We approached this shop and it was all roped off. Big sign: We do not rent. A guy came out, what do you want? We'd like to come inside and look around. We like to get little things for our bikes. To my military community, I recently just moved to Coronado. taking my e-bike to Holland bike shop Suggested I needed a brake pad replaced on both tires. I have a rod power do, A few weeks later, I was having problem with my Ebike it was never resolved. Rod power bike dealer stated that they replaced the brake pad with a different size. What started out as a sucky day because I snapped something on another bike turned into an excellent day thanks to Holland's bicycles! I decided after this morning's mishap it was time for a new mountain bike. I searched Yelp for great rated bike shops and found Holland's. I searched their inventory of models on line which was very descriptive and a wide range and settled on a kind I liked. I called to see if they had it in stock- they didn't but when I explained kind of what I was wanting they were able to find an equivalent bike already assembled and in-shop! Even in cute colors!!!!! They held the bike for me and I drove over to pick it up. They had it ready to go and I added some accessories with them able to install in less than ten minutes. They were SO FRIENDLY and KNOWLEDGEABLE! I appreciate that they had the shop locked down and they happily brought multiple options of every accessory I wanted to the front door. The sales machine they rolled over to the front too so I didn't even have to go in! Nice way to keep us all healthy during the pandemic! After I rode into the sunset (not really but to my SUV), I went back home and immediately went on a 2 hour ride around Otay Lake- the bike handles the trails like a champ! BEACH CRUISING One simple thing I never done was ride a beach cruiser. So, time to do it. It's a SD thing so might as well be in the moment. And The Infamous Lighter Shade of Brown song starts to play.... "Sittin in the park on a Sunday afternoon. Me and the CRew just jamming the oldie tunes" We came here mid day on a hot Sunday afternoon and was able to secure our cruisers. Rental prices was fair $20 for 4hrs (obviously we didn't ride for that long). Plenty of cruisers for all people. I got the cute bike amongst everyone (sky blue and pink) and we were able to add baskets to our bikes - yah know just trying to get the full experience as possible!!! Didn't choose the 12 mile ride and just freely road around Coronado like a bunch of tourists and blasting the pill with 90s jams and acting silly trying not to run over people's ankles. Who knew riding cruisers would be SO MUCH FUN. "Well the sun was set and it began to get dark and we were getting ready to leave the park. We had a good time. Yeah we had a good day. The store has good inventory, is authorized Specialized retailer, and Jacob helped rush a build as I drove down from LA to pick up my bike. Not only did they speed up the work order, but also checked in with me on the phone every few hours, and took their time explaining everything and fitting the bike when I arrived. I've experienced plenty of annoyed and bored LBS employees and owners, so the experience at Holland's was a drastic change from my expectations. I've also had problems with a couple of parts, and the team - including Jacob and Kate, has gone above and beyond to order the pieces and save my time during install. It's been above and beyond warranty service. The only drawback is how hard it may be to reach them sometimes, but that may be a byproduct of being a small shop with passionate folks who are stretched thin in the bike demand of the pandemic. I'd recommend the shop if you live in SD area; after all I mentioned driving down from LA for them, didn't I? read more

The young black gentleman (my late husband of 29 years was a black man) was extremely RUDE and spoke very "monotone" never gave any eye contact, I asked if a military discount was offered , Quickly responding again in a rude monotone voice Absolutely not once looked up at me. Yes I was greatly offended and insulted by this time. I slammed my credit card and Nevada ID on the counter. Then he raised his voice and said. "I'm going to have someone else help you" my response was "yes please do" he then told me "maam" don't yell at me" really he was the one whom raised his voice at me. Didn't buy a bike but I'll be coming back as soon as stock on bikes aren't impacted by COVID. Service was amazing. Spoke with two different guys on our visit and both were super insightful. Even though it was a very busy day for them, they took the time to explain details of each bike we inquired about and made suggestions on bikes we should look into. One of the guys went as far to tell us which bikes was sufficient for the type of use we were planning so as to insure we didn't buy more than what we needed. This is the mark of a great sales person. In comparison, we went to a local Trek store and got the Pretty Woman treatment (#IYKYK). Their prices are the same as the main brand bike stores so no worries there. Visited two other big bike stores to check and their prices were the same. Solid service. Had a brake issue happen unexpectedly on my road bike making it un-rideable. Called around and most shops could not get me in for 3-4 weeks. Called Holland's and they understood my situation and got me in the next day. Dropped it off first thing and was back riding that afternoon. The service part of the shop is super convenient too. Purchased a new bicycle today (a white color Electra Cruiser Lux 3i, 24-inch) and was extremely happy with the entire experience and exceptional customer service! I called the day prior to inquire about a specific-size bike we were looking for, and the gentleman (co-worker of Jacob, I believe) was also truly awesome and professional and super helpful and provided all the information, colors, models, inventory in stock, and prices of what they carried on hand that matched what we were looking for. For today's visit, Jacob was able to show me the available 24-inch Cruiser type bikes they had, and thoroughly explained all the specifications, features, advantages and disadvantages, etc. of each model. He (and the entire staff) are extremely knowledgeable, highly experienced (in bikes and in customer service), very courteous, professional, friendly, and super affable, and thus the choosing and buying a new bike had been a most wonderful experience for me, and it left a great impression! I am a "boss" myself to workers and do understand the importance and value of ensuring your workers provide the best customer service possible to anyone, and thus that struck a very positive chord with me, and Jacob (and staff) at Holland's Bicycles all deserve great praise (or promotions?)! Not sure how to rate this one??? They were the only shop in San Diego to have the part I required. Left bike for over an hour, returned and not repaired, another technician said, give me 10 minutes and I'll have it done so you will not have to return tomorrow. He repaired the bike at a reasonable rate and I left. First technician kinda odd guy. If they are the only game in town I guess I would return. NOT A TRUSTWORTHY BUSINESS! I was super excited to purchase a used ElliptiGo 8C from a private party. I purchase the ElliptiGo and immediately dropped it off at Hollands (the only "certified" ElliptiGo repair shop) to repair some known broken items, replace the tires and tune up. I WAS satisfied with the work completed and price. What I am upset about is they broke the kickstand while completing the repairs and didn't say anything or fix what they broke. I know for a fact that the kickstand was in working order because the ElliptiGo was outside standing on its own when I purchased it & the previous owner showed me how to use the kickstand. I drove from Alpine to Coronado to pick up my ElliptiGo. The employee that brought out my ElliptiGo parked it in Holland's bike rack (should have checked it). I was too excited to get my new treasure home and didn't check the kickstand. I now have to order a new kickstand ($48.09) and I will figure out how to install it myself. I no longer trust this repair shop. read more

Picked up 2 hybrid bike rentals here for a half day. Great rental rates and options. Bikes are in great conditions. The staff was easy going and everything was really straight forward. You can get a basket and/or a helmet for the ride. My riding skill is somewhere beginning-intermediate and I did an 8-mile round trip. The ride was pretty comfortable along the silver strand's Bayshore bikeway! We returned within 4 hours and was prorated. Highly recommended! read more

Guys at Holland's are absolutely fantastic. I've been a customer for a few years now and my experience is nothing but stellar. The customer service is great - Bojac, Joe, Tyler (just to name a few) and all the other folks as well are always doing a fantastic job. My most recent experience was a warranty claim for a cracked carbon frame on my Trek Checkpoint gravel bike and Joe took care of everything. I got pretty much a new bike in about 2 weeks. Tyler did an awesome job on the rebuild as always. I don't understand the negative reviews bellow, as all the people from biking community that I know, have only positive experience with these guys. As a bike enthusiast I'm really thankfull that I have a shop like this in my town, it's truly a place where I'm always met with friendly attitude and a lot of good advices. I went to look at some Ebikes over the last few weeks. I stopped in most of the well known bike shops in San Diego. Nobody came close to the customer service, attitude and overall knowledge of hollands. This place barely had standing room when I came in they were so busy. They instantly said hello and said they would be right with me, they walked me through options and had answers to all my questions, they showed me on the computer exactly what they had in stock and what sizes. The bike I wanted was at another location. They were able to send me a link to purchase from home on a Friday night and had my bike there, assembled, set up for me by Saturday afternoon. The problem is the service department when it comes to warranty work. Being told to bring in our bikes and leave them for over a week was not acceptable. I see a lot of great reviews of Holland's. Right up until today I was one of those people. I'm a long time resident of our wonderful little city (10+ years), and my family and I have bought many bikes and accessories over those years at Holland's. What we really loved was not just being able to support a local store, but also the fact that they backed up their bikes with free service and basic tune ups. Today, we brought our daughters bike into the store to get serviced. She had a flat tire, and while we were there we asked for a tune up. We also decided to get a new bike helmet for her to replace the one we had bought there a few years ago. My wife spent almost 80 dollars on that, and then they let us know while buying it that our tune up was going to cost 78 dollars! We told them that we are long time customers, and our agreement(which was their standard agreement for everyone buying a bike) when we bought our bikes there, and their response was that there are new owners and the owners no longer honor that arrangement. I completely understand having to pay for parts, and I completely understand when something like a tire breaks we need to pay for that, but when I purchased the bike (and not a cheap bike at that), one of the major reasons I did that was to get that free local service. I get if the new owners want to change a policy on new purchases, but to completely change policies on current patrons of their store is a real let-down. I will continue to support local businesses over larger brand stores, but Holland's will not be one of them sadly. I hope that tune up fee was worth it! read more

I needed a new fattio tire for an Electra cruiser on one of the busiest weekends of the entire year. Went online and ordered the tire they supposedly had in stock- to be delivered on a Sat morning. I needed the tire to be on that bike that morning as we wouldn't be driving anywhere the whole weekend. I sent an email voicing my concerns and Holland's called me back to address them. Friday morning they called, apologizing they weren't going to get the tire in- but they could put another on and suggested I might like it better. Allowed me to drop the bike off that afternoon, and were able to get the bike finished before the offered time on Sat morning. Super friendly and helpful from start to finish! Might be in the market soon for a couple new beach cruisers- I know where I'm going! read more
