Wow. I've known about this place for a while but never found the urge to get off my duff and go check it out. Now that I have a 2.5 yr old daughter I'm out of excuses. Excellent, excellent park. Did I say excellent? Playground equipment galore for all ages, paved trails, wonderful rock garden and the trails down to the river along with lookout points are great. Convenient resting spots, water fountains and bathrooms somebody needs to get trash cans down by the trails. Boo to the hilljacks who litter, you suck. Please open up the ruins, I can't believe anybody would be dumb enough (who knows) to spray paint them during the day. C'mon they're ruins! Anyways donate money to them as they are trying to raise 2 million for something who knows, all I know this is an Indy treasure. Let's maintain it. read more

Who doesn't love going to grab some Sunday brunch in Broad Ripple and then driving a short 5 minutes away to go for a stroll in a free park? My friend and I came here to check out the place since I had never been and wanted to take a break from a House of Cards binge session. I packed up the hiking gear, brought the hammock along, and away we went. It was a good park. We went through the trails and played along the river bend. "Just around the river bend...!" It took us about 5 minutes to get down to the river from the parking lot / monument area and then about 10 minutes to get back to the lot. So, don't expect to hike here, but rather take a brisk stroll through the woods. That being said, I did like this spot. It seems like a good place to bring your dog (close to 75% of the people had dogs when I was there.). The monuments were being worked on or renovated or something, so I couldn't stop by and see them as they were fenced off. My findings: go here if, 1- you want to take a quick nature break, but nothing extreme, 2- you have children, 3- you have a dog, and/or 4- you'd like to take a date here and have a picnic. What a great park! I had no idea how large it is until it was time to explore. There are the ruins with their unique story and place in history. There are the trails that loop around so you don't get lost. Plus, the trails are easy enough to walk, but not totally flat (you'll still get a light workout). Dog-friendly. Beautiful flowers. I think they even host a number of community events (movies in the park, food trucks, etc.) to bring everyone together. I look forward to coming back! read more

A totally gorgeous park with a hidden Creek and it has a lot of hills and trails and wide open spaces! And there are so many neat architectural features and statues. The fountain there is really fun to play in with the kids in the summertime when it's hot. It's also a really great place to play Pokémon go. I highly recommend heading over to Holliday Park it's a really fun time it's a really nice environment! read more

As someone who spends a lot of time using technology both in my work and home life, visiting Holliday Park sans cell phone has become a saving grace. I love that it's close enough to home to drive to in less than 15 minutes, but feels worlds away from the bustle of the city. The simplicity of hiking or walking the meadow is just what I need to balance out the stress of email, phone call, text message pandemonium. There are enough things in the park to easily fill a whole day: hiking trails, picnic meadows, playground, a nature center, and so much more. The best part? It's completely free! read more

We love Holliday Park so much. Between the nature center, the trails, playground, ruins and its fountain and events there is so much to do here and right in the city. This park is huge so you can have a lovely, peaceful picnic away from others. The renovations the ruins are fantastic and so neat they incorporated a small splash pad and bathrooms. read more

Trails and plants/flowers - a getaway to nature within the city. Sitting here listening to the babbling brook is so relaxing! You can also sit inside the Nature Center on a comfy couch and watch the birdies play and feast and hear them over the speakers. read more

Well, wow. What a beautiful place!! I 100% percent agree with Jon A. We do have an urban park...that is nice, clean and beautiful! I went today with my hubby and Max for a local Hip Mama event. We are doing our annual picnic here for the families and with 84 people coming, this was a perfect accommodation! We were able to reserve an "area" with some picnic tables and there was plenty of trees to allow for those who needed the shade. It has three different play areas that accommodate all aged children! The walking path is safe and leads down to White River. There is a cool "ruins" area that would be great for family or engagement photos...something different and unique that you can't find anywhere else in Indy! Parking was a breeze. What a nice hidden gem! We will definitely be back! It was perfect for a day out in the sun to enjoy with the kiddos. :) Plenty of space for everyone and lots of great kid-friendly things to do. read more

Great trails that pass by river. Playground is fun for kids and has an impressive variety of equipment. Fountains at the Ruins, which a sculpture at the center, is great for hit summer days. Nature Center is chock full of stuff given the size. My son has fun there and loves Holliday Park. read more

I took my 11 yr old and 6 yr old here for the first time this past Saturday and we had a blast. Walking the nature trails and skipping rocks in the river was a memory that I think they will always cherish. I plan on taking them back once it gets a little warmer to explore even more of the area. A nice hidden gem in Indy that is fun for all. read more

I've lived in Indianapolis for over 8 yrs and just now discovered this park. This is a completely hidden gem! I was browsing some lists of parks and things to do around Indy on a lazy Sunday and saw this park on the list. I was intrigued by both the awesome, former building sculptures called "the ruins" as well as the supposed ~3-4 miles of hiking trails. The hubby and I wandered up to the Ripple region and discovered Holliday park firsthand. The trails are tucked away in the back of the park, and curve around in the old beautiful woods. The trails have nice wooden paths and bridges here-and-there, and we only ran across two people the entire time while on the trails. There is access to the river, which meanders through in a way that dogs can play around in the shallows. Completely fun place for a pooch! If you have offspring, the playground is enormous! I was wishing I was 10 yrs old again so I could play in that set. Everything is nicely shaded as well, so bring a blanket, sit, and relax! Only bummer is the restrooms - I only saw porta-pots - ick. There is also a small nature center, but it wasn't open when we happened to be at the park. Excellent place - check it out! read more

Ventured to the park for the 6:00 pm Hauntless Halloween trails. Actors and staff did a fantastic job. I've never visited the trails and kept saying I can't believe we are still in Indy. Peaceful, well maintained but still maintained the rustic nature atmosphere. Park itself had beautiful grounds with lots of families, joggers, pets and neighbors enjoying the space. We stayed until 9 and the park remained peaceful and inviting even at its peak. read more

This park is great for long walks, as we got lost a couple of times. If you like history there is part of an old building "The Ruins" that in the 1950's was moved to Indy, from the St. Paul Building in New York City as the building was being torn down. There is no entrance fee for the park. It is a great place for a free date! read more

This is out favorite park. There are great open spaces, hiking trails, and play areas targeted at different age levels. My children love the nature center. This is a great place to picnic, hang out with friends, swing, or spend a quiet moment surrounded by tall trees. read more

What an awesome place. I hadn't been back since I was in college picnicking here. Now I came back to take my 2 yr old for a playdate at the playgrounds. Huge! Lots for them to run around, climb. Equipment looks new and in great condition. It was a struggle to get him to go home. I really hope for more sunshine so we can head back. :) Best park within 10 mins on the north side of Indy. read more

Holliday Park is a lot more expansive than I thought, but tucked away with a quiet open feel. I bring my toddler to the Nature center to see the birds and to play with puzzles and animal dress up outfits; older kids can learn about nature; cool water feature outside is a hit with my little guy; nice playground (which is separated from the nature center); serene tiered garden; trail by the water; and of course the eerily slightly run down "ruins". They're running a funding campaign to rejuvinate the ruins and build a new welcome center around it--the layout looks awesome. The ruins really need it. I never made it to the kids summertime "creekstomping" for messy muddy fun, but hope to next year. Annual trail run-- sounds cool! read more

We didn't know the park was under construction when we went 2 weeks ago...which was awful for parking and exploring the ruins area. For such a large park, the parking was VERY limited plus one lot was under construction. As a first experience, I wasn't impressed. We plan to try again later in the spring to see if we have better luck, but for now we weren't blown away like all the other reviews. read more

So the main green space area is nice. The playground seems fun and well maintained but if you're looking to hike...go somewhere else. You cannot escape the sound of semis or car horns. There is so much trash along the trails and the river. I saw so many condom wrappers and soda cans/cups. Perhaps they need more trash cans or staff...? I won't be returning. read more

This is one of my favorite parks in Indy! I come here often over the summer and bring my work kids to work on social skills. They have a huge playground, an awesome nature center that is very interactive. Within the nature center they also have a birdwatching room which can be quite therapeutic and a great learning experience for kids! the best part about this park is that there are multiple walking trails that lead into the woods and it's just you and nature! Incredibly beautiful.. And it's all free to public! They also have food trucks come out in the summertime hosting different events and such. read more

It's a huge park that has one of the biggest playgrounds I've seen in Indy. They also have a small nature center on the left side of the park. It's minus one star for me because of the theft that has been going on. It's rampant for sure. Just make sure you bring all your valuables with you. Don't even bother trying to hide it under a blanket or something. Make sure your car is locked and secured. read more

Love this place! I go hiking here 3-4 times a week and it's a nice weekday workout. I can get in a 30 minute to 1 hour hike with 21 floors climbed regardless of duration according to my tracker. I love that it's easy to mix up the trails so that I'm not going the same route every time. My dog LOVES it here. The trails can be narrow and he's not the best around other pups but we find it easy to maneuver around them. We plan to keep coming back for a long time to come! read more
