asked to stop and refused, and c) a discussion occurred, in front of our cleaner, between landlord and Orenco looking for ways to keep our deposit. I have an e-mail from Orenco's own repair person verifying a shower leak problem existed from previous tenant, and we had to get them to fix slow draining sinks upon move in.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE GUYS. when I say RUN I mean RUN. Not only is Chloe extremely disrespectful,…read morerude, and just genuinely should NOT be working in any position where she talks to people, but they will literally ignore every single maintenance request, any kind of privacy concerns (like having the owner of the actual property showing up in my backyard looking through my windows at any given time that he wants to) yeah you read that right. They did nothing to keep that from happening either. They just let people show up un announced at any given time so if you have kids deffinitly don't rent from them because youll wake up at 5am to a crane setting roofing on your roof waking up both your kids because they decided that was okay. Again. With zero notice. .They just do what ever they want when ever they want to with ZERO regard for you. They have no respect and then they will also try and keep every single penny that you gave them for a deposit. As it states on their website If you pay a cleaning fee in the beginning you will not be charged again for the cleaning fee at the end of move out (APPARENTLY THATS A LIE) which tbh i fully expected them to try and pull some shady crap so I went ahead and paid a professional company $650 for a move out clean. Everything in that house was spotless and they're still trying to charge me $750 for "excessive dirt" which is funny because that place was literally spotless I have the receipts, pictures, and even video proof. They cannot and will not provide me with pictures of this supposed "excessive dirt" theyalso stated that after a 3 year lease mind you that there was apparently excessive "paint dammage" which i know for a fact is not true because again, pictures, videos that I took before leaving the keys on the counter as I walked out for the last time. They also can't provide picture evidence of this apparent "excessive paint dammage" they then tried to call me and tell methey were willing to give me $700 of my $3200 dollar deposit back instead of the $200 and something they originally stated was the case. Our attorney is putting the case together now and they will be dealing with him shortly. But to save yourself from the extreme headache and stress that they will cause you. Just run the other way. Rent from anyone else. They're hands down theworst managment company I've ever rented from. Im glad to have finally bought a home so I no longer have to deal with places like this. They're just here to rob you. So RUN. Tmg is great though! I had nothing but great experiences with tmg.
